What a beautiful day up on Mt Glorious. Davinells, DavidWazza & Wayn0 went for a wee walk. The trek across to The multi England Creek Falls multi was our target cache today and Along the way we visited a couple of caches a top the ridge before we descended towards the waypoints and the falls.
We came across some campers up here and had to move aside for a couple of runners tear arsing along the track. Pealing off from the track we headed towards GZ to find it in good shape & placing our names in the log.
Great views now the descent into the Falls.

Wayn0, Muggle65, Davidwazza and I set off from Lawnton road nice and early with the goal of tackling the England Creek falls multi.
Half the group had done the trads up in the ridge, but the other half were happy to add on a few extra kms to the walk so we could get them.
We turned it into a loop and walked the fire road to the campsite and then camp back along ridge.
We greeted the weary campers packing up, visited the oldie and continued along the ridge. The views along the ridge are great and we had an awesome day for viewing them all!
Once the GPS settled, the cache was quickly located and names added to the log. Tftc Fangsoki

Awesome part of a morning trekking through the forest.
Thanks Davewazza and beardman75 for accompanying me.

Today, the plan was a hike at Northbrook Mountain as per an organised event. Unfortunately, the constant rain put a dampener (pun intended) on our ambitious walk to England Creek bush camp, consequently, it was decided to take the loop around Northbrook Mountain. Following the walk, we took the drive down the range and stopped at Samford for an early lunch and coffee.
The Northbrook Mountain event was looking to be quite popular, but with all the rain in the last week, and forecast rain today, the hike was only made by Beardman75, GurTheWanderer, and myself. Despite our change in hiking plans today, we still undertook a decent 10 km walk in a little over three hours. The conversation and banter offset the constant rain, and at least it wasn't cold rain. We took the fire trails on the way to Northbrook Mountain bush camp, and then returned via the ridge footpad. It was a little slippery in the rain, but with not much wind, we didn't feel like it posed too much of a safety hazard, and I really enjoyed the rocky outcrops that this walk provided.
We were in two minds about whether to attempt this ridgeline walk, or to return back along the fire trails. In the end, our group agreed to give it a go, but if it got too dangerous, then we'd turn back and return to the longer, safer way along the fire trails. With no strong winds, we didn't think it was too much of an issue, and despite the weather, I still really enjoyed this section... and I would love to return in better weather to see it properly! As we passed next to this geocache, we quickly spotted this ammo container, and it didn't seem to be too hidden as we saw a part of it showing. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Fangsoki for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A Favourite Point from me for these two ridgeline caches!
Note that the QPWS Park Alerts for Brisbane link in the geocaching description no longer works, and I believe the updated link should be:

And here is my target for the day! This cache completes my D/T loop using only regular sized caches. Great hike and good views on the way. Well worth skipping work for the day! TFTC
The caches in this area have been on my to-do list for years and I finally got to go hiking here and bag a couple of caches along the way.
My son and I hiked down the fire trail and up to the mountain, found the cache and then continued on through the beautiful bush to the next cache and then down the steep slope and back to the fire trail and back to the car.
Great hike in a beautiful area.

Thanks for the cache. The views are getting better as my walk continues to the nearby oldie.

