Terrain rating is a bit inaccurate, path is now heavily overgrown and requires some rock clambering. Do not attempt without appropriate fitness. Tftc!
Loved the hike, went with some friends and saw a kangaroo and a lizard on the way, went decided to get there by jumping from rock to rock on the water and near the end of the rocks, we had to get our feet wet just to go across a half sunken bridge and rock to get back to the right side of the lake and looked forever until we found. A fun, memorable experience that I would recommend to everyone. It was one of the best days I have had in years
Headed for this one after finding Tree House II with Baristayan. Found the little path eventually after I’d spent some time unnecessarily hopping across blackberry laden boulders (was kinda fun I must admit).
Saw a hibernating lizard with an incredible spot in a large crack at the base of the cliffs before Yani clapped eyes on the prize. What an awesome little spot! Thanks for the cache.

In what universe is this 1.5 terrain?
Did I miss the elevator to avoid the 30mins rough hike?
Am I too soft? Of course I am
I’m an absolute fan of park and grabs. I have multiple terrain 1 caches on my history.
This was such an effort
I must say the final view was superb, and I’m glad I got convinced to do it. But mjones8 please be a mate and reconsider the terrain difficulty. At least a 2.5 or 3

What an adventure getting here, first approach too over grown, across the river then lots of rock hopping. Lots of creatures, red belly black, goanna then finally found GZ. Cleared all the spider webs. Log all stuck together, sorry had nothing to replace it. Great explore of the Yass River, wondering how old I am, feel like 9 . Then found another route out. TFTC
We may be over 40 but we're not 'over the hill'
The view from the top was spectacular but we were on the wrong track. Once back at the bottom of the hill we followed the well worn track along the riverside. Easy find when you're on the right track. SL. TFTC.

#2005 Being the first finder since last year some sections of the path were overgrown but still managed my way through without too much trouble. I disturbed a red-belly black snake on the way in but it slithered into its hole. I either saw another on the way back or it was the same one. Not too sure! They all look the same!! GZ had me in two minds. Climb a bit (option 1) which I did try. Then option 2 which had me a bit more grounded. This turned out to be correct and I soon found the cache. Thanks mjones8 for the stroll along the river. An interesting spot for a metal seat along the way but no doubt a relaxing spot. I may have sat down to enjoy the view but this was very close to the wriggly stick encounter.
Another day in Yass, this time a 30 minute break was needed to be taken before I could continue my work duties. Decided to finally attempt this cache find, not sure why I have left this old cache unfound for so long!
The terrain is easily a T2 at least, with a distance to walk to GZ along a rather rough and unmarked trail. Some rocks and slight hills, as well as the final cache find required a bit of a step and stretch could bump that up another half star as well!
Really enjoyed this walk along the river, I was worried about it being high due to the amount of rain that had fallen recently, but the walk and cache is well above the high water line!
Thanks mjones8! The logbook and container is still holding up, despite it being very non-watertight!

Out for some lockdown exercise , avoiding the rest of town. A nice spot to stop - found with Penny and the kids.
Tankengine and I thought we would head further afield to find some caches today.
It was a nice day all up and we were able to pick up some nice finds and I picked up a whole lot more than I expected I would.
The weather wasn’t desirable, but it’s winter so it’s not like it wasn’t expected. At least we didn’t have any rain.
This cache: I really liked this one. It was a really nice walk along the river following the trail all the way to GZ. Even in the overcast day, it was still nice.
The cache was found after a short search and with the help of Tankengine’s note to where it was when he found it last time. Tftc!!!

A nice cross country walk from the tree house 2 geocache. Unfortunately the log is saturated so couldn’t record my find. I took a photo for the records. TFTC
Mumma Bear and I walked this trail on one of my first visits to Yass, and I think even before I had introduced her to geocaching.
An older couple were sitting on the metal bench seat when we came past, looking intently at their phones. I thought we might have sprung some fellow cachers, but no logs from that day to support it unfortunately.... or perhaps they just couldn't find it.....?
Thanks for a tricky hide - a cliff face will always mess with your signal accuracy to some degree.
Don't mind the spiders that appear to like nesting inside the cache container - they're only tiny.
Cheers!

Took us longer to find than it probably should have!
A couple of resident spiders in the container which we relocated - be careful opening it.

Headed over to Yass with fitzy_1965 to pick up the new caches and clean up a few others that I've missed along the way.
This was one that I just hadn't tried before. After collecting another nearby, we made our way downhill to the path. Unfortunately, I slipped on a rock and landed hard on my coxxyx. This also jarred my already sore shoulder/neck from sleeping funny.....so I had to suck it up and walk along the path in more pain than when I started today. Glad to make the find.

