Found while out enjoying a lovely family drive through the area and as we headed home we made the detour here, Thanks for all the interesting information, but no thanks I have never like Vegemite, (or Marmite either lol) plenty for everyone else though, although the youngest team member does like home made vegemite scrolls, guess I will have to make some for him now TFTC and the fun
Out in the PeuGEOt on my own today as both Mrs Cogs and little littlecogs are both crook. Want to have 500 chalked up before my knee replacement next month.Yep I still enjoy my Vegiemite at 62.Love the cache, gets a flavorite from me. TFTC
Got to go and took us a few minutes as range on the phone was minimal. Eventually made the find on another well themed cache!! TFTC!!
'Logged" and back on the road quick enough. No traffic. Love the country around here. Thanks for another one c'nc.
Last day of our trip, and with the family catching a few extra zzzzzzzs I snuck out for one last cache. Picked up a few adventure labs an oldie and a few trads that will help with a few challenges im working on.Cache was found quickly log signed and safely returned to its rightful place for the next finder.Off to the next I go before returning to Brisbane.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cs he available for fellow cachers to find.Cheers.
I found this cache with scramping on our way to the Capital GeoBash. scramping likes her vegemite thick and I like it thin. Either way we are happy little vegemite's.Thanks for the cache
Found with hevwalker on our way to the GeoBash, we were definitely happy little vegemites to find this one. Had to do a u-turn twice, as we took a wrong turn, drove down the road and did a u-turn.... then drove past the information sign and said we need to go back to find the vegemite in the car to take a selfie..... and oooh there's a cache here...definitely need to get an extra smiley on our faces. TFTC
We checked on this area yesterday and are now satisfied that this cache can be safely re-enabled.
Important Notice:While the major fire front has been suppressed, there is still fire activity in the area in the form of smouldering stumps and trees. Any 'Found It' logs while this cache is disabled for this reason will be subsequently deleted. We will check out each location and arrange re-enabling of caches as access and safety allows.Thank you for your understanding.Jo and Glen (chooknchunk)
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
A quick stop to break up the drive. A nice hide to go with the container here. Wasn't sure what to expect until I saw the sign, some Australian history for you. Thanks for the cache.
On a day out with deanside and tenkae, our main target was a nearby golden oldie but we couldn't resist stopping off on the way there, just for a few short detours. This one was a quick find, thanks. It's now the smaller older brother of the new multi version nearby, 100 years of yeast extract. Nice to hear the history behind the man who invented this Brown gloop. Hope he made some money before his early death.
Spending a wonderful day caching with great friends Tenkae and ConnieandRick. I do love Vegemite, especially on fresh bread with lots of butter! What a great little piece of Australian history Thanks chooknchunk for bringing me here and contributing to this great game for others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
Quick park and grab here as we explore the area. Great cache container. Left the drop bear in there. Tftc
Found by The Empire + HWe had been yearning for a break from the daily grind, and the prospect of heading into the bush was like a breath of fresh air. The cityscape gradually faded into the rearview mirror as the road stretched endlessly before us. We rolled down the windows, allowing the sweet scent of blooming eucalyptus trees to fill the car. As we approached Ballarat, the landscape began to change. Rolling hills dotted with wildflowers started to emerge, and the colors of spring painted the world in shades of green and gold. Vegemite on toast is my favourite food! A quick find, thanks for the cache chooknchunk.- M
The things we learn while caching. Amazing...
Cache was found as expected, and as for the container...well I think the favourite points tell a story here.
Thanks for the history here chooknchunk...a good fun cache. Fav point? Absolutely.

