What a beautiful day up on Mt Glorious. Davinells, DavidWazza & Wayn0 went for a wee walk. The trek across to The multi England Creek Falls multi was our target cache today and Along the way we visited a couple of caches a top the ridge before we descended towards the waypoints and the falls.
We came across some campers up here and had to move aside for a couple of runners tear arsing along the track. Pealing off from the track we headed towards GZ to find it in good shape.
Great views.

Wayn0, Muggle65, Davidwazza and I set off from Lawnton road nice and early with the goal of tackling the England Creek falls multi.
Half the group had done the trads up in the ridge, but the other half were happy to add on a few extra kms to the walk so we could get them.
We turned it into a loop and walked the fire road to the campsite and then camp back along ridge.
A bit of scrambling over the rocks and we reached our last cache along the ridge. All good with this one. Signed log and replaced as found. Tftc Fangsoki

Today, the plan was a hike at Northbrook Mountain as per an organised event. Unfortunately, the constant rain put a dampener (pun intended) on our ambitious walk to England Creek bush camp, consequently, it was decided to take the loop around Northbrook Mountain. Following the walk, we took the drive down the range and stopped at Samford for an early lunch and coffee.
The Northbrook Mountain event was looking to be quite popular, but with all the rain in the last week, and forecast rain today, the hike was only made by Beardman75, GurTheWanderer, and myself. Despite our change in hiking plans today, we still undertook a decent 10 km walk in a little over three hours. The conversation and banter offset the constant rain, and at least it wasn't cold rain. We took the fire trails on the way to Northbrook Mountain bush camp, and then returned via the ridge footpad. It was a little slippery in the rain, but with not much wind, we didn't feel like it posed too much of a safety hazard, and I really enjoyed the rocky outcrops that this walk provided.
We were in two minds about whether to attempt this ridgeline walk, or to return back along the fire trails. In the end, our group agreed to give it a go, but if it got too dangerous, then we'd turn back and return to the longer, safer way along the fire trails. With no strong winds, we didn't think it was too much of an issue, and despite the weather, I still really enjoyed this section... and I would love to return in better weather to see it properly! We continued along the footpad from *Northbrook Mountain Ridge 2* to this geocache, and although we had our map to follow the track along, we didn't seem to have too many issues. Actually, we did lose the track after continuing to walk straight along the track just after this cache, not realising it did a 90 degree turn to the left.
Anyway, we arrived at this GZ where GurTheWanderer made the cache find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Fangsoki for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that the QPWS Park Alerts for Brisbane link in the geocaching description no longer works, and I believe the updated link should be:

I looked out the window this morning and decided to abandon work for the day. It was a brilliant day, and was not getting too hot, so a hiking I will go. Was concerned at the amount of down at the start of this... That is not going to be fun at the end (spoiler - it was not!). Thanks to the great coordinates, I could spot the small turn off, and up I went. Cache was rather exposed - a number of hikers have signed the log book. I put a rock in front to give it some camo. TFTC!
The caches in this area have been on my to-do list for years and I finally got to go hiking here and bag a couple of caches along the way.
My son and I hiked down the fire trail and up to the mountain, found the other cache and then continued on through the beautiful bush to this cache and then down the steep slope and back to the fire trail and back to the car.
Great hike in a beautiful area.

For what feels like forever, the geocaching map has ceased to entice me outside very often. However, I do have a goal to get up a mountain for the five cooler months of the year, and I have found older geocaches do tend to coax me. And as such, Northbrook Mountain happened upon me. Deciding last night I'd give this a solo-go I spent about an hour researching by reading previous logs, looking at the map and calculating how long it might take me.
Alright then, let's make this happen. After getting confused, then realising the road I wanted to navigate to was Lawton, not Lawnton and my phone finally sorting that out, I was on my drive up. The tiny carpark at the start point was full, but I squeezed in, then threw on my hiking boots, donned my camelback and set off at 2 minutes past 2.
The immediate joy of this walk was the wide dirt road to follow. I assumed it'd be like this the whole way. Just minutes past the gate, I stopped when I spotted a huge carpet python on the track. After he sensed me, he disappeared into lantana and I carried on down, down, down the trail.
Watching my phone, I felt the trailhead waypoint to leave Lawton Road came up quick. Just half an hour from leaving the car and it was ever such a tiny footpad leading to the left. Not what I expected, but I have faith. And no clue how the CO ever found it. I clambered up the first few steep steps and carried on.
It is exceptionally rare that I have a walking stick, but I did today. And after the snake encounter, I was slightly more cautious than usual. On this small trail and alone, you just never know. Needless to say, encounters with anyone or anything didn't happen.
Suddenly, the trail went up. Quickly. I powered along but must say I stopped pretty dang frequently to catch my breath. The number of photos I took comments on how much I was stopped! The track then heads through blackboys and a rocky section - through here I almost lost the track twice, but I wasn't too concerned as long as I aimed for the high point. And get to the high point I did!
Now, cruelly, it is down, down again. Down along the wide ridgeline and around two rock pinnacles. I was mesmerised by them and stopped at both to admire why they are still standing proud so far above the terrain. At the third pinnacle, my phone (which surprisingly still had 4G reception) told me I was close.
Rocks, rocks everywhere! I spent a few minutes hopping around the rocks near the track and poking many likely hidey-places. Nothing. Eventually, I descended to the west a bit more and boom! I spotted the geocache. It sure is right by the track! I guess so few people would pass by, what are the chances it'd even be seen? I plucked it out and used the pencil within to sign my name. I replaced as found and noted it had been sixty-six minutes since I left my car.
Okay then, not far to the next, let's carry on! This is a decent solo off-track adventure. About as adventurous as I'm comfortable with, but I am enjoying this hike so far. And of course, this geocache placed to show me the more interesting route to Northbrook. Thanks for showing me this place, Fangsoki