Awesome hide. Beautiful spot to trek to. Heading north from the Clearwaters Mega at Queanbeyan. Enjoying the sites of smaller towns & out caching today. Logs signed Coongoola or CG.

Found at 12:19 PM GAFF3.
After a false start that took a bit out of p-pprass, we headed down a much easier path and meandered our way to GZ - passed the tree and the seat that looked so lovely looking out to the river and then there it was - so relieved that it was not going to be another big effort to find this cache.
Thanks mjones8 - deserves an FP for the adventure and the scenic views.

Had a couple of days in Yass for an Emergency Management course so whenever there was some free time I headed out to grab some of the local caches.
I made this harder than it was cause I took the terrain rating to high
Thanks to the CO's for placing the caches I found.

Caching in and around Yass, we picked up a few caches in the area and this was one of them.
An easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Another trip across the ditch to find some caches with tmann421Enjoyed all we found and all we sawThanks to the cache ownersSigned log tm/ww NZ
We were riding the river paths but left the bikes when it looked like we'd be doing more pushing than riding. Really enjoyed the walk along the cliff face path, especially the perfectly placed seat behind the tree. If for no other reason the cache was a winner for that but combined with the lovely walk this is a excellent cache. Thanks to local knowledge for finding these places for us, TFTC mjones8.
We enjoyed the short walk along the river and the final location. The cache could do with some love, with soil creeping into the container since it was placed, but I note that the owner has long since left the game. We found after a short search, resorting to the hint because our first find was a lizard sleeping or hiding in one of the vertical cracks and we were slightly twitchy about finding more reptiles! Thanks mjones8.
Quick find with Justjessie as we work towards finding all the Yass caches. Today we did all of what was left on the North side of the main road though town. TFTC.
I made the mistake of coming to this cache from above, I got to within 11m according to the GPSr, but that was as far as I was tempted to go.
Oh, and by the way I encountered a slithery brown thing on the way there, it slithered across my path about 3m in front of me, we both decided to give each other a wide berth.

Darksidedan and I headed out to Yass again to collect a few more caches on a fabulous sunny Saturday morning. We both found around 40 caches for the day - a good haul given we were not in a hurry and headed back to the ACT at lunchtime. Another fun filed day with lots of chatter and birds. If not otherwise indicated, all caches found in reasonable order and in short time.
Came at this one from Wilson's cache. A nice walk along the river and a quick find thanks to the hint. A fav from me!

*Our last day in Yass, in the good company of Suscoe, we concentrated on finding caches within a 5 km radius of the town. That still set us quite a high target for the day. Just as the rain started, we signed our final log - 44/44 smiley tokens!!*
It certainly was an interesting walk from Tree House II through to Wilson's.
Thanks mjones8 for placing this cache.

Suscoe and Phetlern were out and about for our last day of caching in the Yass area.
The day started cool and a little cloudy, but it was fine until the last cache was found and then a thunder storm rolled across from the western hills. Great timing we reckoned.
A really pleasant day of town and nearby caching with a good mixture of hides and fun on the way around the roads.
Thanks to mjones8 for this hide, a pleasant walk along the track and a nice hide in a beaut place.

First stop for a few days and many caches in Yass.
Met up with lgoody again for a caching day trip around town.
Found the right track and no overgrowth so off we went and a quick find at GZ.
Thanks for the cache mjones8,

Found a track to the cache but a lot of overgrown grass. Heaps of grass seeds in our socks. We saw around 20 Cunningham's skinks scurry off the path as we walked along. TFTC
#2015 Out from Canberra for the day with Green-Martian and IamCoust, and all the kids tagging along. After finding 'Tree House II', GM and I made our way to GZ. GM went climbing while I was looking lower. I was within centimetres of the cache when GM looked again for me and spotted it. Nice work. TFBUH mjones8.
Me and TheSkype made the initial error of thinking the cache was alot higher, like above the cliffs, until we figured our error, found the path and got to GZ. I climbed way higher on the cliff than need be, and found cache in crack that TheSkype looked in a few secs before but overlooked the cache. Teamwork, cache might need new log.
Left our Yass accommodation and before breakfast on a great sunny morning decided to complete all of the caches "in town" with higher D/T ratings. Thought this may be beyond us but pleasantly surprised. What a beautiful area.

