I had checked to see that it was close to low tide during the morning, and I thought that would allow better launch conditions from the Gold Coast Spit/Seaway. The kayak to the suggested little beach/cove on South Stradbroke Island was approximately 1.2 km each way, with my return journey into the strong winds taking about 20 min, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/10496123139). The suggested cove waypoint was great, and I was glad to have paddled the extra distance to this safe disembarkment location, rather than attempting to get off and brave the slippery rocks.Once on the island's tip, I walked a distance of 3.2 km across a duration of 1:10 hr, with a mix of walking and jogging as I was keen to keep this a short trip with increasing winds and higher waves. There were a few other boats with a family enjoying the cove, but otherwise, I didn't see anyone else on the island (unsurprisingly?). An enjoyable adventure to the southern tip today!I decided to make this my first cache on the island, so after securing my kayak at the suggested "Boat Parking" waypoint, I made my way here. Nearby to the cover, it almost looked like someone had setup a camp with their belongings strung about, and there was even some kind of floating sink contraption! I continued to the prize, which was across a lot of downed trees and around the tree-bushes. Once at GZ, there was only really one tree that matched this geocache's theme, and it alluded me for a few minutes until spotting it. The cache container and logbook were in reasonably good shape, with the logbook slightly damp (but still usable). After I signed and secured the container back together, I spotted a cool flying cricket nearby, so that was interesting. Thanks Net88 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 734 days [24.1 months / 2.01 years] of unfound love since its last find on 1/01/2022.----------Today, with a CITO event scheduled in the Broadwater Parklands in Southport, it was a trip south to the Gold Coast. After finding lots of rubbish around the water's edge, I ventured around to the Spit and after a short walk, it was a trip in the kayak to South Stradbroke Island across the channel. In the afternoon, I potted around Southport visiting reserves and parks, which included my highlight visiting the Brickworks Centre. At the beginning and end of the trip's travels, I visited several Locations from the [Theme Parks of South East Queensland](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/103147d5-9a5e-494c-b263-91e99988d7b8) Adventure Lab: Dreamworld, Sea World, Movie World, and WetnWild.
Happy new year to all. I’ve been wanting to attack this group of green dots for ages. Now the workman have long gone, and I’ve worked out where to land the Jetski, it’s time to attack.

When I hired the kayak I was strictly instructed not to go on the back of Wavebreak Island, lest the tide take me to Fiji. Unfortunately being low tide meant a very long against the tide journey from the Isle of Terror. I was grateful to make a quick find.
What a great day to be out on the boat!. few mishaps and many laughter's during out this fun day. Thank you everybody for a great day. Thank you for the great hide Captain
last one on the island for me today this had me going in circles must be here somewere kept going back to same spot so just perservered and yaay spotted nicely camoed in, time to head back to ski oo ohh beached after a bit of a hussle managed to get it partially back in the water, phew TFTC lokky1
My first terrain 5 cache I think. Visiting an old chum on the gold coast, I was delighted to discover that she planned to take me out on her new jet ski this morning. This opened up some possibilities that I didn't think I'd have. We spend the morning bombing around all the islands trying to get some T5 caches. Unfortunately we only managed to find one. This one, and it was debutant LittleRio12 who spotted it, not me. I was still chuffed to have got it though. We nearly spent much more time he than we'd hoped too as, while we were hunting, our jet ski had become banked as the tide went out. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't get it back in the water. Fortunately a couple of boatmen pulled up not far away and we were able to attract their attention with our sos arm waving routine. Gotta give this an FP to commemorate our adventure. Tftc and UTV
No luck here, just a lot of 'No Entry'signs and a works plant today. Nice yak and walk though.
Mmmm always helps if u look in the right place once I changed the location cache was quickly found and signed. TFTC
Parked the skis at the suggested spot and I wandered off into the sand while my muggle husband did some fishing. It didn’t take me too long to locate using the hint, and by the the time I got back he’d caught two fish! A few minutes later and extra 3! So, a great spot all round, thanks for bringing us here and TFTC!
This one proved to be quite elusive but eventually found it.

