TFTC Na'wal and this series. So glad to be back out and about. Wonderful day today with little wind and some clouded sunshine. Looking forward to the physical challenge, as lack of exercise will surely play its part in determining how far we get in the Zoo. TNLN Cache container is in very poor shape.
TFTC - found with the kids. Cache needs repair - it has become brittle due to the weather.
Back in the area to find a few more caches here.this one need some maintenance to the container. Tftc
Tftc. Container is broken and log is wet but I still managed to sign the log. Out and about getting some smilies in the area with my geodog
Joined with Dippa46 for a day of caching in the area. We spent a fun day driving the back roads of Geelong. It was quite a squeeze to negotiate the gate to gain access to the park. TFTC
MazzyMay and I went for a day to this area to have a go at finding what we could, a good day out. TFTC
Nice easy find. Cache was open, laying on the ground and full of water. Not good from the last person that found it. According to the log, that was yesterday. Log book luckily intact and not wet.
I headed to the You Yangs for a day of walking, mountain biking and caching. I decided it was time to visit the Na'wal Zoo in the afternoon and I had unrivalled access to the exhibits all on my own.
The home stretch after very long day. I do enjoy butterfly houses though they always seem to land on everyone else except me. The butterfly garden in Singapore Airport was a fun way to spend time in between flights. TFTC

Out and about in the You Yangs today , we had intending doing the "Great Circuit Drive "series but the road was closed , so instead did the Puzzle Time and the Zoo series . Most were quick finds while others led us round in circles until finally found

Came to the You Yangs on a beautiful morning in pursuit of my 3000th cache. Followed the GPS between the trees. I had not visited this part of the Yangs before - flat, bushy, like a plantation. Loving the preparation of the caches. This is it - my 3000th cache!!! An FP for a great series. TFTC
A quick find here.
Mr Riddell quickly found it hanging around,as Mrs Riddell had just trip over and fallen to the ground.

The last time we were in the area was when we were Hunting For The Na'wal, a caching experience we really enjoyed. So when we saw the Zoo Series, they went onto our "to do"list very quickly. We went to the Zoo today, our second last day before returning home tomorrow night.
We spent ages looking for this cache, all without success. Our GPS was a little unsettled and that meant that we were roaming over a small area but didn't have any success. We decided to leave this hunt and move on to other cache hunts, hoping to have time later in the day to come back for another look. While we were looking for other caches, we had an opportunity to read previous logs and found that others found the cache about 12m from GZ. After finding all the other caches, we returned before heading back to Lara for lunch. This time we concentrated on a circle 12m from GZ and it wasn't long before the cache was located. Apart from a missing butterfly, the cache and contents were in good condition. We were pleased to finally find Butterfly.
Thanks Na'wal for this cache and the series,

Previous logs correct. Cache is a consistent 12 metres out from coords. And no butterfly . Tftc anyhow . Finally found
Found with teamashy. This was our last cache of the series. Our GPS's were a bit jumpy here so we walked backward and forward till we finally spotted it. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
A weekend away with FWBs. This is a generic log to help me catch up with the long overdue logging of my found caches. Please note that each cache and location can be remembered but due to time restraints unable to personalize each log. The date logged may also differ to day found. Thank you for sharing this location for us.

A wonderful day out with the lovely echidna44 and xambo4u to visit this zoo We met up.early with blue skies and sunshine although this didn’t last all day as several showers dampened us but not our spirits as we wandered from one end of this imaginary zoo to the other. I’m always more than happy to visit a butterfly enclosure. Thanks for providing one in your zoo TFTC Na’wal
Out with au.fait & xambo4u, we spent the day visiting the unusual animals in this open plan zoo. A great day had by all.
We enjoyed the variety of animals and caches, which had us searching among the trees in sunshine and rain. I love to think the butterfly is free. Thanks Na’wal

Out and about with Echidna44 and au.fait for the day. The weather was forecasted as doubtful but that was not going to stop us. As our progresses the weather was favourable. Really enjoyed our nice easy walk through this new to us area. Sadly we did not see one of these today, where have they all gone. We did see some green hooded orchids. Signed off and ready for our next animal We are enjoying you all the work you have put into this series. Thanks for it all Na'wal and another great day out girls.
We started off looking for this but a car turned up, just sitting there so we moved on. On our return we were able to look uninterrupted. Son was so happy looking through the swag!
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Had to broaden the search area somewhat for this one but got there in the end.

