Wandering the east and caching with Jack and Purrfect Di. Day four of the road trip. Swelling from day two's wasps still there. Much icing and high country cold air and mountain stream waters helps... (apparently it was 45 degrees plus back home today... 12 here!) Got lost in the mountains a while - found your cache - then down to the seaside in the evening. All in all a nice stroll. So true... there is always hope. Great views from up here too! A fav for a good hide worth finding Thank you The GeoPrincess for this cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! Viva Mexicana ! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finds
A great find on mount hope today. Ammo can was in good condition and good swaps too. TFTC TheGeoPrincess

we are enjoying the alps
we do not yet feel at home in the mountains, but we are slowly acclimatising
for us, altitude sickness may be good or bad
we are enjoying off-track walking in these mountains
at least, when the bush is like this
the grasses are so neat and tidy they must have been mown and manicured
we have seen wilder front lawns in inner-city melbourne
the other plus: no undergrowth to speak of
and the snow gums are spread wide on the hillside, with thoroughfares between them
we are sure that there is plenty of tough going elsewhere
but
we are grateful for the easy going here
good stuff

A relatively easy find but 10m from the cache I came across a snake! All good and some terrific views from Mt Hope.
Brad&Janet are on a journey to the Victorian High Country for the second time in two years. This time was are dragging the house on two wheels aka the camper trailer.
We are doing some exploration on our own as well as a seven day guided tour through some of the more remote and tricky areas of the Victorian High Country and the Alpine National Park. This trip has been from Corryong and winds its way through to finish in Mansfield.
Overnight stops have been
Tom Groggin
Nunninong Plains
Dargo High Plains
Wonnogatta x 2
Lovicks Hut (tonight)
There has been some serious 4WDing on some pretty gnarly (for us) tracks. When we get hgome we will need to replace two tyres, repair/replace our camper trailer jockey wheel, and respool our winch. Heaps of fun has been had.
We found a few caches and we even hid a couple along the way. Of course it is always challenging to find caches when you are traveling with a group of non-cachers on a tight time line.
We having been looking forward to this trip for some time.

The heights of Hotham, to the depths of the Ovens at Bright - it was all downhill for us today!!
This one took longer than it should have, perhaps we were distracted by the wild beauty of the alpine scenery!
Satellites today had our GZ 8 metres west of where we found the cache.
Thanks The GeoPrincess for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Yay, 1st find for 21! Great spot, great views! Found on a day trip to maintain a couple of mine - Damm Hut and Eric's Hut.... TFTC
Whilst our daughters partner was sharing his love of the mountains with us, we were able to share our love of geocaching. After a pleasant walk to Gz an easy find. Happy smiles all around. Dropped a Tb.
Found at 2.45pm An enjoyable wander along the ridge to this one, With no traffic on the road you can feel a million miles away, Stunning views, especially of the opposite SE slopes which escaped the flames. Nice one. TNLN Thanks

I can't believe this cache has been here for so long and it's in top condition, credit to the owner for maintenance. Quick hike up the hill and a happy snap for the archives and also a look back at where I was floundering in the bush looking for Damm Hut cache! TFTC!
Was down in Victoria high country clocking up some K’s on my new bike and stopped here. It wasn’t an intentional grab but a cache is a cache. What a marvelous view. TFTC - Docadoo
Cache found quickly and in good condition.
Over a year since this bad boy had a visit. I was glad of the overcast day as it wasn't too hot up here. I didn't realise it hadn't been found in over a year till I was halfway there. A pretty nice walk up and cache found waiting patiently.
Signed and replaced. Took some pics.
Thanks for the cache.

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all.
I’m currently working on a Project-GC challenge to get the average word count on my logs over 200 words.
So please ignore the rest of this log as it is just nonsense and song lyrics.
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

We have been slowly making our way from Queensland down to Victoria to attend the Alexandra Mega Event and finding a few caches along the way. We decided to stay for a few days in Dinner Plains but ending up taking some time to explore a little further afield at Mt Buffalo We went for a few short walks and checked out some places for future reference should we be lucky enough to find ourselves out this way again
We stopped by here as we made our way back up the mountain range toward Dinner Plain. The GPSr didn't seem to want to settle but eventually we located the cache and with our name added to the logbook, we continued on our way
Thank you The GeoPrincess for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Thanx! Hot enough cycling up here! And then to trundle up through dense undergrowth to finally easier going. Great views. After 40+ years I now know where Mt Hope is
Today was a great day to go caching - blue skies, no clouds, not too hot, and a nice cool breeze. All today's caches were up around Mt Hotham and apart from 2, all terrains were between 3 and 4 inclusive. Even though I've completed the "Spread the Love Challenge", today's haul would have gained 113 months of unloved caches.
It was an enjoyable walk to GZ, not as hard as I thought it would be. Once at GZ, I had a quick look and there it was. Great co-ordinates. My thanks to The GeoPrincess for the cache.

