It sounds like this one has gone burger again, plus the addition of an electric fence made it fun to access. Time to go bye byes as I am located a few hours away. BB
Blenheim Bear, we didnt find your cache today. Sorry, but it wasnt for lack of trying though! Looked in every tree in the area but no luck. This is behind an electric fence and probably should be archived!

This one took quite some time even with us both searching. We were about to give up when Mr Geckoh spotted something lying on the ground. After signing the log we replaced on the branch of the large tree (which it was nearest to). Still have no idea what is wrong with the sign across the road unless it has something to do with the signboard that is missing. TFTC

Tried really hard in various locations around GZ with no luck. Hope someone else finds it - good searching
Took us a few minutes! Just a little wider than the coordinates. Head height of an adult.
Amazing trip took a bit to get there. You have to roll under an electric fence and there was a wasp nest near by but very easy once it was found
Hard to find but so obvious once we found it. This is a fave. Nicola erin and george
The Friendly moos made this memorable, head height does fit the bill if you are a midget. Many thanks

#12,596. A park, walk and grab on Te Mahoe Road in Mokau. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Had a long search where the GPS was pointing, but came up nothing. Moved to another spot and eventually found it about 9 metres away. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

#9583. I am up in Taranaki for the weekend to complete the TMGT geotour in this area. There are plenty of other caches to find as well and a bit of bird watching to fit in. This is the third day of my trip having made my way north through Hawera and Cape Egmont. Drove north to get the TMGT cache at Awakino and now picking up some on the way back south.
This was a good place to do some bird watching with royal spoonbills roosting on the nearby mudflat. The cache wasn't in the first place checked and almost missed it in the second place. But found it well tucked in higher up than I expected. Signed the log and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Priceless Time and Blenheim Bear for hiding it here.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had planned to have another crack at the PWGT trail this weekend. And just to make things interesting, Gap had work in Taranaki...
From here on in, we decided to be a bit more selective - just roadside caches from now on... We were in two minds about this one. The DNF logs seemed adamant that this hide had gone, but we gave it a go anyway. To our surprise, Gap found the actual cache... Thanks Priceless Time and Blenheim Bear. TFTC.

i did this geocahe on 9/1/21 the 15/1/21 and twice today 22/1/21 on the way to te awamutu and back to hawera each time and searched every tree and could not find the cache it may have gone. .
New cache installed by Gibbin, many thanks as it looks like the previous cache has gone burger. Happy caching Blenheim Bear
Unfortunately no success here, even in spite of Mr E's height. We checked out every tree in the vicinity.
Trapper4ever and grandson on roady to New Plymouth, quick find after a early morning fish on the Mokau river
Cycled along from town on the gravel road and found the location. A quick hint round and the cache was ours. TFTC
I've got stuck in Mokau as SH3 closure while heading off to New Plymouth for long weekend. Nice and easy find when right tree was located. TFTC
An rest day after a nice climb up the mountain yesterday, mostly drive by's and short walks. It took longer to locate than expected - the CO must be a giant! TFTC!!
Headed out to check out Mokau Mission with Toby. Quick snag and tag here.
Cheers. Now back to Zara and head north.
Day 15 - Friday 27 December. From north of NP to Awakino today. With lots of tunnels in the mix.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

When we headed out on this road to Mokau Mission I noticed that on my GPS Te Kauri road, intersected with the main road instead of going under the bridge. Now that i am logging the cache, as I have been adding bits to the map I opened the map editor to fix it. Oh - it is correct - it is my garmin that is not handling bridges correctly.
Merry Christmas!
It's the day after Boxing Day, day fifteen of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today we are working on the back roads and tunnels east of Taranaki.
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Christmas trip from Auckland to Taranaki and we decided to break up the trip with a cache or three. This one took us longer then it should have. Quite high
We (Rattll & I) are on a mission to grab the geotour caches in this area and any caches that are close to these caches.
thanks for the placement we dont have too many left to get before making it home
thanks for the placement we dont have too many left to get before making it home
Out and about on a caching mission to collect some geotour caches for the Wanganui/Taranaki region, and of course some other caches we couldn't go past since we were in the area anyway!
An interesting little diversion as we start to make our way back today.
Being somewhat shorter than the co made the reach a little more challenging. Some acrobatic's was required between the two of us.
I left a pet rock - a hedgehog.
Thanks for setting this up PT and BB

Driving home gently, so had time for a short diversion, which was rewarded by this cache at another historic, Taranaki site. Avoided potential shocks by discovering easy entry point! Trusted my compass, and soon located the GZ - luckily I'm not a shortie!! TFTC
I was on my way to New Plymouth as my first stop in a seven day trip down to Wanganui, so I had to stop to get this one.
After a squeeze under the fence, I spent a bit of time at what I thought was GZ, but then found the cache once I moved to another spot. TFTC.