#3978 - 16:05; I needed to pick up an item from the little bakery near Collector, so organized with MrDamage to do a caching run through the area to the north of the ACT to collect a few recently published caches and visit some new areas as well. We were now well under way having visited Collector, Gunning and Dalton and we now had about half of the caches in and around Yass taken care of. Parked in a spot to gain access to caches in both directions and headed off north to this one first. MrD and I both clambered around where our GPSrs were indicating, but without any luck. I left a message for a PAF, but before I received the call back, we had expanded our search area and MrD had come up with the goods. TFTC mjones8
Found 4:06 pm with LuckyL10n. We were out on a caching run with LuckyL10n on a mission to do 50ish caches. This one was on the to do list. Stopped the geomobile nearby and off we went to GZ taking the walk along the track. At or near GZ depending in how you look at it we started our search. At one time I found myself supporting LuckyL10n as he searched some higher spots. I went off and up a bit checking locations but still nothing I then decided to recheck where the GPS thought it should be and just in case, I tried different spots to see if it would change depending on where I was standing. So I then found another potential GZ and a little after looking around spotted something suspicious. Cache in hand I called out and we shortly after signed the log and then returned cache back to its hide.
Thanks for the cache and for showing the interesting area.

10097. Found during a great run up through the Yass region with mtrax and Dwarf Exploder.
Despite the chance of rain the three of us met early this morning and did the quick trip up to Yass for a day of caching. A great day - over 50 caches for myself with only a single DNF. This was my next find for the day. We left this to next to last as it was the longest walk of the day. Along a well maintained path we went for a quick find at GZ. Signed, returned, and then we headed off to the next one.
Thanks mjones8 !

Had a great day caching around Yass with fitzy1965 and mtrax. Managed to triple my previous best for most caches found in a day and passed the 600 finds mark. Most caches were found easily with only one DNF for the whole day.
Had a lovely stroll along the well maintained path to this one which was easily found. Thanks mjones8.

A quick find on a big day out caching with The Storm Man. Nice walk to this location. TFTC.
Continuing on our hunt for more caches Joelisa and I travelled into Yass to try to clean up that town for the rest of the day. Really nice walk once we found the track. It's a bit hard to walk straight from Tree Climb 2 to the path, lots of grass and a bit of a cliff to scale. TFTC

Out caching around Yass today with Strangetrousers , B737 and JetF on a warm summers day actually very warm.
A very enjoyable day around Yass thanks for the excuse to explore this town.
well this one was a bit of a walk we started from up on Meehan st and walked down to the river and probably the hottest day at least it felt like it thankfully strangetrousers was just about to climb up when he spotted it.. all good thanks
now the walk back try to avoid the angry bees on the return walk.

Found on a day trip to Yass with Mtrax, Strangetrousers and JetFuselage. A successful day, only a couple of DNFs. Not that many muggles out today thankfully and no snakes spotted either which is a bonus! I love all the old restored period homes in Yass. Will definitely come back soon to attempt the rest.
A very hot walk in the afternoon 36C sun. Got a bit sunburnt. Saw a lizard move at lightning speed when we frightened it. Saw a natural beehive in the rocks as well which was interesting - they took a *shining* to Mtrax and one kamikaze bee sacrificed itself on his hat Cache itself was easily found. Needed an ice pack back at the car to avoid an episode of heat exhaustion. TFTC mrjones8

#1601 42 of 49 today.
Spent the day out at Yass with mtrax, B737 & JetFuselage. The recent proliferation of caches there meant it was well worth a visit. We shall have to return to grab the rest. It was warm; 36C warm. For the most part we just drove around Yass grabbing drive-by caches, but for some others there was a bit of walking and the heat was oppressive at times. On the positive side, this also meant a lack of muggles out and about. There was just the one spot we couldn't access due to muggles and that was a boat ramp, so no surprises there. On the whole, a great day's caching.
Probably the hardest one of the day for us, mostly because of the heat and the direction we chose to access it. It was a very quick find in the end. No climbing involved.
Thanks for the cache mjones8.

Drove up early from Canberra and spent 8 hours around Yass seeking out caches. A great day found 44 caches, 2 trackables, $2.00 and a mobile phone. Walked around and into some magnificent historic buildings, visited some nice parts of the Yass River that I never new existed and had some great views. TFTC.

