This cache has been on our 'to do' list for years but for various reasons has never been attempted. Today it was one of three we targeted so enjoyed a wander through this lovely patch of bush to reach the published waypoint to get the information required to find the cache. When GZ didn't appear to be quite as expected we luckily checked our workings and then found we had a much shorter walk ahead of us.No problem finding the final.Thank you Kiwi_Explorer.
It feels like forever ago that we walked up this track. With no specific plans today and good weather we nominated three caches. A letterbox, a trad and a multi. I vividly remember a night cache along here and some more caches as well. Being a walker it takes a bit but I'm chipping away at the Barnicoat to finally have it smiling at me. The seat is almost totally obscured by the prolific growth we had of grass and weeds alike but a narrow trail led the way. The numbers were soon calculated and away we went. At GZ the PP hint item was missing but the cache page was informative enough to look in the right spot and make a quick find. Belated concratulations with the big One Double Oh. We managed to log 83 sofar. Thank you Kiwi Explorer
After a good hunt round we couldn’t locate this Cashe. May be due to the recent work that has been done in this location.
Nice family hike today in the Richmond Hills. Numbers were easily found and calculated. Cache found quite quickly at GZ.
Two kids at home with the sniffles, but with way too much energy to be cooped up, had me back along this lovely track. We didn't divert to do this multi last time so it was still waiting for us. No probs with the info or find. And everyone made it out without any scrapes or grazes which is always a bonus. TFTC
A short walk in the Richmond Hills to find a few caches and to test a recently damaged body part. Rough enough on both accounts. 2nd for today. Arrived at coords and did the maths. Loaded these into the GPS and was soon at GZ. After a short search the cache was in hand. Brought a replacement log as saw one was needed - least we could do. Dried all bags, signed new log and hid as found. All good here.

Cache checked today. It needs a new log book which we will drop in on our next loop walk.
No joy at the final. There are several big piles of branches under the trees the hint refers to.
This one allowed me to rest a bit while I gathered the information and computed the coords. I got the checksum to come out right away, so then enjoyed the view until I was ready to go again.
The final took a lot of searching, but I eventually spotted the cache. TFTC.

Took a seat in the sun and solved this one. A local was working in the field above us and he greeted us, then later checked if we were all right. Hope it didn’t look like we were lost or anything. It was quick to find the track to the cache and just took a couple of minutes to track it down. All food here, TFTC Kiwi Explorer.
A bit of a lazy start to the day, but once we got up and going it was a simple plan - some shopping, a short walk, then back home to Blenheim for me.
The short walk was a little longer than we initially thought it would be, but was good nonetheless. We did this nice little bush walk, and learned a few things. It was a walk that RG1972 had not done before, and a little bit of it was foreign to me too. Pleasing thing was that we found all caches we attempted, so thanks all COs.

Thanks Mary Margaret for getting a rest and the final coordinates at the same time - and thanks of course Kiwi_Explorer for placing!
I had trouble getting to GC, I think I tried all the different walkways (at least 4) but couldn't get any closer.
At the end I went again to the one I tried first, but turned right at some point - way looked closed but I just gave it a try and soon had the cache.

Took the top track to this seat to capture the info. Trundled on to GZ and find the gate. Now the search was on to find the specific tree. The Seagnoid snaggs this one back down the track a bit. Cheers. But is lemonwood a spitophorom?
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geotrip to Nelson. We are on the hunt for points for the Carnival season so targeting the best caches Nelson has to offer. Zara is keeping the neighbours company while we zip around with Toby.

Enjoyable walk up the side loop - lots of people and their dogs on this track. Got to the cache and now had to do some research - is a lemonwood/tarata actually a pittisporum? Okay, yes it is! I would not have guessed. I guess it does look similar though.
I noticed the trails are not fully plotted here. I breadcrumbed them in my GPS and will add them to the maps shortly.
With the latest Groundspeak promotion, Cache Carnival, I loaded my GPS with a pocket query containing all caches with 10 favourites or more between Nelson and Motueka. Over 1000 carnival points, should be enough to get me to 500 and the Grand Poobah souvenir; Rio de Janeiro. Except that I forgot the other aspect of the game, and I started this trip with 350 points, achieved while sitting on my arse, doing nothing. Taybeedragon has bet that I can get to 500 without finding a single cache, simply due to others placing favourites on my caches.
So anyway here we are, Taybeedragon and I, targeting better-than-average caches.
Took only 8 cache finds to get to 500 points. Yet to see if I could have done it with no finds at all...