After a bit too long not getting out for a significant hike in nrew territory and desperately wanting to catch up on my goal of climbing some mountain this year, I had headed out on a solo attack of Northbrook Mountain. After an hour or so research last night, I set off from the gate at 2 minutes past 2. Half an hour later, I hopped onto the ridge track upwards, and half an hour after that, found myself leaving [Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1](https://coord.info/GL12M9DG7).
Now it was a case of finding my way along the ever-narrowing ridge towards this geocache. I found myself with conflicted thoughts on this leg. One was that I reckoned I was the only human within a three-kilometre radius. That feels unsafe, especially as I travel light. I thought about friends whom this would be a worst nightmare for. But heck, I still had 4G reception and this ain't my first off-track hike.
But there was a track and soon after leaving the last geocache, it passed a pulpit rock that offered up some delicious views to the roughly south. I stopped here for a quick drink and a happy snap. I really am enjoying this time out. Onwards more!
The ridge definitely got more narrow and the track less defined. It's marked on the map on my phone but damned if many folks ever come here. I wended on and off the track, around, over and otherwise past countless more pinnacles. I had been interested in the two before the first geocache, but really, there were lots now. Mostly descending, then up over a little hump and arriving at GZ.
Having made a meal of the last hunt, I was determined for this to be quicker. And having looked at the hint, I saw a likely area. I clambered up and poked about with my walking stick - nothing. I wandered around for a few minutes before spotting something else. Oddly enough, it precisely matches the hint. Not what I thought the hint meant, but what it actually says. Way to make a meal, again!
Down in there I moved a few rocks, grabbed the geocache and pulled. It popped out and smashed my finger against a sharp edge of timber in the process. An immediate and relatively deep cut. I don't have any supplies on me, so I just ignore it and set about signing the logbook. There's blood now, so it;s totally a legit geocache find! I replaced as found, eighteen minutes after I put down the last geocache.
Right, now we find a way to the next icon, and really the priority geocache up here - the old one. And I suspect there will be some off-track action ahead of me. But right now, I'm happy to be cruising along with much solo-success and two geocache finds done. Thanks for this adventure, Fangsoki

There are amazing view from this ridge line, well worth the visit. Having a cache (or 3) is an appreciated encouragement.

I had cabin fever and needed to get out, stretch the legs, and enjoy exercise in the great outdoors. The weather at this time of the year is perfect for such activities, and a plan was hatched to head in this general direction. There was stunning views from the top of the ridge this morning, despite the lingering fog. It was a great warm up for what was to come with England Creek Falls.
And it just so happens that this is my favourite kind of cache . A decent walk, a great location, and a AMMO CAN! Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this one, added to my list of memorable caches for sure .

What started cold and windy day developed into a very good day for a walk.
Following the ridge line we were awarded with great views.
What a great day to be alive and caching!

This is such a glorious area for bushwalking. We made our way across to this one from its sister cache. We lost the path a couple of times but followed our noses and got to the summit to enjoy the views. Refound the path and on to GZ. Finding this one took way longer than it should have. Our GPSr was pointing 'down there' and we believed it. Only when we looked at the hint did we realise where we should be looking. Great hint! Found it straight away then.
Thanks heaps Fangsoki for the cache which lured us here today. Loved it.

Onward, onward and up and up... and down and up and ....
And about here was where i started to feel like right rubbish :/ I was slowing down the group a little because I was feeling dizzy, but I didn't tell them that till we got back to the point where it was a choice of EC or back up lawton rd. I pushed on from here to the next cache.
Felt a right sook, I hadn't even started down to EC, only visited one Wp!
But at least there were these three awesome caches along the way and I did appreciate the views, while stopping to hope I'd feel better after some water and powerade and sugar.
Thanks for placing these caches Fangsoki, I got to rest at each one

Find #2151 at 10:00 with Palopinto, 1MinnieMoo, 1GiantPanda, NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co and K8'n'Co., as part of 1MinnieMoo's Journey to# 2000.
After finding this cache's sister, it was a nice leisurely stroll to this one. Cache was tucked away nice and safely, but soon gave itself up to us.
Yep, still a lovely place up here.
Thanks for the cache, Fangsoki.

Cache #2 on the day of adventure with K8'n'Co, NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co, EngPhil, Palopinto and 1GiantPanda.
This one didn't take us too long to get to, or find, after the previous cache, and so far our day's terrain wasn't too bad. If only it would stay like this for the rest of the day...
Thanks for the cache Fangsoki.

Out solo today to traverse the top of Northbrook Mountain and grab the two remaining waypoints for the EC multi that I needed.
I really enjoyed the walk along the top of the ridge, the views are amazing and the terrain is just challenging enough to make you concentrate without fearing for your limbs at every step!
My GPS and phone were both bouncing around here, and not even agreeing on a location; just that I was wrong. Eventually I put them away and just looked and after about 5 mins, found it. Of course afterwards I looked at the hint - very helpful, probably should have read that! Cache is in good condition, thanks for placing it and bringing me up here, FP from me

Continuing the down and up along the ridge line. I enjoyed the down bits more than the up bits, strangely enough. From time to time, I stepped to one side or another to take some photos of the surrounds.
At last, the GZ was achieved and I must say the cache is excellently hidden to muggles.
All good here so TFTC once again. A real sense of achievement came from being up here today.

