What a perfect day to search for a Geocache. The weather was spot on! No wind, no rain, temp was at a cool 19 degrees and I was visiting a place I had never been too before.I was lucky enough to be chauffeured by Mr Sims_Family who had his eyes on a couple of challenge caches that I'm WAY off from claiming.I was putting my hand in every nook and cranny and wasn't have any luck. After circling GZ a few times I decided to try from a few different angles and boom....got you! Beautiful markings on this tree stump. Thanks for the hide.
Donutholes and I planned the day at Mount Beckworth to grab everything we could around the back of the mountain. The weather for the day was magnificent and we had a ball enjoying the wonderful space. The Ginja Ninja made short work of all the trails getting us close with only short walk to most of the caches. This little section of the trail had a sign up saying management Vehicles only so it was on foot for the five caches up here. Thank you wozzle68 for the series
I found myself at a loose end this morning mooching around the house wondering which chores i would tackle today. Bored with the possibilities i decided to escape for a while with a spot of caching. That was the perfect idea and brightened my mood instantly. Now where to go? An area i havnt been to before, perhaps with some walking in nature and a good few caches to find. Mt Beckworth looks like an excellent target, lets go! The geopooch and i were quickly in the geomobile and away.
The cache is in a spectacularly lovely hide here, and it is again a nice walk in. Thanks for sharing this special spot.

A nice walk thru the bush now. Had to give up the bikes on this track. Cache is in excellent condition.
So, no driving up the track that was on my GPS, therefore the car was parked in the shade and I started the walk for the 5 or so up this way. No issue here and the cache was soon in hand. Once the log was signed, it was back down to the path/trail and onward for the next one.
Thanks for another one wozzle68...

Another few hours mopping up most of the remaining caches on Mt Beckworth. As I wandered up the ridge the rain settled in, but with no wind was not unpleasant. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Found day 3 of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.
I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.
I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.
I wasn't actually planning to visit this area, but I somehow managed to end up here and it was a good place to camp with what looked like some interesting walks and caches to find.
After walking up to the summit and back from Manna Gums this morning, I took a bit of a drive around the park.
Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

On a caching and camping trip with day1976, he put together the list of caches, and I worked out we could camp near the Cork Oaks cache so we headed there. We got to camp with plenty of light to spare, so we set up the tents then drove off to start on the series.
This was a bit of a gnarly walk up, keeping our eyes open for any wriggle sticks! Lots of dry grass and hot rocks. I found this one.

Ilukaperi and I did a flying visit to Mt Beckworth. One night of camping.
After setting up camp, we decided to nab some caches before dinner.
More tiptoeing through more long grass to an easy find. I think this will be a theme of our weekend.

Find #4485
Traditional Find #2806**
I headed out with Steve on our first caching run since before the second lockdown. Ballarat, Mount Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick were our targets for today. Lots of possible hides here but Steve spotted a small patch of 'Sistema blue' and the cache was ours.
**Thank-you to wozzle68 for placing this geocache**

*Cache find # 11075.*
The Northern Ridge track is a track that I had not been along until today,
We drove up to this one and after making the find here, we decided to leave the car where it was parked and walk the rest of the way to others.
While walking around this gnarly log the familiar systema blue was spotted and the cache was found.
Finally we are able to get out and about so we headed for Mt.Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick.
I have been to this area a number of times now to try to find them all and after today it was nearly done but there are still 4 remaining, maybe one day.
**Thanks to wozzle68 for placing this cache.**

On the way I stopped to say Hi to the gnarly dude !!

He probably has some great skateboard moves
Or might even make a great skateboard

A visit to Mt Beckworth has consistently been on the cards since I was last here back in 2016. I still had the series to finish, plus there are some tempting new challenging challenges to be found. Today the planets finally lined up and together with Jacko, A and Anikano we made a day of it enjoying this great bushland.
Making our way from the Cork Oaks picnic area to the summit we stopped here to check out this gnarly dude.
Thanks Wozzle68.

Made was through the area with Jacko83, Pac-Man and Aysen16 with a plan to clear out the area. Well that was not to be as we severely underestimated the 4WD tracks! Still, a fun day was had exploring the area in the perfect winter weather. This was a quick find! TFTC
A nice collection of caches scattered about in here, and a really good mix to choose from!