Out on my Sunday run, got sidetracked up Jimmy Lee. Turned off onto this track which I'd never been on before. Quickly arrived at the posted coordinates of this cache; I don't usually do multis while out running, but for the second time this morning I decided I could make an exception. The coordinates were easily calculated, GZ was very close by but in the wrong direction from where I was going, as well in a place that didn't have a track marked on my GPSr. Had a go anyway, found the right track and then the cache, with little problem. TFTC.
After a morning of heavy and steady rain Tregearp and I needed to get out and get some exercise. We saw this track up to the Grassy Saddle which we hadn't been on before with a handful of caches.
Quickly found the required information, a simple solve and onward for the final. Log book a tad damp but still serviceable.
Thanks for another Kiwi_Explorer cache.

SJT_NZ powered up the trails, this one made a nice little loop track and the last one of the day, a lovely view at the first waypoint today and quickly got the required info. A short stroll to the final and easy find, cache all ok, Thanks K_E for a lovely loop walk to get rid of the cabin fever.
Another stunning day and dog loved the walk. Quickly sorted out the required coordinates but took the more difficult way in. After finding the cache was able to take the more appropriate way out. Thanks for the cache.
I was with Nanzie a year ago when she found this one but I saved it for a calendar day. A nice evening for a walk after work. I'm sure I didn't huff and puff as much last time. Thanks for the cache Kiwi_Explorer

Happy Valentines! Coord hint didn't make sense but stuck with obvious decoding and got there thanks to plenty if eyes
Compass and GPS threw us of by directing us into gorse and blackberries. Read clue and searched wider, found in short time. Tftc
I must have done something wrong with the coordinates because it tried to lead me onto a sheep paddock.
Nice and muddy up here today, still I wasn't alone very popular with muggles both 2 and 4 legged, nice spot to sit and watch the view while working out the numbers
Got the kids helping with the numbers but it was the Mum that got the simple calculation a little incorrect meaning we were sending the kids into gorsey tricky territory. On widening the hunting zone, it was easily spotted, Mums calculation corrected and the job done and dusted. Lots of fun getting to the area with slippery muddy tracks but much fun.
OMG mud mud and more mud.
A slight miscalculation saw us traipsing round in all the wrong places. We had great fun but I would recommend doing this when the paths are dry.
Saw a beautiful passion fruit tree.
Thank you for the cache

