Its been almost three years since we were in the area, picking up a few Nutty November caches. Last time, I had my nervous husband with me, not exactly thrilled to take his car along these trails. Today, I still have that same nervous husband, but this time were in my cara RAV4, which still isnt exactly suitable. After a couple of false starts, thanks to Google Maps, we arrived at GZ to make a quick find.Thank you The lost wanderers. Its great to be back!
14 September 2024 12:44Out and about with Cybergran V, dalerious and I bundled Mum in the car and drove to Wodonga to attend the Season 2 CITO held by weirdobiker. After the event we asked Mum where she would like to head next; well it was music to my ears when she said Nutty November's . I had been waiting for an excuse to finally finish this series off, and Mum and Dale needed a couple too. There was a super mix up of puzzles here. Some we needed help with, others not.We loved driving around the forest over the years grabbing one here and there. All caches were found in excellent condition. Thank you The lost wanderers for keeping this awesome series going for all these years. Now on to trying to solve the Enigma .
Found with Cybergran V & catnap777. 14 September 2024 @12:44pm.With these last few nuts cracked, Me, Mum and The Mrs went for a drive through the hills to shake a few trees and see what falls out. This one was found in excellent condition from accurate calculated coords and all were from which at least one of us had managed to solve. The final enigma still eludes us all , and we will have to sort through some very old notes (and maybe revisit a couple of hides) to crack it, but we will. TFTNuttySeries The lost wanderers. [^]
These were very tricky puzzles to solve, and this was the last in the series I needed to complete it, other than the Enigma, which will require a return visit one day in the future. So pleased that dalerious and catnap777 brought me here, after the CITO this morning, to finally convert those blue question marks, to happy faces on my map.dalerious did a wonderful job of driving on these interesting roads, whilst catnap competently navigated, and the weather, although threatening to rain, held off. Thanks for the puzzles, the caches, and the adventure. We will return when weve solved the Nutty Enigma.
7761 @ 2:49PM The Nutty Series was something started many years ago, I even recall being gifted a couple by the CO whilst doing a 4x4 tour of the area during a local event.Theyve really been on the back burner since but I was determined to knock a few off today whilst avoiding the 4x4 trails! It really is a beautiful forest up here! Id love to come back and explore the MTB trails more.TFTC
Another Saturday afternoon exploring the Yack forest and surrounds. This has been in my solved pile for way too long. A shot stroll and we soon had cache in hand Log signed and returned as found. Thanks the lost wanderers for placing the cache for us to enjoy
We went for a drive and since Ampitup1 had solved this and we happened to be driving past we thought why not. A quick hunt and sign and then off again for another cache
This was the area we had planned to come to so we could do a big cache and collect a load of cool side quests along the way, it's a fair way to come from Tassie but it made for an amazing day of 4WDing thanks to the toolman having a right ute.
Many cool locations were spotted today and finished off with a pub meal on the way back.
This wasn't a normal trip to the mainland to got to a Mega it was a trip to catch up with a good mate that couldn't keep up with the pace in Tassie when he lived there so moved back
This was a trip for gooseandegg and myself to meet up with 1Toolman and have a long weekend caching in the North of Vic to try and help him fill his D/T grid, we knew we couldn't fill it but thought we could get close and we did well finding 10 out of the 14 we were targeting. Hope he finds the time to find the last few soon.
Thanks for the cache.

We were doing a very long wherigo and 'interrupted' it regularly for other caches as we were near. Just a short walk but we were huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf by the time we got back to the car!
Thanks The lost wanderers
Stainless steel rat and I agreed we needed to catch up with our old mate 1TOOLMAN for a weekend so we made a plan to fly over and help fill in a couple of holes in his D/T grid. We managed to fill 10 out of 14 before running out of time. I think he's got the urge to continue and make it happen.

