Hi kated274This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. Having just failed to find the cache nearer to the carpark, I came up here after work today in the hope that maybe this one would be my find for the day. It probably didn't help much that the light was failing by this point, but after 20 minutes of searching around the place I called a halt and headed back to the car. No doubt I shall return at some stage.
We decided to walk the wet foot track to cool down tonight. We missed this one on the way up so stopped and looked on the way back, but couldn't find it this time and there where a lot of muggles passing by. We will try again.
Locked up the bike at the end of the road and set off on foot. This took me a while to find, and part way through I checked the difficulty - 3.5. Okay, it's supposed to be hard, so fair enough. In the end I found the cache in the open and its original hide falling apart (which is why it the container was in the open). The log sheet was paper and unwriteable, so I replaced it with some waterproof paper and placed the cache under its camo (since it cannot be returned *in* its camo ). On to the next up this... badly named dry creek...
Lonely Cache! Woohoo!
Today is painting day - painting the walls of three bedrooms and the hallway. So I came out and headed north instead. I need a puzzle cache and a size "other" today. It ended up being 40km of cycling, and 5 hours to grab 4 caches, DNF one and check the location of another for later. Big day! Sore legs. Mainly because it was a significant head wind while heading north, but it was a gentle head wind heading home. That's annoying! I was hoping for a fast trip home. Oh well.

Had a good look around today but nothing. No problem next time. Sherlockk Hood.
Didn't take too long to spot something that didn't look quite right. Log is very wet and was hard to sign. Cool cache though, will give it a FP. TFTC
Looked around for sometime but just didn’t get it! Another time maybe....
Got my feet wet on the way back, oops.
Got my feet wet on the way back, oops.
Last time we looked, despite an intensive search we gave up. After viewing previous logs we though we knew what the type of hide would be and so it proved within a couple of minutes. Gets another FP to add to the collection for something a bit different and well constructed.
Great find in fading light. After a lot of rain recently, I actually had to jump 3 water spots before reaching this area. Cache all good. TFTC
Took a bit of searching but got there in the end, after expanding our search radius (thanks to a previous log for suggesting looking further afield! ). TFTC.

I headed back up this track this evening to finally put pen to paper after spying it on a previous trip. I was surprised that I was able to drive all the way up to the end of the gravel road this time, and I was glad for it as I wandered up wearing my walking shoes. I managed to cross the first crossing without issue, but just around that corner it was a flat bit which was covered by the stream, still a little high after last night's rain. I made the decision to walk the short distance back to my car to swap out with my gumboots. I was then able to make my way to GZ without issue. Soon found the well-camoed cache and signed the log. All good here. TFTC
Down for the Wellington Mega with KirsTim & yorkshirekiwi83 and vistra for the weekend, picking up caches in the area along the way. Lots of fun had and some cool sights to see. We especially enjoyed finding these caches in the Dry Creek area today, what a beautiful area! Many thanks to all the cache owners for the great maintenance and their caches!
Spent the long weekend down in Wellington and the surrounding region with Vamber, KirsTim and vistra, we were there for the Mega event and we picked up some caches along the way. Got to GZ and started searching, no luck, re read the description and paced it out, had another look and this time our luck was in, there it was. TFTC
I flew down to Wellington just for the day today to attend the WENZ Mega Event and I joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83, Vamber and KirsTim for a day's caching, which was focussed primarily on caches in the Hutt Valley area - signing all logs as KKKTTS. We decided that a walk was in order, so headed to Dry Creek and did the loop walk there - which was an enjoyable outing, where we managed to find all caches! Took a look for this on the way up to the Waterfall, took a bit of searching, but we got there in the end. TFTC!
Out and about with Vamber, yorkshirekiwi83 and Vistra to get some caches in the area. First up we thought this would be relatively easy, but after some searching and not being able to locate the hint tree we expanded the search across the river before re-reading the description to discover we didn't need to. Re-read the description again and soon got to the right spot and spotted the cache. Thanks for the hide. Signed the log as KKKTTS
A nice location and then a bit of a challenge to find but found it was! In the end I had expanded my search area 10M to the SE and then I spotted something that seemed a little out of place.

yay, went on a walk with my mum Greenslime in the back pack today, i got to hit mum in the face with a big stick, i dont think she liked that much, she took it off me. i wish she would have let me play in the stream but i dont think she wanted me to get wet... honestly mum, i would have only got my feet... honest i am only two though.
# 1114 A Short trip on the dangerPACK for dangerSAM today. I was dubious about my ability to find this one as I can have cache blindness with a spot of bias at the worst of times. Doubly hard walking in tight bush with a two year old who likes to grab at sticks. But after first searching the area where markhnz coords lead, then widening the cordon and coming back to the previous spot I eyed something that wasn't so much as suspicious in the way it looked but more the way it was laying. Sure enough a crafty cache container was revealed. Unsure if such intense cam us required in such a remote area but cool nonetheless. Log was wet so replaced with paper in a plastic bag. Cache returned to the same configuration as found which may help the next finder make the tricky find. thanks kated274 for the cache.
Shame not to get this one - based on some of the previous logs which finally came up despite dodgy phone coverage we had a fair idea what to look for but despite 30 min of searching nothing was turned up. It was also confusing which track was being talked about as a recent washout near the toilet area probably means the track referenced in the description is no longer in use although the point where it comes out near GZ is still accessible.
Will return if it is found again for another look as it seems several people have found it quickly on a return visit in a place they previously looked at.

