Today was another stunningly hot day. We decided rather than go for big numbers, we'd aim to get some of the 'target' caches we wanted for our jasmer grids, the old school caching challenge, a wherigo for anotherchallenge, and any other older caches we came across. We had thought we could park up pretty close to this one, but somehow ended up going up the wrong side, and came across a road closed sign/gate about 5ks still to go.After a bit of a debate over our options, we opted to get the bikes out and continue with our mission by peddle power. It was hard going, especially with it being such a sunny day, but such a great morning spent enjoying the area. Finally back at the van, but I managed to persuade the legs to go for one more. It would have been wrong not to as it was so close to where we were parked. Thanks for putting this here
Rattll and I are on our way south to Dunedin for GeoToroa. But first, a few days caching around Canterbury and Christchurch, targeting a few oldies and unusuals. Today we started early in the Port Hills, but the best laid plans of mice and men... Suffice to say that we were constantly reassessing our priorities today, and changing our plans to suit. Many blue words were said (mainly by me), but, parked up by Lake Ellesmere, just out of Leeston, tonight, we both agreed that we were happy with what we've achieved today. Picked up our target caches, plus a couple of unexpected pearlers, and a decent tally for the day.We intended to come along the Summit Road to our target caches, not realising that parts of it are still closed. So, at the first gate, no option (or so we thought) but to get out the bikes and cycle the remaining 5 km (straight line) to our target cache, GC5174 Canada Connection. After finding our lack of fitness more debilitating than previously believed, we were gutted to find that the other end was open, and that we could have just driven around. C'est la vie. But we found quite a few oldies along the way that we wouldn't have otherwise. Our final cache in this string, having arrived back at the van. Dashed up here to make the find. All good, signed and returned as found. Tftc!
Found after a little bit of scrambling around, on the way up to the top of the hill. A steep wee one, this!
Next target on my not-quite-park-and-grab list along summit Rd. Map shows gc to be just before the fork in the track, however it is just after. Tentatively took the KitKat (don't put food in caches y'all) and left keyring.
A quick amble on the Port Hills - a lovely day and it was great to see a lot of people in this delightful spot. Thanks for this cache, TwoSharpe.
We headed up again along the cycle track. It was a quick find then we headed back down to the road for an easier walk. TFTC
Just where I would have hidden it. An ideal spot to watch the rock climbers above in action; TFTC
I took the description a bit too literally, Once I widened my search area I found it quickly. Log is full I signed on the Back amongst The other words.
Yay! Thanks for bringing me here TwoSharpe! I've walked up from Mt Vernon Farm Park and love the views from here. Nice hide - you had me looking for a bit!
We were passing on the way up Witch Hill... wasted a log of time searching..
. last time we ignored this cache, wish we had ignored it this time as well.

I have been to top of Rapaki a couple of times, I have also been to Witch Hill, so surprising that I hadn't attemted this cache!
Today was the day, walking right past it! Still there and not a hard find. Hint checks out.
I have now found more than 2/3 of the currently active Iron Maiden caches. Rock on!
Kia ora! Paldies!

Had good look around without success. Wonder if it has gone after few months with no finding it
Geocaching around Christchurch with woolwood9.
We soon had the container found. SL: **tm/ww NZ**
*Thanks for putting this out for us to visit, we enjoyed the drive / walk around!*
Took a few minutes searching around but co-ords pretty good.

A quick find after riding my bike up from home. Went as fast as I could, which is pretty slow, to bet the forecast rain.
Came up here for a drive.. I'll take this as I go by though. Hurt my ankle, so I decided not to go for the one nearby... I'll be back for that. Cloudy day today, but a few people were around walking and cycling. Quickly located!
TFTC TwoSharpe, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 1 today, making this find #2987

Amazing views from up here...a beautiful area. GZ a good find. Thanks for the hide.
Enjoying the weekend in CHCH to attend the beer festival. Some geocaches collect being in town. TFTC
Beautiful sunset evening stroll to clear my head turned into an exciting adventure ️️
Found on our walk up Witch Hill. Not a quick find for us but found after widening search area a bit. Nice spot, tftc!
I'm sure I've looked for this one once before and failed. Today was a lovely day and a quick find. Tftc.
Not a bad spot at all! Got to watch some impressive rock climbers testing their mettle
Out on a lovely afternoon for a walk in the hills. We were on our way to another cache and I spotted this on the map. We happily stopped and signed the log and then caught up with our friends. Thanks for this cache TwoSharpe.
We joined the mega herd wandering about the hills this morning, and managed to grab this
one, which was well sited to give the impression of stopping for a rest.
Cheers and thanks,

