This cache was incredible and all ten of us loved it, except for the ones who dont like snakes. We were all amazed when the cache was located, and by far was our favourite letterbox cache. Swaps and extra swag was added, and the log was signed and we were on our way. The cache was a few meters more than thirteen true north. Replace exactly how you found it as it would be impossible to find if it is not replaced exactly the same way. TFTEC skullracing#101

Lots more vegetation on the summit than I had anticipated, so striding out 13m was only guesswork. Got it, love an ammo tin container, thanks for lugging it up there.

I wasted quite a bit of time here today. I thought I had done my projection at home, and thoroughly searched the stone cairn before resorting to reading previous logs.
Aha! Now to start a new search. After much stumbling around, I eventually closed in on it and found it waiting patiently to be found.
I felt a strong need to succeed here as I share the same name as the mountain. The weather was perfect with a cooling breeze to make the hike most enjoyable.
Thanks for the fun skullracing.

I absolutely love these alpine caches. The weather was fantastic, even with the -5 windchill. Thanks for putting this here as a reason to walk some of these stunning tracks. The cache was brilliant. TFTC

This was one of those caches that we always put off because we'll "always be passing through another time". Well today, we had no excuse because while staying at the wang ski club, we were literally across the road. Anyway while everyone was just hanging around, me and the sister decided we would just go and find it. We followed the track up and fortunately the snow wasn't too deep so it didn't slow us up a heap. Anyway we made it up to the sign and then GZ which I had projected previously online. It was getting pretty dark and the blanket of snow wasn't helping the search. After about 15mins we were getting ready to pull the pin, as we were now just using the head torch to see. But I decided to have one last look and manually step out the projection using the phone compass. That proved to be a wise move as 12ish metres later I was peering into a gap in which I found the cache.
I quickly signed the log book and returned the cache. And then quickly got back down before it got too dark.
TFTC skullracing and for taking us to this spot.

After hiking all the way up here I read the description but missed the part about projecting a waypoint. Then I re-read it on the phone and realised my error. However with such a short projection and the amount of hiding spaces the error margin must be huge. I searched for about 20 minutes and after cutting my legs to ribbons on the scrub gave it up.

Slowly making our way back down the mountain to our camp at Harrietville after an enjoyable day of mountain bike riding (some of us BMX riding #DadDrewTheShortStraw) along the Machinery Spur. We were also going to try a bit of hiking on the Razorback Track today where this CO has at least two caches that were in our sights ...but it turns out I packed a little too much in our day ...so we will just have to come back!

There was time for one more before we called it a day so I pulled up at the Ski Club for a walk up to Mount Smythe at ~6.45pm. We actually passed the lady hiker from Omeo (see [my log for Derrick Hut](https://coord.info/GL10K2JYZ)) as we pulled up. She was walking along the highway downhill until her support crew arrived. She asked where I was going and declared I had the better deal - she was right! It was a nice way to end the day with some more great views to enjoy. I could see our car from GZ (pic below). The cache is well hidden and full of amazing SWAG. We stamped yours in ours and ours in yours, visited some of our TBs, and then re-hid as found. Didn't pick up any unloved *here* but all up today we added 3,156 days (8 years, 7 months) to our tally. TFTLBH, skullracing. Looking forward to coming back sometime to do more of your caches.

Celebrating the 1st birthday of the last found here Smile - Today we continued our travel and came to this place. Why not climb this little mountain in the morning? - So we did, read the interpretive board on top and continued to this letterbox. It's still there and in perfect conditions... - Thanks for the letterbox!

After spying Mt Smythe for 30+ years here I am finally! Splendid day splendid views. Took a wee longer with one set of eyes and no compass and could we trust one given the magnetic phonolite rock of this plug. An old friend long passed away mentioned aboriginal cave shelters in those rocks below. Will leave for another day TFTC and lure up here!

Today was a great day to go caching - blue skies, no clouds, not too hot, and a nice cool breeze. All today's caches were up around Mt Hotham and apart from 2, all terrains were between 3 and 4 inclusive. Even though I've completed the "Spread the Love Challenge", today's haul would have gained 113 months of unloved caches.

I enjoyed the walk to the cairn, then projected to GZ where the cache was found very quickly. Some more great views from up there. Thanks again to skullracing for the cache.