Was doing the ridge walk with little boyo and took a little break so he could find this one. Lovely day to be out and great views from up here.
As stated on the other cache page - A group of 5 buddies set out this morning to do the Northbrook Creek Gorge Multi. We didn't quite achieve this, but we did grab the ridge caches while we were relatively fresh and energised!
And the views get better and better! Wonderful area and we loved it! Good morning tea stop. Thanks so much!

Out with Dora the Explorer today with a view to finding a particular cache. The trail that we were taking passed by this cache. As Dora the Explorer had already found it, she allowed me to find it and fairly shortly after reaching GZ the cache was in hand.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.

#4122 [10:40] another stop during my trip. i had nice weather, fascinating views, great caches... what more to wish at sunday
When an opportunity arose to join Fangsoki on a walk to an older cache, the invitation was just to good to refuse, so I joined him, Sweet Bee, Slow Puncture, Orange Crew, Crew 153, LaKedi, Herbz, and Pprime for a fun day of bush walking and hill climbing on the trails around Northbrook ridge.
A small group had decided to search for a few additional caches along the way so after meeting at the designated meeting place at the appointed time, we set off in the freezing cold toward our first target. We were soon heading up the ridge and we were gradually beginning to warm up just as the sun began to rise over Mt Glorious. Mr Just a Trifle had previously made this trek almost a decade ago in search of BFP #2 but heading up the hill now seemed much more of a challenge.
Having found Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1, the small group continued following the path and after a bit of rock hopping, found themselves at ground zero for the Northbrook Mountain Ridge 2 cache. It didn't take too long before the cache was soon and with our names added to the log book, we continued on our way to meet up with the remainder of the group to tackle the final cache for the day.
Thank you Fangsoki for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy.

After our find at Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1 it was a bit of rock hopping and dodging of the black Boy trees along the ridge until Mr Just A Trifle, Mrs Orange Crew, Slow Puncture, Pprime and I were close to this cache. My dicky knee was complaining about it all by this time and I stood back while the others did the searching.
The crafty hide was soon located and the log book passed around for signing.
We then headed further along the ridge to find BFP #2 which I had found 10 years ago before heading down to meet the remainder of the group heading to find Go-go-go-Anna.
Thanks to Fangsoki for obtaining permission to place these caches along the ridge, Hoping that it can be done in other National Parks.

Making our way along through the boulders, the footpad was mostly easily followed. There are some fascinating boulder clusters here, the geology is stunning. At GZ we split up and hunted high and low. I spotted the cache tucked away near where Pprime was standing... funny that considering he's found it before .

Saturday. Fang-day.
A group of us had gatherered at the Lawton Road entrance following the windstorm of the night before. Driving to this spot was interesting, lots of evidence of trees and foliage that only a day before, had seen better times.
Our group consisted of ourselves, Pprime (P), Crew 153, Team Herbz, Orange Crew, Mr Just a Trifle, La Kedi, Sweet_bee and Fangsoki.
The departure from Lawton Road was staggered - Pprime (P), Crew 153, Orange Crew and Mrs Slow Puncture were the energetic ones who went the hard way to find this cache and two others nearby, whilst the remainder took the easier (???) yet longer way around, to meet at the entrance to the track to the campsite.
Continuing on from Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1, we continued on a well-defined path, past some nice lookout spots. The freezing wind would hit us from time to time as we appeared from behind large rocks. We approached GZ, and Pprime (P), who had already found it, was standing up on the rocks while the others looked at our co-ords. He finally said "has anyone found it yet?". It well-hidden and you had to go past it and look back. Sneaky.
This was the 2nd of 4 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Fangsoki***, for showing us this place.