Kittykatch wanted a cache with a particular DT combo so we hatched a plan to head down to the area and pick it up with Albida. I wanted one of the Nutty Novembers so madly set about solving them. I managed most but had to have help with some and a lot of help with one.
We were in my Nissan X-trail and I was hoping it would not be too hectic. A bit more clearance would have helped and I did hyperventilate a few times with some of the roads and I think there are a few dings underneath but mostly handled it ok. Fabulous weather, good company and no flat tyres.
Thanks for getting me out and about The lost wanderers

This was the second day of the trip to Albury and beyond with Kitty Katch and Joolay. The whole trip was based on one cache and we did the walk for that first. We then went to a nearby area and found a series of Puzzle caches that had been solved before heading on the fun drive home up the Hume Highway. It was a rushed trip, but we achieved what we set out to do and had a great time.
The Nutty November caches were a fun collection of puzzles, that tested our ability. One needed some outside help. The trails in the forest were mostly good, but a few ruts caused some anxious moments. One cache we had to walk to, as from the bottom a 45 degree rock sloe was always too much to drive up. We were even happy to find some enigma clues when we were paying attention.

Found with PapaGrouch. We had been on a camp nearby and before we headed for home I wanted to find a few of these caches that have been sitting in the solved pile for years. PapaGrouch was being very careful in his new car but was very pleased with how it handled the conditions. This was our next find, the terrain was a little more challenging than the first two but the cache was nice and dry. TFTC

Signed in Charcoal. I lost you know what! Nutty butty change of plan and here I am! Enroute to elsewhere and spontaneity got the better of me at trusty treadles aka the MTB was in the car and it was a nice day for a ride. Such fab trails here with a few heart jumpers but only had to push the bike a couple of times. The puzzle was solved sometime ago in the midst of COVID and a few of the nutty series remained uncollected - teasing me each time I drove through Yak. This one required a nudge back then and likely would now Happy ride and happy find. TFTC AND THE FUN!

Back in January 2021 I had driven through this area doing the 4X4 Wherigo cache which was so much fun, a while later I realised that we had passed by most of these Nutty caches which was a bit of a bugger back it was also not a bad thing as it meant I was able to come back here and drive around again.
I went about solving most of these nutty caches but there were a couple that I needed some help with, once I had all the coordinates it was just a matter of getting back out here and as my original plans for this weekend failed this series was a great back up.
**Thanks to The lost wanderers for placing this cache.**

Brad has visited this area twice before and each time has picked up at least a couple of the Nutty caches. This time he is with Janet who is the finder par excellence once at GZ. And Brad has had time to solve all the NN caches now. Including this one.
A challenging drive today up and down hills of various steepness given the recent and current rain and the All Terrain tyres rather than Mud tyres on the LC200. Only a little panel damage today. Brad enjoyed showing Janet the various gold mining relics that we passed.
At GZ things looked familiar. Sure enough I had been here before.
TFCT yet again The lost wanderers
Brad&Janet are on a two week trip from Adelaide to the Victorian High Country. While this is not primarily a caching trip there are a few specific targets along the way. Including a challenging remote area unloved puzzle cache placed in 2014 and never previously found.
Omeo will be the initial base. Brad has ridden his bike through the high plains region a couple of times while doing the Three Peaks Challenge, and is looking looking forward to exploring by 4WD this time.
On the way home the plan is to visit Yackandandah and the Nine Mile Creek Historic area and also Mansfield and the surrounding region. Then spend some days in and around Bendigo and Clunes so Janet and her sister can research a few of their ancestors who lived there in the mid 1800s. Brad may take the opportunity to visit the Ballarat Geotour while the research is happening.

And yet another of this great series that I have missed logging for some reason. Sincere apologies. Glad the others logged my name so that I know when we did it. Even did some cache maintenance on the enigma but forgot to log a couple. Thanks for a fabulous series and showing us some great countryside.
This one certainly has a lot of unloved on it. Glad that we had all these done before we left home. Now to try and help (notice we didn't say work out) find the final coords. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
Day three of Beechworth camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & RoamingHowie.
Another NN needing some love. Glad to have pre-solved. Hopefully have all clues now.

After spending a week away camping from Melbourne I’ve now moved on to Beechworth for some caching with OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506.
Wandered down the hill and OHC made a quick find despite some conflicting coords in the group. I have been solving some of these puzzles on the fly as I wasn’t prepped before hand. Worked this one out eventually with some nudging and a tool.
Thanks The lost wanderers for the cache.

After a lot of puzzle solving we made it back to a favourite place of ours today in the company of McLookers in readiness to pick up the rest of the Nutty series.
This one we found up the hill a bit from our GZ today , maybe our GPS's were not liking the tree cover.
Thanks The Lost Wanderers for the series in a beautiful location.