Ballarat and Rutherglen Christmas 2022 Trip. Day 3. Yesterday was a full day completing the Ballarat Geo Tour caches. Today Fitzy_1965, Smitten Granny, Kitty Katch, Joolay and albida33 jumped in one car and headed a bit further afield to do the Christmas tree puzzle series and a few older caches well to the north of Ballarat. Next on the agenda was getting to the challenge Caches that could be driven to a bit south of town. The final activity of the caching day was some of the LAB caches around town. At then end of the day we met up for a great dinner before retiring for a well earned night.
As we headed from old cache to old cache we stopped for a cache or two and a bite of food for lunch.
Thanks for the cache chooknchunk

A much cooler day today with scattered showers while travelling with Albida33, Fitzy_1965, Joolay and Kittykatch. First up we attacked the presolved Christmas Series then headed north for some older caches before returning south for the challenge caches and whatever else might pop up.
Thanks for the company to my geobuddies and the caches to all COs. Logs were signed as BCI 22 as it stands for Ballarat Christmas Invasion.

wow ... being english born Marmite was well known to me .... loved the history of vegemite - gee wizz that Cyril was a very clever man. Thanks so much for the history and of course the well designed cache.
A great old rhyme. Certainly been through a few of those jars. Nice work for a cache. Thanks for the fun.

Such interesting information to learn! Never new that vegimite was once known as pa will ! Love the “if ma might, pa will” nice cache camouflaged well!! TFTC fav from us ️
Found it Tftc. We learnt something today thanks to your geocache. Greetings from Adelaide
A quiick find while staying with friends in the country near Raglan. Also found out who invented vegimite. TFTC.
We have sold the shop in Avoca, and we need to clean it out before we settle in a few weeks. We took a different route as we had found all the caches on the other routes we have taken to get to Avoca in the past. We love our Vegemite, but we tend to appreciate different amounts on our toast. Mrs. Dromaniax likes a thinnish spread, and Mr. Dromaniax prefers it thick like jam or peanut butter. We were unaware that it had ever been called anything other than Vegemite. We loved the themed cache container, and the cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache chooknchunk. An FP from us for teaching us more about this iconic Aussie foodstuff.

**Find #4743**
**Traditional Find #2961**
I headed out with Steve to Avoca to target some of Victoria's 500 oldest caches.
The weather was perfect all day but once in the bush, our progress was hindered and then stopped a number of times by branches and entire trees that had been downed by last week's storm.
An interesting piece of Australian history here. A quick find in an obvious place.

Travelled out to Avoca to join in the celebration events and explore an area I’ve not been to before.
Wow,,, Vegemite is one of my favourite spreads. Lightly dabbed on a piece of toast with melted butter, or slathered across a fresh slice of buttered bread. I would never have discovered this location if not for caching. The cache host is well weathered and would have been a super clever hide in it’s original days. Although aged, it is still a great cache.
Thanks chooknchunk for the cache.

Love the cache on this one! It was a little bit wet to be walking through the grasses, but the reward at the end of the search was worth it!
A weekend away, hosted by the lovely chooknchunk. Today’s guided tour - Ben Major and surrounds.
After a breakfast of vegemite on toast, we headed out to find some caches. This was on today’s list.
Great story!

It seems like forever ago since AusFox; Neville_devil and I had made it out for a big day of caching. AusFox; had his eye on some unloved days that had been building on some caches on Mt Cole so that was our destination for the adventure.
When the target caches where done we turned our attention to other caches in the area.
Who would have thunk the inverter of Vegemite would have come from way out here. As a kid I used to eat loads of Vegemite but as I got old my tastes have changed I now prefer a similar product with a sweeter taste Promite.
Thank you chooknchunk for the history lesson

First time in a while that I’ve been out caching with SimsFamily and Neville Devil for the usual laughs, insults and amazing locations regardless that the white beast has height issues.
We headed for Mt Cole to start the day, then on to Waterloo, Beaufort and Rokewood and everywhere in between which made for great locations and hides which made for a great day out.
Well the things you learn while caching.

