Due to the large floods last year it'd be nice if the CO could check on this one as by the looks of the flood line everything was 1.5m underwater.
Gave it a solid look (four sets of experienced eyes) but to no avail. Sure we were in the right place, but no luck.
Geofamily trip to Victoria... Cool!
Mrs Moneydork, Moneydork, sushilord and I left Friday morning for a 4 day jaunt over the border to find a cache or two
Two nights in Wangaratta and then a night in Bendigo left me with 10 DNFs and 205 cache finds one of which was a FTF
Day 3 was Wangaratta to Bendigo as there is a particular wool mill there that geomum loves to visit [^] As with any family, when geo mum is happy... everyone else is [^]
Todays DNFs numbered 1 and the finds numbered 66 with some interesting caches and experiences amongst them.... not the least of them being me falling off of the walk the plank cache At least I found a PT there to make up for the fall
DNF! Our only DNF for the day and what a shame that we couldn't find it as it was interesting to see nature returning from its burnt out state

The geofamily are off on another trip to Mexico. Fun, sore backsides (for some) and Dad getting the geomobile stuck and breaking his bike, TWICE were the highlights of the trip. One of the running jokes for the trip was 'If it's 2.5T it's laying on the ground, if it's 2.5D it's under that pile of rocks or in the open, if it's listed as large we are looking for an eclipse tin' which came about due to a number of early finds. The lasting memory from this trip will be the grass seeds!!!
We attempted the three caches here with two hits and one strike. This was the strike, two of us couldn't locate a container. A lovely area.
Thanks for the cache South49 & WHS Yr 9 CLC Students.

It is always wonderful to explore the trails in locations such as this. There was plenty of bird life to be heard as I wandered along.
Arriving near GZ, the coordinates were sending me a bit further afield, however the title made it clear where I should be looking and the container was quickly located in a logical and likely spot.
Thanks for the cache.

Great day to go out caching with Nena Nine
Easy find by Nena Nine.

Team effort with Shadow 67 after having to cross dry river bed...wouldn't want to be doing this 1 in winter, was a beautiful day for exploring this part of Wang. TFTC South49
Easy enough to get to with the low waterlevels, co-ords were a tad out but the name gives it away. Lovely cool day for once and no slitherers.... TFTC
Felt a little bit naughty leaving the track when signs said not to. But all's fair, hey? TFTC
Wonderful little hide! Found it after figuring out we were on the wrong side of the river! TFTC!
TFTC. Went back today for another look after seeing somebody had found it recently. The GPS sent me to where I had previously looked. So I took a step back and went back to basics. I then looked up and realised the name of the case. Bingo. In the end the iPhone GPS was 11 meters out.
AS we continue our walk around this reserve we find ourselves getting close to this one, except for one problem, there seemed to be some water in the way???? A closer look at the map revealed an easy way around. So after a quick alteration to our route we soon found ourselves at GZ.
TFTC.
TFTC.
We think that we find the position of the hide but no cache was found. It may be MIA or I need a new pair of glasses. Will watch to see if it gets found.
had punched in slightly wrong co ords for this one but the hide soon became obvious. saw a pair of Anas gracilis near this hide. tftc south49.
#1535 Picked up the trio of caches in this area on a sunny but chilly Sunday arvo. The geohounds loved the run around the bush tracks. Mr BGF spied the little cache container blending in well with its surrounds. Wedged the container back where we found it after signing the log - TFTC
Went for a walk in this lovely bushland area, we thought the area was stunning.
Cache was found quickly, and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, South49, for us and others to find.

My bike ride around the peaceful Mullinmur Wetlands continued.
Hang on a second !! [:o]
There's a river in the way !!
Steppin' off the bike and taking a proper look over the edge revealed that this might not be a river, but a billabong
And there was a way across to the other side today
I really enjoyed the stroll.
No Joe Blakes seen [^]
Just a really neat cache

I found this one last, as the sun was setting. The low light definitely hindered my search but lucky I had my phone with it's trusty torch app to help me find this well camouflaged cache. Thanks for this cache and the series, and well done on all the re-vegetation, track clearing and other environmental projects happening in this area
Found ourselves on the wrong side of the billabong and realised we needed to find another way over other than swimming. Tftc
Last for the day and on our way home now. Loved the area this cache is in, what with all the nesting boxes and planting of new trees... Good to see. Most relaxing to be in the bush and so close to town ... TFTC
Good to see so much work being done in this area - All the planting, seats, and new tracks.
We started on the wrong side of the billabong, but found tracks around which was fortunate as we weren't looking forward to building a bridge with all the sleepers on such a hot day!
A short walk on the Turtle track (didn't see any turtles, but heard heaps of crickets), and we were at GZ.
BB did the dirty work, and the cache was in hand.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 7287. Our first caching finds of the New Year. We are a little late getting off the mark this year. Robmc and I ventured to Wangaratta to grab a couple of the recent hides.
Such a hot morning to be walking through this extremely dry area. We noted the turtle loop and figured there haven't been any turtles looping through here for a while. There was some pleasant greenery still growing in the damp sections of the billabong however. We made our way to GZ but with the cache to hand the GPS was wanting us to search 9 metres elsewhere. Added our names and returned the cache to its cosy residence.
Thanks South49

A part of the river flats I've never been too before so it was nice to stroll around here. I often think one of the best aspects of caching is the places it takes one, often unkown places in ones backyard, and this cache has done just that beautifully.
Thanks indeed South49 and WHS.

In Wangaratta again with enough time to wander with some purpose in this lovely bushland area. I had no idea this wetland was even here so thanks for bringing me to it and allowing me to explore some of the wetland area. A neat cache Thanks South49
Harrowang had told us about this cache a couple of weeks earlier and the GeoKid took great delight in reading out the logs - we had a good laugh at the FTF entry and could just imagine those watching the camera footage would've enjoyed the same lucky they're cachers as well. Decided to do this after dinner as it's so close to our place and enjoyed the walk with the sounds of kookaburras and some other bird life, with the beginning sounds of cicadas a little further off. Pleased to see the area being taken care of and improved on. It will be a nice place to visit in the coming months and years.
2nd TF in the daylight (!) at 6.20pm. Laughed so much whilst reading mvyrmnd's log last night that mr harrowang couldn't understand what I was saying! This evening after work we took a walk amongst the billabongs and easily found this newly published cache. Took note of all the work that has been done recently as well as a few photos to post here. A lovely area, which will be much improved with continued works by WHS CLC and other community members. The trees are amazing and it is good to see so many nesting boxes in place. #2472 TFTC South49 and encouraging folks to visit the billabongs.
FTF!
It's been a very long time since I've had a 9pm "kill zone" Ftf dash - so this one caught me by surprise.
I headed off as soon as I had the email, and made my way to GZ, trying the beeline method first and coming up against the lake/creek. After navigating around it and discovering that following the path the whole way would have been more prudent, I came up on the obvious object described by the cache name.
Immediately I spotted something: a night vision wildlife camera, strapped to the tree and thought it would be a very clever cache camo, and set about pulling it apart. Once I discovered the "on" switch, the SD Card and batteries I realized it was for real! Whoever owns it got a few good shots of the inside of my nose, and some heavy breathing...
After a more thorough search and a check to see if the cache was indeed 15m off as the co-ords suggested (it was not) I eventually came across the real hide and signed my name.
After speaking an apology to the camera (in case it had a microphone) I headed back to the car.
TFTC, a good first effort, and I hope the camera owner doesn't mind their camera being taken apart by future finders who don't read this log!