After the find of the first Northbrook Mountain Ridge cache, we found the going to this one particularly "interesting" as the trail was in places completely unrecognisable, and the lead explorers shot ahead but soon disappeared, leaving us wondering where the heck we were - but never fear - vennfamily came back to see where we were. And somewhere further back was the Team Benders Duo. At one stage we heard a scream which later on we found out was a "wardrobe malfunction"!
When we arrived at GZ, Dora the Explorer advised that she had found the cache but re-hidden it for us. A few minutes I discovered it, and also the path leading away from it on to the next cache. Nice!
Found at 10.45am on 7th February 2016. TFTC.

After leaving the first ridge line cache the track became even more ephemeral than it had previously been. Dora and I scouted ahead while the others made their way at their own pace. The terrain was rocky and difficult even when there was a trail to follow.
However, our efforts were rewarded with magnificent views and we stopped frequently to drink them in and pose for a group selfie.
When the GPS told us that we had reached the cache the hint confused us because we couldn't find a trail nearby and we couldn't find a burnt tree. But after a bit of searching Dora once again came up with the goods.
We passed the cache up for Team Benders to sign as she was struggling over the rocks only to realise that we would have to go that way anyway as we had finally found some semblance of a trail.
Now it was onto the BFP cache.

After finding the cache nearby, it was on to the next one. On the first down, getting over a small log, I snagged the shorts I was wearing causing a major wardrobe malfunction with rips down each side, but we soldiered on. Views were fantastic. The granite rocks were impressive with the lichen covering and there was cloud covering over the valleys. We had a little misty rain but it cooled us. We arrived at the cache and signed the log. Great work on bringing us to these places. I struggled all the way but geopartner was great helping me and pushing me along and encouraging me to get to these places.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Fangsoki All good with this cache.

Out doing the loop over the mountain. Looks like I was last here in 2008 having found the nearby cache then. Enjoyed the views along the way and was glad not to have to stray away from the track to find the cache - saw some big cliffs from below. Many thanks for the cache.
We continued along the ridge from Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1, enjoying the views, and following the footpad up, around, and over the rocky obstacles in our path. Once again a quick find at GZ, and we were on our way once again. Thanks for the cache Fangsoki.
This was a great adventure. Admittedly, most of the adventurous stuff was when we stepped off the track and off the Northbrook Mountain ridge. See my log https://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=bac3a06e-224f-4ad4-8765-2a83f470c7f1 for more info.
This ridge walk was most enjoyable - the rain eased slightly and some moody views were found at the high points.
The cache was found as per the hint and duly signed. All in good order. Many thanks Fangsoki. Thanks to those other adenturous souls for coming up with such a plan, and for being such good company along the way.

Found with Tassiegirl13, we haven't been for any bushwalks since coming back from holidays so we decided to get out today and do one.
I'd been eyeing off doing the two caches up here for a while so we chose these for our target today. We knew the first part of the walk was an easy downhill run as we'd been down here for another cache previously. I'd done my research at home and had worked out the track up however was going to be a little steep. The track was pretty well worn so we just took our time and eventually we made it to the top.
Northbrook 1 was done and dusted and we were now on our way to number 2.
We stopped at a rocky outcrop and about 200 meters before GZ and sat to enjoy the beautiful views for a while. What a great spot, we had a nice clear day so we were able to see quite a way. Onwards we continued clambering up and over rocks, well that seemed to be where the track went.
We must have been on the track because it led us right to where we had to go and the cache was soon found. Once the log book duties were done and we back tracked and made our way out.
Thanks Fangsoki for a couple of caches in a nice spot to go for a walk.

Out this morning with the lovely Mr Co (K8'nCo). Not usually a fan of starting the day going downhill and finishing with the up, but it wasn't very steep and was nowhere near as painful as I had thought it might be. Walking along the rocky ridge is very enjoyable with all the orchids and elkhorns to look at. Saw some of the most amazing specimans that I have ever seen.
Thank you Fangsoki for placing and maintaining this cache

Set out for this nice little hill climb along Northbrook ridge line walk early in the morning. It was a tad cool (3 degrees) on the way up and I felt for those on two wheels (especially the lycra crowd).
Now back to the story, arriving at the parking coordinates I teamed up with stairman ( Goldielover had been out partying the night before and pulled out of the walk).
WE continued on from the first cache, a little up a little down and little over here and a little over there, all the time with those continued wonderful views. Now this one took a little while longer to find. That said we were soon on our way to the original cache. Although I had been there previously stairman had not.
Originally we had talked about dropping down to the fire road to return back to the car but the ridgeline stoll was so enjoyable that we could not resist returning via that route.
A top day completing two very good caching experiences.