What an adventurous day out with OBC and Ruzzelz. This was our first cache of the day and little did I know that this would be one of the easier climbs I would be doing
There were wonderful views with the early morning sun.
Cache in good condition and even had a friendly muggle log.
Thanks

I had cabin fever and needed to get out, stretch the legs, and enjoy exercise in the great outdoors. The weather at this time of the year is perfect for such activities, and a plan was hatched to head in this general direction. There was stunning views from the top of the ridge this morning, despite the lingering fog. It was a great warm up for what was to come with England Creek Falls.
And it just so happens that this is my favourite kind of cache . A decent walk, a great location, and a AMMO CAN! Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this one, added to my list of memorable caches for sure .

The best part of the weekend is the walk. And with some caches the walk feels meaningful.
Very windy today a few trees were blocking half or more of mount glorious road.
Just 9 degrees when we left the car.
But clear skies and as soon as we got into the rainforest the wind did not effect us.
Good track most of the way.
Fantastic views and a feeling of wilderness.
Cache found to be in perfect condition
Thank you for hiding this cache Fangsoki

Great day for a hike exploring a new area- thanks for bringing us this way- tftc
Yesterday we were in the area collecting clues for a nearby multi. As we walked past this cache's trailhead yesterday we vowed we'd be back to get these three caches on the ridge 'real soon'. We woke this morning to another beaut day - ideal for hiking - so we made our way into the mountains again. Grateful for the trailhead WP - we would've missed the turnoff for sure.
After the downhill run in Lawton Rd it was all uphill from there. So glad when we finally made it to the top. Great views! So worth the effort. At GZ it was a quick find.
Thanks so much for the cache Fangsoki. Loved the hike to your cache.

Out for a stroll with 1Minniemoo, Nyssaflutterby, Engphil, K8nco and Palapinto.
There was a lot more up then I was expecting to get to this point... damn waypoints, lucky there's three caches along the way. grumble grumble..
Nyssa had powered off ahead and had already located the cache by the time the rest of us caught up.

Find #2150 at 09:36 with Palopinto, 1MinnieMoo, 1GiantPanda, NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co and K8'n'Co., as part of 1MinnieMoo's Journey to# 2000.
After a nice warm-up trek up the hill, we all filed into GZ for a quick find.
It certainly is a beautiful spot up here.
Thanks for the cache, Fangsoki.

It's finally here. The day I'd been looking forward to... and the others perhaps not so forward to
Milestone day!
And England Creek Falls was my big plan. But before getting completely down to business (we'd made a start at least), we had just a couple of other caches to grab along the way... well kind of.
And this was the first of those for our day of adventure!
NyssaFlutterby powered to this one and was sitting waiting by GZ for everyone else to get there. An obvious quick find made once we all caught up. And then she was off again!
Such a nice view near here, and a glorious (pardon the pun) day for it.
Thanks for the cache Fangsoki.

Out solo today to traverse the top of Northbrook Mountain and grab the two remaining waypoints for the EC multi that I needed. Fairly late start for me as I had to drop Jez at work, so arrived at the top of Lawton Road at about 9.40.
The first part of the walk was completed easily, although as others have noted, the down bit weighs on your mind when you remember you're coming back this way! I'd walked this way only two weeks ago to do Northbrook Gorge, on which trip we a)didn't have to come back up, and b)had seen a handsome red-bellied black sun baking on the side of the road, so I kept a sharp eye out, but saw no slithery creatures (yet, but that's a story for another log!).
After the obligatory up I arrived on top of the ridge and thoroughly enjoyed the walk along it, taking in the views and grabbing the three caches and a WP as I went. This cache was found in great condition if a tiny bit exposed. I added another rock to shield it a little better from view. TFTC, and bringing me up here.