Logged as Nicnax with PapaGrouch and SciFiRulz. We headed out today to enjoy the adventure at Mount Beckworth and were not disappointed. Big thank you for bringing us to this log, its jacket is so unusual and we spent quite a while talking about it and admiring the dude. FPT TFTC
We had arrived in this very beautiful area yesterday evening, and by the end of a thoroughly enjoyable late afternoon/early evening geocaching hike we had found 11 of the caches in the area. We then spent last night at Manna Gums campsite. This morning we set off on foot for what our GPS recorded as having been a 7 hour, 13 kilometre geocaching hike, with a total ascent of 585 meters and a total descent of 561 meters. After returning to our waiting hired cache-mobile we then drove on to find the rest of the caches in the area. We then spent a second night at Manna Gums campsite before leaving the Reserve, by which time the Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve had become one of our all time favourite places we have visited in Australia - plus of course we left this geocaching playground with a full house of smilies! - not to mention the thrill of a gorgeous little Echidna who late in the day walked right up to me and then sat down between my feet - I felt so privileged! This was the next cache for us to search for during our nice long geocaching hike in this lovely Scenic Reserve. The cache was located soon enough once at Ground Zero and log book signed. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
TFTC. We had visited this cache last year , only to discover that the original sign had been removed and replaced by a new style. This was the first opportunity we have had since then to revisit. We had a mission today we wanted to get as many of the caches on Mount Beckworth as possible today to get closer to meeting the $00 with a twist challenge. There are also two caches here that will fill in a number on the D/T grid and also a month on the Ausmer challenge.
We thought that we may have been able to drive up this track back and collect a few caches along the Northern Ridge. Decided that they could wait. I did walk to grab Gnarly Dude and the nearby Statue.

We had set up camp and now it is time to find some caches. This was a nice quick find but Geoturtle took quite some time taking photos. Have to love day light savings, it gave us the chance to have some fun with changing gears. Into 4WD that is. Our fellow travellers got some great air under the front wheels which definitely took the breath away. The big 80 series also got some air but nowhere near as much. It was only after filling in holes with big rocks, finding numerous scorpions in the process that more of the track was tried. Unfortunately, we couldn't quite make it to the top. Maybe next time. Thanks for the cache.
It's that time of the year that, despite the time of day, there was plenty of time to execute a left turn to see how far up the hill we can get.

A new day and new group of cachers - except for xambo4u. This was the first cache of 13 for the day and we were hoping that they weren't going to be as tough as yesterday's [xx(]
We approached from the east track after parking as close as we could and the cache was then found just about straight away.
Interesting pattern on the gnarly one - wonder how old it is? Maybe 500 years?
Thanks wozzle68.

I wasn't attending the mega this weekend, so I thought the "Easter Escape" event at Mount Worth sounded like a nice day trip, so I planned to attend, and just see whatever happened thereafter. Another quick find. All in good order.

While making my way to today's event hosted by Wozzle68 I stopped along the track to find some caches along the way. This one gave me some good exercise as i made my way up the hill but the cache was found without too much trouble. Very 'gnarly' and didn't get 'wiped-out' on the way down! Cheers
After the nearby relaxing event Muzza and I set off to gather as many nearby caches as we could signing about another 2 dozen. This was a truly amazing Gnarly Dude I am giving it a favourite for the timber patterns which fascinated me TFTC wozzle68
A little bit tricky and very clever hide. Our GPS was a little crazy and the decoys a little frustrating
Started out looking at nothing but rocks due to the rocky slope then ended up on the right track

Out with the family today trying to add some more smiles from this series of caches... wow, gnarly indeed and super cool! TFTC!
TFTC - I didnt expect to be pushing the geoprado off a rock while caching. Lucky i had my Weeties this morning. Crackers you will never hear the end of this, it has made my day.
Out and about today with Ed from 2beez to check out the camping possibilities here and grab a few of this series as well.
On the way to this one I bottomed the geoprado out on a rock and we were stranded. Luckily it was only just by a mm or so. Out jumps SUPER ED and pushes the car off the rock while I reverse the car. I'm never going to hear the end of this one. Thanks Ed Schwarzenegger.
This must be one of the gnarliest dudes I have ever seen. Loving this park. Thanks wozzle68 for bringing us here.

