This cache came to my attention via a bookmark, so while in Sydney for a very brief work visit, I made a beeline for this location for an after hours icon. Armed with a mini tripod, I had to wait out wandering muggles before snapping the pics, but managed all the same.
Nice to see an aged and rare icon still available, I am a big fan of them.
Cheers GeoMonkeys.

We have headed south a few weeks early to have a little holiday prior to attending the Oz Geomuster Mega event and found ourselves spending a few days in Sydney While we were there, we made sure to allow some time to search for a few specific caches which would help us to fulfill some challenges we had set ourselves
Completing this webcam was one of our objectives and it was interesting visiting this area. Unfortunately, The Rocks webcam was done for maintenance today, but we have attached a photo as previous finders have done.
Thank you GeoMonkeys for this webcam cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Thanks for the cache!

Thanks for this cache I have included a photo to claim it. Happy for you to delete it GeoMonkeys if you dont accept it as a found it log. Pity that all these Webcam caches are now archived. Makes it had for the new cachers like me.
It's the seventh of March and tonight a new 'Found It' log was posted for this webcam - how wonderful. Just a shame it is dated as 27 June 2013. I personally like accruing 'long unloved' days/months/years, so thought it mighty convenient that this now drastically reduced that period before Net88 and my legitimate find. As stated in my online 'Found It' log, we sought the CO's permission and took a number of attempts for the webcam to actually take our photo.
While I do not doubt that the geocacher/s in question visited Syndey on the date claimed, you'd think it'd be a good idea to post a screenshot of the webcam's view at least - if nothing else, than to comply with the whole idea of a webcam. They have attached some lovely photos of the Sydney Opera House, which would seem like they almost constitute adequate, but not when the exif data on those photos reveals them to be 70 metres and 325 metres from the posted co-ordinates.. or even farther from the actual webcam itself. Great photos of the opera house, and very convenient they were taken, but it certainly seems to me that they were never taken with this webcam in mind and convenient for discovering this findable webcam years after the fact.
Call me petty and call me a 'wannabe reviewer' or the log polive, but seriously, it is this exact dodgy logging that gets archived geocaches and our extremely rare types (such as webcams) locked and unable to be logged by those who legitimately seek them. I will be ignoring the log from June 2013 for the purposes of my statistics, as I encourage other legitimate finders to do.
I also strongly encourage the CO to simply delete what is very likely a bogus log from international visitors who took some tourist snaps in vaguely the same area. Reviewers, please do not take this user's actions as the norm, rather as something that annoys everyone else who fairly plays this game as much as it annoys you.

If you look hard enough online it is amazing the number of webcams you can see in Sydney, from surf cams to weather cams, some you can operate and others that have a HD view of the harbour. How sad that Webcams got grandfathered all those years ago. With only one ever published in Queensland and this Sydney trip being my first so far from home, I've only ever found one before and very keen for this one.
Naturally, when Net88 and I were headed to Sydney I had a look for such listings. Even though some fellow Queensland mates had been to the Bondi Cam, it has since been forcibly locked - not accepting new log entries. However, I did spot this potentially still possible webcam smack dab in the middle of town. I hunted around for an appropriate webcam and found a very similar view from the same website listed in the the description, just on a different page the image is very similar to someprevious logs. It is a live stream from youtube, embedded here: http://www.therocks.com/webcams
So with that seeming quite legitimate to log, I messaged the geocache owner who gave full permission to log the find - 'if you fancy finding an archived webcam cache, then go right ahead'. In the days leading up to heading to Sydney the stream did go offline, but was thankfully fixed and it became a personal priority for our week in Sydney.
After getting off the plane and catching a train to Circular Quay, this was our first stop. Oh my, I now understand why views of Sydney Harvour are world famous. However, there was an issue, being that the camera was offline again. Right, we'll leave it for a bit. After a few other adventures around Sydney, we returned at about 17:00 and all was working again.
Net's smartphone didn't want to stream in any appreciable resolution, so we went old school and called a geocaching friend from Queensland to get the screenshots. He spotted us in frame and got a shot of me even waving at the camera. A few extra selfies and I think that's enough. All of these photos shall be attached as proof of the find.
What amazes me is that no New South Wales locals have logged this one since it was archived, and indeed the last finder was a Queenslander too - 2875 days ago! This is only my second ever 'Webcam Photo Taken' and both of them have been on archived listings - a bit of a crime they were ever archived, but it is understandable. A great find, logged with permission - thanks to GeoMonkeys for allowing the find and setting it up all those years ago