I was intending to go caching somewhere else today but when an FTF opportunity arose just down the road from these three, I changed my plans.
After parking at Lawton, I sauntered down the road but wasn't too happy about the length of the downward track because I knew I would be climbing it after what I expected to be a demanding excursion.
I missed the 'turnoff' but only by about 30m or so: and it's pretty easy to miss. Soon I was facing a steep climb but slogged my way up, pausing as often as necessary. The trick today seemed to be: if in doubt, try to stay on top of the ridge!
Conditions were beautiful and the surrounds made it easier to handle the steep going. I spotted a nice spot for the cache about 16m early, but should not have doubted Fangsoki coordinates!
All good inside so TFTC and reason for coming up this way.

Was doing the ridge walk with little boyo and took a little break so he could find this one. Lovely day to be out and great views from up here.
A group of 5 buddies set out this morning to do the Northbrook Creek Gorge Multi. We didn't quite achieve this, but we did grab the ridge caches while we were relatively fresh and energised!
Amazing views along here! Loved exploring! Thanks Fangsoki!

I thought the cache would be along Lawnton Rd so we walked about 400m further from the trailhead coordinates before I realised we were wrong and trudged back (oops, didn't read the description properly). The trail was somewhat difficult to spot initially, but was best accessed directly from Lawnton Rd, not from that grassy area with the mysterious stacks of boxes.. Once we were on the trail though, it was pretty easy to follow.
The first 200m or so was a massive hill climb and took quite a while, compared to last 200m which was relatively flat/downhill. My (unenthusiastic) friend chilled at a rocky peak while I looked for the cache down by the stone steps. I found it pretty quickly, but re-hiding it took a while with the rock being so heavy!
We didn't venture on to the next cache since it was already mid-afternoon, and we still had to trudge back to the car which was sitting at the Maiala carpark. But we had a good workout and it was a great hiding spot! TFTC
The hunt shall be continued at another time...

#4121 [10:20] this cache was just a beginning of my circle to england creek. i was glad for excuse to stop and sit for few minutes so far so good, the track leading here was okay and visible as well as hiding place. thanks!
When an opportunity arose to join Fangsoki on a walk to an older cache, the invitation was just to good to refuse, so I joined him, Sweet Bee, Slow Puncture, Orange Crew, Crew 153, LaKedi, Herbz, and Pprime for a fun day of bush walking and hill climbing on the trails around Northbrook ridge.
A small group had decided to search for a few additional caches along the way so after meeting at the designated meeting place at the appointed time, we set off in the freezing cold toward our first target. We were soon heading up the ridge and we were gradually beginning to warm up just as the sun began to rise over Mt Glorious. Mr Just a Trifle had previously made this trek almost a decade ago in search of BFP #2 but heading up the hill now seemed much more of a challenge.
Before long, the small group had reached ground zero and after a short search, the cache was soon located. With our names added to the log book, we continued on our way to the next location.
Thank you Fangsoki for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy.

The last time I had been in this area was when I was 10 years younger and I can still remember the struggle I had following Rogainer up and down this ridge to put our names in the log for BFP #2 and the pain I endured for a few days after but it is amazing how the mind blocks out these things and when Fangsoki suggested that I join him to take a stroll to find Go-go-go-Anna I immediately put up my hand.
There was some interest in checking out the caches on the ridge on the way past and I decided that this would be a good opportunity for me to put my mark in them as well.
An early start was suggested which meant that I had to drive up Mt. Nebo Rd in the dark It appears that there had been some strong winds over night and it was an obstacle course to avoid all the branches and debris that were strewn on the road. I was actually thankful that it was dark so that I could see any approaching cars around the bends as I was frequently driving on the wrong side of the road.
A planned meeting with Slow Puncture at Westridge Break Gate did not eventuate as I missed the spot in the dark and so I carried on to the Lawton Rd Gate and found there was no one there. A bit of panic that I might have the wrong day and then Slow Puncture pulled up beside me.
We were juggling car positions when I managed to drop a rear wheel into a concrete pit and lost traction. (We eventually left it in that location until we returned at 5:30pm).
A few others turned up and in dim early morning light it was Slow Puncture, Mr Just a Trifle, Mrs Orange Crew and Pprime (who was making a return visit) who headed down the trail. It was a rather cool morning but we were warming up from the walking.
We make the correct exit off the trail and headed up the ridge. I soon found that I had lost a lot of my stamina since my last hike and I made a number of stops to suck in some big breaths and one extended break towards the top when the exertion took me out for a while. A few Allen's Snakes from Mr JAT and a rest had me back on my feet and heading back up the remainder of the climb.
From there is wasn't too far to the cache. By this time the sun had risen fully and we were given some great views of the area.
Thanks again to Fangsoki for taking me off the couch and showing me that I can push myself hard and still survive.

