Found while fossicking around. Fascinating to see the rise and fall of goldfield towns. TFTC!
We are on a Bucket List Trek, from Busselton, in the South West corner of Australia, up to Cape York, Australia's most Northern land point, and return.
We are travelling through several iconic tracks, through the Gawler Ranges, the Oodnadatta Track, the Birdsville Track, the Bloomfield Track and the PDR Track to Cape York. Now returning home via Nhulunbuy, Wadeye, down through the middle to Uluru and across the Great Central Road back to WA, a little detour out here before arriving home.
As we meander across this awesome country, we stopped here to enjoy the scenery, check out the history and wonder what life was like here all those years ago.
Thanks to the CO's for adding to our journey as we headed to Cape York and back.

What a fascinating area, and to see barely any of it remain is quite impressive. Quick easy find. Signed TTM. TFTC.
Found during three weeks away with e.gregory1 on a trip along WA's Great Central Road and a caching circuit of the WA Goldfields. We travelled North on the Stuart Highway and out to Kings Canyon to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From there we headed in a south-westerly direction along the Great Central Road with a number of detours along the way, including Surveyor Generals Corner and Empress Spring. Then it was down to Laverton and Leonora before turning South to Menzies and Kalgoorlie. A few days were spent on a circuit back up to Lake Carey and around to Queen Victoria Spring before returning to Kalgoorlie, then out to Coolgardie, Kambalda and Norseman, and heading for home along the Eyre Highway. The WA Goldfields is a fascinating region of incredible scenery and history that we experienced over a number of days while touring the area. Thanks for the cache Probsty!
Found on another enjoyable trip with FeatherWaite over 3-weeks through South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. This time the plan was to head up to Kings Canyon, across to the WA border via Uluru and Kata-Tjuta, then down the Great Central Road, with a few side-trips along the way before eventually getting to the Goldfields and then home via Queen Victoria Springs and the Eyre Highway.
We had some mixed weather to start, with a few overnight showers initially, but mostly warm and sunny days. The nights were often cold though!
Thanks Probsty for the cache.

We took the RLT from Laverton along the Old Laverton Road to this interesting, sad place. TFTC Probsty
On my way to Perth via Broome with a few detours for LGAs. TFTC.
I think I have somehow managed to be on the wrong side of the town's authorized access.

Day 56 of our tour of the South West, Wheat Belt and Goldfields, and we find ourselves in Leonora. Today we are travelling the old Leonora Laverton road stopping at points of interest and geocaches along our route. Thanks Probsty.
On my way back to Leonora, the sun had just set, still enough light to find this cache.
Very few remains of this town
Thank you for hiding this geocache Probsty

Outnabout exploring while working. Difficult to imagine huge steam trains pulling in here. Thanks for taking us back.
A short stroll from the car and we soon had this one. Can't imagine what this town must've once been. TFTC
A long overdue road trip to Kalgoorlie for work meant I could pick up a few caches on the way. Headed off from home early to allow time for a few.
Found this in 2015 but a welfare check and all is still good here.

Taking the scenic route home from Laverton today. This was geo #2 for today. I can imagine this was once quite the bustling centre of a thriving community... things have certainly changed. I do enjoy the history lessons and of course finding the geo's. TFTC
After a DNF at the nearby cache I was glad this one was much easier.
This was find number 5 for the day.

I love the stone wall. I wish we saw more of these built these days. Great site. Beautiful day for caching. TFTC
Es ist schon ein komisches Gefühl, hier zu stehen, zwei Bahnsteige und sonst nichts.

Gotcha! Find #500 for us, and a great one to remember. Cache is in good condition. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Not sure if we are allowed to get here but I got there and found it
Had a trip out to The historic ghost town of Gwalia planned for some time now and with the wife keen to check out some of the ghost towns and various ruins throughout the goldfields it was sure to be a great trip.
We travelled to Kalgoorlie and then upto Gwalia where we stayed at Hoover House, which is the old mine managers house for the sons of gwalia mine and offered great views of the pit.
We took a day trip out to Laverton and Leinster with a small detour to grab a few caches along the great central road. After our detours from Leonora we dropped back into Kal and down to Esperance for the last night of our trip.
A great trip away and thanks for all the caches along the journey. Thank you to the COs for their caches.

Day seven of our 'wheatbelt loop' looking for wildflowers and picking up caches along the way.
Staying in Leonora two nights so decided to head out Laverton way taking the old highway to grab some caches. We were stunned to realise the size this town had been - great outlay of town at gz. Replaced the broken container (200 ml Sistema) but left original log book. Thanks Probsty

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 37. Today I continued west to Laverton. I visited Sandstone, Lenister & Leonora along the way.
I had to take a detour around a big puddle to get to this one, but it was interesting to see the old siding and was happy to be able to find this one.
Thanks.

Drove up to this area from Laverton today, as the road was too corrugated to tow our big rig. Interesting trip to say the least after two days of steady rain! Great views of the Mt Morgan’s mine from here too. The cache was quickly found and off to check out the nearby multi! TFTC
Found with stus*crew whilst putting flowers on the great great grandparents grave. Thanks for the cache ....
This trip through the Goldfields has been a while in the planning and the main mission was to collect caches in at least another 8 Local Government Areas to qualify for a challenge cache recently set up by megawatt60! I didn’t really have a plan on where I would be sleeping and was happy to throw the swag down once the daylight became in short supply. From Kalgoorlie I headed north as far as Leinster with a few deviations along the way. I then headed west through Mt Magnet and then meandered my way back towards Perth. I had GC and GCA caches lined up and tried to grab as many as I could while passing by. Cheers to all the CO’s for the hides and hopefully I can head back one day soon to clean up the caches I wasn’t able to find on this trip. TFTC

After spending 4 days in Alice springs it was time to drive back to Perth. Stopped to grab some caches along the way to break up the journey and stretch the legs. All caches were found and a big thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches for us and others to find.

Hard to believe that so many people once lived here and disappointing that the Leonora to Laverton Railway has been lifted. No doubt it will be rebuilt one day! TFTC
4842 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1100. Team Pathfinder had mentioned this series of caches to us as we came along the GCR over a few days. We arrived in Leonora yesterday and decided to go and do a little exploring. Really had a fun time looking through the museum and surrounds here. This by the look at the town layout was a busy rail siding. SL Tnx Probsty
Found at 11:55 AM GAFF1 in the company of Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder..
Surprising to see how large the town was from the site map. So interesting to see how towns grow and die based on mineral mining.
Thanks Probsty.

Wow..... Things must have been really pumping out here in the old days to have a station that wide. I looked around and tried to imagine the place full of shantys and houses, it was made slightly easier by the old restored building nearby which looked more like something out of a movie set as it seemed so out of place out here pretty much on its own.
thanks Probsty
thanks Probsty
After the DNF on the multi nearby, I was determined to get a find here.
Parked near GZ and soon found the cache.
I broke the golden rule...I took something but didn't drop anything. I love the outback way sticker and had to take it.

All the way out to Mt Morgan for this cache. Another piece of Australian History. It would of been a big town in its hey days.
Thanks so much for the cache
