Auckland University is in week 2 of semester 2 which means more writing and study, less walking and caching! However assignments were boring me and the weather isn’t *that* bad, so it’s time for some caching! I picked this park because there were a few caches around! I am armed w some swappables, 3 pens (as I like to loose them), a rain coat and my good trail shoes! It’s time to get muddy and grab some more smily faces!
Todays goal… hit 400 finds!
Thank you to all COs for placing and maintaining caches!

NEEDS MAINTENANCE!!!
I found lid and log, but no actual container! It’s been badly muggled! Have popped of trail under rock.

M24: when I found the cache, the lid was off but at least the contents were dry. And it was pretty much out in the open. So I just signed it and went on my way. Nice easy find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.
After dropping the family off for their overseas flight early this morning, I made sure to allow enough time before heading back to Whangarei, to go for a wander and collect a few caches. These ones around the Mangere Lagoon looked interesting and I hoped to knock them off in an hour or so.
Well, I hadn't figured on a lot of them being G-2 caches and in typical fashion, some were quite sneaky hides that took a lot longer to locate than anticipated. This was one was okay though and a nice quick find of the good sized container. TFTC

This one was found rather quickly, picked the right gap in the foliage and there it was, the hint says rock, I guess its sort of correct, it was hidden behind a bag filled with gravel stones, making essentially 1 rock, lol.

Found it easily enough behind the rock at the coordinates my phone sent meto. Thanks.
Closer to path than we were expecting, glad I bought my bag of trades along for the walk
Kids were very excited to find a lizard as we were looking for it. Wasn't quite as far off the track as we were expecting. Removed the tampon that was in here. Appreciate they are necessary for half of us but didn't think it was appropriate for the cache. Kids always love finding a cache with tradeables. TFTC
After (finally) finding this one it was more than clear that I won't be able to do the loop in time to be back at the car to get to the airport. Why did I spend so much time looking at the wrong side? No idea, but it was def too long. Waiting for walkers pass before continuing the search and about to give up I turned around and noticed the hint object. OMG.
Nice size and camoed container - not like the previous one, but still nice. #1717

Much closer to the trail than we thought. Easier to find than expected once we were in the right spot
We had a plan to tackle a different trail but Keylev couldn't commit a full day. So we decided to clean up this area and hopefully walk away with a decent cache count.
Another quickish find here. TFTC

Found and left something special to continue its journey. No pen so photo evidence. TFTC
Nice one, however there was a spider living in the box I sealed it off and hope he doesnt get back in
qef still went too far off trail but realised and found much closer as per hint. plus waterproof paper, minus lighter
Went way too far off trail at first but realised my mistake and found the cache much closer to the path, just as per the hint. The logs were pretty damp so I added a piece of RITR paper. Also removed and disposed of a lighter, since they're not meant to be in caches. TFTC!

Nice sized cache here for those that like that sort of thing.
The bonus of having a long weekend is that it's along weekend, and an extra day for going out and about. After the past couple of days at Orewa, then Mt Eden we were after a flat walk and not get too overheated after the super weather we've had over these last few days. As it was, we had some overcast cloud for part of the walk and the sun came beaming out towards the end of our mis-shapen loop around Ambury and Mangere crater lake. A few caches from a prolific hider, good to get some good caches, thanks to all COs.

Another easy find on the trail today, it was a little soggy in the bushes and it wasn't long before I was soaked, we didn't need rain, just wet trees. We searched for a bit, but Jacksonz, had it in hand nice and quick. Thank for the cache and the good excuse to stretch our legs on a lovely walk. The log was damp, but we could sign it. #1163
Off to pick up Miss Jacksonz from the airport, so took the opportunity to head to Mangere early with a Small Pooka, and walk around the Mangere Lagoon between showers. Nice bit of camo on this one, but no difficulties for us (apart from the wet foliage). TFTC.
Very simple find, we’re going around the lagoon and getting as many caches as we can. Very good camouflage, overall a great cache.

I ran around the bushes quite a bit before finally realizing I didn’t even have to!
Cache is well hidden from passer bys, but reachable from the path.
Thanks for another cache!

On a little caching tour with Greenkiwikid the youngest. Once around the lagoon with his bike.
Nice and easy find with the help of the hint. Tftc

Dad wins again! Nice and easy find, the kids were sitting only a few metres away from it waiting for us to catch up but Dad swooped in for the catch! Thanks
We were looking for a nice family walk away from any crowds, and this spot was fantastic. Thanks
Family outing on this side of Auckland. Mmm....this loop walk seems a good place to have some cache. Voila!
This one was the seventh and final cache of the afternoon. Who would find it? Mum didn't give a chance!

Get the feeling by now I'm going to be climbing around bushes a bit. Lol. Good hint lead to an easy find. Tftc

In Auckland for a few days for my daughters wedding this afternoon. Before she announced her wedding date, I had planned to get at least 96 caches of various types sizes and D/T ratings etc. to get my find numbers up to 101 and as my other leap day achievemnets as possible. However once she anoounced leap day as her wedding day I had to pare back my goals for the day to just finding 21 caches as quick as I could first thing in the morning. I chose this area for the concentration of caches. Unfortunately, being under time pressure, if I couldn't find a cache within a couple of minutes, I had to move on. This cache was soon found. TFTC.

On our last day we made a walk in the evening and did some caches around the water. TFTC!!!
To find a way into the Bush was the most difficult thing. Behind it I saw the rock and the box.

6' means 6 feet off track and thats abit far for me HAHA so iCouldnt find this cache.
We had introduced our parish priest to Geocaching a year or so ago and had never gotten around to taking him out again for another caching trip. So today we rectified that situation. We needed somewhere which was a nice easy walk and somewhere that we hadn't picked up many if any caches ourselves. This walk around Mangere Lagoon fit the bill perfectly.
We came across the area on the path parallel to GZ and looked around to see where the cache might be hidden. Padre2 and M. Kiwi headed into the bush the rquired distance and started searching around. It took a little while, but in the end, the cache was found, signed and replaced.

We went for a walk with a friend around this lagoon to get a few caches. It was perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold. Found this one pretty quickly. TFTC
Out for a nice walk around lagoon going from cache to cache! Was an easy find one I went off the track.
I was in Auckland for the U2 concert last night staying at a nearby hotel, and had some spare time before my flight back home today to go for a walk around the Mangere Lagoon and collect some caches.
A relatively quick find for this cache.

Last day in Auckland, but have some hours to kill, so after my morning park run I thought I best get some mor km’s in. Spying a central car park and two loops of cache off I Trott. Thanks for the little adventure.
GPS pointed to the wrong side of the track. Still spotted the cache quickly. The lid was off, so the cache was full of water, part of which ran over my leg when picking the cache up. Log is dry though. TFTC!