I walked through here recently but was with a muggle friend and we didn't stop, this time I came to fill in the gaps, TFTC!
Visiting Christchurch as a cheap way to get to Blenheim for our son's tech course graduation as part of his RNZAF training. The weather wasn't the best when we first went up into the Port Hills last Tuesday before spending a couple of days in Blenheim but today, before flying back home tomorrow, the weather is much better for doing a bit of caching.
We had hoped to drive the length of the Summit Road but found that it was closed to vehicle traffic at this point. While enjoying the view we decided to get a couple of the close-by caches before turning around and heading towards the west. This one took a little while to locate and we needed to explain about geocaching to a group of muggles out for a Sunday walk.

A sunny winters day meant the area was filled with people enjoying the good weather but we managed to find a gap in the muggles to make the find.
Out for a ride. Started by the Heathcote up Huntsbury round the top and down Rapaki. Stunning clear sky

A nice day to walk a bit in the port hills. The army was doing some exercise close by, but no issues grabbing the cache. TFTC
Was strolling up to this one when I noticed a couple of guys who looked suspiciously like geocachers. Yes, they were! A couple of Wellingtonians out enjoying a walk on the Port Hills. Nice to meet you two. Thanks for the cache, CO. Good to see a few climbers out on Rapaki too.

Took the opportunity to enjoy a sunny, fine and relatively warm autumn afternoon in the Port Hills. Walked from the 'road end/road closed' carpark at Rapaki to Mt Pleasant and back - around 13 kms, finding geocaches as we went. This was one of those.
A straightforward find, sort of. Cache in order; log signed, then cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
I visited here with team geocacher zboy wonder and encountered a Chc-based geocacher with whom we exchanged caching news and views. Very cordial, then forgot to harvest the cacher's handle - but which I now learn to be Jude E. Good one. Always a pleasure to meet other friendly geocachers in the field.

#15175. We took advantage of a sunny afternoon that was a pleasant temperature to go for a stroll in the hills. Not much strolling needed to get from the car to GZ. Took us a while to locate this one, and I was pleased when Troodles tracked it down. TFTC.
We had been a bit quiet on the geocaching front lately (apart from a few events) so time to dust of the walking poles and shoes, and head for the hills. There was a cool breeze blowing, but during most of our walk we were sheltered from it and got quite warm.
This was the first cache we looked for, just a short walk from where we had parked the car. Not a quick find, as there were lots of possible hiding places, but one log prompted us to look a little further afield. I soon spotted a suss rock and the cache was soon in hand. Phew, as I wasn't too keen on lingering long under the unstable looking Rapaki Rock. Thanks for another in the series.

Good hide , found on our way back down the track to the car park with campmotherandken TFTC

What a great day out! I decided to take advantage of nice weather, and the family being away, to have a great day out walking in the Port Hills, and of course, caching. All in all, 17 finds, from lots of COs, only one DNF, and some spectacular views. I walked about 16km (24,000 steps) in all, with lots of elevation change, sheep, sun, and fun.
Happy to make another find in this series!

We Found It after many minuts of looking we found it! Clue: in line with the sign! Well done sports academy!
After reading the founds, today was THE day to go back and look until found, and found it was! Nice and peaceful up there. TFTC
I took a long search because of the wrong GPS coordinates. The Cache was over 7m away of the coordinates and there are a lot of rocks

Earlier this afternoon I spotted the new logs in this cache and being such a cracker day I decided to go up for another look. Even with a bit of help it still took me an embarrassingly long time to track it down... eventually I just shoved my hand into a random spot and managed to pull it out! Sat and watched the world go by for a while after signing the log. Sight-seeers, walkers, cyclists and rockclimbers all out enjoying it... now to head home and get ready for a night shift... =/ GLB1719 TFTC (3922)
Look, there it is. I pointed the general location out to the kids and set them to it. Ten minutes later, no luck. Working a wee bit back to the car park, there looked a likely spot and tada, there it was. See kids, the old man still knows a few tricks. Cheers, onwards to Witch's Hill
Checked today after the DNFs. It is definitely still there as placed, a couple metres uphill from trail