Came up here to claim a FTF on Walfway Wet but upon entering the bush came across wb1116 who got the FTF credit. This became a caching covention as met wb1116, a British/Dutch couple (who are in Wellington for the day) and pukeho1 at differing stages of the walk. This took a little while due to GPS bounce but soon spotted something different. Everything in order. TFTC

#5350. Have a day of leave available. Mrs GSEL wanted to do some shopping in Lower Hutt for birthday parties so I headed over with her and dropped her off at the shops. Then had three hours to do some caching. Was initially planning to go further up the Hutt Valley but decided to stop and do a few around the Dry Creek area instead. Wandered up the track and then started the search. Not obvious initially so read a bit more and saw it was a nicely made camo cache. So turned on the radar and looked more closely. Within 3 minutes I spied something that needed closer inspection and there was the well constructed cache. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks kated274 for going the extra distance with this cache. Favourite awarded.

Walked up to the waterfall with family.
We had a look on the way up but didn't find it. Then on the way back had another look using huhugrub's coordinates which seemed a little better and we found it fairly quickly.
I managed to get all the way to the waterfall without getting wet feet, but all the kids were walking through the creek.
Nice track and hide.
Thanks.

Cache # 4,085 - over 11 months later, and with noticing lots of finds on this, came back today with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly with determination to find it this time. Relied on the description to guide us to look in the right spot, rather than the GPS which, as it did last time, bounced all over the place. The description referenced the old trail which is no longer in use, but it was easy enough to spot where it was referring to. We split up and started our search. After several minutes VB shouted out that they had found it. A very nicely hidden cache, and worth a favourite point. Logsheet is damp, as noted in other logs, and next cacher who has a very small ziplock bag should bring it along. TNLNSL. TFTC!

A cache today with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Had previously not found it, but note about the hill made sense today. We all went in different directions and I chose the right one. GPS was not much help at all. Very clever. Thank you!

Found while out with NZ1. Third time lucky for me for this one. Very clever camouflage. Cache in good order. TNLNSL, TFTC.
Found while out with Glad-NZ finally. Area has changed since we were last in the area. Cache was a little damp. TFTC
I wandered up to check things out here before doing the loop. Found after a short search. TFTC
Actually, I got wet toes walking through the wet grass on the way to GZ. Once there I cast about looking for some likely object. The hint didn't give much away, but a couple of words in the description suggested the sort of hide I might be seeking. It took me about ten minutes, but once I spotted the hide I knew exactly what I was looking at.
TFTC, +FP for a nicely hidden cache.

This was our third attempt to find this cache. We had searched and searched this spot twice and come up empy handed. Today, we found it just like that- how is that possible!
Finally, can check this one off the list!
Finally, can check this one off the list!
The co-ords had me out in the open clearing. Confused, searched all over the place up to 20 metres, didn't cross the stream as per instructions, but big fail. Maybe check co-ords???
Dexter the Border Collie and I walked past here this evening and checked on the cache. Still there!

Tim and I went out in the evening to write our name in the log book for this one. We found it once before but decided to save recording our visit for another day. Today was the day!
Dexter the Border Collie came with us and we had a nice walk from the bottom car park up to the stream and back. There were quite a few people staying in the camp ground and we had to wait for a person who was having a wash in the stream before filing in the log.
The cache is in the same position was originally found it in. It is in good condition. wb1116's replacement log is in there and it is nice and dry.
Thank you

This one ended a reasonably dismal day for us, as this was our 4th DNF out of 11 tried. An interesting area, and once I found the right spot using huhugrub's coordinates and read the logs, thought I knew what I was looking for, but had no luck in finding it. Will watch the cache for future successes before attempting again.
It looks like high water levels may have taken this away. If someone who has seen this previously could look to see if it's still there at some stage that would be great
A quick find once at GZ using huhugrub's adjusted coords - container in hand within two minutes. The container was pretty wet and log book plus newest sheet unusable.
I had a spare sheet of write in the rain paper with me so replaced. I have the original soggy log book if CO would like it back.
Thanks for the sneaky hide. There were a number of possible objects to check, however one stood out and I was able to go straight to it which cut my time on site considerably.
Cache gets a Favourite Point for the work that went in to creating the outer.

Was just about to DNF this due to GPS staggers but I spotted something which looked slightly suspicious. Ha. Nice hide. Log is soaked and unusable so added a piece of dry paper to sign. Soon to be wet also no doubt. TFTC.
Clever cache, thanks kated274! p.s. log rather damp, could only just write in.
Took us a long time to find this, only after widening the search did we finally stumble across it. Great hide!
Ok, maybe just one more after doing the dry creek loop. FP for the nicely designed cache. GPS had me about 3m away, but relatively quick find while dodging muggles... got a very nasty glare from a grandmother as she saw me lurking with the dogs!!

