Hi DOCBOP
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.
Regards
TheCoddiwompler

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
Adding my voice to the consistent reports that this one is no longer findable. I've placed some in similar conditions and eventually the earth gobbles them up. Goodness know how deep underground that cache is now.
Had a good look around GZ, but like the others before us we didn't have any luck locating the cache.
We also had no luck finding this one . Lots of nooks and crannies but no cache to be found
Never knew of this bush area so pleased that there were caches along the track that brought me here. Great walk. Unfortunately no luck here for me. Even though I search for some time.
Exploring our back yard, lovely walking track and fun finds with the family.TFTF
Team effort this one so split up and looked in a few places as GPS kept changing and no hint. Got there in the end. Thanks for the find
Took a bit to locate, with so many examples nearby, but we got there eventually! TFTC!!
This was the fourth of the caches as we traveled the track. These were found on 30 June but we are only now having time to log. The title helped us spot what we believed would be hiding the cache and the Little One certainly made very short work of this one, Mr and Mrs didn't get a look in as we stood back discussing if the GPS was correct - then Little One produces said cache.
GPS about 11m out. Found it thanks to reading previous Logs

As we went slightly off track on an earlier cache, two muggles with Trust dayglo vests on passed us by. They soon disappeared - off track I think. This got us thinking about the birds they were trying to save. Then we heard a new bird call, which we are pretty sure was a kokako. Very special. Thanks for bringing us here DOCBOP.
Enjoying the down hill walk, but the return is in the back of my mind...soon found the well placed cache ...it’s in very good condition...the sound of the Kokako high in the trees was very special...thanks Tryfyn and DoC ...great place with very special surroundings
Awesome little hiding spot. Left a juicy grub behind (toy one) as it just seemed appropriate.
Was here like a week ago trying to find this one. With no luck as it was on the verge off darkness as we were headong back to car.. com3 out yesterday and found this one with my brothers help. Great track and environment. Loved the the hunt.
#6455. The family are staying in Rotorua for a few days. Today we have to drive back to Wellington. But there was time in the morning for a short visit to Kaharoa while the rest of the family went kayaking. I was last up here in 1980s. Back then there were lots of kiwi and kokako in this reserve. Hopefully the pest management has allowed these species to thrive. Certainly heard a lot of forest birds calling this morning. Had forgotten how attractive the bush was in this area. Great to see the abundance of Alseuosmia along this track. Must be very fragrant in spring. Quickest cache find of the day. Reached the GZ and looked down. That looks like the hint object! Peered in and plucked the cache from its hiding spot. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks DOCBOP for the cache. An excellent track to put out geocaches and encourage more people to visit this stunning part of primeval NZ.
Again my daughter makes the find. She's on a roll today. Lol. Enjoying the walk so far. So peaceful in here. Tftc
I need to start this log off with a big thank you to tryfyn as I wasn't coming out here unless I knew the caches were in place. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. Cheers DOCBOP for the introduction to the Kaharoa Kokako Trust and the nearby walkway. Naturally I'd never known about this area if not for the caches you've placed. TFTC

Thanks tryfyn for the replacement cache! After finding the previous two caches on this track I was pretty sure what I was looking for... turns out I was half right... same camo... different container! Great hiding place that perfectly matches in with the hint. TFTC
From previous logs, it seems that this cache is unloved and unmaintained. Rather than see it archived, I tried to contact the CO several times about getting the cache replaced but received no reply. I was doing the track anyway today so I dropped a replacement cache at GZ in a location appropriate to the theme of the cache. Any issues, I'll be glad to come back and sign the CO's replacement cache. TFTC.
Think all the caches on this track are gone disappointing, but a lovely walk all the same.
Enormous great holes and collapsing ground, rotting area has been well excavated and disturbed. Cache possibly buried?
My in-laws just moved to the area so we decided to check out the reserve a few days ago. Wasn't even thinking about caches until Mrs J (eagle eyes) spotted one out of the corner of her eye. I returned today to try and find the others with no luck. Haven't seen a kokako yet but have seen a friendly robin on both occasions. Tftc have enjoyed going on a hunt while on these walks
This one was an easy find, and the track is a lovely walk! Only find for the track, so I'll be back within the week to get the rest!
27/07/16 14:30 Interesting... Found two containers at the same time (2 cachers, 2 caches - as I observed). So we removed the yoghurt pot and put its new waterproof paper log into the old systema container and removed the old (wet) log. Cache is 1m off the track where the yoghurt pot was. No need to dig out the stump. Thanks DOC for the series, Cheers, GC.
Later: Recached the yoghurt pot further back, on the track, replacing a long-past-use-by-date container.

Last of the DOC caches on this track (but one more to go). Still unsure my GPS is reliable, I walk pas to where it points GZ since there is nothing rotting there. 10m further sveppi and I spot a likely candidate. She walks around, I stay at the front, and we simultaneously find the cache... how can that be? 2 containers. The larger one I spotted, with old soggy logbook, with last signature dating back to december 2015. Sveppi spotted the newer smaller container with blank logsheet. We decided to combine the caches, with the new waterproof log placed in the larger container. It is still leaky though and might need some attention. The smaller pot was used to replace the cracked container further up the track, and GC kept the soggy logbook to return it to the owner.
Not the first time we find more than one container at one location, some cachers just don't have good eyes!