An invitation from Fangsoki was too good to refuse, so I joined him, Sweet Bee, Slow Puncture, Just a Trifle, Crew 153, LaKedi, Herbz, and Pprime for a full day of bush walking and hill climbing on the trails around Northbrook ridge.
After setting off from Lawton Rd at 6am, we absolutely froze heading down the hill with a temperature around 7 degrees and gusty winds. Soon we were going up the ridge and things began to warm up, especially as the sun started to poke its face out over Mt Glorious.
Making our way up through the ferns, orchids, and boulders the mountain views were gorgeous. We found the container safely tucked away, Mrs Slow Puncture made the grab.

Saturday. Fang-day.
A group of us had gatherered at the Lawton Road entrance following the windstorm of the night before. Driving to this spot was interesting, lots of evidence of trees and foliage that only a day before, had seen better times.
Our group consisted of ourselves, Pprime (P), Crew 153, Team Herbz, Orange Crew, Mr Just a Trifle, La Kedi, Sweet_bee and Fangsoki.
The departure from Lawton Road was staggered - Pprime (P), Crew 153, Orange Crew and Mrs Slow Puncture were the energetic ones who went the hard way to find this cache and two others nearby, whilst the remainder took the easier (???) yet longer way around, to meet at the entrance to the track to the campsite.
After leaving the main track, we venured up a small path and was glad it was winter as no slitherly squigglies were present. Came across lots of nice plants and rock formations along the way. Found GZ and delved into the hiding place and soon came up with the goods.
This was the 1st of 4 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Fangsoki***, for showing us this place.

Our little group set out with a particular target in mind. On the way, we had to pass several other caches, so, naturally, we stopped to add our names to the log book. TFTC
A bit late logging but as per the previous cache, found and signed the log at the beginning of a day which didn't quite turn out as planned. Once again, Tftc and the lovely views Fangsoki
Out with Brother Colin, teamdfl and IolantheK to do the nearby "England Creek Falls" cache. As the rest of the company had found this cache they where gracious enough to allow me to collect it as we passed by
We trekked in on Lawton road down to the Northbrook Mtn bush camp and up to GZ.
Nice easy find (when you know what you're looking for maybe its just easier approaching this cache from this direction)
The cache is dry and in good condition [^]

We were on our way to do the Northbrook Gorge multi and i said "does anyone want to do the ridge top caches while we're here?" RoddyC immediately said yes and Mrs RoddyC agreed.
I kept a lookout for the trailhead but was not expecting it to be such a tiny little track into thick undergrowth. As soon as we left the fire trail the track started climbing and it continued climbing for the next 300m.
At one point I realised that I couldn't see Dora the Explorer in front of me or RoddyC and Team Benders behind me so I just kept climbing.
Once at the top the views were spectacular. After waiting for the others to catch up we headed off along the ridge to the first cache. We took our time and soaked in our surroundings.
The trail was at times hard to make out but we always managed to find it again. The last 200m seems to take forever but then Dora called out "found it".
We all signed the log and continued on to the second cache.

We are doing three caches along Northbrook Mountain Ridge. Not by design - we didn't really know what was here. Neither did we have any real comprehension of what we would be in for as far as 4 and 4.5 star terrain rating meant to us today - we only came here to do Northbrook Creek Gorge. But you can't pass up a could of caches that are more or less on the way, can you?
We left Lawton Road at Venn Family's suggestion at the trail head and headed up. Some 300 meters later we stopped at the top for a rest (well, a longer one than the breath-catches on the way up) and for some fantastic views over the mountains and valleys. By gosh we must be high up!
Dora the Explorer had raced on ahead and had the time to locate the cache for us. Now on to number 2.
Found at 10.00am on 7th February 2016. TFTC.

Our group consisted of Dora the Explorer, vennfamily, RoddyC and us (2 suckers at the end).
While out with vennfamily on other caches last Friday, he mentioned an expedition to do the new multi of K8 'n'Co on Sunday. I said I would mention it to my friends RoddyC and they were excited to take up the offer. We arrived at the starting point and everyone was ready to go. Off we headed and when we arrived at the track to this one, vennfamily said we cant go past these caches. Little did we know what we were in for. After a chug up and up and up the mountain, with a little shove in behind from geopartner and a trusty long stick I found on the way in, we arrived to see the others sitting at the top waiting for us. Only xxx to the cache. The views were incredible all along the ridge even though it was a bit hard to take it in while trying to keep up with the group. There had been rain so everything was slippery such as rocks and the dirt was loose. We arrived at the cache and the log was signed by all.

