nup no joy here. story of our geocaching this trip in this area. hard work when you cant find them. see its july last year last found.
Turn around time. I'll leave the stop-bank ones for when i've got better tyres on.
End of the road for us too! The map indicated a walking track down near the river but we couldn't find any indication or signage. Found the cache OK although the log papers are getting tatty. Presumably the CO is not local so a bit of TLC with a clean-out by a local cacher and a new log wouldn't go amiss just to keep this cache active.

After being confined to the caravan for 36 hours due continuous rain the decision was made to pack up and head south from Waikawa Bay for clearer weather. Once we got to Tuamarina Yahoo we were out of the rain. The decision was then made to park up for a couple of nights and go caching. The main targets would be those mystery caches I had solved and needed signing off plus finish off some multis and nearby trads.
Was in the area so just had to go find this cache. TFTC. Cheers.

This was where our gps got shut down for a short while so it could rest as it was giving us 124m from the cache where the phone was giving us 3m. It was probably overheating again. Cache was a quick find. tftc
Nearly the end if the road for us. Cycled around the river trail and came out here. Thanks for the cache Woodfamilyinnz
#6154. I have several work meetings in Blenheim so have come over from Wellington for a few days for a combination of work and leave. Picked up a rental car and headed to the hotel to drop off my gear. There was Just enough time to grab a few caches today. So travelled up to Spring Creek to pick up several in this area. Nice quick find here. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here woodfamilyinnz.
Nice little side road. Quick find.

Quickly found today with hingis20. In NZ from Victoria, BC, Canada visiting family in Blenheim for a while and geocaching. TFTC
Our first time exploring around this area - a nice easy find tftc. we spent some time watching three fishermen across the river - unforunately for them they went home empty handed
Found cache then made a new horsey friend, till the electric fence bit us both thru me!

A quick find with a nosy turkey close by. There was a real cacophony from the birds in the near-by trees, didn't recognize the call though - sounded a bit like small parakeets?
Out geocaching on the east side of SH1 between Pukaka Valley and Blenheim with Kiwimykl. There was a car parked nearby as we approached GZ, so we carried on and did Wairau Bridge View, then came back. Kiwimykl already has this one which could have made it easier for me, but I didn't need his help for a QEF.

On my last few trips to Blenheim I've carried a list of the caches my other "team" members have found so that I can leave as many as possible for us all to do together on another excursion. This is one of the ones they have previously found. TFTC #7278
I had a spare couple of hours this afternoon so decided to go and pick up some more caches in the Spring Creek/Wairau Bar area that I didn't have time to get yesterday. I was planning on heading out to the Wairau Bar area first, but a car that I had been following all the way from town at 80 km/hr decided to head that way (some old farts having their Sunday drive on a Monday), so I came here first.
My trusty eTrex 20 gave an audible signal as the cache approached, but I missed the turn-off so drove on by until I came to a safe place to turn around. It turned out that this was the entrance to a massive equestrian centre that I had no idea existed, so once again Geocaching is responsible for expanding my knowledge.
As for the cache, it was located in a setting familiar to rural caches and was a QEF PnG.

Driving Christchurch to Picton, picking up some more minutes for my 400 minute challenge. Most finds were park & grab. Last of 42 for the day. Thanks for the cache.
On our tour through New Zealand we visited many inspiring places, enjoyed delicious meals, met friendly locals and tourist AND found some Caches.
So this Cache was one on our trip. Thanks a lot for hiding and maintaining.

TFTC. Driving out from The Sounds with flobberworm! And decided to spend a night at Spring Creek on the way home.
Planned to grab a couple of caches but made short work of that as it was teaming with rain.
Thanks to woodfamilyinnz for placing the cache.

Driving home and miss pricelessnz was asleep so thought I would take scenic route. Another road I have driven past lots and never been down. TFTC
I had a great Waitangi Day out caching in the area today. Definitely a first time to this place for me. All good with the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
We spent some time on the see-saw this morning wondering "shall we" or "shan't we". "Shall we" won. So a few caches went on the to-do list. No problems here neither with the cache nor with the drizzle trying to make an impact on the parched earth. Thank you Woodfamilyinnz for placing this cache. It helped make us explore an area we haven't been before.
We had procrastinated for some time this morning whether we would head to Marlborough then an unexpected visitor delayed things a bit longer but eventually we hit the road for a leisurely cache finding drive around this area. This was one of several we found today. Thank you woodfamilyinnz.
Holidaying at the top of the South Island with tmann421. Many thanks to all the CO's for making this a memorable trip.

As we approached GZ, we saw a guy walking along the road - we had seen him earlier in the morning when we were driving along Rapaura Rd towards Awarua Park so he had come quite a distance since then. He gave us an odd look as we drove up and parked behind him, then disappeared over the rise in the direction we would be heading after finding this cache. We wondered if we would pass him again (and what his reaction would be as we appeared to be following him) but we didn't see him again so he must have walked on the side road to the river.
A quick find at GZ then off the find the next cache. TFTC.

Found this with the Gray family on our way to Rarangi......all safe and sound, tftc
2degrees coverage let us down here, but managed to geocache our way to finding this geocache. Swimmers in the river on our way here. Cheers!
The first day of Summer is upon us and what a scorcher to start us off this year, not. It was jacket on all day today at work and jersey after work was the order of the (chilly) day.
Decided I need to keep my little streak going, Geocaches that is, not lack of clothes and invading sports events!
Put my fishing gear into the car as you never know when you're near the river, and later the diversion, whether the fish are running................. or just running away/swimming away. Saw this cache get posted a few weeks ago now when I used to live on another island not that far away (not Stewart Island)
No problems with the find and pleased that the next and nearest is on a road that links to this one. I too believed this cache was connected with the English batsman and Ashes hero Sir Ian Beefy Botham.
But it's not. It's named for a road. Nice, just not as swashbuckling.................................................. How do you swash a buckle by the way?

Mrs Sobad just assumed there would be a cricket ground involved - the main cricket lover was at home watching a game. Until she was directing the driver using autorouting and spotted the real reason for the cache title.
The cache was just where her GPS said it would be.
Thanks.

Over from Nelson for a day's caching, and a great day it has been too. For some reason, my device initially led me in the wrong direction so then all I had to do was investigate what Mrs SoBad was up to and sign the log . Thanks for the hide .
Easy find and logged while having a cuppa. Never been here before so had decided it would be a good starting point for a nice walk down the diversion. Got past the bridge on Chaytors road before turning back. Lots of whitebaiters enjoying the nice day but getting nothing!TFTC.
[green] Haven't been on the bike for a week or so, so I decided to escape the confines of the Air Force base and head out on the bike to try for the empty log book at Wairau Bridge View, just down the road from this cache. After all, it has been sitting there for a few days, someone one will try for it soon. I get here and.. Oh dear... Weka signed the log here earlier today. Which means they will have gone on to Wairau Bridge. Maybe I should have come out yesterday as I had originally planned. But we had I.E - Interior Economy - cleaning - to do, which ate into available cycling time. Oh well. I'm here anyway. May as well pay Wairau Bridge View a visit anyway. In the end I visited all seven caches around here, and still got back to base before sunset.
Second-to-find - does that count for anything?!? Hadn't been out here for a long time - thank you for bringing us back!
Wee smile here....I had looked at a spot further on a few days ago with intention of returning.
And yip, the Equestrian centre is looking good.
Easy find with good co-ords.
thanks woodfamilyinnz for the cache
