Finally this one is off the radar. Since becoming aware of it last time it’s been bugging me no end, knowing my name was in the logbook. Finally I returned child free to tackle the climb. The start was a little easier than I anticipated, but from there the workout soon began. Like CO, when my caching career started being many meters up a tree was a far from appealing proposition. Over time i’ve got better, but it still scares the pee one double ess out of me at times. In particular when I cant progress while maintaining 3 points of contact, which happened here once or twice. Eventually it was time to work my way back down. Made it to the last branch and I thought I was home and hosed. Dropped down to terra firma and returned to the car, only to realise I hadnt quite got away unscathed when I noticed a hand covered in claret. Turns out I took a small chunk out of a finger swinging myself down from the last branch. Probably a good thing this one is archived the tree isn’t looking overly healthy, particularly compared to it’s neighbours.
Thanks Jacko83 for placing this Small Traditional - caches like this encourage me to push my boundaries. This is find 1514 for BFMC

Well maybe not no-one will see the log.... I did! Now I know i'm in the logbook I guess i'm going to have to go back and climb the damn thing at some point to get me a smiley... maybe best done without any geokids in tow just in case
Well not that anyone will see this log, but I was certainly happy for the challenge and another tree climb in the area. Everyone should know their own limits. There are caches out there for everyone. I like adventure caches so I put out adventure caches. If you can’t get the smiley that’s okay! There’s plenty of puzzles I’m never going to get a smiley for because I’m bad at maths and don’t understand computer coding. I think we all get what we want out of this game. For me, it’s challenges like this that test and push me ?? thanks Jacko83

[green] Got it![/green]
Straight forward climb and log don't know what the fuss was all about. Some people just need to learn to move on if a cache appears to hard or difficult
[green]Merci beaucoup
Cheers

I arrived at GZ, saw the cache, climbed the tree quickly, and stamped my mark in the log book. Nice and simple!
TFTC Jacko!!
TFTC Jacko!!
wow that was up higher then i thought. felt like 100mtrs in the air :/ hated this one. very hard to spot let alone climb as its risking serious injury or worse if u drop! dont look straight down is the key
spend another 30mins looking but cant spot. im not gonna risk climbing a tree and breaking my arm or leg. not worth it if its that high up. how do you expect an elderly couple to climb a tree
Only had about 25 min so quickly jumped up to the top of the tree that the gps was pointing to. Only had time for a super quick look from what i thought was a very big tree !!!! No doubt the cache is there but i think i will return on a day were i have a bit more time TFTC anyway, i will be back
Looks like someone is pulling my leg. Cache is sitting in its spot. Need right angle to spot this black box.
Also tested a few dead branches to make sure still sturdy. All good.

Found a box with the name I the geocache but it wasn't in a tree. Sitting in a branch hanging above the ground. I would love to attempt this cache when it's in the proper tree.
Will have a look asap. Interesting as box was secured to the tree... I respect your pride not logging despite finding the box!
spent 20 mins could not find and couldnt find a tree that was easy to climb anyway. gps kept moving around too. no way too hard

Hot off the drive from Portland I dropped the wife and daughter off at Westfield and headed off for some caches this was the second one chosen after parking the car and walking from the first.
The three and a half hour drive hadn't helped to limber up and i made a very slow start but got going OK once on the first branch. About half way up I began to wonder if I was in the right tree as I couldn't spot the cache, I checked the GPS and it was pointing to a GZ some 15 metres in the distance, so down I went for some circle work and eventually spotted the cache and so back up I went about 2 meters from the cache I paused for a rethink of desire to sign this log book as the 10 metres of free fall i was going to receive if one of the dead branches i needed to rely on should fail wasn't going to end prettily and as I didn't have even so much as someone to dial 000 for me I decided to back down and return with some safety gear another time.
Jacko you're sure cured you fear of trees.

Found as we did the geelongopoly event with the help of teamtriton (we think thats their name) that we keep meeting on the race. TFTC and the cool hide.
Scariest cache to date I too am afraid of heights and I almost didn't make it up this one but with the perseverance and encouragement from my fellow cachers cache was in trembling hands log was signed forgive the messy handwriting lol found with jesstu666 and purple monkey 17 tftc
After talking to purplemonkey17 he said his birthday was coming up and he has only just started geocaching and would like us to take to a few around the Geelong area and we gratefully accepted, this was very scary there was no way i was going up that high lucky s.Piddy was with us or i would never get it down, thanks for the cache
Found it as soon as we got there. Nice and easy to find, so dangerous to get. Lots of dead and thin branches to climb. I may not be doing it again any time soon!
This is definitely one of those caches that I got halfway through and thought to myself, my muggle friends would think I'm crazy for doing this. When I got to the top of the tree and signed the log, I thought to myself, what on earth possessed me to do this, this is nuts. Very challenging climb, I love climbing trees and even though I was telling myself that I'm never doing anything like this again, I know for sure that I'd do it all again tomorrow. Thanks Jacko83.
We must have just missed the Tritonz on our attempt today. One of the bunnies grew up climbing lots of trees in the country and this spot definitely brought back some memories. It lives up to the 4.5 terrain, particularly with some flexible moves just towards the end! Fortunately it is away from prying eyes and even with a bit of a breeze blowing, the tree was quite sturdy. Glad we had the pen in the pocket! Thanks for the challenge and releasing the inner child again.
When we seen the email come through for this one we were both at work. Wow, a tree climb, and a tall tree at that, how exciting. Well exciting for one half of the Tritonz, the other half cringed at the thought.
We had picked up another cache with Jacko83 in the area, so he agreed to be the spotter while the brave Triton done the tree climb and the squeamish Triton cringed and took photos.
One giant leap and he was off, much to The CO's amazement. His inner monkey kicked in and he was scrambling from branch to branch, with the log signed in minutes and with minimal damage to himself.
The climb down is always trickier. It took a bit longer but with his adrenaline still pumping he managed to find his way back down and get two feet planted back on terra firma.
Thanks Jacko83 for the vertical challenge cache and a fav point from us.

