Last cache of the weekend and I know why the last 2 visitors couldnt find it. It was halfway between where it should of been . Put it back in its proper spot. TFTC and The piano man must be back under contract as I heard the keys tinkling once more.
Unfortunately, the piano man was stoney silent. No plaintiff strains were heard echoing across the meadow.
Thought this would be a quick pullover and find, but alas nobody was tinkling the ivories today.Had a good fossick around.
Very busy road today. An easy find with @peadub. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
Dodged the traffic during Wellington Anniversary weekend to cross the road. Cache was nicely tucked away. Signed, returned, and took my life into my hands to get back to the car. Tftc
Found with little blue hen on our way to whanganui. No rock music evident today. T4tcsl

Another fun little cache placement, haven't seen one of these sitting on a post in a paddock before! TFTC

A quick find with Talla64 on our way north to Rattl's Christmas Barbecue. TFTC.
Quick find after attending an event close by. The cache was dry even after so much rain lately.

Thanks so much to caching pals the rattlls this one has a new log and container which should be more water resistant. Thanks guys!
#9492. Saturday was a stunning day in Wellington and I spent most of it inside doing chores and writing up the last of my logs from the Easter geocaching trip down south. When ANZAC Day Sunday dawned sunny I couldn't face a second day inside on a long weekend so decided a short road trip was in order. There are a stack of orphaned caches in the Manawatu that I seem to have managed to drive past while caching out the neighbourhood and so todays plan was to mop them all up if possible. So set off on a trip to Levin, Foxton, Bulls and Marton region before arriving home after dark. A fun day out and while the wind picked up in the afternoon it remained fine until dusk. Managed to get 22 finds and just 4 DNF's remaining that need some extra research.
I spotted the piano as I was driving past and screeched to a halt. Made sure I parked well off the road as it busy today. Walked back to GZ and had a nice quick find of the cache. However the logbook has really suffered a serious meltdown and the page I was signing disintegrated in my hand. Managed to get a signature into the book but its in dire need of replacing. Sadly I forgot to grab my main caching bag with spare logbooks today so couldn't replace the log. Thanks capperz for hiding the cache here.

As this cache is heading for 7 years old, I have asked a local cacher to check in on this for me, thanks.
a quick find but what a mess the bag of log books and sheets is, cache was also full of water, time the co did some tlc, tftc
We decided to venture out this afternoon to find another 41 caches so we finish the year on 500 caches.
This is our third cache of the day. An easy find once I paid attention to the GPS and hint a bit more instead of assuming I knew best!
TFTC capperz!

Day 1 of my week long road trip of geocaching, camping and seeing a few bands. Today I left Wellington mid morning and battled the SH1 traffic most of the way, caching as I headed for Wanganui. For the fist time I am using the cachetur.no website and app to plan out my caching, and so far I am liking it.
I've been wanting to stop for this one many times on my trips up here, but the traffic and/or daylight was never on my side. Today it finally happened, and after safely pulling off the road made a quick find. Sadly the log book here is a bit of a mess, but was able to sign and tidy it up a little. TFTC.

(# 6411). This weekend I traveled up to Wanganui primarily to attend the famous Rattl Christmas event on te Sunday. So what could be better than going up one day early in order to grab a few caches. The weather treated me well and it was a successful trip. A quick find. Everything in order. Thanks for bringing me here.
Cache # 4,905 - A quick find as others have said. However the recent rains have not been kind to the cache, with a lot of moisture inside the container and the logsheet almost unusable. Great spot, though. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Ha! Great place to hide a cache. Log when found is currently soaked. Awesome views too while heading to wanganui.
Nice day out with tmann421 and blair137 hunting caches
Great to be able to stop and get these caches. Traffic not too bad today

We stopped couldn't find at first but when thoroughly looking we finally found it
I have driven past this site many times in the knowledge that there was a cache here. There are other caches alongside busy highways that I am not that keen on stopping for but, in this case, there is an obvious feature to remind me of the presence of an unfound cache. I decided this morning would be a good one to finally take care of business. As expected, traffic wasn't as busy as it can often be and I was quickly able to retrieve, record and replace without drawing too much attention to myself.
I'm sure I surprised the truck behind me when I pulled over for 'no apparent reason'. TFTC.
It’s not often I have the whole day to cache and set off early to try and collect as many Shield caches as possible. On the way there I pick up a few traditionals. Cache was all fine. Thanks
In Marton for a meeting, staying in the camper and doing some geocaching. Mrs S found this one hie Mr S turned the camper around. The container full of water but the log was dry.
Thanks capperz.
Thanks capperz.
I don't drive this way usually and didn't know this was here. It's in remarkably good condition and I wonder how the piano man gets up to play it.
Day 4/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #8/43 for the day and #177/526 of our trip.
While staying in Palmerston North we took a daytrip to Whanganui to see what we could see. It was a great day but so hot! A very cool feature here so we took a few photos first (which are now stuck forever in my phone) and then we found the cache. The container was nearly full of water and the 2 old logs soaking wet infact there was water trapped inside the bag. The log left by Twig was still sealed so was still dry so we removed the old ones dried it out and signed the dry log all while signing Piano Man by Billy Joel. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.