I was looking for a nice walk to fill in a bit of time between appointments, this was just what I was looking for. I headed up what I thought could be a likely track and as it turned out it was the right one. Great views from the seats on a near perfect (weatherwise) afternoon. GK and I have been to the PP gate before as we were wandering around but we had accessed it via a different part of the hill. GZ was not in the first place I looked but in the second so that made for a nice easy find. Thanks Kiwi_Explorer I am pleased to turn this one into a find before the wet weather arrives and the ground becomes more slippery.
paddle chick and I went for a walk up this valley to get a few cache, with in a few minutes I had the cache .Thanks for the cache Kiwi-Explorer
Really enjoyed the walk and appreciated the efforts of cachers to get us up this gully, this game never ceases to amaze me...why isn't the inventor being supported by a $1 payment from every member....well worth the token gesture....thank you for this multi....the co-reds on the final were perfect.
Lovely alternative walk; it's not exactly where the clue says, but in a neighbouring one.
Happy Valentine's Day. A lonely day for Hoosier Kiwi and the Adventure Family were all working. A little GC stroll on a beautiful to chase away the blues. The cicadas were hanging out at GZ in force, but overcame fear and dove in for a quick find. TFTC!
Oops. It's a bit after the event to be saying "thanks for the 100 hides" so "thanks for the 108 hides." Not sure why it's taken so long to get here - - but that's been put right now. I see this one will mean I have found 75 of your hides. - - - Lots of memories there including lots of events. Oops, I see a puzzle I've solved and haven't found yet . . . and a few others I should have found by now. Thanks for all your hides - - - and here's to the next 108 !!!!
Out for a bit of caching and shopping with Sidewaze. A great day to be out and about; the mountains so clear against the evening sky as we drove home you just wanted to hold your breath and absorb the beauty of it all. TFTC
#9704. Third day in a row where I needed some finds to get up to five for the calendar day (just two needed today). Today I thought I'd tackle a couple of local hillside caches that Troodles had already found while streaking. For most of the multis Troodles has found while streaking, she brings the coordinates of the final home and updates GSAK. This one was an exception, but it didn't take too long to the get some coords. Once at GZ it took a little while for the GPSr to settle, but once it did the cache was a quick find. I'd been up the valley track before, and it was interesting to come back and explore some side tracks. TFTC.
Out on a late afternoon walk caching up on some local caches. Thanks for the caches
A beautiful evening for a caching-walk and what better place to come than up this beautiful gully. A quick work of the numbers and the final location was determined one double oh further on. After some fruitless looking in the wrong place due to not believing my GPS I soon sharpened my game and found the cache. TFTC
Thought I'd better have a look for this cache before the wet weather descends - surely the good weather will break soon? Usually I like to get my cache of the day either en route to somewhere if I'm driving, or via bike, but today decided to be lazy and drive to the track start as getting there involved a bit up an uphill battle which I'm not fit enough to tackle.
It's been a while since I walked up here, and enjoyed the walk through the shady gully. I hadn't spotted the "alternate route" before and it was a bit more of a slog so was pleased to see the seat to recover my breath on And not just one seat, three of them within a short distance!
Soon had some co-ords and set off to the final. Thanks for the warning about staying on track else I may have tried to do a bush bash and would have regretted it. Wish I could say the cache was a quick find as I did quickly spot what turned out to be the hiding place but due to failing eyesight , discounted it as I thought it looked like something more permanent. It was only when I put my glasses on to read the previous logs that I looked up and saw I was a mere metre away from GZ.
Good effort on the 100 (plus) hides), many thanks for them all and appreciate the time and effort you put into geocaching. Found more than 50 of them so far, so still a few more to smiliefy. And thanks for day #310 of my streak.

Last weekend One K and this weekend One Double Oh! Sorry I haven't afforded you the honour of making this my 100th K-E find as I might never get there. This is my 85th K-E find and the cache gives a great reason to reminisce over some of the fun, mental challenge and jubilation that the finds have provided. I also made several stuff ups with your caches in my early caching days which you were very forgiving about. One of my all time favourites was GC1DMZ5 I meant what I said... The Am I FTF?? Challenge changed the FTF race to a more sedate and achievable FDF. The NCIS series was brilliant and so much fun. The I see nothings another memorable series and then there's the unfolding saga of the Valentine Day events. One thousand thank yous! Also for the checksum because as usual with these simple number multis I stuffed it up but the find was super quick which I didn't expect after some of the previous logs. Lovely afternoon for a wander up here and the view was stunning. TFTC #6431
My first find for 2015!! Happy New Year everyone!! Decided to take Miss Chrisb34 with me and we both thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant stroll to the way point and onward from there to the GZ. Coordinates for final were spot on although between us, we did make hard work of working them out correctly. Derrr!!! I reckon the magnificent view was distracting us. Well that's my excuse anyway! Thanks KE for another wonderful cache!!
In Richmond on a wee family holiday. Mrs G went off on another early morning hill run....using her leg to make the calculations she soon had GZ in hand and off she went. A brief search and she was signing the log. Nice one. Cheers.
My target area for today's lunchtime geocaching exploits started off well especially on my first visit this far up this track. Thought I saw the target WP in the distance as I headed up the path only to be despondent as the track then headed in the other direction. No need to worry as a couple of twists and turns took me to the intended WP. Grabbed the numbers and set off for the GZ. Took a bit of a short cut as I (correctly) guessed at the PP sign, but then had an 'ugh' moment as I was not short of pittos to search around. @Marchwood's beer bottle observation gave me heart as I widened the search area and then caught sight of some tell-tale camo.
Thanks to KE for the time and trouble he (and the many other local COs) put into hiding. I feel it will be many years before we could reach our One Double Oh.