Well here was an iconic Australian spot to stop
And after a poke around,
the cache was found
Now I have a couple more answers to trivia questions in me arsenal,
I continued me tour of Chute
Gotta admit though !!
I was given a spoonful of that stuff by me Mum,
when I was about five,
and have never tasted it since [^]
Just the smell is enough to stop me trying

We really enjoyed reading the "Vegemite" story. We had heard snippets previously but we now have a more complete picture. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a well designed and constructed cache. Unfortunately weathering has resulted in the lid splitting into three pieces but they can be reassembled to create good camo. Thanks chooknchunk for a good cache. It earns a favourite from us.
Hatzofff and I are now on a short six night break from QOGM 2019 preparations, and have three of those nights in the Raglan area with chooknchunk. Thanks guys!
Today was our second day, and we explored some caches in the Raglan to Waubra to Beaufort area.
Learning more and more every day - thanks to our fabulous hobby! I do know about how Vegemite is made - a tour of the Beenleigh (QLD) Brewery taught us what happens to left over yeast!
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 10.20 AM on 24th August 2019. TFTC, chooknchunk.

That was fun! And I wasn’t aware of this fascinating bit of our history. Who doesn’t love Vegemite? Well Muggle Hubby, dalerious and I are all happy little vegemites, as bright as bright can be, we all love finding geocaches every day you see.
Thanks for happy little vegemite smiley faces on our maps.

I came to Beaufort for an event, and went home with 38 smiley's - what a great weather we had for caching. Nicely hidden, although the top is now in three separate pieces. However, that doesn't detract from the camouflage. Found with Alansee and au.fait.
Thanks to chooknchunk for the cache.

After making a start on finding some of the new wherigos in the area, family Perpetuallylost decided to head further afield for a bit more sightseeing and so headed up to Waterloo and Mt Lonarch. I love my Vegemite and there was no way i was going past this cache without finding it. A FP for the hide and the container, very appropriate! Another great cache chooknchunk!
Found while out and about with au.fait and muzza today. I knew the story about Par Will before although I am not sure where from. The GPS said 15m at GZ and then slowly came down to a much more respectable 3m.
Having completed the Musical Gully series it was time for Alansee Muzza and myself to continue the never ending search Heading towards home but still caches to find and an event to attend in Geelong yet Enjoyed this story about vegemite and I still 'adore' this typically Aussie substance TFTC and a favourite point coming your way
Lived the history here and the well themed container.

Headed west for a short break and decided to take the country roads rather than the hwy.
Day two of my break had me leaving Lexton and heading south west today.
Continuing on my journey and how could I not find this one especially now it is back in Aussie hands.
I have done the one at the factory and now the one at the home of the inventor Cyril.
A fav goes out to you.

Mostly good safe hides and mainly quick finds.
Another must visit site just for the pure importance of the inventor.

After attending the event in Beaufort, Benjay21 and I headed out to collect a few smilies. Had seen this sign on a previous visit to the area but didn't have time to stop for all the caches. Thanks so much for sharing the history of your area as well as a wonderfully hidden cache - a FP.
I am forever being astounded by the history of the areas surrounding Ballarat. After attending the event in Beaufort joojoo57 and I headed out into the "scrub". I certainly did not know that the founder of Vegemite was born in this place. Thank you for bringing me here

Certainly not for burning. Love the hide. The lid has fallen apart, but it still works fine. Now I’m seriously late for my meeting, but had fun exploring this area. TFTC
Today we had 2 main caches in our sights to help towards the Ausmer Challenge! Now that we had found them both we could concentrate on other caches that we had ignored on the way to Forte's Ground, this was the first of those. GMelb found the nice thematic cache whilst I was still sorting out TB's to drop off. Clever cache name too. I didnt know that about Vegemite, so that was cool to learn! Dropped TB

Cyril Mite, Par Will & Rod did.
Feeling a tad seedy this morning I decided to forego the usual brekfast of a blueberry smoothie and grabbed a couple of Ryvita with a liberal coating of Vegemite. A great way to start the day. Certainly put a rose in my cheeks.

It seems to be a chooknchunk cache run on the way home today. Loved the info on the cache page and also the container. Vegemite will always win over marmite in my opinion. Had no idea that it was such a close to home inventor.