Travelled from Bendigo today to hopefully complete the Zoo series. Nice winter day for family Sunday - Funday. What better way to spend a day out Geocaching. Took us a little longer, we weren’t sure we would find it, after all the DNF’s listed. We expanded the search out quite a distance. GeoDad found at 12m off the coordinates. Yay!
09:40, 31 March 2018, with Ali and riddleywalker found butterfly on ground but no cache.. a few other dnfs so I'm guessing it's gone
Sorry, Tim, Ali and I looked around. Just a butterfly on the ground, I am afraid.
I think this one has been muggled. We found a lone butterfly on the ground but no log.
Found after a picnic bbq in the park on New Years Eve. Not very busy in the park today but I heard there is an event on later. Love these themed caches. TFTC.
Had a little geocaching run around the Lara area today.
Nice weather and a Public Holiday in Ballarat meant we had a day to go for an Adventure.
Thanks for placing the cache here for us to find.

I had wanted to tackle the Zoo series in this part of the You Yangs for a while primarily because I thought it would be a great excuse for a very long walk whilst trying for twenty five caches in a day. I knew there were a couple of tree climbs required and not being much of one for them I thought I'd add a couple of extra caches not in the series as backups. The fact that both those caches counted towards challenges I was working towards didn't hurt
All of the series bar two which required tree climbs and one furthest from the main set of caches were found. I really enjoyed the finding as I got the sense I was in the bush without the associated difficulties of finding bush-based caches in thick scrub and hilly terrain. Now don't get me wrong, there's a place for those types of caches but if you're aiming for twenty five finds in a day you're unlikely to achieve the goal with those types of cache.
Highlights of the day included: 14km walked, 10 months of unlove snaffled (don't ask me why the Nocturnal multi hadn't been found for so long) and a koala seen up close as I walked back to the car after a long afternoon of caching.
Thanks for the series, Na'wal. A great use of (what I think) are toys which have been outgrown by your kids. A favourite point for the series will be added to the final mystery and I'll try and post a photo of the koala on that page as well.

I came here earlier in the year and completed the series except for this one. To day I was in the area and wanted to remove the sad face from the map. At first I thought it wasn't to be, the gps was sending me round in circles and I wasn't finding it. So I widened the search and moved to the other side of the track. Eventually I found it, 10 metres away from where my gps wanted me took look. Now I have a full set of smilies. Thanks Na'wal
Out today to finish off the zoo, been too long awaiting a time to get there... the winds today were peaking at 109kpm, the trees were swaying and bending... with runners on it was off to gather the caches.
the old GPS had a lot of trouble with gz finding today kept jumping all over the place... had to resort to pick a point and circle around until caches were spotted.
thanks to Na'wal for this series

It's taken me a long time to complete this series, and finally, on my eighth! visit, I can mark all the animals as found.
I was on my way to an event at Big Rock this evening when I decided to detour to pick up this elusive butterfly. Despite the cold the mosquitoes were out in force, and they were almost the size of butterflies . And they had heaps of time to get to me, as somehow I took a lot longer than I should have to find what was ultimately a simple hide.
My season ticket to this area came in handy considering how many times I've visited this zoo over the past 2 years. It's a great area, and has its own appeal with a lot less muggles than the eastern side.
The evening's picnic event at Big Rock was awesome - after an indigenous dance on Big Rock we had a look through telescopes at the night sky. The moon seemed as close as Big Rock itself. And even Jupiter with 4 of its moons could be clearly seen!
A lovely evening to be out and about at the You Yangs.
Thanks, Na'wal.

I did find a butterfly that may or may not have escaped from the enclosure. See attached photo. Can you tell me if this constitutes a find?
Veni vinodi vinoci!
I actually saw a real butterfy, and a butterfly remnant possibly from an older cache, at GZ. But no cache for me.
It's not the first time I've DNFd a D1. It's a good thing I have a season ticket for this zoo, as I'll be back.

More than 2 years after I first visited this zoo I came back today to finish it off for once and for all on my sixth visit. (Although that didn't happen as an elusive butterfly had fluttered away from me so I'll have to return for a seventh time to see one more enclosure.)
As is often the case with D1s this was a DNF for me, and disappointingly for me the only one in the series. It is close to the road and there was evidence of 'logging' nearby, but other than a discarded butterfly which I assume had been in the container no logbook or container could be found.
Thanks for the hunt, Na'wal, and it seems like a 7th visit is required for me .

After all the rain the main path to this cache was a cesspool of mud and we weren't going to venture in, particularly so early in the caching day! May be next time.
Well we netted the last easy one here will be back for the rest. Great kids series thank you

Always love visiting the butterfly enclosure, and we weren't disappointed here! Huge butterfly that was happy we payed a visit. Being close to the car park and the rain getting a little heavier we contemplated calling it a day, but with the nocturnal house on the way we thought why not.
Thanks Na'wal, we're having a ball.