When does 101 come before 100? In cache finds although not cache placements. Yes, we did 'get' both titles. Although the log writer for the team sees enough numbers in her day job not to worry about our caching stats too much, she does spot others.
So, we have found or attended 95 of the now 101 set by the CO/COs. As 5 are now archived and 1 is up high, we hope they set at least 5 more caches or events so we can get the One Double Oh finds.
Mrs SoBad was at the event where the delight on the face of the winner of the small cache to place was ... well ... something. However, our delight at the find was unmistakable. We knew the likely way to the way point - the check sum made the final coordinates look good - and the proof of the maths was in the find.
The CO may not be surprised to hear that his puzzle caches are the favourite for one of the team - although events have always been fun as well. The night caches have been a sociable group activity as was the Italian Campaign.
Thanks for the 95 events, earthcaches, trads and of course puzzles that we have had the pleasure of logging. Roll on the double century, before 2022 we hope.
A favourite.

Congratulations on the milestone. KE cache #90 for us so thanks very much for the many enjoyable hides over the last few years. Wandered up the hill today. Took a seat and enjoyed the panorama and then did my sums. Off to GZ. Learnt another "geocaching" abbreviation and then set about searching. Examined a beer bottle quite close by and then found the prize shortly after.
Thanks for the walk, the views and of course the prize at the end that makes it all the more worthwhile.

Nice one! A milestone to celebrate indeed! Mr KE introduced me to geocaching back in 2008 and after a few months of hesitant off and on finding of caches here and abouts I was truly hooked. The 2nd cache I ever found was a Kiwi_Explorer cache - GC1AVTY - Start-A-Cache - gone but not forgotten! My first FTF was a Kiwi_Explorer cache - GC1K304 - Rai Valley - still going strong as far as I can see. I shared some significant adventures and milestones with the CO too - like FTF and find #4000 (for me) at GC387D4 - Doomed Mine Hunt. Anyway, well done on cache #100 and this chance to reminisce. I went for a morning walk before settling down to work and the views from up the track were stunning. I sorted out where I needed to go and how to get there without too much trouble but then when I got to GZ I insisted on searching half a dozen wrong spots before finally investigating the most obvious. Cache was well hidden though. TFTC, Biggles.
um....doh....just twigged !!
100m caches....nice one....thanks for putting them out.....well some of them any way....the others are out of my league !!
Thanks again KE and family.

I was here when the platform was formed, then again when seat placed. But today was nice to come back and see the completed project.
I must have made a mistake some where in my numbers as I was 26m from GZ, but good enough to make the find with the hint.
Thanks Kiwi Explorer for the cache.

After our adventures and occassionally challenging day in the City we headed out to Grape Escape for a spot of lunch and while there the conversation turned to this freshly published cache. We'd noted that B&W had already logged a FTF but Junior was keen to get a FDF at least. Now, we haven't had a heap of luck with Multi's in the past; mainly because we just have an android phone and once we (hopefully) establish the correct co-ords for GZ, our technique involves wandering around in ever expanding circles in the hope that at some stage we'll look at the phone and find that we've miraculously arrived at GZ. We really do need some lessons here. Anyway, found our first location and noted necessary information and then spiralled off. After about an hour. Yes an hour. We found ourselves in a situation where we were getting closer to both our co-ordinates. Happy news indeed. We were at the entrance to a track we hadn't seen before and there was a single set of footprints entering and departing. We noted that B&W had the proper footwear for the job, unlike some subsequent geocachers. We made up a slippery slope and soon found ourselves at the location of all the P's and our search began. And lasted quite some time. The co-ords were right. The signage was correct. The P. Euginoides abundant. Much fossicking continued. Me on all fours and sniffing around trees like a labrador. Junior offering advice. We worked our way further and further from two of the P's (bearing in mind B&W's pblm with the co-ords). Eventually I returned to the track and that was the moment the slippery clay took my feet from under me and I hit the ground and mud rather hard. Not for the first time today, Junior and I had a small disagreement around the humour of the situation. "I'm going home." I said.
"No!" said Junior. And just then his feet failed him too. Now with both of us covered in mud we agreed it was time to admit defeat. We had failed at a multi again! Aaaargh!
Returned to car and both partners had to remove a large amount of clothing before entering the vehicle.
Glad we weren't pulled over on the way home. We've had better days. Like yesterday.