Our last cache down here this morning before going to meet our friends for breakfast and a swim. Originally we were going to pull the pin on our plans today due to the look of the earlier weather, we are glad we didn’t as we are now sweating profusely out here and can’t wait to get back into the water. We went from busted weather to a spectacular day, picked up six and a half years unloved collectively from our target caches, had friends bring down their boat to meet at Tipplers for breakfast and got to test drive a boat attachment for the geo-jet, ludicrously overpriced so that won’t be coming, but fun all the same.
As we are searching here another call comes through, Mr 4ando’s cousins want to meet later at Harrigan’s for a drink, yeah we can pull that off as they have a mooring point out the back, this day just keeps on giving, take that earlier rain!
No muggles on the land here but plenty in the ocean, we had a few jetskiers out there bobbing in the water but they were paying no attention to us at all, after finding the cache we returned to our parking bay just as a few kayakers were arriving so we moved out of their way to give them some room and off we zoomed for breakfast high fiving each other at our collective six and a half years unloved this morning.

Out and about in a hire boat collecting some water caches Lots of laughs, lessons learned, and stories told. I was told the first letter of each of our names was used to make the team name WADERS which is very appropriate because there was lots of that going on today!! I had such a fantastic day, thanks to team work, and great COs, thanks!
Out on a hire boat with the WADERS (Wanda, Amanda, Di, Elena, Rod & Sam) today to claim some water caches and some good terrain ratings! Lots of fun and laughs as sandbars, mud baths (damn soft sinking mud), songs and stories were enjoyed by all. Thanks for the opportunity for a great day out on the water Net88 and Tftc!
The WADERS (Selva Girls, stortigirls, NeverSayDi, E:), Mr RoddyC and EatSleepCacheRepeat) hired a boat for a day on the water. What a fun day! The others went one way and I went the other. this meant that I was able to spot the cache My height helped retrieve the log. To save space, the log has been signed as WADERS. TFTC
Was here with the WADERS Team today ( W-selvagirls, A-stortigirls, D-neversaydi, E-E(:, R-roddyc and S-eatsleepcacherepeat). Hired a boat for the day. What a glorious day with wonderful company.
Been longing to put smileys in this area.
10th find of the day. It's good to have lots of eyes looking for caches.
TFTC net88. I would not have dreamt of going to this place otherwise! What a fabulous day even if we hit some sand bars, some accidental swimming and mud baths.

While Mrs Just a Trifle found herself unexpectedly in Perth, Mr Just a Trifle decided to go for a drive and go for a paddle to find a few caches down the coast It was a bit of a challenge trying to paddle across to the island as the incoming tide was carrying him up the passage. The return trip was much better even though the tide was outgoing as the wind was behind him and he was able to catch a few waves and was surfing along on them when he could
After paddling across to the island, Mr Just a Trifle hot footed to this cache as the first of the remainder of the GCPT series to be found. The GPS didn't seem to want to settle at ground zero but after a short search in a few likely spots, the cache was soon found and the log signed.
Mr Just a Trifle had an enjoyable day, finding a variety of caches as he went. Thank you Net88 for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

With the mornings activities out of the way it was time to see how much of a dash we could do around the islands and sea wall in the kayak. A few spots it was easier to walk the kayak along the sand due to the current and winds. It's certainly worth keeping clear of the two break walls on the island as there was white water and a very visible current. Certainly a few boats out today and nice to see some Dolphins out. We took the bush bash way into CaleD is Breaking Waves and this was the hardest to find as the GPSr bounced around and the hint matches so many spots. Small Bertha had us tricked as the cache container was full of water so we picked it up and put it down when we heard all the water. Eventually we realised and emptied out the water but the log was unsignable. Out along the Seawall for the unofficial GCPT and we spotted a couple of small wallabies in the shade. A bit of looking for some but we got there in be end. TFTC.
Tricky tricky tricky! I was grasping at straws for this Hide and had just started to read previous logs when my more senior caching companion spotted the box --- I wasn't even in the right tree. Try the tree about 5 metres back from the water's edge and then about 2.5 metres up Job done. And what a serene view from GZ [^]
So now it was back to the rental tinny - pack up the Trifeca and their fishing gear - across the Gold Coast Seaway - and back to the Biggera Creek boat ramp.

While out on the high seas for a spot of plundering (cache finding), our merry band of sailors* continued on to get this series of caches. Pulled up at the beach to start our hike to these caches.
With many in our group not as nimble at walking through fallen trees and sand as others, the cache was found before some of us had even seen the tree.
Logbook signed by all and returned.

Out on a high seas adventure with our 3 boats. I was in a group of 3 teaming up with patrol14, and then there was a boat of 4 with diamonjs, Rusty85 and Crew153 and then a 6 seater with RoddyC, Nadine1989, Termingi and vennfamily as they called the yellow sand bucket but I called it the yellow submarine.
This was the first one on this island. Nine teams faced this ficus.
I have a huge ficus on my front lawn just starting to go over the driveway.
The cache was retrieved.
Log signed and returned to how we found it.
A lovely island but hard to walk on where it is very sandy.

