Checked on this as a recent implied it was missing.Cache is exactly where it belongs and was last signed by ConnieandRick & Muzza

13-Oct-24
i think i found it but it seems to have been stolen, i could be looking in the wrong spot

01-Aug-24
A two stage multi made Muzza groan when I suggested we do it and whilst I spotted the info at WP 1, he had a bit of difficulty. When we calculated WP2 the location had me worried, but Muzza felt it was correct. Glad we had the car to get there, the calculation for GZ was quickly made and Muzza made a quick find as I meticulously worked my way looking at the wrong place. Today I seem to have given out more than half a dozen FPs, and here goes another one.

Out for another day with ConnieandRick to grab a few caches that I haven't found previously. I had a series of 6 End of the Line caches in and around Melbourne, placed at the ends of former railway lines, back when it was a main form of transport. So this one piqued my interest. Once we did the calculations at both waypoints, our search for the cache began. It took a few minutes, but the cleverly camouflaged was eventually found. Thanks to bucketeer for the cache. It gets a favourite from me for the hide.

We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are staying in Portland for a few days, wandering around the area enjoying the amazing sights this area has to offer. An interesting multi, thank you. LNCU.

I like trains. I didn't know these blocks existed and the discovery of them through this cache was a joy. I'll be looking for them now at every station I found the first while walking into town. On calculating the next way point I thought I'd leave it for the next day when I would drive there, as there was much to do on my current route. I arrived at Waypoint 2 just before dusk, it was eerie, it reminded me of Edward Hopper's "Gas" with the light and the cold. I couldn't find the block I was eager to take some photos to capture the eerie-ness of the recently discarded landscape. This led me to be standing almost in front was what I sought. The final waypoint, as you say, is close by. I touched something to push it aside, and I felt the tingle of success. The cache is hidden in a way that is sympathetic to its surroundings. I love it.This cache gets a fav point from me. It moved me in a very special way. This town does. For instance, There is the brutal, tough metallic port, full of strength and power during the day. Then as the sun goes down, this very same place becomes a warm, gentle glittering light display, with reflections lightly bouncing on the sea and surrounds such a beautiful juxtaposition.

Was excited to see the tram go past while we were at WP1. And it was full of muggles. Might be worth a ride if we didn't have so many caches to do in town.GZ was interesting. Mr Beetle's middle name is Fredrick and it was a real case of Blind Freddy here when he actually had the cache in hand and didn't realise. He even placed it back with the cache side exposed and didn't see it, I wandered back past and spotted the exposed cache straight away. Thanks bucketeer for an interesting multi and a nifty final cache hide.

Found after camping out at Lake Leake for the night, heading south-east towards our next destination at Johannah Beach on the Great Ocean Road. Stopped off at Portland during the day to search for a few caches on our way along the coastline. Thanks for the cache bucketeer!

solved after the 2016 mega on the way home but then it was a dnf at the final. It was dusk and i was hungry for dinner so i didn't look to long way back then. This time we looked and found after a search. nice work on the cammo here, blends in nicelyFound with Mogni. I think this is the most changed trip in the planning stage that i have ever been on. The " original trip " was supposed to start on the 31st of dec but at the start of decemeber life changed and the trip was now starting on the 26th of decemeber and all accommodation that had booked cancelled and now see what else is free on the ealier dates. A major readjust of plans and got 1/2 the trip booked before the next curve ball came in to alter the plans again. More adjusting the plans again and i realized i could host 2 CITO's in 2 different LGA's in victoria. What we do to qualify for victorian challenge caches. Also i got my 20, 000 cache over in victoria in this trip. It was decided in the end that the 4x4 was going to be the vechicle for this trip that way we could go and target all the caches that you never get, the ones down the sandy/rocky/dirt and forestry roads/tracks. We left Adelaide and headed to Casterton for a couple of days, then to Budj Bim National Park ( and saw 5 koalas in the camp ground high up in the trees ), then over Heywood, a night in Mount Gambier plus there attended the 3rd CITO of the trip before sending a few nights in Millicent and then finally home. Over 250 caches found plus 86 lab caches. Mogni also got her 11th D/T loop. I also got 3 more victorian LGA's up to 20 finds mininium for another victorian challenage cache. If the cache was broken/eaten/smashed it was reaced with a new container and if the logsheet was wet it was replaced and if the log was full or almost full extra log sheets were added to the cache.

