Logs

It was International Earthcache Day today, so while I was doing the Earth cache nearby, I made a quick side-trip to this cache. I had an idea of what I was looking for and trusting the coords made it a quick find. Log is too wet to sign, though, but I took a picture in case the CO wants to see it. Thanks for hiding and maintaining. Tftc

Heading to a friends house and this cache was not that far away from her house and I was a little early. A short walk from the train station and a quick search and there was the cache. The log is mostly a mess now, I managed to sign in a tiny gap, but it is damp, full and falling apart, so will need a little maintenance. Thanks for the cache and the excuse to Dilly Dally for a moment. #1881

Down from Whangarei and in the area, so decided a cache or two should be on the agenda, whilst I did a bit of an exercise jaunt around the basin. No problem with muggles here today and the cache was a nice quick find, more or less where expected. TFTC

This is the smallest cache I've ever found. Good spot. Still enough paper for 3 or 4 more finds. Pin exactly on the spot

20-Feb-24
This was an interesting adventure. We were circumnavigation the Panmure Basin. Well, actually completing the circuit as disappointingly the Jubilee Bridge is closed. We saw this cache nearby, so we deviated off trail. I wasn't expecting this bridge at all. I enjoy these hides and looked, but did not see. Macwatt peers over me and spots this straight away. Thanks for the placement vamber.

What great spot for a cache I was able to locate it reasonably quickly due to the sharp co-ords...then as I was replacing it a truck whizzed by underneath me and the cache fell from my hand and attached itself to the back off the truck the good news is that it's not lost.its travelling around Auckland somewhere Nah just kidding..its in good condition and replaced as found .Thanks for all the information about this project ....appreciate your efforts Vamber

Having been to Mutukaroa/Hamlins Regional Park and cleared out the hides there I wondered where to go next. I was on foot and had my dog with me. A puzzle final lured me to this side of the motorway so I walked there and then it was still a couple of hours before GAR would be able to pick me up. This was one of the few unfound caches in the area so over I walked. While looking in all the wrong places I received a call from my daughter during which I couldn't look properly, and, by the time I found the hide I was was wanting to sit down. Which I did as I had seen no-one else on the bridge the while time I'd been looking and talking. Found the log a bit damp and almost tore it in two when it wouldn't unwind to the middle and decided my pen wasn't going to be able to write on it without wrecking it so had to dig into my bag for something easier on the paper. This youngish dude had come over by then and paid attention to the dog and then also sat down on the bridge. He was talking some real nonsense and started to show me his privates. To say I was uncomfortable was an understatement. How to put the cache back without alerting him but at the same time separate myself from his attention? I think I managed it and walked away in the opposite direction of where I wanted to go while he vacated the area! Another adventure today for sure. Thanks for the hide vamber and I hope no-one else has to cope with that for sure!

Whenever we come to Auckland our first stop is Martha’s Backyard to stock up on our fav pancake mix plus a few other goodies. Had a look at the map and this cache was close by so we wandered up to it. Took a couple of passes to find it but find it we did! TFTC

Was out exploring this area today as due to COVID restrictions we had not done so for many weeks.
Decided to park by the model train station and walk around on this sunny (but windy!) day.
Found this nice and straight-forward one on our way out of the basin - all in good condition here thanks!

Needed a cache to fill a dot day and knew we would be passing here so decided to give it a go.

Have been here previously with no luck but today with no one around we were able to methodically work our way across the bridge and make the find.

Item no longer matches the hint so I believe a part may be missing but it’s still all ok with log in good condition for now.

Thanks for the cache. Found with cragger and laval.

02-Sep-19
On our way back home from our day out and about and wasn’t quite ready for dinner so thought we would give this cache another go.Its definately been one that’s bugged us.As we got to the gz there were some Chinese muggles making photos which seemed strange. We waited for them to finish and then started our search in pretty much the same places as our last two visits here.Sent out a message to another cache as we didn’t want to go away empty handed again but before she replied we had the cache in our hands and were signing the log. This cache gave us dirty hands on all occasions and this time on our hands and knees glad to say third time lucky.

29-Jun-19
Joined up with Merlot58 on a cold but sunny winters morning to walk around the basin. We detoured off the circuit to collect this cache. So many possible places to hide a tiny cache here, but a systematic search proved successful and it wasn't long before Merlot located this one.

29-Jun-19
In the area with Jag50. We ended up doing a systematic search to find this sneaky hide

27-Jun-19
For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 8 caches today. I won't complain if I get 1 or 2 moreRazzWink.Today's adventure was to go out to the Panmure Basin to find the required number. I parked down by the Waipuna Lodge.

This one had me searching in several places before finally locating it.

Cheers for the cache.

25-Jun-19
This took a bit of time. Just as well no one was about. Had no luck on one side so changed sides and found it straight away.TFTC

23-May-19
Staying at the Waipuna Hotel Panmure Basin for a two day conference so wanted to collect some local caches. Had to have two goes at this one. Read old logs which helped. Just knew it had to be there and happy when my fingers confirmed it’s presence. TFTC

19-May-19
Found 2.10pm
Arrangement made to travel to Auckland again. So by the time we all met up and vehicle loaded with cachers from Huntly, Rotorua and me from Papamoa plus 2 bikes we headed north. First back to Highbrook to collect balance of caches that we had missed previously. Once this was done we widened search patterns including new caches at Panmure Basin. Weather today not the best so we cut the day short and headed for home. Caches signed as Team HRP.
Thanks to all cache owners for placements. SLTFTC

19-May-19
Nice easy find

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... It’s been a few months since we all ventured out together. We enjoyed catching up, swapping stories, and the usual banter. Time seemed to pass quickly, as it does when you have good company...

Since the weather wasn’t looking too hot, we decided we needed to stay close enough to our vehicle. Indeed, rain forced us indoors and a late lunch. But once the rain subsided, we were back in action...

The Panmure Basin was our next target... After completing the Scooby Doo series and rejoining our Huntly friends, we proceeded to take a ring route around the basin... This cache gave us maximum grief, as it was no doubt intended to do. We rubbed up and down and extended our search in both directions. Previous logs proved helpful. They helped us to narrow down our search zone... TFTC.

10-Oct-18
I apologise for the generic log, but today was all about the numbers. I am attending WENZ in 10 days time, and I want to have the Mega event as my 1000th cache, so I have only these few days to find about 90 caches.
So whilst I'm staying in Auckland for a few days, I wanted to take a look around an area I hadn't previously visited, which was Stonefields and the surrounding area.

So parking near GZ, I roughly saw where the hiding spot would be and so it was simply a case of surreptitiously timing my drop down for a good search, and was lucky enough to find it in no time. The container and its contents are all in good condition, so the log was quickly signed and the whole thing was replaced exactly as found and then onto the next attempt.

Thanks for the cache.

Found it, good hide, you have to get your hands dirty, it's not on the right nor on the left Smile
