Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there currently staying near Ngatea for a few days we had decided that we would drive over to Thames & investigate some of the Mining History to be found there we had parked up further down the road, by the Spitfire & had walked back along the HRT this cache was easily located, after my caching brain actually kicked into gear log completed & replaced quite a busy road here & there were muggles working out front of the business across the road, so had to be mindful of them Mrs McMike2012 thought this deserved a Favourite Point, so here it is more than pleased to add this 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS #5,598 for Us!

TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 9- Our last day in the Coromandel Peninsula before heading off to Waiheke Island tomorrow. We decided to make the most of it and circle the peninsula going clockwise from Pauanui , down to Thames up past Tapu and then on to Coromandel town , before heading back via the road 309. We started our caching day by picking a couple up in Thames, amazed by how busy the traffic is, clearly everyone is setting off on their holidays today. We then went to to Rapaura Water Gardens , we tried to go here the other day but they had already closed be-time we got there so we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time today. They were spectacular and well worth the visit. After that we headed to Coromandel Town and the Driving Creek Railway for a trip through the mountains. Amazing what one mans vision created and certainly a novel way to explore. In the end we collected 11 actual caches and one Adventure Lab for the day before time got the better of us.

Thanks a lot.
Morning biking along the rail trail after spending the night in Thames. The trail was easy to ride but due to upcoming rain we only did a quick 20km exercise today. The journey continues in the Northland. Tftc and greetings from Finland.
Nice quick find here. You dont realise how busy this road is till you walk along it. TFTC
With rustynz and littleblackbird1 cycling a small part of the hrt trail. Thanks, all good here
Its a perfect day for a bike ride, so the 3 (rebel98 and littleblackbird1) of us are hopefully going to peddle to the end, then back track to the car
Thanks for the hide G-2, first one found this afternoon after spending a little time wandering around the Thames market, which has the stalls spread along on the footpath of the main street.

With rustynz and rebel98 on a cycle adventure along the HRT trail. A little bit further than I was expecting, but my little legs got me there
Thanks for the hide G-2

Out on our bikes again this morning. Yesterday we hit the Hauraki Rail Trail, and today we're planning on exploring the Thames waterfront. This, our first cache of the day was one we had to bypass yesterday, when a couple were on the seat enjoying ice-creams in the afternoon sunshine. Found today though, no problems.
Lots of muggles over the road so I had to be discreet.
The cache is cleverly camo'd with spider webs but fortunately the maker wasn't home
Thanks for adding another cache here

Found it thanks to the hint. Pretty hot out here w my pack on my back. Good to have a seat right next to it
Having walked up and stayed the night at The Pinnacles we made excellent time coming back down today so decided some lunch and then local caching was in order.
Unfortunately we were getting a little weary now so decided this would be the last of the day. Parked up close by, wandered over to GZ and B4Dawn made a quick find which he was very happy about knowing it was a G-2 camo!
Thanks for the cache.

One a trip to hike the Pinnacles with Keylev and Cragger. Been looking forward to this trip for months and it's finally here! What more can a person ask for, good friends, hiking and caching!
On the way back and this was on the way. Hint described cache location and was a quick find. TFTC

I disturbed the spider guardian when I pushed the cache out of it's hidey hole, then I got covered in ants which had taken up residence in the cache, I think they were taking shelter from the rain that was starting to fall. Interesting to see a paddock full of oyster catchers over the fence, I've never seen them this far from water before
Roadtrip time, day 5.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
Today marks the start of the proper Geocaching side to this road trip. I am traveling from Auckland over to the Coromandel before heading back up north again over the next few days.
There were a few holiday makers at the shop across the road but they didn't seem to be interested in me as I walked over to GZ. A quick and easy find here today. There are no issues to report with either the cache or the log, so after signing the whole thing was replaced back exactly as found.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Out for a bike ride from Pipiroa to Thames and back on a hot 30 degrees sunny day. We were glad for the excuse to stop for a break and collect caches as there was not much shade along the trail. It didn't take us long to spot Piggy's hiding place but we needed to use a natural TOTT to extract it. We took advantage of the nearby seat to have a quick rest before getting back on our bikes.
On my way home from seeing friends in Thames for New Year and grabbed this cache on the way as my first for the year, TFTC!
We found another one! Piwaka 54 has definitely been bitten by the ‘just one more’ caching bug! Mwah ha ha!
Thanks for the cache G2.

We came to visit Piggy. Log full here so left Temp RITR log to help Piggy along. Cheers.
Day 5 - Tuesday 22 December -Paritu Bay, Coromandel, Thames and back to Coromandel by dark Left Zara resting in Coromandel while we went exploring with Toby. Loved Driving Creek Railway today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!
Mrs Nalawod spotted this but needed a pokey device to extract. Thanks for putting in a seat for tired cachers to sit while writing logs.
Staying in Thames/Tararu during the lockdown geomars and I used the local caches to go for a walk and get some exercise @16:45

Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. A good spot to pull over and find a cache along here. Found after a short search as per the hint. Unfortunately my PQ was quite old and I didn't realise that this cache needed a new log. I didn't have anything suitable with me but I managed to find a bit of space to leave my mark. TFTC, Biggles.
Could some kind visitor please add a new log as I’m forced to work as my Supervisor has sustained cracked ribs from coming off his mountain bike-;)
Quick find. Nice way to hide it, but there was also a spider in the hideout Two challenges with one cache Thanks for this one!
1:59 PM quickly spotted after riding the trail today.

Probably only space for about four more finds.
Didn’t have any spare paper with me today, sorry.

Had plans with Tramyard to head back to the Coromandel, this time to complete the There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. It was an early morning start, leaving home at just after 5am to get coffee on the way to meet tramyard. A very successful day, with 65 caches found before arriving home exhausted at 11pm.
We arrived in Thames around 8am and GZ was very quiet except for the many cows watching in amusement. A quick find was made before continuing our journey.

Found it while in Coromandel with Aiden29 to complete There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. We did 400km today.
Second find of the day. Nice and pleasant.
Thanks

Found on my trip north enjoying the caches in the area. Not trying to get them all.
Quick find and retrieval out of the clutches of a large angry spider early this morning with xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo on an outing around the Coromandel. TFTC!!!

I have tried to find this cache several times previously, unsuccessfully. Decided to stop for a quick hunt today, on our way to kauranga valley. Pulled up this time, and found it straight away. I don't know whether my geosense has improved, or whether it was just M.I.A last time we were here, but I'm sure I'd searched that very spot previously. Never mind....pleased to tick this one off my list at last! Tftc.
Today was a cycle tour from Thames to Pareroa and enjoyed it really. Quite a few caches on the trail, too many to remember. Thanks for placing and maintaining them. Found all but one, so a great day. TFTC
Having just bought a new bike i had been wondering if i should have got an e bike so this was an excellent opportunity to try one out and hubby and i hired bikes and went out to the bridge. OOPS! no sun block!! this was a straight forward cache and we stopped here again on our return for an ice cream across the road.
We travelled north and are holidaying in and around the Coromandel staying in motels, with friends and in our tent while getting out each day to see the sights, swim in the beautiful beaches or go for walks etc as well as locating a few geocaches, of course. We have had good weather the whole time with just a few showers at night and some wind while at hahei.
Thank you for this cache to all the Cache owners and another smiley face.

Our third visit to this beautiful country and this time for a family wedding in Tutukaka. After that we will travel south exploring and finding some caches along the way.
Signed and replaced all of them as we found them.

Had to dodge a local entertaining the cycleway traffic with his ukelele. He was totally oblivious. Nice hide. Thanks very much G-2