Out with ruzzelz for an early morning hike. I was going to stop for a much need coffee on the way up here. Could not believe the amount of bikes out front. No chance for a coffee here! will have to walk with out my coffee fix. I found a nice spot to park and soon ruzzelz joined me. Now out into the cold air and off we head. I did not remember how far down we went until we had to return. We found the point to leave the main track and headed up. That was quite a nice start for the day. After finding the cache a little further back we found a few ups and downs along the top of the ridge. Some great views to be had along the way. Found the cache and had a little rest before heading on further to get another cache.
Thanks for bringing us up here on this really enjoyable hike.

Out and about today with IolantheK.
The 2 new caches up here were our target for today ( we have both found the older cache).
We started our walk in DOWN the dirt road and then headed off up the trail.
OOOoooo it does get steep on this trail, we were not expecting that. After some time enjoying the views (and a bit of a stumble on my part. ) we made it past the first cache and onto this one.
We dumped the bags and started searching. Looking, looking, looking ... is there a hint? .... OH right next to where we dumped the bags then. YUP ... we are experts at this game.
We did continue right through to the campsite and this could be another approach for people. A bit longer but not quite as steep.
Thanks for the cache.

Brother Colin and I headed over to take the walk up to these 2 caches today. We decided to follow the CO's trail and had no trouble locating the start. Gotta say that's a darn steep little hill I reckon I took at least half a dozen stops to find my lungs Some great views, and after finding #1 we went on to this one. Mmmm, some GPS trouble here, and we headed down the hill a little, but then realised the hint was a lot more useful, and the hiding spot was right where we had dumped our packs Chalk that one up to cache blindness!
We then continued past the other cache to the campsite for our lunch break, before taking the trail down the hill to England Creek Rd, then headed right and back down Lawnton Rd. It might be a bit longer but it's a much less steep route, so I'd recommend it for less crazy walkers TFTC, Fangsoki. A pleasure to finally get them both done today.

After finding number one I headed further along the ridge towards this one. The trail was tricky to spot in places but I was soon nearing the hunt area. After a few slips and slides I got into the business of the day and found the prize. Another favorite from me for the effort in placing these out here. Nice one Fangsoki
Took our daughter and a friend out for a little stroll along the ridge to pick these two up. The Mrs and I had been this way last year to grab two older caches. The kids very much enjoyed everything about the trip. The view was still as beautiful as last time. This one will also help us towards "Two feet and a heartbeat"
the view absolutely took my breath away, it was a fun day out and an amazing adventure.

Continued over the ridge track from Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1 (GC5EE1Z). Nice easy find. After find, continued to the Northbrook Mountain Ridge Campsite and back on the main fire trail to the car back at Lawnton Rd.
The campsite seems to have had a major upgrade with a big campfire pit in place and solid seating/workspaces...will have to return for an overnighter...perhaps when it is a bit cooler because this morning was pretty warm!

About 4 weeks ago a friend and I decided to walk the Northbrook Mountain ridge. He had never been there, and I had been there some years ago, so it would be good exercise. Arriving home I looked for caches to do the next day and - Bother! We just walked past two today! [B)]
Today I needed more exercise, what with Christmas and a few days of poor weather, so loaded these two caches and set off.
All the way down Lawton road I was remembering the previous walk where temps were in the high 30s for the climb back to the car, and revelled in the mostly shady walk downhill today.
Found the cache in its hiding place and noted two finders before me on 31 December. From the previous log it seems they continued on westward and that is why I never met them. I previously found the cache out on the end of the ridge, so had no need to go further today, especially after my previous visit and the walk back up the hill!
No swaps as requested. TFTC Fangsoki, and happy caching in 2015.