Very cool cache this one! Tftc. Kids loved it. Some swaps made here and a few of your caches we did earlier but forgot to mention!
Set out today to do the series and get a few extra caches under our belt.
Easy find, creative.

On the home straight and nearly finished the series. Took the tb that was located here. Released all the butterflies and I'm on my way to the snakes. Tftc.
Headed out with Leetalicious and geodogs Tessie and Worf for a great Sunday's caching. Knowing from experience that Na'wal's caches are always good fun, we knew we were in for a good day, and so it proved.
Took a while for the penny to drop with the holder of the cache puzzling us at first.
Very cleverly themed again.
Thanks again Na'wal

On a beautiful day Bogonghazy, the Geodogs and I planned lots of walking. So we went to the 'zoo' at the You Yangs and completed the series. Loved this series and the beautiful surroundings. Many thanks
Nice butterfly cache hiding in a good spot so that is can see far and wide! Thanks for the interesting notes.

Be careful of the bull ant nest near the gate track with this one. Kids love the swag and this one involved lots of discussion and swapping amongst the geokids.
Out here with AutumnTree, our newbie geocaching friend, and five GeoKids. Find number 18 for the day. We'd decided that it was probably a good time to head back to the carpark, and realised our newbie hadn't made a find, so sent her in for this one. She then had to deal with the GeoKids and their demands for swaps

Nice! Completely loving this series! Bessie and bella the viszla's running through the bush... Loving it too!

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that
Thanks!

While spending 16 months abroad, travelling through all states of Australia and also having a two months break in Thailand I did a lot of geocaching.
After many, many caches accompanied by the strong will not to write any standard logs, I ended up with more than 700 finds, all waiting for an official log. After intense considerations and carefully weighing my options, you now receive this special limited edition numbered log.

You Yangs National Park Cache #19/77
Being in Melbourne all the time gets a little boring after a while. So DieRooneys, Mutex, Pfote and I decided that we should leave Melbourne for the weekend. We had a look at the geocaching map and the You Yangs National Park seemed just perfect. Heaps of geocaches with good ratings, camping spot nearby and it wasn't too far away from Melbourne
We started on Saturday with the northern part of the zoo series and did roughly three quarters. We found all 19 caches we were looking for this day and they were amazing!
Really cute ones, cool ideas, everyone was different. I haven’t had so much fun geocaching in a very long time! Thanks Na’wal for your creative zoo caches!
And after having a good night’s rest in Little River we were fit for another day. We did the whole You Yangs Circle Drive today and found all of the caches. And there was even some time left for an earthcache and two traditionals afterwards which makes a total of 32 caches for me today (I already found YYCD #3 on another day). Thanks a lot ThePacman for crafting so many perfectly camouflaged caches!
We let the evening end with an awesome burger dinner buffet. Since it was already dark we were wearing head torches But I think that’s how it should be on a good camping trip
DieRooneys and Pfote went to bed earlier than Mutex and me. We decided that there was still some time for a little mystery solving battle. We were puzzling till 3 am and managed to solve seventeen of the ‘It’s puzzle time’ mysteries. Today, on Monday we did the outdoor finding part
Even though our last day was broiling hot (maybe the hottest day I experienced so far) we found all mysteries we solved the night before, the rest of the zoo series and two traditionals on the way, 26 caches in total.
Thanks TR! for so many different mysteries. We had a lot of fun solving them!
It was an incredible weekend thanks to all owners and my amazing companionship!
But the highlight was that we’ve seen a wild Koala relaxing in a tree after finding our last cache for the day

Thanks a lot for taking care of this cache, showing me this place and turning my travels into an adventure!
Greetings from Germany.

Day 14 of 49
Today we planed a Geocache Trip to the You Yangs Nationalpark. We left our Camp in Melbourne at 2 pm and drove to Geelong. Our target was the Zoo Series on this day.
What should i write now? It was an amazing Cache Series! The Cache Containers were wonderful and every cache were individual made. We startet at "Admit One" and did the north part of the tour. That was my first time caching in the Australian nature. Many thanks to Na'wal for a wonderful piece of geocaching craftsmanship.

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and through the middle.
This later weekend Pfote, Theatralis, Die Roonies and I made a trip to Geelong to cache ourselves through the You Yangs Park.
We started with around three quarters of the zoo series and found all of the caches without any problems.
The octopus will definitely get a fav point - such a great idea!