Some of these historic places make interesting reading, had to slide under the electric fence on the way to and from the cache. TFTC
My travelling companion decided to drive down this road for no apparent reason so I quickly had a check to see if there were any caches to be found. I was pleased to see that there was and set my GPSr to beep as we neared. However, before it did so, my driver said "I suppose there's a geocache along here". So, we made a quick stop and tracked down the treasure after a few minutes searching. The hint seemed to be a little inaccurate as normally I need to make an adjustment but in this case it seemed that I needed to do this in the opposite direction.

Replacement cache placed with thanks to Phronimos and Yewtrees. Blenheim Bear
Was on my way North to New Plymouth for work and had decided to contact Phronimos beforehand and see if he was interested in going and checking out a cache that he had a DNF on when he was in the area. Phronimos was happy to oblige as he also wanted to do some maintenance on a couple of caches as well, so we soon hatched a plan and Phronimos decided that he would pick me up at my accommodation and we would make our way North from there, this was great as I didnt have to drive and as Phronimos was familiar with the area it made it so much easier just to be a passenger and enjoy being chauffeur around the countryside.
After finding GC16CX0 - Mohakatino Heads (Taranaki), this was the next cache that I had on my radar as we made our way North towards the King Country, after making our way north on SH3 we soon made our way down Te Mahoe Road. The last time I was this far North was back in May 2010, well that seems so long ago.
Arriving near GZ, Phronimos dropped me off while he went to find a spot to turn around I went over to GZ, well it wasnt quite that easy as there was a hot wire between me and GZ, but I managed to get through without getting zapped.
Once at GZ, I had a good look around and check the area thoroughly, it looks like GZ has being exposed as there is no coverage at GZ and the hiding spot had being compromised, it was time to go back to the car and pick up a replacement cache and find a safer and more secure spot for the cache. Before replacing the cache I signed it and found the perfect hiding spot for the cache.
Thanks Priceless Time and Blenheim Bear for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this historical spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13969). Have forwarded the co-ordinates to the CO to update the cache page.
I managed to get back to the car without getting zapped and it is time to continue on our way North to the next cache.

Today on a maintenance run while escorting Yeetrees to find some of our North Taranaki geocaches. We headed off late on a stunningly beautiful hot afternoon, this was his eighth cache.
This was one I had previously found. Definitely appears to be missing... so we took the liberty of replacing it for the COs. If that’s a problem I’ll remove when I’m next through here. Yeetrees will forward a photo directly to CO.
After six hours and 18 caches we returned home well after dark.

The Slip is fixed (for now), this is such a good viewpoint for the river and deserves a visit. Happy Caching. BB
Road has slipped before you get to this one, will disable until the slip is fixed.. BB
I had attempted to find this cache on a previous trip down the coast, but having no luck then I hadn't worried about coming back. Having seen someone had only found this a few days ago, it meant I was determined to find it this time! Last time I was here that fence wasn't live! ouch.
Decided a couple of weeks ago to come to New Plymouth for Queens Birthday Weekend. The only time I have spent in New Plymouth is for work, so it was about time I spent some time here for pleasure. Found me a Airbnb and planned my caching weekend.
Decided to drive directly up to Piopio this morning and spend the day caching my way back to New Plymouth. Its been a day of Giants, Hobbits and Tunnels and I've had a great time. I haven't been on this road before and it is clearly one of New Zealand's best kept secrets!
Quick detour of the highway to find that the GZ is now behind an electric fence.
Managed to navigate myself underneath the hot wire and it was an easy find once there. TFTC

Temporary Disable - Unfortunately, this CO as left us to go caching on the other side, RIP Priceless Time.
In the meantime, this cache is under the process of adoption. It can still be found and logged, but maintenance will not be done until the new ownership is sorted. Any problems please contact Blenheim Bear.