Found with becca85, boo09 & muggle uncle in his 4x4. Lots of fun!TFTC, sorry for late log.
This was our starting point and it was actually muggle brother in law that made the find! Awesome texture!
Mt Beckworth has been the location of my closest un-found caches for quite some time now (minus the occasional newbie that pops up which is of course converted quick smart)...
I had found all of the caches along one road a couple of years ago in my super low XR6 and that was not ideal.
Last week my brother in law bought himself a 4WD but no-one was interested in going 4WD'ing with him. No-one except me anyway!
I promised to take him to a good location to test out his new rig if he promised not to whinge about stopping for some caches.
We set off after lunch with boo09 & neisha07 in tow and while they had a wonderful time, I discovered I may have a little bit of anxiety.
We made our way from Gnarly dude to up several hundred metres past Marbles before I chickened out and convinced brother in law it was best we turn back.
Hopefully his first adventure geocaching was not too horrible and we can convince him to take us out again to finish off some more.
I think we will access Hanging around from the opposite direction next time!
Although I still have many more to go, it was great to knock off a chunk of the Beckworth caches. TFTC!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the texture and patterning of this tree. A fav point from me.
Woo hoo, I got to do Mr Beckworth with the fabulous CO himself.....I feel very privileged as it was a super awesome day filled with cool driving tracks and lots of walking. [^]
Well what an unexpected wonderful adventure this week turned out to be! I was meant to be in Alice Springs, but plans needed to change, so a relaxing trip to Victoria was the go.
Wozzle68 and I buddied up, and we ended up being great travel companions [^]....OMG, so much laughter , loud music [^], off-key singing and fun was had [:o)] [^]. We also teamed up with ChooknChunk and travelled in convoy to attend Mildura for '3 States in a Day' caching and events. What a great 4-some we made [^]....certainly brilliant dynamics [^], fabulous conversations [^] and loads of giggles [^]. I then stayed in Ballarat for a few days which was great fun.

We arrived here today to have a look around, as it's been on our to do list for some time. The grass is still long and dry, but we would keep a keen eye out as we walk for wildlife (Snakes).
The Park is quiet, although we did see two Rangers checking out facilities at Cork Oak Campground and also noticed someone had signed the log earlier today. Our plan was to check out the park, then pick up any caches that we came across, so we started off at the n/w corner first.
We didn't get all the caches in here, but will be back to tackle the higher caches and those we missed at a later date. We found the caches we looked for and all were in good condition, thankfully there are lots of caches here to enjoy.
We found the cache here quite easily, so thank you wozzle68 for this cache placement and the series here.

What a surprise to encounter an incredibly gnarly dude at Mt Beckworth! I have never seen anything quite like it. This was one of many caches dehands and I tackled today, with perfect weather conditions. TFTC wozzle68!
Gnarly Dude. You could take the low road, or the high road. I took the high road - and boy was it exciting!
It was only after I recovered this cache, that Mrs Plow said to me, you know the cache page for the next cache says this part of the reserve is only for walkers and 4x4 ers!
Well we have a soft roader AWD - so it can handle the easy 4WD tracks.... mmm... I am a bit of wimp, so the road up to here was a little challenging for me - I had to choose the line carefully and fully commit!
But we made it without any issues, except for some shaking hands from an anxious driver!!
I think geocaching is good, as it does allow you to do things slightly out of your comfort zone - and the feeling of accomplishment after doing them really adds an extra element to the game.
Thanks for challenging me for this and the next few caches!!
It would have been a shorter walk from the low road btw!!

Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We made it to our destination for the day and were greeted with a very hot Mt. Beckworth. Plenty of tall, dry grass which would have been a snakes paradise but thankfully none were seen. These walks seem to get be getting longer as the day gets hotter. We spread out of the search area and thankfully I made the quick find here. Stamped and replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache and series wozzle68**
**Cache container and log in good condition**

Joined up with Na'wal and DAB to spend the day caching around Ballarat and Mt Beckworth. I'm glad we stocked up with fluids as as the temperature soared. With the long dry grass we were weary of snakes.
The was like the Wood Beast in Flash Gordon testing your braveness. Eventually the test was past against this truly Gnarly dude.