This was a second attempt for me and my GPSr took me to the place as last time; somewhere that didn't seem right. I reverted to huhugrub's coordinates which turned out to be a lot more useful. After a few minutes searching, I found the cleverly crafted cache. The logbook is in dire need of replacement but I managed to find a spot dry enough to provide proof of my visit.
Very clever hide after about 15 mins of looking while our with krazy Kookies and paling5

Tftc very clever indeed, after about 45 minutes of searching I was ready to concede defeat but with one more glance into the bush I saw something that looked a little to perfect to have come from nature!
Found this ages ago. Must have forgotten to log. Was a great hike with my kids picking up lots of caches. TFTC.
Early morning walk, it looks like it will be a fine day after yesterday's rain.
The upper story was wet so my GPS wouldn't cooperate, as I suspected it wouldn't. However I had saved the cache on c:geo and was able to get near. The GZ was going to have a wide radius so I ditched the phone and set to work.
Initially I focussed on one word of the hint but after quite some time fossicking through the undergrowth back and forth along the track I remembered another word of the hint and a light went on. I had made an identical cache myself so knew what I was looking for. Even so, with such a wide radius it was tricky. Read the logs of course which reinforced my suspicions regarding the cache type.
Spent about 45 minutes at GZ before giving up (a few times).
As I was leaving I had a last pitiful glance back through the undergrowth and spotted it! Right there. No wonder I hadn't seen it though, the recent winds had covered it in leaves and debris.
Clever little cache and you can thank Dad for putting the effort into creating it The lid doesn't quite seal so the log is wet, but I was able to leave my mark.
Gets a FAV from me

Found after extending the search area, about 20m from what I had as GZ, the log is wet, but managed to write my name down, TFTC
In here after a romp around the nearby hills, a quick trip up to Boulder.
Surprisingly busy around here today. Lots of freedom campers down at the carpark. Apparently foreign tourists. It seems that the regional park has become the in place to be! How about that.
Once at GZ we decided that reading the description might help. It did. But still, when we finally found what we had come looking for, we were around 10 metres from what the GPSr was telling us was GZ. Maybe this is bush cover error.
Anyway, pleased to make the find. As previous cachers have noted, the log is wet. Cleverness in cache design without doubt. Admired the skills. CO may like to pay a visit and consider the need to get the log in dryness. Managed to sign and then re-hid the cache, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

#6465. Parked at the Dry Creek entrance to Belmont Regional Park. Only a couple of other vehicles and a tent in the car park. A short walk on the Waterfall Track. All quiet. GPS was challenging at GZ. Found after a short search, more than 10 metres away. Nicely creative hide. The cache was in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Looked around for a while for this one without any joy before heading on to the waterfall, had another look around on the way back without to much success. Just before giving up thought i would have a quick look in another location further away from the cords and found straight away. TFTC
Found with Just-Lookin on a nice walk in the area.
Took a couple of minutes to find the hint object.
The plug had been jammed in backwards but I got it carefully out.

Couldn't find it on the way up the track, we thought that it would be by the first stress that you could get your feet wet so we went past both the bridges but luckily found it on the way back, its a cool container in a easy hiding place. Tftc
I found it but the last post was for a different one, lol. It was a reAl cool cache in a cool hiding place tftc.
That was a bit tricky... Just off the track is a bit more than we thought.
Nice hide though.

Second time searching for this. 12 m out. Found straight away this time. Lots of campers at entrance way. Nice hide. Tftc
Never been to this part of Belmont Regional Park. Thought I would do a quick dash up Waterfall Track. First one of day. Fair idea of what I was looking for given hint so quickly found the well hidden cache. I am the second finder for day. Busy little track today. Thanks for the cache.
Second time lucky hint a bit misleading there is a bridge no need for wet feet till the next crossing. Had me stumped due to gps bouncing around clever cache thanks. about a year ago I was walking here with a friend and came across a man with his wife and two young children. he had jumped across the creek and broken his foot clean break it was hanging at a very scary angle. we perched him on a branch and carried him out to the grass we then found a man with a 4*4 to go retrieve him and take him to the hospital.

Needed a cache for the day and as the weather had definitely improved over the wind & rain of the morning, decided to put the boots on and go for a quick wander in the sun. A 3TF for me today, and surprised more people haven't visited since publication. Nicely done. Always enjoy this type of hide.

FTF @ 5.05pm (Sorry, Yeetrees). Was just about to go and collect the car from the garage when this one came through. A quick dash up the Hutt valley, and then a gentle Saunter to GZ, where my phone GPS Spun like a top, but eventually reached some sort of consensus on the likely location, and I spotted it shortly afterwards. A nice, neat little hide, and thank you for bringing my back to this area. One day I WILL get around to doing the loop walk! TFTC.