Second on my 12 km walk today over the mountain - certainly getting my exercise today. But still feeling good at this point and enjoying the day out. Signed the log and then investigated the walk down to England Creek. TFTC.
What a day! The pain is starting to ease and I have some great memories of a wonderful but tough adventure.
With Swellerfungus and K8'n'Co, todays challenge was to firstly conquer Northbrook Mountain and collect the three caches on the ridge line, then backtrack to the eastern end of the ridge and from there, drop down a spur to England Creek Falls in the valley below.
From the falls, we rock hopped up England Creek for a couple of kilometres, a real challenge on mossy rocks in the pouring rain. At times, just standing upright on the rocks was a challenge. Sometimes, we climbed high in the rainforest around the otherwise impassable waterfalls. Other times, we were able to rock climb along the creek canyons without getting wet. Just once, when I had had enough of this energy sapping stuff, I simply waded through waist deep water to make progress. My boots were wet anyway.
Finally, at an impassable waterfall, the time came to climb out of the creek bed and head for the ridge and the road far above us. Being completely off track, we simply chose the least path of resistance - poorly, as it turned out. We battled lawyer vine, lantana and the rain. The steepness of the spur was just breathtaking - literally. Two steps forward, and one slide back. Unfortunately, the spur took us directly east, rather than to the northeast. Which meant we hit the trail at Joynters Ridge Rd, where we walked or rather limped, back down the pleasant track toMaiala.
Arriving back at the main road was great, except that our cars were at the trailhead at Lawnton Rd. A passing motorist took pity on us and drove Fungus the three k's back to his car, saving us from a walk back up the road that we were not looking forward to.
Some stats for the day - 9.5 hours, 3 caches including this one, 3 leaches, plus another two that crawled out of my clothes on the bathroom floor when I got home, 14 kilometres in total, including 8 kms off track, with about 800 metres total ascent for the day.
This cache was found as per hint, in excellent condition. This is a great ridge line to walk. Thanks for bringing me here, Fangsoki. Thanks to my mates for a great, but challenging day out. The pain is slowly fading. A favourite point awarded.

Two and a half years ago LadySim and I walked the Joyners Road/Lawnton Rd loop to get GO-Go-Go-Anna Cache and wisely left the BFP#2 cache as unachievable for our fitness level at the time. It meant that I always had the nagging desire to come back one day. In hindsight it was a great plan, as two more caches were subsequently added, meaning no second trip was required!.
When I approached some other hikers to join me, a Mr K8nCo suggested a slight detour on the way home might be in order, and so ensued a walking adventure I will not soon forget.
Light rain on the drive up to Lawnton Rd, and the weather app on my phone saying it will only be a 'light shower or two', meant for a cooler walk. Little did we know it would drizzle fairly consistently for the next 9 hours of walking! The walk up to the ridge was steady progress on fresh legs, and after ogling the spectacular views, we headed off for the cache. A quick find at GZ, names in the log, and we were off again as the rain continues to fall.

Found with Tassiegirl13, we haven't been for any bushwalks since coming back from holidays so we decided to get out today and do one.
I'd been eyeing off doing the two caches up here for a while so we chose these for our target today. We knew the first part of the walk was an easy downhill run as we'd been down here for another cache previously. I'd done my research at home and had worked out the track up however was going to be a little steep. The track was pretty well worn so we just took our time and eventually we made it to the top.
We admired the views for a bit then headed down to GZ and found the cache nicely tucked away all dry in its hiding spot.
Once the log book duties were done we placed it back in its spot and headed onto number 2.

K8'n'Co had planned to do this one with us last weekend but the dreaded lurgy (on my part) had put paid to that plan. I set off this morning with me still coughing a bit, hoping I was not going to hold the other two back. Luckily the walk was not as difficult as we had anticipated and it was a very pleasant way to spend the morning indeed. The trees and other plants (always a favourite part of our caching walks) were absolutely beautiful. and some of the views were to die for. Thank you Fangsoki for placing and maintaining this cache
Set out for this nice little hill climb along Northbrook ridge line walk early in the morning. It was a tad cool (3 degrees) on the way up and I felt for those on two wheels (especially the lycra crowd).
Now back to the story, arriving at the parking coordinates I teamed up with stairman ( Goldielover had been out partying the night before and pulled out of the walk). We ambled along the trail and at one point I tried to lead him astray by suggesting it was time to head bush, 50 m in we found the error of our ways.
Very soon however we reached the right place to head off the fire trail. Now hang on what is this steep little hill, this was supposed to be an amble along the ridge line. That said with one layer removed on the way up we were soon on the ridgeline proper and taking in the views. Shortly later we were at the first cache and collecting our reward for the day.
Top cache experience here, up with the best of them.