This puzzle had a couple of twists.
This series was on our list for our trip to the area. For me, the puzzles were a combination of hard and very hard. The hide was achievable today. Found with The Tritonz, thanks The Lost Wanderers.

I had a great time driving around exploring the park here today. Along the way I picked up some geocaches, of course! I’m not sure that I always took the easiest route, as there was a few hills I was a bit concerned about, but my trusty jimny came through, of course! I didn’t see another car, bike or person the entire time I was here. TFTC & TFTP The lost wanderers
After some careful planning and lots of puzzle solving homework, TikvaNZ, ZXQ, Fox in Jox and I headed to the Albury Wodonga area on a geocaching mission over the weekend. We targeted high DT caches, but also found some lower DT caches in order to maximize our DT combinations on the Saturday. I got 36 different DT combinations, which I was more than happy with. On the Sunday, fewer caches, but ones we had specifically selected to help us with various personal challenges. A great weekend, good company and lots of fun on our Great Southern Puzzle Plunder!
6th for the day at 0945. I needed a tiny push on this puzzle, but easy enough in retrospect!! TFTC

A Southern Puzzle Plunder was hatched a few weeks ago for this weekend with ZQX, AngelG27 and Fox in Jox. Much puzzle solving homework ensured with a focus on the higher D/T combinations, and also finding specific caches to fulfill the requirements for some challenges. The specific plan/route was only finalised over the last few days; start with the Nutty November series, pick off challenges and puzzles from around Beechworth and back to Albury, find interesting traditionals on the way that would help us qualify for a challenge to find 25 D/T combinations in a day, finish the day over dinner with a another Canberra caching team also caching in the area, overnight in Albury, pick off challenges and puzzles from around Chiltern and back to Albury, and finally aim to be home before dark.
We left Canberra at 5am, and found the first cache in Yackandandah at 9am, finishing for the day just before midnight. On the Sunday we started around 7am and left Albury soon after 3pm, arriving home around 7pm.
The mission exceeded expectations, with several caching goals achieved amongst the team. Our individual statistics varied a little, due to previous finds and other personal goals. I passed the 7500 finds mark and ended up with 48 finds on the Saturday (with over 40 unique D/T combinations) and another 13 finds on the Sunday (involving lots more walking). Overall we found about half the pool of puzzles and challenges we had pre-prepared as possibilities, so we'll be back again sometime.
This was our 6th find for the day. Quickly found. Soon solved. Information collected. TFTC.

The Great Southern Puzzle Plunder plan had been hatched. ZQX, TikvaNZ, AngelG27 and I would travel from Canberra to Albury and northern Vic regions for a great weekend of puzzle finds and other assorted caches that would achieve various goals for each of us. Prior to our departure, we worked our way through a list of puzzles over a few weeks to get Final coords. We then departed Canberra at 5am and returned at 7pm the following evening, fairly pooped. I managed to find 50 different D/T combinations over the 2 days, 42 on Saturday. A huge amount of fun...and some terrible jokes and puns throughout.
With some study of the details on offer, a few ideas emerged. Upon research, one seemed very plausible. Plugged it in and out came some useful numbers. Everybody was happy. This was the third of the NN series. Parked and found. TFTC TLW

I was able to solve the other seven puzzles in the series without help. But this one was my nemesis. I kept a running sheet of all the things I tried. It's very long. Then, with a trip to northern Victoria approaching, I sought the help of my co-conspirators. The trick came back to me in a short email, and I did a head slap. Turns out I had tried that possibility but had discarded the solution for a certain reason.
I had a list of puzzles that are like this - just a short alpha-numeric string. Most of them I have solved but some I have not. It's amazing how many possibilities there are with just a short string of letters and numbers.
Very happy to collect this after all the work I had put into not solving the puzzle!
Thanks again TLW!

