TFTC! Today was day one of the "boys weekend" with me and Cravo heading up to Geraldton for IGD 2016, my third trip to this great part of our state and johns second. Think we will continue to do this every year? Especially with all of the new caches getting published around town!!

We drove up the coastal route to cleanup the last of what we had left, so that we could concentrate on the various alternate routes on the way home and on our trip to Geraldton and Mullewa next week for the annual Mullewa Gift event.

We picked up a number of new caches along the route and even some that we had missed on previous visits, being in a 4wd this year made it a lot easier to get to some of the hard to reach places that a 2wd would struggle to get to.

We completed a few really nice caches at cliff head including a legendary Liz and Bruce hide and a couple of ten year old caches.

We got to Greeenough and decided to complete the greenough walk trail caches as well as the caches along Delvin road, knowing that we wouldn't be heading back this way on the way home.

The greenough walk trail was great except for getting two flat tyres from some slow leaks that happened to go a bit faster!!

We then moved our attention to the planes series, which was just bliss, chewed through about 25 caches in just over an hour with Cravo and me taking turns at finding the most likely spot for a cache from about two hundred meters away.

We then meandered around town cleaning up a bunch of caches that have either been recently published or we've missed previously. Had a couple of DNFs, nowhere near as many as I famously had last year, but I might have to refresh my notes from some local cache owners who I'm looking forward to meeting at the event tomorow.

Thanks to the local COs for their hospitality so tatami their cool caches.

Headed to Geraldton for the International Geocaching Day event on Saturday 20th August.

Barnzy12 and I packed the car at 6am and headed North. Despite making a critical error by choosing the freeway to start the journey we then made it to Geraldton and checked into the motel by 5.30pm.

We found several caches along the way some new, old and even archived caches. As I missed the event last year I was guided to some others on the map that I hadn't found before and made for some quicker finds yet still enjoyable.

Ended up back at the motel after getting the new plane spotting series and some other caches close to the city centre at around 9pm. Beers were cold and was then time to relax. After a 15 hour day sleep was needed ready for the big day tomorrow.

A good find while in town.
Thanks.

11-Aug-16
Visiting from Queensland and stayed in Dongara for a couple of nights to have the car serviced before we go chasing more wild flowers. We spent the day finding (and not finding) caches in town. We did not find this one - a case of cache blindness maybe. Thanks for bringing us here anyway.

Day 3 of a road trip to Geraldton along the Indian Ocean Drive, which wasn't here when we last tripped up this way. Today took 6 hours to get to Geraldton from Dongara visiting all those places you usually drive by on a "normal" trip and exploring the many small towns along the way. The added bonus is the number of caches along the way which accounts for some of the extra time that it took. Big Grin

Made a quick find of the nice large cache. Much of the cammo has fallen off but the internals were OK apart from the slaters which we removed. Signed the log and left one of our tagz.
No trackables found in this cache.

Thanks for the cache Samuls35 [^] - we made the find and the cache was in good order and the log dry Cool.

This was find # 1 of 16 Smile and 1 Sad today giving us a total cache count of 3164.

I headed on in through the half built suburban development here,
to reach a spot close to GZ Smile
And a short stroll later found meself estuary side.
A beautiful spot [^]

The estuary has filled up after recent rains and the cache was located on an island !! Razz
I did wonder how I could reach GZ without getting wet feet !!
Me hiking boot can handle about six inches of water.
And fortunately that was about as deep as the water got Smile

So with wet on the outside, but not on the inside boots,
I reached out for the cache ...
... it was floating in the water.
Held in place by the grass growing over it Smile

I grabbed the box and opened it ...
... all nice and dry inside Big Grin
Logbook signed and I put it back where I found it.

Floating in about 4 inches of water with vegetation to stop it drifting off down the esturary Big Grin

TFTC.

Yay watching the lighting great hide

We stopped at the road and took a stroll down the track to the river, we had expected the way to be difficult with a lot of shrub growth as we had tried to pinpoint where we would be going when we was standing on the opposite bank. To our surprise the track was very well formed and took us right to the waters edge, very pretty. We soon had the cache in hand and admired the work that had gone into its' camoflague.

We collected the Beach Turtle TB to move along - Bonobo the Monkey was no present.

Left at 3.30am from Perth to go to Geraldton for a few days, and stopped along the way to pick up some caches. Most caches were found quite quickly with a few tricky ones that took a bit of searching. Managed to find 45 on the way with only 1 DNF which I think might be missing .Looking forward to finding more tomorrow TFTC

Sorry for late logging! We have taken the travelbug and will do some research as to where to move it to next. It was a great hide. Water was about 2.5 meters away. Swapped some items for bubbles! TFTC. I have just checked out the travel bug. It's not Bono the Monkey. The travel bug I picked up from The Retreat appears to be Geocacher's Evolution Geocoin from Germany. I will move this one along according to the instructions.

Did a big loop today to pick up some caches in the mid-west, with mixed results, I'm afraid. Only found 14 out of 20 caches, quite a poor result of 70%. Couldn't find this one despite crawling around under trees. Lots of new, long grass after recent rains, so probably needs more time than I was prepared to give.

08-Mar-15
Spent longer searching for this than I wanted to! Great camo Smile GPS went crazy. TFTC

05-Mar-15
Nice spot on the river. Cache well hidden. Having a great afternoon finding caches. Time to head back for coffee now! Or is it wine o'clock. TFTC. SL.

In Dongara for work and had an opportunity for a smilie. I thought I might get wet feet searching for this one but it was safely high and dry. I believe the river flow peaked yesterday following heavy rains inland to the north east. The muddy river water has broken at the mouth and is turning the sparkling blue water of the ocean brown.
I too wandered around and around and was about to give up when I spied my target. Yeehaa. I have dropped off three TB's that I've carried with me way too long looking for a decent sized holder. Thanks for the adventure.

01-Mar-15
Nice camouflage

28-Feb-15
Got this one eventually after circling the tree several times

Kids made some swaps and I left a monkey to swing in the trees by the river

A few days in downtown Dongara, fishing, metal detecting and generally enjoying ourselves.
Needed a cache to fill a blank on the calender and attempted this one with Rajah2. The cache is located on a beautiful part of the river complete with a number of swans. Took a couple of minutes to locate this one (good camo) but we finally got there. SL TNLN TFTC Samuls35, good one.

This cache nearly tricked us. We walked around in circles widened our search, found heaps of rubbish but no cache. We kept coming back to the same spot over and over again and geo-hubby was having one last look. "I thought you looked here already" he shouted, "It's here". It needed definitely a men's look this time. Great camo, worth a favorite. TFTC Samuls35.