Found on a visit to Portland to grab a few caches for the Wheel of Challenges. Nice hide.

Thanks for the Multi-cache bucketeer Smile

We enjoyed the history associated with this cache. Once at GZ the location of the cache was tricky. In fact we came back a second time after reading the logs carefully and lucked it in. Tricky. TFTC.

28-Mar-23
Found on a day spent targeting some caches of interest between Port MacDonnell and Warnambool.

After collecting the required information and calculating the final coordinates, it was a quick find at GZ not too far away.

Container and contents are in good condition.

Thanks bucketeer for the cache.

27-Nov-22
Here at Portland we have found a few more in the area and this was one of them.

At the waypoints we collected all the required information that gave us the finals. Yep a sneaky hide, had to have a second look before we had GZ, Cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Well I was now supposed to be on my 6 week adventure up to Outback Queensland but with my knee failing me I just had to turn back around and head home.
So after 3 weeks of rest at home I was getting cabin fever so for the last week I just had to get out so Western Victoria beckoned so I could grab a few LGA’s and UBD Country VIC maps which would not involve a lot of walking.
So after attending the International Geocaching event in Lara yesterday I got up early this morning and off I went.
With all of the recent heavy rain everything is just soaked and you have to be careful not to leave the road or tracks.
Well I have reached as far as I’m going today so it is like the end of the line for me as well as I’m turning around and heading back towards Melbourne.
I had a good look for this one and just bypassed GZ on my first attempt so after walking around a bit I had a much better look and soon had the very clever and sneaky cache in hand.
So far 3 LGA’s and 2 maps down.
A fav goes out to you for this one.

Thanks bucketeer TFTC.

Lovely clear skies and gusty winds have determined our sight seeing in the area today.
Our goal of logging 31multi’s this month was helped along with several enjoyable multis including this one. The final gz was an interesting spot and a clever hide.
Thank you for your cache and adding to our road trip memories. A favourite from us.

On our way to Portland for a couple of nights. In town and grabbing a few caches in the gorgeous winter sun. I'd been here before for the trad, happy to come back and work out the multi. Awesome hide, favourite point added! Thanks for the cache bucketeer.

In the area for work for a few days, actually going home sooner due to the 4th lockdown.
But had sometime for caching before hitting the road.

This was one the caches I did whilst here, cheers for the cache.

Very clever hide!

A small bit of history left begging to find and use to calculate the required numbers. After visiting each waypoint the cache was soon in hand. TFTC

Found at 11:00 AM GAFF2.
We thought that we mucked up the co-ords for WP2 until we searched at a different angle. We then made up for the time delay by finding the cache nearly straight away - nice sneaky hide btw Wink
Thanks bucketeer.

14-Oct-20
These are interesting stones and make for a perfect multi experience. I started this one yesterday and this morning drove to WP2.
The hide was a tad tricky but I expected that, trusted the coords and made my find.
Thanks for this one Bucketeer

Looking for a cache to do on our lunch break in Portland today, and also needing a cache beginning with E for a challenge cache, this one filled the bill perfectly.
Thanks to exact coordinates it was an easy task for me to find the waypoints, and Muggle Hubby made short work of finding the cache, for us to add our names to the log.
Thankyou for helping to retain an important part of Portland’s history for future generations of Geocachers

30-Sep-18
Found on another road trip with Dr Owl, this time focussing on multi's with other caches thrown in along the way.

What the Owl says, we loved the stages and the final location.

Thanks for the cache bucketeer.

30-Sep-18
This multi ticked all the boxes for Owl and Sushilord - relevant waypoints that told a story and a final location that was meaningful. Really enjoyed the history as well. Owl even had a Fish to do all the physical work! Definite favourite for Owl.