I had organised a trip to Sydney for Captain Terror and I. As the trip got closer he showed me this cache. A webcam with a still working webcam linked to it.. interesting. A quick email was sent and soon we had approval from the cache owner to log it since it was still available.
Today Captain Terror and I arrived in Sydney. We went to the hotel to check in then came straight here. The webcam had frozen. Damn! We still have 5 days so we will keep an eye on it.
After lunch it was working again so we headed over there from the Museum of Sydney. My phone wasn't playing the stream with the greatest definition so we called in reinforcements back home to take the screenshot for us. We were there for about 15 minutes and I have a lovely sunburn to prove that.
I am very happy that this cache is still available as the rarer grandfathered icons are my favourite to find. Thanks for the cache GeoMonkeys, I will add our photos to my log.

The 18th of 25 finds (actually a photo shot really) 3 DNF and one DNA (did not attempt) on our 4 day trip to Sydney and return.
No-one to take a shot through the web cam, so have done like a few others, and had a nice couple (Americans from the visiting ship I think) take a photo of me with my trusty GSP and the Bridge in the background.
Thanks for a fun cache, although not finished with web cam.
Cheers,

Found this on 01 Feb 2008 - it was Cache number 186. Eight years later the log was deleted without discussion, and so I am reinstating it again. Alas I have lost my photo due to the deletion.
Awesome cache which I hope enjoys its new life.

Well we did try to do the right thing for this one !! My curious but helpful friend on the computer attempted to get the Webcam working to zero in on me but it wasn't playing the game today. May have been the weather not helping out.
I had a backup sign in order to get a photo of me and it took a while to get someone to stop in the rain to take it for me ! Finally a visiting American helped out and when he saw the sign he went "Oh Geocaching - My Brother is into that" - Made life a little easier to explain !
Thanks for an interesting and slightly frustrating experience - and the chance to log a Webcam Cache...

I had everything set up to take the Photo but once at GZ the Web Cam didn't even work, so I got the trusty portable camera out and took a photo with the bridge in the background...

I have been there together with eles78 an also took a picture with my camera. There it is. T4TWC
Found this one on our holiday trip during our stay in Sydney.
The weather was fine and caching down under was great fun for us.
Too sad the cam was offline.
We made pictures of us to approve that we were at the spot.
Hope that´s ok, and the cam will work again soon.

This was our second attempt at a Webcam in Sydney last time it was Bondi this time we were adamant we were going to do it right. We had the inlaws stationed at home ready and willing to take our shot we even practiced but alas the they simply could not get on when it counted. To make up for the lack of genuine webcam ability I held up a largish GC.com sign and my GPS in front of a reasonable number of onlookers to have my shot taken. I'm sure they all thought I'd lost the plot! Anyway thats our attempt hope it meets the requirements?
I rang the posspet boys whilst i was sitting at GZ. unfortunatly the web cam was off, so the best that i could do was a pic
I HAVE BEEN HERE A LOT SO I THINK THAT IT WILL BE OK TO LOG THIS ONE IN THIS IS A PIC OF ONE OF THE TIME I HAVE BEEN HERE

I was up in this fair city for a week on business, and took the opportunity to do a bit of caching whilst in town. I was on foot, and tried calling around some of my caching buddies to see if I could find someone to record my visit on the webcam. By the time I arrived, I had left a couple of messages, but had no responses.
Once there, I gave Biggles Bear a call and found them home. BB#1 did the honours, but unfortunately the webcam was down. I did take some photos on my phone (i.e. lo resolution) to prove my visit was genuine. Once back in Melbourne I checked the webcam myself, and it was still unavailable. It is a great spot, and not one that I'd visited before. Thanks Geomonkeys, for bringing me here and showing me this spot.