#2706 A letterbox cache way up here, what lucky folks we are! We wouldn't like to be the postie having to climb this incline to deliver the mail each time tho'! It was indeed a walk to get rid of some of our lazy summer flab - too many Christmas goodies and lots of driving in NZ. Now it is back to some good old fashioned exercise in our wonderful Australian bush. Did our compass projections at the Rock cairn and headed for GZ. SL at 12.18pm Exchanged stamps in log books. Took: skateboard - too dangerous for skateboarding here! Left: compass and black gumnut PT. Took a couple of photos and made our way back down to the geoCruiser TFTC Skullracing and the exercise.

OK I admit, I thought I was clever. I read the cache page today (see previous log on another one of the CO nearby caches recently) and as I approached I realized my two comrades had not. I left them to search in the incorrect location whilst I estimated the projection. Still it took me quite a bit of time sniffing and hunting around likely objects before it dawned on them why I was hunting 13ms away from GZ. As they finally made it over I spied the object we desired. I was close enough to touch it but on the wrong side of the rock to grab it. Pointing out to ahomburg where it was he was able to retrieve it for us nicely. Thanks once again skullracing!

Find #4243

After a massive 30km of high country hiking yesterday, today was a day for some easier caches around Hotham and surroundings with much shorter walks to get to the caches. I joined up with Day1976 and º for a great day of caching.

Last cache before a bit of a break for lunch. This was all going well until the last little bit where the saplings and small trees got closer together. It was Day who read the instructions properly and was searching in the right spot. He spotted it but couldn't reach it. I grabbed it and passed it on to Philipp to sign the log book.

A favourite point for the High Country location.

Thanks to skullracing for placing this cache. TNLN

Should we take the machete? Nah! We'll be fine. Normally this sequence of words has the great potential of unleashing extremely pear-shaped situations. This time the bush-bash wasn't too bad and in the end it wouldn't have helped anyway! The dead saplings aren't exactly chopping-material. What actually would have helped me, was reading the cache description. Funny that! In the end it was Day who located the cache, Adriaan who retrieved it and I was just sitting on the rock doing the secretary job: Signing the log and handing back the cache.

Thanks and cheers Wink
Philipp

Find #1342 logged at GZ at 13:56, will update shortly.... T4TC skullracing!

On the day after co-hosting The Hotham Gamble event with skullracing, I set out solo to grab the last three of the most recently placed caches in the vicinity. I had just started uphill when 3 familiar faces appeared over the knoll. "It's just over around the corner," said Day. Hah! I'll say no more except that I spent longer here than I planned. Very well hidden, but the instructions are spot on.

[white]{*2tf*}......[/white] @6:03 pm Cache # 1168

[blue]Never fail to amuse these odd cache types[/blue]

Just reached the sealed road and noticed this new cache with no finds not far from the Dargo Road which I had just traveled up on my way to the Hotham gamble event. But instead of going for a ftf I had one other must do cache I was going to get above all others this weekend "Low Twin"

So after a successful find and cache placement on the Twins I still had time for one more before heading to the event. Parked on the grass verge on the side of the road and made my way up to the summit enjoying the views along the way

Once at the summit cairn I thought I might just use the compass on the phone a pace out the distance, this method worked a treat today as I spotted a likely hide and found the cache straight off the bat
After a little bit of trouble trying to operate the stamp the log was eventually signed cache replaced and off to the event

Must of been a little excited to get to the event that I took a slightly different route to the one I took coming up. Lets just say it was an interesting experience that didn't save me any time
Thx Scull Racing for a fantastic sized well stocked cache, and the fantastic Weekend

[blue]Merci beaucoup

Cheers Big Grin

Found at 4:47 PM GAFF1. When we saw "Roadside Mailbox" we thought - beauty - it's just going to be on the side of the road. However we soon found out otherwise Sad The middle bit was not too bad, but the last 60 metres or so was quite dense with charred timber and there was no real discernable track. Found the cairn and then did the projection (and thank goodness you mentioned that it was True - not many do Twisted) and went straight over to GZ and where the cache was eventually found, but we didn't find it! This was a really well hidden cache we thought and we went round and round for quite a while until we attacked that first spot with gusto and got down and dirty Sad Finally! We triumphed. Then back through the charred jungle; looking at the scenery from time to time and back to the chalet for a few nice wines [^]
Thanks skullracing.