Out with ruzzelz for an early morning hike. I was going to stop for a much need coffee on the way up here. Could not believe the amount of bikes out front. No chance for a coffee here! will have to walk with out my coffee fix. I found a nice spot to park and soon ruzzelz joined me. No out into the cold air and off we head. I did not remember how far down we went until we had to return. We found the point to leave the main track and headed up. That was quite a nice start for the day. After reaching the ridge line we wandered along enjoying some great views. Arriving at GZ it did not take too long before we had our names in the log book.
Have really enjoyed the hike here.
Thanks Fangsoki for a great cache.

Out and about today with IolantheK.
The 2 new caches up here were our target for today ( we have both found the older cache).
We started our walk in DOWN the dirt road and then headed off up the trail.
OOOoooo it does get steep on this trail, we were not expecting that. After some time enjoying the views (and a bit of a stumble on my part. ) we made it to GZ.
A quick find here before moving on to the next one.
We did continue right through to the campsite and this could be another approach for people. A bit longer but not quite as steep.
Thanks for the cache.

Brother Colin and I headed over to take the walk up to these 2 caches today. We decided to follow the CO's trail and had no trouble locating the start. Gotta say that's a darn steep little hill I reckon I took at least half a dozen stops to find my lungs Some great views, and we had no trouble making the find. On to #2 [D]
After finding #2, we continued past the other cache to the campsite for our lunch break, before taking the trail down the hill to England Creek Rd, then headed right and back down Lawnton Rd. It might be a bit longer but it's a much less steep route, so I'd recommend it for less crazy walkers TFTC, Fangsoki. A pleasure to finally get them both done today.

This one turned out to be a little more difficult than I'd expected. Lots of steep up and don stuff to tan from the cache. At the waypoint I actually missed the trail first look...ahhh that must be it. Looks like very few people pass that way. Up and up i went doing some rock hopping and battling the overgrowth. Eventually came out atop the ridge and marveled at the view. A bit more walking and I was at GZ and soon had the find. Always a pleasure to find such a quality cache container. Cheers Fangsoki, a favorite from me
Took our daughter and a friend out for a little stroll along the ridge to pick these two up. The Mrs and I had been this way last year to grab two older caches. The kids very much enjoyed everything about the trip. The view was still as beautiful as last time.
Started out from the Lawnton Rd Parking and continued through to the trailhead and up the ridge track. There were some steep parts but an easily visible track to the cache.

About 4 weeks ago a friend and I decided to walk the Northbrook Mountain ridge. He had never been there, and I had been there some years ago, so it would be good exercise. Arriving home I looked for caches to do the next day and - Aaaaagh! We just walked past two today!
Today I needed more exercise, what with Christmas and a few days of poor weather, so loaded these two caches and set off.
All the way down Lawton road I was remembering the previous walk where temps were in the high 30s for the climb back to the car, and revelling in the mostly shady walk downhill.
Found the cache in its hiding place and noted two finders before me on 31 December. They must have got up early! No swaps as requested. TFTC Fangsoki, and may you find many caches in 2015.

Due to my chosen method of transport and therfore my chosen approach this was the second along the ridge for me.
Once again the few hundered metres took quite a while to negotiate in the bike shoes. A slow and deliberate navigation got me to GZ intact.
There is some quite spectacular scenery along here and some fantastic views too.
I added my name to the log and picked my way back to the geocycle.
I have walked to the top of the hill previously for the cache there so I knew that most of the trip to the road was uphill. Nothing else to do but pick a nice easy gear and think about small circles
The bit along the road back to the car was fun though. Luckily no speed cameras - I may have slightly exceeded the 50km speed limit on occasion
Thanks for a great morining out Fangsoki. 4 hours total trip time - including stopping to boil the billy for morning tea - 25km and 934m of climbing. My idea of time well spent indeed.

Found after a bit of a steep climb up from the old trail. There's no easy way around it. Just go to go up, up and up. Great views are your reward and also 3, 4 rating caches. Bonus.
This is the first one on my Go Go Go Anna circuit, and although it's been a bit of a hike up here and my hearts pounding I know that there are 21 klms in front of me. It's going to be a long day I feel. .
Thanks for bringing me here. Really grateful for your efforts.