It was a lovely day, when we get there and we were not sure where webcam was at so we contacted Sevabo's sister Everlasting by sent text message and asked her to find us but it took us a long while to response each other until she found us on the spot. You can see Sevabo and myself by arrows. Thanks
we went there and very difficult to get the photo because we couldnt talk on mobile so it was our hassle by text message. hope you could see me and my friend Skyejam. blue and white top near the round road. hope you can see it
Passing though, had forgotten about this one
A quick call to the missus on the run
No practise and warning, she fumbled away
The third attempt looked OK
A moment later, I was approached by pretty in pink
A little flirting as the wife watched, couch again, I think
What a cool idea, I will find another

success, despite my fathers obvious inability to make the webcam zoom. With GPS in one hand, geocaching.com hats on, and phone to my ear the photo was taken. You have to trust us on this one !!!
Rang my web-contact in Perth (ain't the 'Net amazing) 15 mins before arrival at GZ to ensure success but horror of horrors! Webcam off line and mobile phone with camera broken .
Fortunately a passing local artist was able to provide a quick sketch to authenticate my find.

I was worried my mobile phone would run out of power as I talked my brother through this one. He was in Melbourne and thank you 1000 times to him.
Made a special banner which read "bainsworld" on the top line and "www.geocaching.com" on the bottom line. Arranged for rc211e to snap it at 12:15pm 29/9/06 but he was "indisposed" so emergency call to Dawesy got him on the job but then he was foiled by pop-up blocker when he clicked the button to take a snap! rc211e got in contact so he snapped one then Dawesy worked out that you hold down the button when you click to over-ride the pop-up blocker (see previous logged problem).
Anyway, we got there as you can see me on the road but if you want to see the banner, check out Philma's Litter Bin where I went to dispose of it... As always, TFTC.

Having helped Bainsworld at lunchtime I was surprised to be in the area on official work duties the same afternoon so it made sense to "do the snap" while I was there! Called Bainsworld but his network was slow so dialed another friend and cacher DOSM who snapped us. Thanks dude!
Thanks Geo Monkeys

Dear GeoMonkeys,
We found your cache today at 2:15pm as the fifth of thirteen on the third day of our Sydney Trip. We had "K" on the phone for ages and she could not get the click photo button to work. I tried again once back home and it won't work for me either. We snapped a shot at GZ so hopefully this will suffice. Thanks for the cache.
Kind Regards,
D & H B-A

Glad we printed out the Geocahing sign...
Anyway, an almost perfect spring day to be around the harbour so it's all good.
An interesting exercise in remote logistics, and I made sure I picked up some flowers for Geo-wife on the way home.

Great location, but the quality of the webcam images leaves a little to be desired . I was able to log this one while on a business trip in Australia. I got the nearby Campbell's Cove and a couple of others, then gave this one a try. My wife tracked me on the camera to the bottom left hand corner. You can barely tell, but it's me in the white shirt. I didn't have a Geocaching sign handy, but I was jumping up and down enough to prompt the nearby diners to think I was nuts. And all for a cache . With the help of "neutiquam erro" we were able to get this picture. Kind of fun to be IM'ing someone half way round the world to take a low resolution photo of oneself saying "cheese".
Got the whole family in on this one at 12:30 (I'm on the right).

We tried and tried to get this photo, but the website was down and we couldn't explain to the guy on the other end of the phone how to get around it. With only a half hour to spend in Sydney we just snapped a photo of the building the webcam is on and then us at the spot we would have been in the webcam photo. Hope all this counts!