Quick find at WP1 , not so quick at WP2, but soon after that the cache was soon in hand

First day in Portland with BettyBoo3747, The Morris, and beckNmonts.
Today we started with some diving in the morning, and a bit of caching in the afternoon.

An interesting bit of rock here, with interesting history.
It is always a bit sad to see what has happened to the railway system in this state.
We collected our numbers and headed off to the next way point, and then onto the final.
Nice hide.
Now to get ready for the event tonight.
Thanks, Robmc.

We are in Portland for a few days with Robmc, BettyBoo and beckNmonts.
After some of the party went scuba diving this morning and then lunch we headed around town doing some caches. We really enjoyed the wander along the foreshore gathering the information and heading off to the final. Nice hide - we all missed it on the first couple of passes but trusted the coordinates.
It was a fun day thanks bucketeer

The plaques are very interesting. I like that they have the distance in each direction. Some time
Was spent at GZ, with some police checking that we weren’t up to no good. Great hide at GZ, a favourite from me. TFTC bucketeer

#14186. Our first day in Portland and after a quiet morning wandering around town with the geodogs we all went out to gather up a few caches in the afternoon.

Another cache with history attached - so much history here in Portland. I admired the bluestone wall nearby and the carving of the numbers engraved into the huge block. We converted the numbers into some new coordinates and off we went to the second stone. So nice to see the platform in an intact state. Such beautiful bluestone blocks. Recalculated and started the search at GZ. A sneaky nasty piece of work here, but good though. Favourite point for the multi, bringing these great old stones to our attention and for the tricky hide.

Thanks bucketeer

Thanks for the cache, nice hide.
Another part of Portland I had never been to on my visits here.

23-Nov-17
Oh wow. A great hunt.

So we rolled up at GZ and looked and looked. I bypassed the spot and actually had it in y hand and replaced it. I was beginning it was going to be the end of the line for this one but no. The signal went green and we had the cache in hand! Love your work. Razz

Found as part of my 2017 Alexandra Mega experience.Smile This cache added to the fun and enjoyment of my trek to the east and back from Adelaide. While there were a few thunder storms, there were mainly clear skies and I never saw a snake! SurprisedBig Grin

Thanks to bucketeer and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

After finding the necessary waypoints went home to do the calculations as light was fading fast. When final waypoint was obtained I became very annoyed that I did not do it whilst at the waypoint. Oh well - with tonight's dismal weather no one was around so back I went to find the very cleverly camouflaged cache. Top job and TFTC (favourite from me)

scramping & I were in Portland today collecting a few caches...we had planned this day some time ago...the weather was bright & sunny this morning & early afternoon so we were having a lovely time...
We found WP1 & WP2 using the numbers provided...
Somehow we had written down the numbers incorrectly & had us several hundred metres away...there was nowhere there to hide a cache as it seemed to be leading us into private property...
Back to WP2 to check the numbers...ah!!ha!! the error was noted...we had a chuckle when realising where GZ was...
It took some time to find the clever hide...I had even checked that spot and had my hand on it...if it was a snake it would have bitten me...
scramping rechecked the same spot, she almost missed it but spied it at the last minute...
OMG!!! a fantastic disguise...

On a caching day catch-up, in & around Portland with hevwalker we were lucky to have perfect weather for most of the day. We were able to find W1 and W2 using the numbers but a oops of writing a couple of numbers down incorrectly had us a long way from GZ. On our return to check the numbers we found where we went wrong and laughed when we realised where GZ was. We searched and re-searched the area and I nearly replaced it without knowing I had it in hand... I showed hevwalker and she laughed with disbelief as she had had it in hand only moments before me. Very clever hide. Definitely a fav point coming your way for this adventure. TFTC

25-Mar-17
Yeh!
Found on the ground... What a challenge, replaced where it appears to have come from.
We started working on this last night and were only 9m from GZ at about 11pm.
As this was the 'just one more cache' and Mr Riddell was getting grumpy, especially when it started to rain.
So a unified decision to attack this one today in the light was successful.
Tftc, history and challenges.