Saturday had arrived and the sun was out-so I decided to make the most of it and nab some more caches in Yass as well as several others on the way
Parked the car at the end of the guard rail on Demestre Stand then made my way down via the track to GZ, then it was on with the search. Climbed here and there looking in lots of nooks and crannies then suddenly SUCCESS! I really didn't need to climb at all-could've stayed on terra firma and shined my torch right in front of me to find it!
Thanks for the hide, mjones8

After picking up the cache across the river we tried to get across the way but it appeared to not work out, so we went another way with no problems, arrived at GZ and a short search we made the fond. The river is running quite well and it's very cold, swim was not an option. TFTC

Initially in my logs I usually mention what song was in my head when I found the cache. I actually didn't have any today as I was listening to ABC local radio and actually found it very interesting.
With my 30th birthday approaching in two weeks and having just passed 800 finds the competitive side of my brain decided it would be a great challenge to attempt to get to 1000 finds on my birthday. This would also mean that I would attain 1000 finds in 19 months of geocaching. I sat on the idea for a couple of days, I wasn't sure whether it was achievable and whether or not I would have the time to travel to areas which had decent trails. The competitive side got the better of me and with 10 days until my birthday I decided that the challenge was on!!
After completing the Endangered Species power trail yesterday I was nearing my 1000 mark. This left me only a handful of finds left meaning I couldn't completely clean out Yass. It also meant that I had to count my finds as I went along so that I didn't accidentally go past 999 finds!
I walked down the trail from the treehouse to this one. As I walked I was thinking about how this would be a good trail to run along and the locals must enjoy it! I got near GZ and spotted the hide straight away. It wasn't quite what I was expecting and I was a tad disappointed it wasn't in a more precarious hiding place (I do like the dangerous types haha) but I appreciate that such hides aren't for everyone. I quickly signed the log and put the cache back into place. I then had a bit of a climb in the area and headed across the stream to get to the geocaches on the other side.
Thanks for bringing me out here!
This is number 993 on my way to 1000
TFTC Cheers

Up early after an overnight stay in Yass in the back of my car. Slept surprisingly well! Soon in caching mode to clean up Yass. Was fairly successfull and only a few DNF/ not there. Love all the new caches around, thanks for placing them. Called it enough when the rain started to set in again towards lunch.

A nice, tranquil place. Evidently there are efforts underway to remove some of the weed species from this part of the river corridor - yay! TFTC
found on an afternoon caching adventure with Thetreewhisperer. thetrewhisperer was looking on a ledge above the cache as he thought that was where it would be but i saw the hide and made the grab. like the cache and the area it is in. I would like it if the council would do something about all the oil and chemicals in the river though, so people can swim in this area as it is lovely. TFTC mjones8
4008. As I found myself in Yass, I thought I would grab a few that have appeared since my last caching visit. This was one and after missing it on the first pass, grabbed it with my second look. Again very well hidden / covered. Glad I had Tanso watching on and to guide me to GZ.

Decided it was a nice day for a drive up the Barton and go clean out the 4 caches in Yass I have outstanding. Fair bit of road works going on along the Barton Highway but hopefully for the better.
I moved on from my attempt at Visitors Welcome as it seems another caching team had the cache in hand and inside the visitors centre as I was visiting the ladies room.
The last time I did a Yass clean out, this one for some odd reason did not appear on my GPSr however this time it is. I wandered over through the longer dry grass keeping a close eye out for our slithery friends, none to report thankfully. Once at GZ, I located the cache in the second place I looked, however I had dropped my pen along the way, BUGGER! The log is in need of replacement so the CO might need to check this one out (noticed they haven't been online for a while, hopefully they haven't given up caching) Thanks for the cache placement mjones8 back to the geomobile for me

TFTC. Thought we might have had to climb to the top of the cliff face for this one but ended up finding it eventually.
Found this one easy enough. Meant to be away for an hour. It will be 30 min later due to the Tree House.
Thanks Mjones8
Thanks Mjones8
Came to this one from the pine tree one. Found the cool path, and followed that! Nice. Once at GZ, the fun began. I saw a perfect hole for a cache, and saw a rubber snake tail in there - though that must be what the hint means, and went to grab it! Yikees - it slid deeper! Since when can snakes climb cliffs? Well, turns out the cache was in the next hole over, about 20cm away! Thanks again M8.
Found with geo friend Bluewattle on our caching weekend in the Yass district, TFTC.
If I see a snake I'll probably scream!
Finally found it - what an adventure. Definitely not recommended for the herpetophobic or entomophobic.

This is a difficult cache to get to. Up the hill and then down to the river. But a good view from the top. TFTC mjones8.
Love those words "I've got it" we started to doubt we were going to hear them in this one. Enjoyed the walk and the secret location. Very glad to come away with the cache as well. Tftc

So I had to get this in day light today and I was kicking myself once I made GZ