A fantastic day to be out on the road caching, especially when you're making your merry way back from having just attended a great BBQ and caught up with plenty of good folk from the wider Manawatu-Wanganui community.
I was keen to try to claim some finds on or near SH3 between Wanganui and Sanson as I hadn't had any time up here since the same event last year and so there are still tons for me to go for. The weather had certainly turned it on for the day, and I was in no rush to head back home.
It's not often that you find a piano mounted on a pole stuck out in a paddock, so I can see why you'd want to place a cache here. The cache itself was a relatively easy find thanks to the good co-ords and Hint. However the contents of the cache were saturated. In fact the container was half full of water which I poured out, but the logbook was unsignable. This obviously happens a lot as there were 2 logbooks already in the container., and now there is a third as I supplied a dry one in a new plastic bag in the hope that it will stay dry for others for a while at least.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Drained out the water as cache was completely full of it. Managed to scribble on the log.
I think it was this cache that was full of water and I had to empty it and could barely sign the log. A quick find and TFTC.
Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Bulls and the sunrounding areas many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
Heading to Wellington Mega a day earlier with Squirrel Nutcase and NZ Flossy a day earlier.
Out to collect caches that we have previously passed.
So sorry cache owners, we had a fairly large find today so it's a copy and paste day.
Thanks everyone for their cache placements that we found. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is almost here... Motoring south today with Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy. Our intention is to cache our way to our accommodation in Lower Hutt... The big news of the day is that Highway 1 is closed at Pukerua Bay. A truck crash and chemical spill have shut down all lanes coming to and from Wellington. We have plenty of caches to find to keep us occupied, but this could be a long wait...
Friday: The road was quite busy through here, and we had to wait in between vehicles to do the business. Another interesting location along this main road... TFTC.

On my way to the mega with Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Having lots of fun and enjoying the ride and the scenery. It’s what I love about caching - great company and visiting great places. Thanks to all the COs for all their caches Hopefully we see some of them at the mega this weekend TFTC
Picking up a few caches on the way through to New Plymouth. Container was full of water. TFTC
I was surprised at how much water I needed to tip out of the cache container. A little water music perhaps. TFTC
I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. This is a qualifying cache for the S40 Challenge. All good here. TFTC

With the views from Gz today I would have expected bluegrass music... TFTC from Team IE
How does that pianos stay there without being blown over by the wind? Signed Team IE. TFTC

I have seen the piano before, but haven't had time to stop for the cache.
Stopped off today on my way to Wanganui for the Masters Games.
A quick find.
Cache is a bit rusty and the log is slightly damp, but all good otherwise.
Thanks.

Heading home from attending the 2016 International GIFF event in Palmerston North and took the opportunity to nab a few outstanding caches not previously found. Admired this small grand on many previous road trips. Good to finally put it to bed. TFTC
Of course this spot deserves a cache. I rocked over and grabbed it quickly

That's fun. I'm sure a certain Marlborough DJ would've made something out of this had there been something similar down that way. TFTC #9256
Again we were able to stay in the car and send master 6, 8 and 10 (the car was right next to it) - log a little damp and starting to come apart (not wet) - Tftc
Have never noticed the piano before we normally are driving in the dark. Quick stop and find. TFTC
Quick detour on the way out from an orienteering event in nearby Santoft Forest. The phone isn't as accurate as the GPS, but geosense made the difference.
Banian and I found this cache on our autumn northern roadtrip- where we did a circuit of the north island from Wellington right up to Raglan, then across to Napier through Taupo, before heading home, finding masses of caches and discovering a plethora of unique and interesting locations.
Not the best place to pull off, but a suitably notable object nearby to warrant the stop. TFTC

1758 Knew I was in the right place. Eventually could just touch but not retrieve. Eventually I was able. Did not return so far in.
Needed one cache today to continue towards the current target of finds on 50 consecutive days. Only had time for a quick “park and grab” on our drive from Wellington to a wedding in New Plymouth. This was it for the day. Quickly located fortunately. #1064. TFTC.