12-Mar-17
We found the numbers to do the calculations and we thought they were good. We were at our calculated GZ and were looking, looking and looking. It turns out hubby had the cache container in his hands three times before he realised he had the cache container, he turned his boy look into a girl look and we had a good laugh, well I did anyway. After attending the 8 Months to Alexandra Event, we spent the afternoon with a group of friends caching our way around the town. Nicely themed cache with another great hide, well deserving of a Fav point.

Apologies for the late logs, we are still catching up after an almost fatal computer meltdown.

Thanks bucketeer for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Today we were caching with Alansee, Macamob, Phetlern & Liz and Bruce.
We cache untill it was time to attend the event. Afterwards we contiued to drive around the area caching & tiki touring as we went.
Had made a mistake in the workings, so it was a return to WPT 1 to start again. Found at a very suitable location.
Thanks for placing this cache bucketeer

Here in Portland for the event. Great to get together with a larger group and do these varied caches and hides. Beautiful scenery and a location we very much enjoyed. Found by Mary & David, with Phetlern, Alansee, Liz and Bruce, and Mrs Crackers, at 1515. Went around the waypoints for this cache in the rain. Once we'd done the final calculatioins, we met Hans and Linda at GZ and started searching. A few of us put our hands on the cache but failed to recognise it until Linda spotted the (in hindsight) obvious.Very nicely done. Our thanks to bucketeer.

TFTC. When we were locating Seachange we remembers something about a stone with numbers and distances to Flinders street. Back in the car we bought upo the cache page and calculated the second waypoint. A short drive later and we were at WP2 and finding the required info. Made the calculations. While searching Maccamob asked "haven't you found it yet" meaning the required numbers. We had them we revere searching for the final. I swear I had looked there as eventually 4 sets of eyes searched. Linda calmly extracted the hide. David swears he had also looked there. Must be a Boy look v Girl look thing. By then several other teams arrive. We had returned the hide and let them look. They made quicker work than we did.

I got the multi part sorted OK but the real fun began searching for the cache. Wow, what a tricky, tricky hide. Thanks bucketeer.

We found ourselves with a three day break to play with, so we seized the day and made our way to Portland for a couple of nights.

We had gathered the information at the first waypoint yesterday, and had worked out WP2 on a serviette at the RSL while we were waiting for dinner. However we waited until this morning to complete the cache - our last in Portland for this trip - but definitely not our last ever (we will most certainly be back!!).

This is a really clever and well-themed multi, and it absolutely amazed us that they bothered to set in stone the distances to Flinders Street. The cleverly camoed cache was found by chunk and was in good condition.

Thank you bucketeer for this great little multi.
A fave for all the fun and info you have given us.

Today I decided to drive across to Portland, to visit my sister and her family while they are staying there, geocaching my way there and back. Having found the nearby 'Sea Change' cache, I did some calculations for this one on the run. (Well, on the back of my hand, if truth be told!) The next location was somewhere in the middle of a suburban street, too far back into someone's private residence to be correct! So I went back to the original stone, took a photo of it, and went to my sister's place to work through it properly. The next location made MUCH more sense! My sister said she'd drive, and my 7-y.o. niece, Anna, came along. (Anna loves geocaching!) We got to the new position, and found the next stone straight away. Then we just had to find the cache! My sister had whispered to me that she wanted me to let Anna find it. But none of us were having much luck! Finally, my sister was pulling bits out of here'n'there, and I saw that she was holding the cache! I said, "Oh, you've found it!" She exclaimed, "What?! Oh wow! I would never have noticed that if you had not seen it!" Classic Razz Anna retrieved the log, I wrote our names in it, and she replaced the cache. Thanks for a great adventure, bucketeer! Smile

I am in Warrnambool, camping here with Geo-Sons for our annual 10-days-in-a-tent. A few years ago, they started rolling their eyes and saying, "Do we HAVE to go geocaching?" As we've walked around town over the past couple of days, I've kept saying, "I bet we are walking past geocaches" Sad Well, I think I have got the perfect balance this year! They both have to work in Melbourne this weekend, so I have put them on the train, and now have three days to myself until they return on Monday afternoon! Geocaching - here I come!!! Big Grin