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. There had been a bit of chatter about Mt.Beckworth recently, so we decide to give this series a crack. I had never been here before, so I was really looking forward to it. We knew it was going to be warm and even though our phones said it was 31 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that by early afternoon. Apart from a couple of walkers around the back of the mountain, we had the whole area to ourselves. This certainly was one gnarly dude. Thankfully it was a fairly quick find. TFTC wozzle68
Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about with some of those friends and we targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

This was a gnarly dude alright! Walked in circles for a bit before making the find. Thanks wozzle68.
Well this was going to be a big day for Suscoe.
Up early and off with long shadows stretching across the ground in the early morning.
A sunny day with the temperature around 30 degrees during the afternoon was going to be warm but thankfully a breeze sprung up during the morning and kept going all day and so it cooled Suscoe down at times when it was most needed.
This was the 15th find of the day.
Parked at the end of the track up the middle and walked to these five caches.
A quick find here.
Thanks to wozzle68.

Spent the day out with Yogster, Jageredwings and families. Had 5 Retrivers with us and the all had a ball. Thanks for the hides Wozzle.
TFTC. Out for the day with the GeoFamily and half of Clan McStormy to conquer the Beckworth Beckons Series, cache number 17.
So McStormy says, "geez mate, dunno if you'll get the Kia up there".
Pfft, easy and soon had the cache in hand.

Out caching with geodaddy on beckworth beckon's series like where you hid the cache. thanks wozzle
Catching up on some very late logs.
We were here with micaparamedic to help Highrod and The morris celibate their 10 years of caching but also hoping to grab a few more of this fantastic series.
micaparamedic offered to chauffer us around in his 4x4 as we only had the company van and it would not have got too far up this track.
Another great location for a cache and one that lived up to its name.
Again good coordinates had us at GZ and soon after we were adding our name to the log.
Thanks once more wozzle68

We are on a road trip to attend "The Melbourne Event" Mega, taking our time to get there and on the return journey. Fortunately, there were lots of caches along the way to tempt us to stop for a while to smell the roses. This was one of those caches.
We had made our way to Ballarat to attend the GIFF Event and having been told about another event to be held at Mount Beckworth, we decided we would attend that one to and find the nearby caches. After spending time with everyone at the Mount Beckworth event, we headed off on our cache hunt, but we soon caught up with others along the way.
Thank you wozzle68 for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy

Found after attending a nearby event with GemmaSistema, so glad she had a 4WD to tackle some of these smiles. Geokids had fun playing and investigating the area. It is such a lovely area and we look forward to coming back to add more smiles soon. Thanks Wozzle68.

Found by Mary & David at 1435. Set off after the Event with Alansee to finish off the Beckworth Beckons series. This was our first stop, and we agree it is gnarly. Our thanks to wozzle68.

After the nearby event the geokids and I decided to grab a few more caches. We also had cherad in the car so the three boys were happily amused for the most part. I had come prepared with the 4WD to tackle some of these. A nice easy find here on our way back down as we overshot this in the way up! Thanks for the cache and the walk

Jumped out of the 4x4 and ran uphill with the aim to hit the caches at beckworth quick and hard. Great old school cache wozzle68 and a favourite from me. Cheers

This was a nice little walk to this very aptly named cache. What an absolutely beautiful specimen. And again another completely different view to enjoy as well. Thank you for bringing us here.
Indeed a Gnarly cache, both figuratively and Literally, try getting your cache extraction tool around that !

Things are pretty busy at home at the moment as we start to pack up prior to our big move. There are lots of things to do....and I really don't feel like doing any of them. Therefore it seemed a lot more sensible to load up the ute and go caching.
I have been wanting to give the Mt. Beckworth caches a crack for a while now, so it seemed like no time like the present. With the cloud cover, the GPS was all over the shop (talking to someone else who was caching elsewhere at the same time they were having the same issues), however a bit of geosense soon got me over the line.
A lovely little walk soon bought me to this gnarly dude. Just the other day I had someone describe Mt. Bogong to me as a gnarly climb. I remember thinking I hadn't heard the term gnarly in years, especially in that context.
Anyway, at the end of the lovely little walk was a gnarly cache, dude.

Hmmmmmm. Somebody is having fun. This took much longer than it should have as I was not really thinking. Finally the penny dropped and I had the logbook signed.
Very gnarly and very naughty,
