I have been informed that a nearby property owner has removed/is removing the tree on council land that the cache was hidden at the base of. This is the first geocache I ever hid so I'm torn on my next step.

Back in January 2018 I found GC46 down in Wellington, and about the same time became aware of the challenge cache GC325CX requiring the logging of the top 10 oldest caches in the North Island. Since then I have been slowly working my way towards completing this challenge, and as of April this year I was down to just one more cache required. My trip to Whangarei this weekend was all about finding GC366 to complete this challenge. Obviously I was gonna find some other caches while I was here, and this was one of them.

A new day and more caches to find. The plan this morning is the loop of tracks down here. Had a lot of fun tracking down this one. Got there in the end.

Thanks to kan0e for placing this cache here.

Well this was certainly an interesting geohunt. I came in from Boswells Track and managed to navigate my way eventually to the right area, and had the GPS counting down (not up) which is always a good sign. There were a couple of places where I just had to trust my phone (showing my location on google maps), and my GPS showing the direction I needed to go, since the track was almost non existent in places. Once at GZ, the hint and the find was easy, but do watch out for thorns on the spiky tree trunk. The log has almost disintegrated so I left a small piece of waterproof paper, TFTC

I love this cache to bits! The challenge of trying to find your way to somewhere in New Zealand when it’s in the middle of some bush and there could be loads of false trials is so fascinating. Luckily I chanced upon an old log where people were following the trail that we were doing and referred to a path that I thought we’d already seen. Unfortunately at the fork in the path I hadn’t read the hint suggesting we keep near the stream, so we backtracked a little and then followed an absolutely delightful path, the very antithesis of the manicured paths DOC love, and at GZ the host was so obvious. For me this is perfection, a geocacher’s geocache if ever I saw one. And to add to the fun it’s over two years since the last find. Favourite point for sure!!

We managed to locate the tortuous track and blindly followed on. As soon as we saw the hint things became clear!! Great secluded hiding place! Have an FP and TFTC

I needed this particular D/T combination to complete a NZ challenge that I signed on my first day in NZ.
With limited places to enter this area I found the most likely from satellite imagery ad began following track, creeks and fence lines to GZ which wasn't too hard but I did get a lot further way before I got closer. the return journey wasn't quite so easy after a couple failed attempts at finding shortcuts and slipping in one of the streams I finally got back to the car, hot and short of breathe but my name on the log sheet Cool

We still had our gumboots on from the CITO and I was glad to be wearing them. We parked in George Pt Rd and walked down the stairs collecting the Pokemon cache on our way. This is the last cache at this end of the trail for me and I've been keen to get it for ages. We had time today so off we set. It seemed an easy path today as somebody had recently chopped away the weeds along the tracks edge. I enjoyed the swing bridge but wondered where the other bridge went to. I had a great time exploring this track and the cache was an easy find, thanks Smile

Thank god someone had been here recently and slashed the grass. Quick find at gz.. I like the overhanging structure. Tftc

This near the back of my family home. Walked this track since birth and never knew this was here. Thanks for he hide.

This surely was an adventure - what a maze of random wooden plank bridges in all directions, hidden among damp and overgrown vegetation! After getting wet from the vegetation I was determined to find this cache. GZ is very over-grown with wandering jew and I had a little trouble in uncovering the cache. Found the cache only to find the log was too wet to sign, so added a new paper.

Out on the bike again tonight to look for a couple to keep the 2017 streak going. The criss-cross of trails here are certainly getting overgrown, so I parked the bike near the swingbridge and walked to GZ. Disturbed a Ruru there, but it moved again before I had a chance to get a photo. It must have been a nice trail before if all the little bridges encountered, are anything to go by.

Log was quite damp and crumbly, but managed to find a spot to sign.

All the times I've walked this track I've never been this way however when heading back I couldn't help but feel I have been here before. Maybe as a kid on a primary school bush walk but what a lovely hidden trail. Was easy to find our way through the bush and every fork we came to we just happen to pick the right way to go. Only was it when we got to the cache did we read the hint that would have helped had we needed to decide which way to go. Tftc this is one we will remember.

Quite tricky finding the right trail,I remember that impressive swing bridge from years ago.Took the wrong track uphill ,went past a cool bamboo cave and started seeing houses, backtracked and found the correct path.Easily found the cache after that.Tftc.

I'm back up in my home town of Whangarei for the holiday period and today joined up with fellow Auckland cacher yorkshirekiwi83 and local caching friends tikitour for a hot summers day of caching around the city. The logs were either signed with our caching names or some combination of the letters T,V & Y for our caching names - depending on who had previously found the caches. As we approached the end of the day we decided to tackle the Waimahanga Track and look for the caches located along there. We left one car at Waverly St, then drove around to Pah road to start the trail. We made our way up the trail to nowhere and made a quick find of the cache once we reached GZ. TFTC!

Decided to finish the year and see in the new year in Whangarei, Vistra and tikitour decided to join me and we spent the time grabbing caches around the region, in some cases it was just one that needed to sign in others it was all three of us, signed as TYV (or combination of those letters) or VY when it was more than 1 of us.

Walked a circuit of the track and picked up the caches along it, wow this was a cache to pay attention to your feet on, random wooden planks as bridges in random directions, following the directions in the hint we soon found GZ and the cache was quickly in hand, coords spot on as well. TFTC

Checked up on the cache on my way home. The former trail is becoming increasingly overgrown and boggy in places so I will increase the terrain difficulty (was 3). Cache is still in place.

Interesting trail to explore after our egg hunt with some of the group. Hadn't been down this track before although Mr tikitour had with his hash harrier group so knew where we were heading. Definitely not one for a rainy day as was slippery in some places but worth the side trip. Thanks for the cache.

Great time to explore this side trail with others after such a fun Easter hunt nearby. Bit on the slippery side in places of this wee track , but in saying that I did have the wrong footwear on. Tftc

Found this cache while out with GTWorks to locate and log some Onerahi hides. This one was certainly at the end of the trail, not sure whether the trail eventually went somewhere as we returned the way we came.

17:36 15 October 2014 Riser5 1219 FTF nice way cache after a confusing track find from George point road. Thought I would give the others a chance for a FTF but it was still there when I got there tonight. Of all the time I've lived in Onerahi; I've never come up this track. The start yes. But not this far.