THIS IS NOT A FTF LOG. At time of writing that was long gone.
I had been keeping an eye on this one all week and with no online logs by Friday evening, and a pass out to go walking on Saturday morning it was a pretty easy decision where to head.
I got up bright and early and was parked predawn and on my way. This was a great time of day to be out and about. The birds where whistling away, the air was cool, the dawn light was creeping up over the mountains... nice.
The first part of the walk is easy going and I was meandering along when I heard someone coming up behind me. I turned about to spot another early morning walker (that's not suspicious at all). So I waited in until Seff (from SeffandJarah, or maybe it was Jarah...) caught up and we wandered down to the 'trail' head. Maybe we just lost the trail or maybe 'trail' is just a euphemism for stretch of bush that isn't infested with lantana.
Which ever we were pretty soon slogging our way up a punishingly steep and rocky slope to the ridge. We made it to the top with me only calling one break so that was ok. (Reading the now posted [:p] previous logs it looks like there was maybe an easier way up, indeed the longer walk around to the camp site and then up from there would be a good alternative to the route we took.)
The ridge line was spectacular. We pause quite a few times along to take in the view and admire the ferns, stag-horns and grass trees (just stunning). Soon enough we were at GZ and after a bit of cache blindness Seff made the find.
Opening up the log we saw that we were a full day off the FTF pace. Not that I cared too much, I have my FTF fervor to thank for getting me up on top of this fantastic ridge and at a perfect time of day to enjoy it. So we signed in and made our way along the ridge.
Thanks Fansoki, really enjoyed this one. Fav point to come.

I saw notification come through last Sunday afternoon and it was too late then to even think about attempting it. Watching all week hoping for no activity on the find front. With no finds still logged online by late Friday night, a plan was put in place to be on the track at dawn with enough light for the climb to the 2 new caches and hopefully FTFs. Left home on schedule at 3.30am and with a fuelling stop in between was at the parking point by 4.30am with the sky just beginning to lighten. My heart sank when I saw another car already in the car park. Gee who's silly enough to be here earlier than me?? Well surely they can't be too far ahead of me, so I threw my pack together and started to jog off along the track. About a km in I finally spotted a lone figure in the gloom ahead. Aha keeppingupwith! Off we continued together and reached the turnoff point. A bit of debate here as to exactly where we should be going but soon spot a trail and follow it along. As the steepness began we seemed to lose the trail and followed our noses up to the top of the ridge. I'm sure there was a much easier path than the way we took but I do like a bit of a bush bashing climb. We enjoyed the stroll along the ridge, there were some wonderful views along the way and stopped for a while to enjoy them and the birdsong as the sun broke over the top of the mountains. Eventually we moved on to the actual cache hunting. Took us a little bit of hunting before we spotted the well hidden cache. With much anticipation we opened the log, hoping to be the first to do so. Aaaaaaaaargh nooooooooooooo! It was found yesterday. Darn, dang, drat, I could have had an extra 3 hrs sleep this morning. Oh well, it is a nice time to be out walking in the cool of the morning. Signed our names and headed off to the next one, a little deflated knowing the FTF would be gone on that one as well. An absolutely beautiful area and well worth the walk to get here. Tftc
I spent all this week telling myself, "I'm going to find these caches on Friday regardless of whether the FTF is gone." So, Friday comes, I finish work at 12 and drive the junkie van to Lawton Rd gate. Bummer, there's a flash-looking Peugeot two-seater right where I wanted to park. The bonnet was still warm (double bummer . I said it out loud again, "I'm going to find these caches on Friday regardless of whether the FTF is gone." It's a lousy feeling ... isn't it? .
So, after stashing the Segway, I walk to the Fang's trailhead and start up, looking for obvious recent signs. I've read a lot of Wilbur Smith, so I know all about tracking . It wasn't looking very good. There seemed to be fresh scrapes on various bits of the track, but then I walked through a spider web and thought, "no one's been here for a while at least." I did a mildly excited dance as opposed to a happy one and when I reached the top of the hill, I didn't stop, I headed straight for the cache and found my tracking skills suck. "spaceyury" was there 40 minutes before me.
Something I'd been muttering recently came to mind, "I'm going to find these caches on Friday regardless of whether the FTF is gone."
[grumble, grumble, grumble etc]

