#4223 Today is day 37 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. Today, it rains almost all day. I'm taking it easy and just picking up some geocaches in the area. Found it after getting the FTF at [Look Out! (Hawke's Bay)](https://coord.info/GCAZT82). I did not want to explore a cave in the rain, so it was a park and grab for me.MorganEd, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on November 6, 2024 @ 18:23:06[GC5E4RB] speculation (Hawkes Bay) was a D1.5/T1.5 Other Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
A quick little overnight trip to Hawkes Bay and then up to Taup and back home to find some Adventure Labs and to hopefully qualify for the S39 Challenge.A quick find, but I won't be going through that tunnel! All good here, and thank you to MorganEd for the placement of your Traditional Cache.Find #6670 at 26 April 2024 10:51am
The tunnel are nice and cool on a hot summer's day like today. I'm not sure what you're speculating about since the sign explains what the tunnel was built for.At the end of the tunnel, I was disappointed to learn that I had to trespass through the paddock and climb a barbed wire fence to reach the location. I should have ignored tunnels and all and just take Lindsay Road to the location.
Thanks MorganEd for bringing us to this very interesting local attraction. Found the waterproof logbook tucked into the sign. Signed and put the logbook inside a film container and placed under some stones at the base of the sign. Hopefully more secure now. Local knowledge like this is what geocaching is about, deserves this favourite!
Found on ground… geocache paper only no cache. Note signs have been replaced, painted so maybe somemaintainemcr for cache
Have put paper in metal groove on road sign
Forgot my pen back on bike

Hi. Found the cache today 26th Feb 2022. The road signs have very recently been repainted, signs replaced. We found the geocache log paper on the ground nothing else. So put the log on the sign in the metal groove … sorry didn’t have a spare cache with us
And yes we had bike and grovelled through the tunnel

Biked here with friends from Waipawa along the Tuki Tuki Trail. Realised after going through the tunnel I had left my pen at the bike so I have attached a photo of the coordinates instead.TFTC

Well, speculation indeed - thankfully the cache hide was easily located and we continued our journey around the out of the way places. TFTC

#8444. I am on a trip to southern Hawkes Bay with Infoferret to try and clean out a series of skindo caches in this area and any others along the paths, plus to take in the scenic landscape. After staying overnight in Dannevirke we made our way north and this was the first cache of the day. Nice views of the countryside and an easy find. Signed the log and replaced where found. I had not read cache description before we got here so missed the story about the tunnel. I suffer from claustrophobia so not sure I would be keen on crawling through any tunnel.
making some finds before heading home, thanks for the placement glad the weather stayed nice after over hearing a few people saying it was going to be raining.
Have been staying with cache owner for a couple of nights. Since I was coming down this way I checked on the cache and it was still there so didn't need the replacement one
Unfortunately didn’t find the Cache but nonetheless was a beautiful view and I recommend the tunnel, easy walk and even better view on the other side️
Such a hot sticky day, so much so that the tarseal had melted on the road and and bits of stones and tar were sticking to our shoes while crossing the road to find the cache.
We were so absorbed in finding the cache and getting back into the comfort of the air conditioned car that we totally forgot to look for the tunnel. ThanksFTC. Cheers

Down in the area for a rest with friends and for some caching. The are some interesting caches to be found. TFTC
I'm in Hawke's Bay for the day for a work event. However that only took up the morning, so the afternoon is my own so what to do but get a few caches before heading back home to Palmerston North.
heading back towards Palmerston North now and I've identified a pocket of half a dozen caches around Waipawa, Waipukarau and Takapau that I want to focus on for the trip home. This is a spot with an interesting folly - spotting the size of the tunnel, I didn't fancy crawling through it today, so gave that a miss. The cache was a quick find and the log was damp but still writeable. TFTC

Eventually got to the bottom of this one and found cache was all fine. Intrigued by the tunnel. Found it surprisingly large inside such that I could walk along it without having to bent down too much. The tunnel is straight with a clear view of the light at the exit. Looks very well made and solid however after 40-50 metres I chickened out and turned back. Sure it’s not for drainage. Maybe the result of a drunken bet at the pub on a Saturday night.
Not sure why you would need a flash light for this, unless you count the orbital photon blaster as one.
Oh well.
The travelling fox is happy =^,^=

We got up a bit late this morning but decided to head towards Hastings way get a few caches got a multi in Woodville and then a few up on the hill side over looking this cache area from afar. Another back road we had never been to before, we were not sure what we were going to find, lucky we got a good parking spot, at ground zero nearly, but to our surprise it was interesting and over looking the farm land, interesting tunnel. maybe a hidden treasure. TFTC signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. cache all good here.
Trying hard to reach a tally of 250 for July to claim a cache in Wairarapa we were running out of days. So, being the last day of the month, and despite the dismal weather forecast, we got up at 6am and were here by 8.30am to start. It was a very long day travelling around the wider Waipukurau, then down to Weber via Porangahau and back to Dannevirke to have fish and chips with my sister at 7.40pm. The last 11 cache attempts were done in the dark which was a first for us, and oh so hard! Got home around 10.45pm to our little dog who thought he had been abandoned forever. A great run and yes we achieved the numbers! It showed up our age as we were totally shattered and both struggled to find enthusiasm for work on Monday. Too many finds for individual logs so thanks to everyone who placed the caches found on the route.
What an interesting history re this one. We found a cache lying exposed on the road. It did not exactly match the previous logs on the computer but we signed it and replaced it where we thought it ought to be. As to the hole in the hill ... many years ago a local farmer was at the pub drinking tequila (with a worm) and by the end of the night he was very drunk and got to wondering what it would be like to be a worm wiggling your way through the earth, so that very night he decided to make a human worm hole through the hillside to find out! And that is how the hole came to being.

We decided to head down this way from Napier to grab a few of the caches we had missed on our previous visit. This was our 6th for the day. Initially we drove straight past it, as the GPS needed to catch up to us, so we found a safe place to do a U turn, and then realised there was no where to park, so U turned again, and eventually found a safe parking spot.
Cache was quickly found, but container slightly rusty, and log was damp. We managed to sign it anyway.
Unfortunately I didnt actually read the cache description until I got home, so we never looked for the tunnel, but didnt spot it anyway.
TFTC.

Nice asy cache since it had been replaced. The hole in the hill is looking a bit over grwn now, I wonder if its actually doing anything now? TFTC
The most bizarre out of our 30 finds today! Parking was tricky, and walking back to the cache was a little nerve wracking with such little verge to walk on. I couldn't even see the tunnel until treasure hunting Tim pointed it out to me, I was looking in the immediate cache area! Then upon arriving at gz I nearly stepped on a cach just lying on the ground. Went to put it back where i thought it would go, and found a second cache. Hmmmm not sure!?! We signed both anyhow. Tftc
Mmmm we are really not sure about this tunnel but we weren't game enough to crawl through it. Thanks for the cache
Stopped off for look for the cache, but came away empty handed. I noticed that the posts have been painted recently which may have resulted in cache going missing.
Nice quick find with Just-Lookin while on the way to the Hawkes Bay area.