After a crappy day out yeaterday doing a power trail (sometimes it is about the numbers and nothing else) I decided to get back to what I do best. A nice day out on the geocycle.
I had decided that Go-Go-Go-anna would be my target for the day and I noticed that the trail led from there up to the summit of Northbrook Mountain. Now that sounds like a grand day out.
I parked at the entrance to Joyner Road and set off at 6:30 am. It only took 30 minutes to get to GZ for Go-Go-Go-anna and almost all downhill.
Time to pay for the fun. It took almost an hour to ride back up out of the valley. There were a few falt spots along the way and even two very brief downhill runs, but it was pretty much a slow but steady climb.
I rode the bike a bit beyond the camp site at the start of the ridge, but soon abandonned it. It was only 245m to the first cache, but it was slow going in the bike shoes. What is easy to do in hikeing boots becomes a very careful and measured thing. Every footpad needs to be chosen carefully.
It took me about 30 minutes to cover the 245m, but it was a nice quick find at GZ. Thanks for restoring my happy caching mojo Fangsoki

I was out and about on a walk with Jarah (from SeffAndJarah, or maybe it was Seff). We had both had the bright idea to try for an early morning FTF on these two, but had discovered we were a day too late. In any case the walk had been great and the short walk along the ridge from #1 to #2 was really enjoyable (great views, interesting flora, dramatic terrain).
At GZ I made the find after checking the hint and we signed up and then continued along the ridge to BFP#2. The walk up had been great and the walk back was pretty good too. After BFP we headed down to Lawton Rd via the camp site which was a much easier track than the one we came up on the other side.
Jarah had a look at the camp site log and we saw LLJ had signed up there too [:o] (old habbits...). Jarah had planned to do the big circuit via GoGoGo-Anna and I was tempted to tag along, but I hadn't really brought enough water to get through a tough walk like that. So Jarah turned south and I turned north for the easy walk back up Lawnton.
The views are pretty good and the track (road) is very easy going, but the best part of the walk back were all the birds. I'm not a twitcher at all so I can't tell you what all the birds I saw were, but I saw at least a dozen different types on the route back. There were parrots and doves and thingos and whatsits. It was great.
Thanks for the great caches Fangsoki. I had a great walk. Fav point coming (you're in the queue )

After hitting the track at 4.30am and catching up with keepingupwith along he way, we had found the first cache and discovered our FTF hopes had been dashed on that one. It was therefore certain that the FTF would also be gone on this one as well so there was a little less spring in our step as we made our way here. Still it was a short but beautiful walk with more amazing views which we stopped to enjoy and listen to the myriad of birds starting to wake up and announce the start of the new day. Made it ti GZ but I managed to be searching on the wrong path before keepingupwith spotted the cache right near where he was standing a bit higher than where I was. Log opened to reveal we were indeed beaten to the punch again on this one. Another great location for the cache. Tftc
So, after being pipped at the post on the other one, I strolled along to this one. About half-way there, I met "spaceyurt". He was struggling up a hill as I was about to go down. He said, "hello". I said, "hello, you must be [insert his real name which he'd written in the previous log]. He seemed a bit surprised that some random guy in the bush knew his name. My stalking skills far outweigh my tracking skills . We chatted for a while and went our separate ways. I soon reached this cache and spent a long time finding it. My GPSr had me about seven metres away and up there, that's quite a bit. Anyhow, it wasn't really hard to find and I signed my second, second-to-find in half an hour .
[grumble, grumble, grumble etc]
Okay, now if you want to have a nice walk after you go on from this one and find "BFP #2 - Northbrook Mountain", make your way back to the footpad you've been following and about 500 metres from BFP, you come to a bush camp. It's a very easy walk and all on the same level as the ridge you've just crossed. 90 metres on from the bush camp, you'll find England Creek Rd. Turn left and you're on the way to Go-Go-Go-Anna . Turn right and another 500 metres will see you at the intersection of England Creek and Lawton Rds. Turn right and go down. 2.8 kms later, you'll find yourself at the Fang's trailhead. It's a very easy walk because you're up high to start with. I had a most enjoyable stroll in the late afternoon [^]. See my map photo attached to this log. Ignore the gray track. That was a mistake I made a few years ago. Don't go that way [xx(].
The walk back to the top of Lawton Rd is always going to be nasty. Sorry, that goes with the cache . Luckily for me, the Segway cruised up said hill at 10 kph .