I was sitting on the couch when this was published and after a quick look at the terrain rating I had a fair idea of what would be required. None-the-less, I thought I'd zip over for a look. As I parked nearby I spotted LibzHat also spying out the landscape. She headed off for a school pick up and I wandered over for a look.
With the GPSr jumping back and forth I wandered around a little. Soon, another vehicle pulled up. I had company! GemChef, Lucyvee2 and insane_canine. Around we wandered until...ah hah!!! I spotted it!! Ok, but who was going to climb? Well, GemChef. Up she went, and up and up and up. Finally, she made it! Did I want my name on the log...um...well...no thanks! Think I should try it myself.
So, fast forward to today and with Geohubby (aka the climbing tool) in tow, I was back. I looked. He looked. He boosted, I climbed...to the first branch...I looked, I reached...but no, there was no way that was happening unless I grew quite a bit taller. Ok, time to use the climbing tool! I beat a less than elegant retreat and left him to it.
A quick jump, a bit of a hoick and he was off. Minutes later, the log was in hand and the formalities completed and Geohubby was once again at ground level. Phew! It was a bit breezy, but I'm reliably informed that the tree was stable and there were a minimum of scratches.
Done!
Thanks Jacko83 !

Arrived near GZ to see the last of the FTF group leave so i headed over to to GZ to make the ascent. the hardest part was to start the climb, once that was achieved i made my way to the cache weaving around the branches. while preoccupied geordiefamiy arrived on scene and as i was in position i did them a favor.
Thanks for a well earned Smiley Jacko83

Was still working and doing a school run when this one went off. Had a few things on so didn't think I'd make it there yesterday. An opportunity came up and it was taken. Luckily enough when geokid and I arrived we met up with Alchey who was already up there and did the honours for us. Tftc. Fave awarded.
!!!!!!!!!!!!JFTF!!!!!!!!!!!
With insane_canine and lucyvee42.
Was out having a day of caching and had just arrived at GZ of another cache when that delightful sound of an email notification came through. Noticed it was only 3km away so thought we would give it a tackle. We ran the couple hundred metres back to the car and off we went! Getting frustrated at traffic we finally arrived. Notice someone walking around the trees, turned out to be buckleysbabe. We joined her in the search for the cache. We figured out which tree it was but couldn't see it, then, voila! Wow, is it really all the way up there?
We nominated to send insane_canine up but he has a dodgy shoulder so looked like it was up to me to take the challenge. The first bit of the tree was the hardest, but once past that, it was the fear of the height that took its toll. The further up the more branches which was nice though. Eventually made it to the top and signed the log, woohoo! Thanks Jacko83 for this cache! Feel nice and accomplished now, definitely pushed myself! Will be giving this one a favourite point

JFTF with GemChef and lucyvee42!!!
Was out caching when the email alert let us know of this difficult cache being published, so we made a dash to the GZ. Sent GemChef on a climbing mission as a shoulder injury would mean that climbing myself is a bad idea, and while she was up there we were joined by a few other cachers keen for the FTF as well as a curious muggle. Logbook was signed and became GemChef's third FTF, and mine and lucyvee42's first! Thanks for the cache, can't wait to come and climb it myself one day!

I was at work when this one popped up and I wasn't going to bother with it but reading that it was a bit of a climb, I thought this might put a few off. So, when I knocked off, I headed off to try my luck. From a distance I saw that my chances of a FTF was gone as there was quite a group gathered at the base. Asking if I needed a pen and being advised yes, I popped one in my pocket and up I went. As always getting down was way harder than the climb. Enjoyed meeting a few of the other cachers. TFTC
Trees... Well they're better than a pile of rocks.
Seen this one come through right before school pick up and figured well there go my chances. So waited until MrsDarth came home with the mini stormtroopers and headed off then. Get to GZ with the party already started just as GemChef was coming back down. Took of my thongs (Aussie version) & started to put my socks and boots on just as Frog_Lady joined us and I decided to call in a favour from a previous and nearby tree climb.
Great to meet n greet some faces I haven't met before and had a good ol' chat about the usual things before making tracks back.
Thanks Jacko83 for the cache