It was strange to be in Sydney, Australia phoning my daughter in California, USA to take a picture of us. Had a worker from the nearby restaurant ask us why we kept waving our hands in the air. It was only after we told her and the picture had already been taken that she pointed to the camera. We were all facing the wrong direction but the picture is so far away you can't tell anyway
I'd done some practise on the cam, and had intended to show Liz how to do the camera part. Unfortunately our laptop decided to die (apparerently terminally) so that was no longer an option. So I tried a call back to a friend in NZ. Luckily he was willing and able to help. After a few tries he managed to work out the cam, but then realised that he couldn't take a picture - either that, or it was disappearing somewhere. But being a resourceful chap, Tony (Kiwitonita) went and grabbed a digital camera, and took a picture of the screen instead. No flags or logos unfortunately - It's a bit hard to organise in foreign lands. I'm standing next to the lamppost with cellphone in one hand and cache sheet in the other.
Well I finally got around to this one. Mrs C.O.D grabbed control of the cam and I waved a banner in the general direction of the cam. You can see me near the green flag near the road with the white banner covering my head. Whilst I looked like an idiot it was fun doing this cache. Thanks Pesky!
I was the cache : )
My brother and sister in law took my picture, when I was discovering Sydney, in a very strange way.
We tried it 3 times on 3 different days, before my brother knew how to operate the camera

Family in the Netherlands watching the webcam and me working in Sydney. Great to finally see the picture.
Saiens Fiksjon in the Netherlands and our sister Aline in Australie: working together to get this cache. And it worked! The picture shows Aline at the waterfront with her hands in the air. Thanks for the opportunity to see her!!
It took a brisk 40 minute walk to get to and from the cache from where I was staying in Sydney but it was very much worth it. Sydney harbour is a beautiful place and I enjoyed sitting and taking in the ambience of it.
Thanks to Big Mick for capturing the photo for me.

That's me - The Broiler - next to the purple flag. Visiting Sydney all the way from Memphis, TN USA. Happened upon the spot before even searching for it. But didn't see where the camera was until Rightee clicked my pic back at home. Thanks!

Well with the gps signal coming and going I estimated this to be as close as I could get to the spot. I have my hand in running this webcam, so I thought I could not pass up the opportunity to complete this cache. I know the zoom's limited, but we've had to limit it for privacy reasons. It's a popular webcam, so be patient with it if you have difficulty with the connection.
As previous logs have stated the picture quality of the webcam is not brilliant. I am on the left and my wife is on the right (obscured by the sign we are holding). I have included a clearer image of the sign that we were holding. I thought it would come out a lot clearer on the webcam, it is at least 12 times the size of an A4 sheet of paper.

We tried to get the Webcam photo, but the U.S. end of had difficulties on the Web end. We could even see the camera! In the end, we settled for a photograph to document our visit. We just could not stand not claiming this one since we were visiting from the United States and it was on our short list of must-visit geocaches! The photo is part of Team Hendron (Dave) holding up the GPSr.
The sort of cache that’s easy if you have someone the other end. Luckily this was possible as I had teed it up in the morning. That’s me in the white shirt with Glen, another conference goer. I had been over in Brighton Le-Sands for a conference the say before. Of course we popped into Sydney before heading home! Thanx to GeoMonkeys.
Clear skies, Astro.
Couldn't zoom in close enough. Maybe they'll change this later on? Possibly an anti-terrorist over-reaction
Managed to get down here after work. Like others have said before me, the picture quality is not spectacular and you can't zoom in all that close anymore. However I have added arrows to the pictures to indicate which is me. I'm the goose wearing black trousers and a red shirt and holding the GPS out in my left hand. Pesky, if these photo's are not of a suitable standard, I'll be happy to withdraw the find. Thanks also to Shaggys who sat at home and was kind enough to capture these images for me.
Was down here today, they may have started using a different camera now as the new camera no longer zooms anywhere near as much as what the previous pics show it can do, and when I played with the camera when I posted my previous note, it certainly was able to do extreme zooms then. There now appears only one spot where you won't be a blurry spot in the picture and that is on the over head road near the P&O terminal, that is the closest you can get to the camera, and be a reasonable size, but, we are still talking SMALL.
I think this one is more fun for the person operating the camera than it is for the goose who has to stand there waving to an imaginary friend. Good to see this one back again, it looks like you can zoom in more than before as the picture is surprisingly clear. I'm holding up a green etrex, looking in slightly the wrong direction because the camera is actually not where I thought it was...
Thanks Geomonkeys

I've been trying for the past 2 months to use the webcam associated with this cache - but it seems it's permanently unavailable.
So...I've just taken a picture of myself (with GPS to prove I'm a cacher) at the co-ords given for this cache, which I hope is all I need to do for this cache.