Found on an 11 day tour of the east of the State in OVT with Scouter 101 with much caching, caving, camping, climbing and cycling.
We headed into this corner of the world to grab a couple of caches we missed last year, this one because I had trouble soling it and didn't have a solve last year, but the penny dropped some time ago, so while chasing another couple of DNFs we grabbed this one also.
Thanks for a challenging puzzle

Due to the weather and long weekend I awoke this morning to decide that I would visit Beachworth and the surrounds for some particular nutty caches which I had long since solved and where on my list of must finds. Well I only ended up getting to 3 of the 7 solved caches in the series as after getting to #3 I had lost my nerve as I had gotten here in my trusty Camry which has no ground clearance.
The track into here wasn't really that back and mostly dry and the humps along the way where or did not seem that large or steep enough to be an issue, but after flying thru to large puddles (more like pits) I really felt that I was starting to push my luck and really starting to fear what that track ahead was like to get to the other solved cache in the series.
Parking close to GZ, I made the 50m hike down and into GZ to try and find this one. Once at my zero position today I couldn't spot anything so having read previous logs I started to head back up hill, scanning for possible locations. During this hunt a little voice in my head keep saying "I thinking were going to get the car stuck in here....", so this wasn't helping my anxiety which was rising by the second as the cache was not showing itself easily....
So really feeling like I should try and get out of here I headed back up glancing around more quickly but more keen to get going now, when by luck I spotted the classic hide. This was probably 20m further uphill and to my right today and man I was relieved to find it.
Once back at the car I decided to head east as this track was a much shorter distance to a better road on the map and heading north would of been probably twice as long with steeper terrain too and who knows if that would of been OK for the Camry going that way??....
So the drive out began and it wasn't that bad for about 3/4 of the way but then as I fear the humps where getting bigger. So with gravity and speed and a few squeals I got out with the car intact with an airborne leap on the very last hump. Wow didn't expect that. I was very lucky that I approach this cache the way I did as there was no way the car would of been able to head in this way. I had been very lucky.
I'll be back soon to find the others in this great series and hopefully the final. Thanks for crazy adventure today.

TFTC & puzzle The lost wanderers
We had solved a hand full of these a awhile ago so on a last moment trip to the area d died to collect. We followed a variety of roads and trails around needing to be careful in a few spots. Some of the hides we spotted quickly and others took awhile. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.
This one took a while to spot as we over shot GZ but on walking back to the car to get the real GPSr we spotted

As we were having a day out 4wding with friends, we finally decided to have a go at this puzzle series and see how many we could get done.......the night before we went out.
So we did manage to get some of them solved and out we went, and in the course of our travels, this was the first cab off the rank, we all pulled up in a cloud of dust and after a short search, the cache was found and we signed our lives away.
Then it was off at the speed of smell to the next one.
Thanks TLW for the nice puzzle and cache in a cool location.
Cheers

BettyBoo3747 and I spent the day looking for a few local mysteries that we had missed out upon not going to the event (I had to go to work!)
Made it to the top, but the GPSr was saying 50 meters away - we weren't confident about his one, but plodded off down the hill anyway. After jumping a few logs we spotted some suspicious pile, and there it was! Very relieved.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 7109. With quite a few solved puzzles under our belt from the Yackandandah area Robmc and I decided to try to add smilies to them today. Unfortunately two pieces of fruit could not be found and two nuts in the Nutty series missed getting a smilie from us. It was an extremely difficult day's work with 16 finds and 4 DNF's.
I had been looking forward to these Nutty Caches but we seemed to make hard work of the series today ending up with two DNF's (which we now know was our own fault - minor errors in our solutions).
We continue on and at this one we are holding our breath wondering if we "have done good here". The location itself looks like a suitable place so off we go to do a bit of fossicking and soon we let out a sigh of relief. You sure have been testing us with a few of these puzzles.
Thanks The lost wanderers

[:(!] Took the geoGrand Vitara for a spin to see what she can actually do on a caching run for half a day and this was on of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was quickly in hand.

Bit of DeJaVu as we approached Gz as we were here only couple days earlier driving the same tracks.
Made short work of the puzzle and met up with Mrs H and the Ez boys after work for another leisurely drive out bush.
Micro Ez had fallen asleep by this stage and missed the whole bush adventure so it was up to Little Ez and I to find the cache. Mrs H had worn her best thongs and decided against the last 20-30mt.
Little Ez and I explored the bush a little bit while Mrs H solved a few more puzzles to pick up on the way home.
TFTC can, TNLN, Cheers.
