19-Feb-24
Such a windy day! We decided to trek in forest so we chose Main Ridge Track starting from Lowry Bay and ending to York Bay. We liked especially that main track. TFTC!

06-Feb-24
Little detour down to this one today. As mentioned previously, container unfortunately has a crack in it. Log damp but writable. Sneaky!! Many thanks

24-Jan-24
Logbook wet but just signable. Tftc

09-Aug-23
Nice straightforward find. TFTC

09-Aug-23
Found on a cool sunny day walking between Pukeatea and Days Bay. Beautiful spot. TFTC

12-Jul-23
My second find as I work my way from Days Bay to the other side of the hill, on a quest for the local oldie.
The container is cracked and full of water. However the log is completely dry!

26-Feb-23
Came down, and now heading back up. Quick find at GZ, cheers

28-Sep-22
Found it the easy way by coming down, now to get back up. Segments of beautifully framed views through here as well. Tftc!

14-Jan-22
Slog up the hill, slog along the ridge, not a cache to break the monotony- the view eluded us with only occasional blue patches revealing themselves through gaps in the canopy, both above and below us. Breaking through the forest ceiling for just a moment gave us somewhat unrestricted views of the star of today, the view. Cache also served as excellent rest stop. TFTC

04-Jan-22
Found on a very warm day during my walk along the Main Ridge Track as far as the Ferry Track down to Days Bay I've been meaning for a long time to pick up caches on this route
The log is totally soaked through so I left a small scrap of waterproof paper as a temporary fix
Thanks Zboy wonder

01-Aug-21
Doing a few caches on the ridge track today, so nabbed this one while passing.
This one was pretty wet but signable.
TFTC

12-Jan-21
Water logged

10-Jan-21
Log too wet to sign so have provided a photo. Tftc.

10-Jan-21
Out with TharntheHalken, getting some caches in East Harbour. Bit of a hunt through multiple hint objects, T finally spotted it. Log too wet to sign, T took photo. Tftc!

21-Nov-20
Seriously? Sneak peek? The trees must have been lower then! Check my photos.

I have a free weekend!! What should I do? Okay, I am working on a streak and puzzle cache dot days and a puzzle streak, but once I have a puzzle cache... decided to head into the hills above Wainuiomata. Following some bait trails - old hunter trails. Sometimes the track was overgrown, sometimes big trees had fallen on it, a number of times I simply lost the track and just bush bashed my way to somewhere, expecting to pick it up again. Took about 8 hours to do the figure 8 without the tail. A could have done the tail... Oh well. Another time.
Loved the track, loved that the caches were a decent size, and that most were actually dry. I have dropped a number of favourites and even more pathtags.
Thanks for an awesome day!

15-Aug-20
A good opportunity on a beautiful winter day to sneak out for the afternoon and grab a few caches in the hills.
A nice quick find (good hint).

28-Dec-19
A quick find thanks to marginal GPS and nice helpful clue. A bit damp at the bottom of the container, tried to let log dry a bit while I had some water but will likely need more TLC in future. Now off to Aces High, thanks for another smiley Smile

28-Apr-19
As this wasn't far from the first part of the "aces high" multi we shot up a bit further and a quick find thanks to the hint despite our GPS showing 10 metres to go.

05-Jan-19
another quick find today after small detour from the ridge track

23-Nov-18
Grabbed this one after a considerably steep climb…Trese spotted it while Erik was searching along what looked like a short geo-trail…TFTC(ardio)!

29-Jul-18
Quick find coming from up from the wainuiomata side. Good views bit higher up great weather. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.

22-Apr-18
In Wellington delivering Zara to my Father-in-law. Extra time to catch up with family and friends included. A day to myself today so I'm heading to Wainuiomata for a walk.
A sneak down this track to snag and tag this one. No w view from here. Cheers

06-Feb-18
Nice one for Quinn. Cheers

30-Jan-18
Passing here on another trip to check the rat monitoring lines near Mt Lowry.
Quick find after a 1 hour hike up via Ferry Rd.
Didn't have time to chase the new caches just east so will have to come back - probably when it's not so hot!
TFTC

02-Jan-18
We summoned the energy to carry on along the track and then the short scramble down to find this one. Cache nice and dry, although the logbook is partly falling apart. Glad to have all the caches up here (for now!) ticked off as it is quite a tough walk. TFTC

27-Dec-17
Since I was walking along the ridge I was a bit relucant to divert to this cache because I thought I might have to do a long climb back up here (judging by how the descent looked from the junction). However the track flattened out after a short descent and was a nice easy stroll to this cache - and a quick easy return to the ridge. I found the cache almost by accident by feeling around the area of interest. I might not have spotted it visually because it was blending in pretty well. TFTC.

26-Dec-16
Was so close I decided to take a slight detour and grab this one while I was in the area. *TFTC zboy wonder, #9409*

11-Dec-16
Found while on a caching expedition with Drawp. TFTC

11-Dec-16
Got there after the GPS settled down, TFTC

24-Nov-16
Detoured off Ridgeline Track for this one. Found coords and hint to be more of a guideline TFTC zboy wonder.