Have been meaning to stop in at this cache for a while now and today the opportunity arose to pull off the main rd for a nice little history lesson. Another nicely camo'd cache from PT. All is well, SL. TFTC
So a few months ago I went away for a random weekend in rotorua. However on coming back home to taranaki I was stranded at mokau due to the slip on the main road. To cheer myself up I went geocaching to find the only cache in mokau however couldn't access it as there was bovines in the paddock. Today it was a quick grab with an extra smiley as just found out I have a job interview on Monday. Tftc
Found mid December after taking the boat cruise up the Mokau River. Thoroughly recommend the trip and visiting the spot where the cache is located. TFTC
GPS took me the long way home after the Mega. Finding lots of good caches along the way. TFTF
Down in New Plymouth for the weekend to visit the offspring - we had a great time and found some superb caches along the way. Now on the trip back home and detoured to find this one. Yes, the sign over the road is a little confusing, isn't it? TFTC - good chance to stretch the legs
Parked the car at the start of Te mahoe rd. The whole family walked to the cache and diid a bit of sight seeing. Took us a while to find the cache but we got there in the end! No chance of that one being muggled!
TFTC!
TFTC!
Took the detour, located the cache. Not sure what's wrong with the sign opposite but it looks quite new so it may have been replaced.
On our way home after a weekend in New Plymouth. We did not do this on our way down to NP because the weather was pretty bad, wet, windy and cold. Today was windy and cold but not wet. A short detour took us to where we needed to be. Mrs S waited in the Geomobile while Mr S crawled under the zapper fence to retrieve the cache. Signed and returned and as we drove away saw there was another way in where you did not have to crawl under the zapper. LOL. Never mind.
Cool cache and those early settlers were hardy souls. Mrs S's great grandparents were early settlers as well, in the South Island, and it is humbling to think what deprivation they must have suffered in order to have a better life.
Thanks Priceless Time. One more smilie on the road between New Plymouth and Rotorua.

On the way home from a great weekend in the Naki, but always time for a few more finds.
Bit of a side mission, but some great history here. CB dropped me off while she turned the car around and had it in hand and replaced just as she pulled back up. Thanks for the hide.

This cache was one of the many caches we found on our 6 day campervan journey from Tauranga to Lower Hutt via Waihi, Cambridge, New Plymouth and along the west coast to Wanganui and back to the Hutt. A mighty and enjoyable journey which took us to many great and iconic parts of the north island and of course some great geocaches. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to so many new places. Sorry about the generic log but 200 plus to log. TFTC
Would have been a nice area with the mission by the estuary. Geotrail showed similar path taken by others to GZ. Cache log wet and unfortunately I couldn't replace it I like the work done on the outer camo. TFTC
On a mission caching day we opted to head north, found after a short search around the vacinity. Nice spot, TFTC
Out on a geo mission with Niscar and the family. This one was sneaky but I found it and retrieved. TFTC
Thanks to Julie for the container unless the CO needs to tell us something... Found this a weekback but forgot to log so here it is. Deserves a fav for the container and getting me off the beaten track (tar seal), getting a look round the back roads while helping out at Council. This one is a wrap. Mission accomplished TFTC! Managed to grab this during a break in the rain but the running water nearby made this a very fast stop as I had urgent business that I needed to deal with in Mokau.
Heading to Auckland for the weekend. Left New Plymouth early in rain. Lovely here. This, being a bit of a lonely cache, was a must do. Been down this road a few times, but never this far and so YAPIDKA. Clever hide & would give it a FP if I had some, but not on this occasion. TFTC
The good Dragon and I came down to New Plymouth on friday evening to catch up with family but now before the weather closes in its time to make our way north once again while the weather is good. So as we were leaving early I was allowed to stop for the odd cache along the way.
Slight diversion on the way north and a quick find here, great container
thanks for the placement

On our way to the Taranaki for a few nights.

It was time for a mission to visit some Taranaki caches especially some of the ones in the backblocks.
This was the first of the mission and it wasn't especially in the backblocks but it was off the main road.
Cheers for the cache.

Out with Tara Ted catching such a fine day The mission was a good one thanks PT TFTC
Glorious day for a trip over Mt messenger to secure this cache. Interesting piece of history. Juty Bug always stops at one of the local Mokau shops for his coffee, and whitebait sandwich if in season. tftc
Clever but found it quickly today. Very wet long grass after the rain earlier! Interesting place TFTC
Day #1 of a 3 day road trip to the Taranaki.
Spotted the way in and after a bit of searching about the cache was successfully located.
Thanks!

We had in mind a short road trip when we set out, and had planned originally to cut across SH4 and pick up The Madonna's Waterfall. However, when we checked the latest logs it appeared to have gone, so we modified the plan a little and headed for Te Kuiti instead.
The weather was a bit grey when we set out, but slowly the clouds lifted and the temperature settled down to a pleasant driving level.
At ground zero I stood and contemplated a commando crawl under the wire, but my wife strolled down to the open gate and made her way to the cache that way, so I followed her. A quick find and sign of the log, and back out again only to roll under the wire for a trading token drop off.
Thanks for the cache; how _do_ you find these interesting little places?

Had time to stop and have a look for this one today as I headed north and was pleased to find an empty log... So a FTF...
As for the sign across the road... Looks like it's pointing the wrong way...???
Thanks for the cache and the history lesson