Almost twelve months ago we first mooted the idea of boating up to do the T5 caches on the northern Gold Coast waterways. Over the last few weeks we settled on today to ire the boat, but somehow it grew to three boats - a party of , including DiamonJS, Rusty85, Team Benders, Crew 153, Nadine1989, Temingi (from Yeppoon), Vennfamily and Patrol14. Our first port of call was Float Your Boat 7, ending up with the GCPT - Humpback Whale.
Nice sandy beach to pull in to - pleased to see it after the seeming kilometers of harsher rock walls keeping Straddie intact on the western front. I was keen to get going and find this series of caches before having to return the boats, so I led the charge to the ficus and the cache. Nice to make a find today!

We parked our boats on the given coordinates and we walked along this power trail to collect all of the caches. I really liked this power trail. It is a little bit complicated to walk through the bush but it was still a lot of fun especially in this big group of 12 cachers.
We had a flotilla of 3 boats with 12 people on board and after completing the Float Your Boat Series and a few other caches along the way we were determined to find the extra caches in the GCPT series which had appeared after the original series.
We pulled in at the small inlet and anchored up. A short stroll over the flattened trees and it was a quick find for the group.
Thanks Net.

RoddyC extended an invite to me a couple of days ago for a spot on a hire boat to collect some T5 caches. We rocked up this morning at Southport and we were introduced to the plastic bucket, as coined by Mr Patrol14, - a large, yellow, plastic thing with a 6hp motor which was to be our transportation for the day.
After completing the Float Your Boat series and stopping for lunch at Jabiru Island, we began the trip back, stopping a couple of times on South Straddie to collect a couple of caches. Then we pulled up at the beach indicated for this series and got out of the boats to do some walking.
This cache was the first one to visit and RoddyC made the find and I retrieved the log.

Gotcha !!! An invitation from RoddyC to join a crew of pirates on a raid of treasures hidden around the Gold Coast waterways was very welcome. Hopped out of the hammock before 5 bells and set sail for Crew153's anchorage to stow away for the land trip south to pick up " The Yellow Pearl " or should that be Peril ? , our Pirate Ship for the day. Think she needed careening as we were the slowest boat in the fleet of three. Still Captain Blair or should that be Bligh did a sterling job of navigating the Good ?? Ship through the treacherous shoals and sandbars to the hidden treasures we were seeking. Didn't find any treasure but we left our marks " X " in each of the Treasure chests we found.
Thanks to Capt. Herbz, Capt. Terror and the other pirates that hid the treasure chests we searched for.
The day was an eye opener for me .Thanks to all involved.

A weekend Fergclan and i had been planning for a long time. A few new caches had popped up here since my last visit and i was keen to finish them. We arrived at our launcking area just after 7am. After unloading the canoe i notioned to Fergclan about the whereabouts of the paddles. Oops.
A 10 minute trip and we were ready. We set off for this one as it suited the tides. We arrived at the small beach and began our walk. We arrived at gz and made a quick find.
Thanks

From where we parked we went straight here past wavebreak as that was how the tide was going to suit us for the morning,as this was our first this morning at 7am and it was pouring rain we wondered how the day would be,but we were going whatever.Had to stand back and look for a while till we spotted it.TFTC.Nett88
A boating adventure today with 22 out of 23 found (2 unloved) with Gulliverstravel54, cantcachus2014 and i. Starting our day at the runaway bay boat ramp (630am) we only had a small window it find 16 of them before the sea way was in a lock down at 10am as the 1st Xcats power boat championship was here on the gold coast and we didn't want people watching us while we were finding all the hides. Out of the area and clear of the lock down but 30mins we headed north the find the others, low tide up this way played havoc and killed so much of our time up this way. tftcsl

found the parking bay suggested and tied up as I was worried about the powerboats going past and the kayak drifting off. wandered off down the path to find this cache, bit of a stretch but then wondered why the cap had a mirror in it, checked my non existent make up (I'm kayaking not partying today after all) and replaced all for the next person. tftc nett88