06-Nov-16
My turn around point today. Accurate coordinates and only one place matched the hint - otherwise it could have taken a lot longer than it did! TFTC

05-Nov-16
We took a little detour down for the cache, great views! Wish we had brought the good camera with us, not just the phone, as this is worth capturing. Checked a few options at GZ before coming up with the cache. Tftc

30-Oct-16
Found on my way from Wainuiomata to Eastbourne. Feels like winter again today! Nice, easy find

30-Oct-16
After making it to the top from the Rata Ridge Track I headed down to the lookout and then down to this one to attempt to clear the caches from around the summit. The tramping party that passed by me on the way up were having lunch so I passed on by. The track down was steeper than I was expecting and this helped me make the decision to save the caches on the Wainui Lookout track for another time. A little confusion at GZ with the GPS but then I spotted the cache a little exposed. Signed the log and replaced hopefully a little bit more in cover, but it would seem to be not for long as one of the members of the tramping club asked if I was geocaching when I was heading back up (and the whole party was heading down). TFTC

19-Apr-16
Left dad at the lookout while I whipped down for this one. Straight forward find, nice views of the harbor through the bush. Awesome! Smile tftc

29-Jan-16
I decided I'd take a walk along the ridge track this afternoon. Started at the top of the Wainui Hill and went as far as the Ferry rd track turn off. I detoured down to here and then back up again. I had intended to go a bit further but had run out of time. A nice quick find here.

18-Jan-16
#1668. Having walked up to the summit of Mt Lowry with the girls we decided to pick up this cache on the way back. There is a bit of a downhill section before it flattens out. The cache coordinates were very accurate so it made finding the cache for us quite easy today. Signed the dry logbook and returned the cache as found. It would be good to walk out on this track some stage but with the car parked in Wainuiomata we had to back track up and along the ridge. Thanks for the cache.

07-Jan-16
Find #2515. After two days of cycle caching, today was all about Shank's Pony and a bit of a work out on the East Harbour Hills. Came up from York Bay, heading back to Lowry, a round trip of approx 10km. Walked right past this one before checking and had to back track by 80m and downhill!! Tricky little hide but the red edge to the top gave it away in the end. SL TFTC.

19-Dec-15
Came here by way of Puriri Track and the main ridge, visiting Duck, Duck, Goose on the way, then Francis Bell Reserve 1 and Main Ridge Track. But this one was my favourite! I gave it a fave point.
Love the walking in this area. Made that much more enjoyable by a warm sunny and calm Saturday afternoon.
Cache find was straightforward.
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

25-Oct-15
GPS brought me spot on GZ. After that it was an easy find. Number 2 of 6 geocaches found that day. TFTC

16-Oct-15
Finally found this one - have looked a few times. Replaced where I found it, putting it strictly at hint location would make it too visible. TFTC Smile

12-Jul-15
Bit of a steep downhill after this one. Found after a bit of searching before heading further along the ridge. TFTC

20-Jun-15
Found the cache after a couple minutes searching, hint isn't completely accurate but replaced where it was found as it seemed quite secure there. Hint should say "Base" not "Middle". TFTC

20-Jun-15
Cache all safe and sound! TFTC Smile

12-Apr-15
Found on a lovely walk with some friends. TFTC

07-Mar-15
#6301. Made a trip to the East Harbour Regional Park this morning before the rain came. Good walk up Lees Grove Track and Rata Ridge Track onto the Main Ridge Track. Not too many folks on the tracks today. GZ itself was all quiet when we visited, and together with good coordinates, that made for a relatively quick find. Cache was well hidden and in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.

01-Mar-15
No joy on this one today. We looked all over the place but GPS was wandering too much and there were far too many hint objects. May come back this way for another look one day.

01-Mar-15
No luck with this one today. Maybe one day will be back for this one.

15-Jan-15
I had already had more than a sneak peek of the harbour by approaching from the Lees Grove Track. I was a bit nervous when I read about the size of the container and that it was well hidden - it's not much fun getting to a location like this to end up leaving having not found the cache. However, the hint was helpful and I reckon the level of hiddenness was about right. I was surprised not to see anybody else on my travels this evening and a word on the lookout sign - tranquil - described the setting beautifully.

13-Jan-15
The second objective of Today's mission. Managed to clock up 2.59km towards the distance component of the DGSC that I'm very slowly working on by coming at this one along the ridgeline walkway from the Wainui lookout. TFTC - honesty compels me to state that the Simonster got to it first.

13-Dec-14
I was caching over this way yesterday but ran out of time and the bad weather hit before I could make the trip up to this one. Returned this morning in good weather, a pleasant walk up the hill from Lees Grove via the "Beeched" cache and found this one at the first place checked. As promised, an excellent view. Signed log, TFTC!