With fanfan-77 and GenCuster. I spotted one cache and fanfan-77 the other!! Mmmmm contents combined which freed up a container which GenCuster planned to use as a replacement for a earlier broken cache. Not the first time we have found two caches at the same spot. The rotting delight is now very rotting. TFTC
This required a simplified definition of "rotting" before the grandchildren got onto the scent. It was then quickly in hand and a few swaps arranged. This was a great day for a walk, and the little ones still had some energy left to keep on going down the hill to the stream. Took some photo opportunities and listened for a few moments to the various bird songs. TFTC
We walked further down the hill and found another cache. I really like hunting for caches and I'm glad you put this here for us. Geega helped us to learn about how the forest grows.

Ended up going to the far end of the track before starting to find the caches. At the first one on the trail we encountered some walkers so continued on knowing we would be back. A lovely track and we even managed to see a Kokako, despite Mr Geckoh trying to converse with it to try and make it talk back it stayed quiet.
Log book very damp, only just managed to get our names written. TFTC

Decided earlier in the week that a mission to clean up some caches between Rotorua and Tauranga. Also took a new Geocacher with me Sakura7, to show her the ropes and show her what geocaching is all about. A great day was had and with some fantastic locations visited, even if the weather was average to poor at best, still at least it wasn't cold. And as a bonus no DNF's thou it was close on a few.
Thanks to everyone for the placements.
Found this one on the way back to the car. Found the coords were a little out for me (10m or so) but the name of the cache gave it away to where I needed to look. I don't think the GPS was liking all the tree and cloud cover. Soon located the cache, with the tell tale sign of a hide.

Found on a hot summers day. Plenty of rot here. Log was a bit damp when I found it, so let it dry for a while in the sun.
Sincere apologies for the very late logging and the cut and paste logs ... long story.
Had a awesome day out with CatsandDragons exploring areas between Rotorua and Tauranga on the back roads. Came across some very clever originial hides that we hadn't seen before.
Many thanks

Today was the first planned trip for the new year in the company of Zorgon to collect as many caches as we could between the north end of Lake Rotorua, to Pukehina and back to Te Puke.
We set off early from home and of course this was our first walk of the day into a piece of bush that I had not investigated before. THank you for brining me here as it was a very nice short walk.
Not sure how long the cache is going to last as the log is already saturated and starting to rot like its surroundings
thanks for the placement

This is certainly a fragile one and wont last long judging by the debris around. One never knows what to expect putting hands in holes-giant centipedes always come to mind in the bush. Not this time however, thank goodness. Log was very wet
Needs a new log, the book was soaking wet, as were the pens and stickers. Tried to dry it out but didn't really have anything available.
We had been saving these 3 caches on the Kaharoa walk for when son and daughter in law and friend were here for Christmas, but daughter in law arrived with one leg in a moon boot from an ankle sprain and then we just ran out of time. Too many other things to do. After 8 days of big kids and grandkids in the house we needed a nice quiet walk in the bush. Kids have all gone and we have our peace, our house and our internet back.
Thought we were going to have to DNF this one. We hunted up and down, in and around, stuck our hands into all kinds of dodgy places, poked walking sticks into likely holes all to no avail. Mrs S was convinced it had been muggled, going by all the bits and pieces of rotting delight lying around. One place in particular had our attention but neither of us had had any joy with it, then Mr S had one last deeper feel and finally uttered those magic words.
Very well hidden. Thanks DOC for an interesting hide but not sure how long it's going to last. The process is well advanced.

Quickly saw the spot to look around for this cache and NZBiscuit decided I could put my hand in there! No problems - now on th the last one for NZBiscuit as I was here 3 years ago for that one. Thanks for bringing me back to this great walk and encouraging others to come here - It is a lovely and fairly easy walk. TFTC
thanks for the geocache and a pleasant walk this afternoon. This one,was an easy find and there was was a lot of gentle birdsong in the bush. I thoroughly enjoyed being out and about enjoying this peaceful and beautiful spot, although a damp Rotorua day the bush was sheltered and the plants and trees stunning epiphytes hanging from the trees, huge fungi clinging to the sides. I am giving this a favourite point my type of geocache. Thanks for the cache
10.45pm - No problem with this find, good sized container with good hint. Spotted location walking down track so lets try the one we passed. SLTFTC
Yay thus was our second FTF for the night after we couldn't find the epiphyte cache we were happy to find this one quickly great camo and a nice size container filled with stuff. The kids want to award this one a favourite . Thanks DOC
Was just settling in for a quiet Friday night, when the iPhone began buzzing with cache notifications... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... A quick call out to Gap (of Fap and Gap), and we were soon on the road.
The Kaharoa Kokako track is a great walk, though not one I've visited often... It was totally dark and we were forced to walk carefully by torchlight. There are plenty of exposed roots running across the path and the track drops off in places. For a bird sanctuary, this place was deathly quiet. We heard one morepork calling in the distance. Endured the perilous downhill climb to reach this cache. Lots of obstacles to trip on in the dark. Fortunately, this was a quick find. TFTC. Another great hide CO...