Out for a day cruising around on the Broadwater with my muggle brother and nephew and convinced them to accompany me on some of the local caches. Having polished off the Isle of Terror and most of the caches on Wavebreak Island, it was time to turn our attentions to South Stradbroke. We managed to find the anchorage point easily enough, and there was another boat tied up there but no one to be seen. Thought it may have been another cacher but the absence of any other names in logs proved otherwise. I was pretty disgusted by the amount of rubbish that grubs had left lying around the place - obviously a huge effort for some to take back with them what they brought in the first place!! We headed off to GZ and after finally identifying the right tree the cache was located and my nephew dispatched to make the retrieval. TFTC
Today seemed like a good day to take Madge out and see how she would go in some tougher conditions.
I started nice and early, but the wind was still up and the broadwater was quite choppy.
Madge is much more stable than my old ski and I had no trouble staying up right. I had the wind and the current with me, so it did not take long to get to the parking spot for the caches over on the island.
A short walk to this one. I can identify some fig trees, but this would not have been on my list of I know what that is. [:o)] I did know some of the other trees around, so I could eliminate them form the search. I fairly quick find here.
I was pushed to my limits to open the cache and get the log though.

I am still trying to increase my difficultly average for a certain Challenge cache close to the Stanthorpe MEGA event over Easter.
So there is this group of caches out on Wave Break island and South Straddie that were not there when I last visited both places. [^]
After my last visit I learnt a little bit about the strong currents that appear at certain times of the tide, so I changed my timing of the tides and also my start location. 4 Swims instead of 5 swims with 2 of them being shorter due to sand bars appearing at low water. [^]
Little Bertha was my first stop, where I discovered I had forgotten a pen, so borrowed the pen from there for the day and returned it to the cache at the end of the day. The swim across from wave break Island was relatively easy without the currents pushing me the wrong way. [^] The swim back to Wave Break was right on low water so no nasty currents but I did drift a little which made the swim a little longer but no problems.
My third stop on South Straddie today. I did pick the right tree first up but of course I stood on the wrong side of the tree and so this one took a little while to spot. The cache is dry and in good condition.
Thanks for the cache.

After grabbing the two northern caches we sailed south and made shoe at the recommended waypoint. After getting ashore we headed north along the trails and made our way to the first find for caches at this end of the trail. We arrived at GZ and there was some discussion on the local species of trees, before Swellerfungus made the find.

The two vessels set off as part of Geo Cruise II embarking for foreign lands and a voyage of discovery. Little did we know we were actually boarding the slow boat to China.
A good day was had by all on the water, in the water, on land, through the forests and even venturing out to the ocean front (on foot).

The Geo Cruise II set sail from Southport and I was appointed the dubious task of captaining the "SS Jaune" for the duration of the Voyage. We were now on our Southerly tack and the trusty (not quite leaky) boat was berthed not far from here and left with a watch of previous finders while the crew of swarthy land lubbers set off to discover treasures hidden on the island. Waterbound this morning as Captain of the "blue" boat, ten of us pulled up a fraction South of this one and made the most of the location to clear out the caches on the island. Ruzzelz and I required the four new ones, but the crew on board the vessels needed the lot, so the walks commenced in planned manner.
I nipped out to get the ones I needed then made a beeline back to the mooring place to guard the boats. Not that they really needed guarding, it was more about making sure they did not swing sideways and fill up with water from the wakes of the boats. Ruzzelz and I rescued a boat on our last trip and was not keen on doing the same for our fleet. Keeping them in order was relentless and all who helped out over the time suffered many stings from the plague of jellyfish... Oh the joy...
To the cache though, Swellerfungus brought out his botany skills and identified the right tree. Once the focus was on, the cache was spotted and I sensed some influence from another cacher in this hide... The log proved difficult to get out and none of us had brought an extraction tool DOH. SO with the aid of a twig, we snuck it out and added our names...
All done, we trekked south to pick up the next.
Cheers Net88.

As part of Geo Cruise number 2 today we visited caches on South Stradbroke Island, Wavebreak Island, and a Torror-ble Island. Lots of fun and geo chatter made the day a pleasant (but very hot) one.

Parked the tinny in the small bay & then wandered off to locate the caches.

Out on a southern adventure with Orange Crew and Luke from Slow Puncture and boy were we in for a day of surprises, ending in one of the worst storms in 30 years!!
Hmmmm... What does a fig tree look like?!
We probably found the most hardest path through to this cache! Being the teeniest bit accident prone, I just watched where my feet went rather than where I was going, so, I did manage to bump my head a few times and I think this is the cache that saw me go over! Not very graceful at all....
But soon the cache was in hand and all was good with the world again!!