My first FTF!!!
I had been thinking about placing a cache in this area so was keeping an eye on it on the Geocaching website when I noticed two new ones on the map. I clicked on them and saw that they hadn't been found yet even though they had been there nearly a week. So I cut short my stay at my parents farm in Northern NSW and headed north to try and get there first because I knew they would be found by the weekend.
I packed some lunch, heaps of water, and put all the co-ords on my phone so I could use them in Google maps. I really thought there would be no phone reception so was prepared to not be successful with these caches, but to my amazement I had full reception the whole time.
I set off from the parking co-ords, made it to the trailhead, and followed the old overgrown logging trail. I knew I had to get up to the ridge line somehow and was tempted to scramble up some of the dried up rocky downfall areas but thought "just stick to the trail and head round to the back of the ridge line". Sure enough it was much easier to get up around the back side.
I headed up hill and lost the trail a few times so had to improvise which lead to many trips and tumbles and scratches as I struggled through the bush. I probably should have worn long pants and hiking boots, not board shorts and joggers, haha! I kept checking google maps on my phone to see if I was still heading in the right direction, and the little marker was getting closer and closer. I was dissuaded a couple of times when I came to a few cliffs and couldn't find a way up, but kept on scrambling til I found a way through, I really wanted those FTFs!
I finally made it to the top of the ridge and the views were awesome, so took a heap of photos and took it all in for a while. The trek was worth it just for that, so finding the caches was just a bonus now. I kept following the trail (which was more visible up here), and arrived at GZ, had a look around with no luck then sat down to re-read the details when I turned around to see a couple of out of place rocks "under a large rock". There was the cache! Opened it up expecting someone else to have signed the FTF, but I was the first! Woohoo!

I headed out this way today ... for something to do With Mrs Slow Puncture, Orange Crew, Crew153 and Mr Just a Trifle along for the walk we met up on the road and headed off a bit after 6am - having survived a most windy night, debris all over the road up and darn cold conditions. Even the satellites were none too happy about the early start. Good thing I've been before. We trundled down to the bee hives at the turn off, then trooped up the ridge to the top. That got the heart racing, although I wasn't yet too warm. And man that wind! By now at least the sun was up though.
Once up top we proceeded along the ridge towards this, and its brother. It is really very pleasant along here, and the periodic views on either side are spectacular. Last time for me it was late afternoon, this time with the sun behind me the valley to the south was awesome. However it wasn't lost on me that we were heading down into that next.
Cache was found quickly and easily, I was superfluous. I can report it was found, and left, in well hidden, sensible manner, and the contents and log in fine condition. Thanks again Sir Soki.

We had heard the the CO managed to get permission to place some hides in the NP here and we were very pleased to be asked to accompany him to actually place the caches today. We hadn't visited this area before although we had driven through Mt. Glorious some time ago. So it was nice to do some exploring out this way.
After a quick coffee meetup with the other members of the party, we headed to the parking at the start of Lawton Road and commenced the walk with a steady decline along the wide fire trail to the start of the spur. Things then got very uppity indeed from here. After much huffing and puffing, we eventually made the top of the ridge then headed along the top enjoying the views which are surprisingly awesome up here. The craggy pinnacles add to the drama along with the abundant plants and flowers which are unique to these lofty locations. We then came across a friendly goanna which seemed very reluctant to move off the path, so we skirted round him after he posed nicely for some pictures.
Arriving at GZ we liberally brandished various GPSr devices around. Double, triple and quadruple checking the coordinates (so they should be pretty spot on), before placing the container ready for the FTF. Now it's off to hide no.2.
A very worthy addition to this beautiful area. Thanks for bringing up here Mr Fangsoki, we enjoyed the day immensely.

THIS IS NOT A FTF LOG. At time of writing that is still available
Escaped the rat race for the day and joined Mr CO, and Team Herbz for a journey of several thousand steps. The goal today was to place this cache and its mate, having achieved Park Ranger approval to do so.
The walk down Lawton Rd was rather uneventful, although we did stop to admire the logging loader. It was peaceful once the vehicle noise from the main road disappeared into the trees. In due course we arrived at the Trailhead and off up hill we trundled. There's a bit of a climb - having done so much down to get to here, but that's how ridge lines work I suppose. We could see the historical log trench we followed clear as day, imagining the effort it would have taken to get the logs even to here - and to not lose a brace of good horses. The travel to the top of the ridgeline took some effort, a few breaks to breathe, and to admit the staghorns and singing wildlife. Again - peaceful. Once on the ridgeline it's really just a matter of following it. Some down, some up, mostly across at this point. We made a new friend, a rather friendly Goanna with pretty colourings.
In time we made it to the chosen GZ that had been pre-approved, and in that spot we set about ensuring the container was properly hidden. SPOR. Coords were checked, rechecked, double checked and to be sure we checked again. Yeah, something around about there will do It's a good hide if I do say so myself.
Northbrook Mountain Ridge is a rather awesome place actually. There is much to love about this. I will be back I am sure.
Thanks for allowing me to place this cache, Fangsoki. Left in good condition.

Easter weekend 2nd-6th April 2015 in Stanthorpe, QLD.
Please note -: The names already present before the publication date in the logbooks are NOT FTF logs. I am allowing finds for those folks that did the hard yards in helping me find spots and then placing caches.
Rest assured, the FTF honour remains for those who make the finds at GZ after the publication date. Happy finding