My second FTF!!!
Made my way along the ridge line from "Northbrook Mountain Ridge 1", the trail was much more visible up here, though still had to improvise a couple of times when I lost it. Amazing views again! I arrived at the marker on Google maps on my phone, and began looking for the burnt out tree. I was looking for a fully charred stump, but soon spotted something in a tree that was blackened inside, but only visible from certain angles. Found it! Log signed!
I wanted to go up to the next cache but thought it might be getting a bit late, especially if I got lost, so I started heading back. I heard some movement over along the trail and saw that someone was there, I assumed it was just another hiker so I said hi, and he said my name, and I was baffled how a random hiker knew my name, haha. Turns out it was another geocacher, Lat&Long Junkie, and he had just seen my log entry in the previous cache. Had a chat for a bit, geocachers are always really nice people, so I felt bad that I had just beaten him to the FTFs, but we were literally only minutes apart so it was kind of a combined FTF
I really struggled to get back to the car, many more trips and tumbles and my knees were killing me, and that dirt road back to the main road was a killer, uphill most of the way! Nearly stepped on a python, and never seen so many goannas in the one area before. All in all, totally worth it! Beautiful area, amazing views, I will definitely be back one day!
I think it took me about 4 hours in total.

I headed out this way today ... for something to do With Mrs Slow Puncture, Orange Crew, Crew153 and Mr Just a Trifle along for the walk we met up on the road and headed off a bit after 6am - having survived a most windy night, debris all over the road up and darn cold conditions.
We proceeded down the road and up the ridge and then proceeded along the ridge towards this, and past its brother. It is really very pleasant along here, and the periodic views on either side are spectacular. Last time for me it was late afternoon, this time with the sun behind me the valley to the south was awesome. However it wasn't lost on me that we were heading down into that next.
I have been here before, and enjoyed the opportunity this time from my vantage point where I could see the actual container, and watch my compatriots as they looked here and there. I very much enjoyed myself here. For that alone this extra walk was worth it. Thanks again Sir Soki.

We were up here at the top of the world today helping the CO place these new (approved) additions to Northbrook Mountain. After placing No.1 we headed further along the ridge line. We were surprised by the cragginess of the terrain up here. We thought most of the ridges in this area were somewhat eroded and tree covered, but no, we were wrong. There are some wonderful views and interesting terrain to be explored up here.
After picking our way between some seriously large and toothy protuberances we arrived at proposed GZ and began to record, check and average the coordinates to make sure they are as accurate as possible. The cache was placed and hidden with approval from all present.
There is a lot to admire about this area and hopefully, with the extra caches here, Northbrook Mountain will enjoy a few more visits from more bushwalking oriented cachists.
Thanks for allowing us to join you for this Fangsoki. An awesome pair of hides.

THIS IS NOT A FTF LOG. At time of writing that is still available
Escaped the rat race for the day and joined Mr CO, and Team Herbz for a journey of several thousand steps. The goal today was to place this cache and its mate, having achieved Park Ranger approval to do so.
The walk down Lawton Rd was rather uneventful, although we did stop to admire the logging loader. It was peaceful once the vehicle noise from the main road disappeared into the trees. In due course we arrived at the Trailhead and off up hill we trundled. There's a bit of a climb - having done so much down to get to here, but that's how ridge lines work I suppose. We could see the historical log trench we followed clear as day, imagining the effort it would have taken to get the logs even to here - and to not lose a brace of good horses. The travel to the top of the ridgeline took some effort, a few breaks to breathe, and to admit the staghorns and singing wildlife. Again - peaceful. Once on the ridgeline it's really just a matter of following it. Some down, some up, mostly across until we got to the first one.
From there I recall more serious downs and back ups. One particular up took place just as we arrived at this GZ. The hide is pretty well hidden from certain angles, and judiciously applied SPOR again I do believe makes it rather well done - again I do say so myself. And like last time there was much number checking by multiple devices.
Off to the old local next. Northbrook Mountain Ridge is a rather awesome place actually. There is much to love about this. I will be back I am sure.
Thanks for allowing me to place this cache, Fangsoki. Left in good condition.