Out for a day of boating fun zipping around the Broadwater with Slow Puncture and Team DNA. The most Northerly of this bunch was spotted in a jiffy, and we made short work of signing and returning. Getting a hang of this now, onward we trudge through the sand to find our next one. TFTC
Today, Team Armenia set out for an excursion to the Gold Coast, primarily to attack Wavebreak Island, Terror Island, South Stradbroke Island and Coombabah Creek in Orange Crew's powerboat (tinnie).
Why Team Armenia? ORANGE Crew, Team DNA (of RED Rocket fame) and Slow Puncture (of BLUE Thunder not-so-much-fame). Know your vexillology, people (Yes, I did have to look up Armenia's flag...).
Following Banksia, we forged North, to Fig. This one was also found reasonably fast, signed and returned. On the way back, we chose a slightly easier route than the one there.

I have totally forgot to log this island of caches!
Better late than never but it does make it hard to tell a story about the find.
I do know I had myself and Geono. continually checking the time as it was countdown to school pick up

MrsG likes to think she knows her botany but when we arrived at GZ, what the fig! we didn't know which one to pick. Fortunately the cache was spotted before every tree in the vicinity was searched. TFTC and the GCPT additions Net88, loved the hint.
This is the last on the tip of Stradbroke and what a walk back from Humpback.
Arrive at GZ and set about the search. Took what seemed an eternity, but finally Barb spots the container. Well I was looking much higher .
Log signed, cache replaced, another terrain box filled. Now off to Wavebreak.

Having just left GCPT Humpback Whale I was hobbling through the sheoak track like an old man. Every step I took I was swearing and cursing myself for not bringing my thongs. Far out these little nuts are sharp, I soon realised the light brown one's were the newer one's which are sharper. Occasionally I'd have to stop and rub a foot on the other to dislodge one that was sticking in a bit to deep. I looked over a few times to see if I could see Hot Wheels Duo patiently waiting for me at Wave break but with the sun's glare on the water it was impossible.
I eventually made my way out of the torturess sheoak track and never thought I'd be so happy to be walking on sand with broken shells in it, ahhhhhh. I had chained up my kayak to one of the sign's up the main track so it was either head up there and grab my thongs or continue on through probably my sheoak nuts to GZ.
No pain no gain right? So on I pushed, however this time I had to also dodge broken bottles, fire pits, rusty tins and a lot more rubbish then I ever thought was over here. Why on earth do you go to such a beautiful place like this then not give a toss how you leave it, some people are beyond me. I slowly weaved and hobbled my way to GZ where I spotted the hide without to much trouble, surprisingly. FTF @ 4:30pm.
I dragged my kayak back down onto the beach and just stood in the water for a few minutes, ahhhh the relief on my feet was amazing.
I jumped on board and headed off towards Wave breaks rock wall where I could now see HWD waiting for me. I had just gone past the very tip of the wall when out in front of me I saw a fin go down into the water. Oh $&@%, I hope thats not a shark I thought to myself, with a few more profanities of course. I slowly paddled along with my eyes pealed and was so relieved to see two dolphins come out of the water. Wow, from fear to delight in a few seconds. HWD had been watching them the whole time I was away.
Thanx again Net88

Last one of the day as the GCPT gets it's most northerly addition. Good job Nett88. By the way CT...that bubbly thing going on under the water near GZ was, in fact, a dugong farting.

Once upon a time, all the GCPT were south of that boat parking waypoint. They were such great days
But another Terrain 5 geocache is always welcome, isn't it? Today I wound up on South Stradbroke Island with Net88 and Herbz via their super speedy and somewhat sporty tinnie (well, it is compared to my canoe and tiny outboard). Having just legged it around the existing geocaches for finds, views and maintenance we now were diving into the bag of ready to hide geocache containers, again courtesy of Herbz.
In keeping with the Gold Coast Power Trail trend, net had chosen to go with different varieties of plants (she rejected my idea of noxious species - cane toad, lantana, brumby and fox) so this was the second of hers and now starting to travel north a little bit. At least the vague track heads this direction somewhat and passes a giant pipey thing that made strange noises and blew bubbles - something related to the sand pumping operation no doubt.
A fig tree was spotted - such an easily identifiable species I think - despite many varieties. And so a perfect spot for the next hide. The container was hidden with Herbz and Captain Terror written after the FTF space and we all grabbed some numbers for the co-ordinates.
What a great day we had - lovely area, clear waters and friendly company. Although I was abandoned at the parking co-ordinates for some time while the two ladies were shuttled back to the boat ramp and Mr. Herbz returned to collect me. Just as well because I'm an awful swimmer! TFTC Net88