Mother and Father dragon are on their way home from a pleasant time spent North of the dividing range. They see a lookout and decide to stop late in the afternoon. What's that, a nearby cache. Out of geo-nellie and away. Only a short walk and a very few metres to climb. As they ascend toward the not too distant summit, a panorama opens around them. What a view! Mount Feathertop rises above them to the North, and the jagged ramparts of Mount Buffalo on the Western horizon are lit by the sun filtering through the few evening clouds. The heights of the Diamintina end of the razorback form the Eastern horizon, while the Gippsland ranges are spread out to the South.
Mother dragon is driving the GPSr and, looking around where it indicates the prize to be, soon finds the well hidden and protected cache. She is most surprised, upon reading the log contained therein, to find how few people visit this beautiful spot. What a pity. The view is quite wonderful, specially as the sun sinks slowly toward the horizon and the light subtly changes from daylight white to evening yellows and oranges.
Mother dragon signs the log and carefully replaces the cache in its hideout.
Mother and Father dragon look wistfully around once more and stroll back down the hill to the waiting vehicle to again join the ant like progress of the poor metal clad souls in their mundane travels on the bitumen. Unlike those travellers, Mother and Father dragon are enlivened by the tests and thrills of geocaching, and their souls are refreshed by the wonders of nature.

When we left Omeo this morning there was heavy cloud and we thought that we might be in for a wet today. However as we got past the 1100m mark the cloud cleared and we were in brilliant sunshine, ideal conditions for a visit to Mt Hotham. After parking the car, we headed off through light alpine bush with many sticks and broken branches on the ground. Progress was a little tedious at times. Then after about 80m we came to open grassed area which made for easy walking to GZ. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks The GeoPrincess for this cache in a scenic location.
We decided today was the day to take the new wheels for a test drive. After stopping at bright we decided to move on to Harrietville and then continued up to Mt. Hotham.
Once up here we found a nice little car park where we could take some photos of the new ride, luckily i decided to check if there were any nearby caches before leaving.
We enjoyed the walk to this one and the views along the way were awesome.

Stopped for the view on the way through to dinner plain. Couldn't resist the short walk to the cache and another view of the sunset. Man, it gets cold quickly!

Mt Hope was very good to us today - a nice gentle walk along the Ridge. We sure are getting our exercise today, but what a way to do it. Wonderful vistas, gorgeous bushland and an ammo can or two to find - a perfect day out. SL at 1.49pm Took: coloured pencils Left: badge and Roman figure. Took photo of the new growth at the bottom of a scarred and burnt gum tree - always hope after disaster. #2708 TFTC The GeoPrincess. Highest point here was 1596mtrs , so still some climbing to do before we get to 1700mtrs. Onward to Mt Hotham!

heading up to hotham for some cool air and to escape the masses. lovely stroll to the cache. gr8 views, love this area. tftc geoprincess.
Find 1356 at 15:23. I was out caching with heardrwt on a day trip from Bright to Mount Hotham (mainly to escape the heat) and we managed to collect 7 caches on this run. This was our second find for the day.
We parked at the suggested spot and took the short walk up the ridge. This is a great spot and I love the paintjob on the ammo can. Thanks for the cache, The GeoPrincess!

A nice gentle stroll, smell of the fresh mountain air and the feeling of an ammo can hidden in the high-country. What could be better?

Of course there's always hope. Well most times at least. This was a nice and easy stroll from the car-park and we got a view! I'm just hoping there isn't a UV clue somewhere ...
Thanks and cheers

On the day after co-hosting The Hotham Gamble event with skullracing, I set out solo to grab the last three of the most recently placed caches in the vicinity. Parked the car and sauntered to GZ. Another terrific view from a position I've driven past two hundred times but never thought to stop. Another joy only from geocaching! Thanks again!

Find #4228
{FTF}
I had been looking forward to the Hotham Gamble Event weekend for some time, so had done quite a bit of planning the caches I wanted to find while here. My main focus was to qualify for The Victorian 1700m+ ASL Challenge, but make sure I had at least ten above 1800m, the way the challenge was originally intended .
I was close to Harrietville when I recieved some notifications of new caches nearby. This did put a small spanner in the plans, but changes can always be made. Bonus, I decided to try for the FTF as I was passing by!! By the time I got close to the car park, I was completely clouded in. I could see just 10 metres in front of me. Out of the car I got and followed my GPSr all the way to GZ where after a short search, the cache was in hand. The heart was pumping as the container was opened and.... Bingo, a FTF for me.
Swapped a pathtag.
A favourite point for the FTF and for the High Country location.
Thanks to The GeoPrincess for placing this cache.