This was my first trip to Australila and the first cache I found. Unfortunatly I was unable to use the web cam. Insted I have attached two photos my wife took of me on the spot. We then had lunch at a resturant that overlooks this spot and it's two famous landmarks.
Million thanks to my friend Cameron back home in Singapore for his days of practice in controlling the camera. I have planned to visit this place even before I came to Sydney. In the picture is me (white shirt), my wife (brown shirt) and my daughter (in the baby pram). The people on the foreground is queueing to enter a big ship with Italian flag, it looks like a classic ship, see close up picture. We had lunch at nearby Doyle's restaurant, very good smoked salmon and oysters!

OK it's not the best picture in the world, but after 30mins of phone juggling with my wife (who was supposed to be working), this is about as good as its going to get....
The A4 sheet in my hand had GC in very big letters (honest)... I thought it would be readable, but obviously not...
Maybe I should have sacrificed a bed-sheet like the 2 dogs...

Yes the white and black blob in the lower right hand corner is Biggles Bear making the semaphore single for BB (use your imagination, and you'll see it). Unfortunately our trusty helper didn’t realise this thing had a zoom button. And given the Km’s travelled and the money spent we won’t be back for another try for a little while. So we’ve included a photo of our own from the reverse angle.
Strange type of cache, these web cam caches, sort of a double fetish. You have to stand some where holding a sign in a public place while people look at you. So does that make the sign holder an exhibitionist and the cam operator a voyeur? Who knows but it did keep the man in the photo amused and strangely enough he knew what I was doing. A special thanks to the guys & girls N.D Team for taking control of the cam. It helps if you have five computers and operators to juggle between, now all I got to do is come up with a biller code for there time.
after some consideration, and delay by a seroius POC fault,
We have decided to give IDeology a break, and let them have thier find for this cache.
I spent the day checking all the other webcam caches, and many of the images are worse than Ideologies attempt here, so , congratulations Ideology, you just scraped in.
( besides, I know we'll never hear the end of it now, anyway!)

Sorry Guys, Snifter has now left the building....saw you guys zeroing in very good camera control skills there.
Well Finaly we got there. Snifter braved the cold, Hounddog got the easy job. Took quite a while and a much bigger sign, we even had a silly car driver try to park right over the sign, but she never let him get away with it. That's my girl! As you will see SNIFTER prevailed. She's very good at doing silly things and getting away with it.

OK everyone. I am going to try this again. Would all people please get on the webcam site around 9.30pm tomorrow(Tuesday) and see if you can see me. I am going to stand on the roadway in front of the Quay restaurant. If you do and you can get a photo of it then I would be forever gratefull. Even give you some Freddos if you like.
If this is so easy where are the Primates photos?

I have just spent the last 3 hours attempting this with no result. Standing in the rain making about 10 mobile calls as well as parking fees bridge toll and 70kms only to find that when we saved the image it didn't save the image we took.
Did anyone else take a photo or save this afternoons viewing on the webcam between 3.00 and 4.00pm. If you did and you have SNIFTER in the images then please tell us or put them on here for us.
Guess who won't try this again.

Yes, we logged this one from the balcony.
Update:
Monkey, we've changed this to a not found. Can you give us an example of a good photo?

We've changed it to a found based on your note above. Good one, GeoMonkeys!

Hmm, a fuzzy blurry little person, no geocaching logo, ( well not that we can see) I dont think your entry qualifies Ideology! It doesn't meet enough of the criteria listed above, sorry.
try again! ( you can just attach your future attempts into your first log.