Great way to start this one so nearby to another cache.
Collected the clues, did the maths and moved on.
Collected more clues, did more sums and moved on, but not far.
Really had second thoughts when GZ cords were revealed.
Moved in and searched around, nothing.
Re checked the maths, yep all ok, so more looking at what we had already looked at.
How many times can this happen to me, you know the saying “I have already looked there”
Great little multi, thanks for showing us the history.
Another milestone for me, this being my 800th find.

Knowing we were heading down to Portland today we printed off many multi info sheets in preparation for a day of multiple fun.
We enjoyed the collection of the information for this one and thought the hide was very well executed. Thanks bucketeer for a well set out cache.

Another multi that we completed in our brief stay in Portland. We had noticed the blue stone rock at the initial WP whilst doing another cache. This made life a little easier. The results saw us at a sad looking place that had once meant something to the locals. How on earth did you know about the details at WP2 bucketeer ?

GZ was calculated and inspected closely. Mr's Greynomads suggested I look again at a discounted spot and surprise surprise !!! there was the log book.

Thanks again..

Thanks to bucketeer for the assistance last night, I was able to return this morning and successfully locate this cache. When you are offered a 3 day trip with 3 fantastic geocachers, well NO isn't an option Wink
Hence I spent 3 days around Mount Gambier with Brisal5, Clare007 and CPwanderer and we were joined for some of that time by Mogni and Sabsypat Cool
Only 2 DNF's Sad and 62 Smile finds made for lots of laughs and we also found ourselves in lots of prickly situations amongst the blackberries and the forests.

Yet more interesting history and a quick multi made for an enjoyable time caching after tea Cool

Heading to Mount Gambier for a few days fun, frivolity and caching capers with Locus Cache, Clare007 and CPwanderer. Cool Once there we were joined by mogni and Sabsypat for an incursion across the border into Mexico. [^]
Wow thanks for this cache. I like old railways and history. After finally arriving at GZ with many eyes by torchlight I was having no luck. CPW got lucky and somehow managed to A) pick the right spot and B) the right object to look at. Smile Easy find he says and shows me the hide. Yeah right. Methinks I may well have been here for a long time if it was just me. Red Face Thanks for another clever multicache bucketeer. Big Grin

A few caches in Portland with some SA caching friends before dinner.
It was dark now, CP made the eventual find .

Out for a drive over the border with my brother and his two children. We had to do some shopping in town so after we had eaten and shopped we were keen to do some more exploring and hunting. My brother quickly spotted this one.
Thanks

We were in the Portland area for our annual family Christmas dinner and thought we would pick up a few caches in the area. We started this one on boxing day but perhaps we had had too much Christmas cheer as we made every possible mistake on the calculations you could think of some (and some you probably couldn't think of!). Nothing to do with the cache page, we had just lost the ability to complete simple arithmetic that day. Then at the last way point the skies opened up so we decided to give up and come back another day, which turned out to be today. With nice weather we approached from a different angle which made it a little bit more tricky to find the required information and once that was found we calculated GZ for nice easy find of a very well hidden cache.

Many thanks again bucketeer for an enjoyable multi and an interesting cache page.

05-Dec-15
Found it very difficult

Another fun multi. We walked to this one and luckily found it no worries. Sad that the railways were abandoned.

Day outing to Portland with members of my 4WD club. Snuck to find a few geocaches while others were shopping etc. Thanks bucketeer.

I was in Portland for the day to do some caching. I found the very nearby trad cache and then proceeded to do this one. I never knew about these numbers engraved into stone. The coordinates to WP2 were soon worked out. At WP2, I searched and searched for a similar stone, but was having no luck. I expanded my search area slightly and noticed the stone with the new numbers. Once I was at GZ, I soon found the well hidden cache. Thanks bucketeer for the cache and showing me something new.
