Loved everything about this cache! The puzzle had me stumped for a while a coupll poo e of weeks back, but then realised I was familiar with the subject of the second part of the puzzle and it soon came out with one error but enough of the right letters to realise what we were after. GZ was attempted after a number of other solved caches in the areakeep an eye out for a large family of owls nesting nearby and an incredible suspended nest for another bird which is very close to GZ. A good 15 minutes clambering around here before I spotted the cleverly hidden cache. A big favourite from me, this ticks all the boxes.

The Rats and I teamed up for quite an afternoon in and around the bushland east of Heathcote Road to Menai and had a whole number of finds to make as we went up, down, around over and through at times.

This was one of the easier actual finds- we made our way from another nearby cache- still some waratahs out in flower but at the tail end of things. From here it was finding a pass up above to the next one. TFTC!

Its always a good day when you team up with your mate and head out to enjoy the spoils of geocaching together. Today, steeba and I picked what turned out to be a rather warm day to be out bushwalking around the Menai/Heathcote Rd area.

With many solved puzzles to tackle we managed approx 14km up n down the steep 4WD tracks which I use to use many years ago. Again steeba solved the puzzle but at GZ I did the hard work of finding and signing the log.
Thanks

This was our main focus for today's outing. We targeted several high D\T combos for the day. This was our 3rd find and what an epic adventure it was. First solving the puzzle was a quick affair though I did need a small nudge from a previous finder.

After we got to the calculated GZ it seemed like we are searching for a meal in a haystack. But soon we were lucky to catch something from the corner of our eyes. Sure enough it was the cache. Signed the log book and hidden the cache back as found.

Found at 3:48 PM GAFF5.
A couple of years ago we made a special trip to Sydney and stayed with wazza9 and nana nel with the express purpose of attempting this cache, however it was a horrendous weekend and we could hardly get out of the house due to the heavy rain, so we didn't even try to get there - which on reflection was a brilliant idea!
Today - we were again staying at wazza9's place and as we didn't have much to do after the morning's kayak experience, we headed out to find this cache which was going to be a lot easier in the dry conditions. Managed to cross the dry creek and then a hefty climb up the other side to where we started looking. I saw something in the shadows early in the search, but dismissed it as a piece of grass, but after trying a few other spots, wazza9 called me back to that original spot and there it was - I could have saved myself a few minutes of grovelling on my stomach if I just went with my initial hunch [B)]
A very nice puzzle and a nice terrain challenge.
Thanks jgk92.

After leaving the Gong Mega site we headed north to collect a few select solved puzzles in and around the southern suburbs. Leaving the car in a safe place we were able to make our way down towards the cache while getting slightly distracted with a few stray caches here and there. We managed to keep our feet dry as we done some rock hopping over a creek before getting closer to GZ. Quite a bit of rock scrambling was needed to find the correct level before the cache was in hand.
Thanks jgk92 for the excellent puzzle and showing us this great location.
A favourite point added.

A puzzle that I enjoyed stepping through way back when. When PPE suggested we hit Menai today, I was glad to find a few solutions I'd put away for a rainy day. Loved GZ too - so many possibilities. Thanks jgk92.

New Years Day caching with PelDroedGwin

I’ve been sitting on the solved coords for this very intriguing puzzle for a long time. It was right I my alley and I really enjoyed the idea.

Today we approached from above and in the heat it was quiet the rock hoping adventure to get to the right level !

A great location for GZ.

I loved everything about this one, have a fav point

I had looked at this puzzle numerous times over the past 2 years but was never able to make all the necessary connections. With a planned trip to the area this weekend, I had extra incentive to give it another shot. I made quick progress with half of the puzzle but then didn't know what to do with it. Only after some further research connected the dots, did it all become clear. Definitely a clever puzzle that I really enjoyed.

Joined Team Canary and B@W for a fun day caching around Barden Ridge. After clearing out the local rats, hitting brew's wall, dealing with some Bebees and a new monster, we headed to this one even though I was the only one that hadn't made the find. I totally failed to see that it had gone missing and only just replaced. That was lucky!!! This monster picked another great spot to hide and with it being in a slightly different location, I was on my own. Thankfully I soon had my name in the log. Gotta give this one a favourite for the puzzle, location and container - not to mention the nice D/T rating.

Having solved this great puzzle some time ago, we came in search of the cache today with JJCC. Making our way down we crossed the water and made our way up to GZ. Searching on various levels we settled on a likely spot and set about with a thorough search on multiple levels. After our fourth sweep and two hours having passed since we first arrived, we reached out to some previous finders. Hearing back from one, we exchanged some photos and confirmed we were in the correct location and levels, so another search pursued. Unfortunately we ended up calling a DNF and hope that the container didn't go up in smoke in the fires as there is a lot of scorching up close to the location.

Well i can say i couldn't have solved the puzzle without help. I recall giving up on it bask when it was published. only recently i decided to have another go.
I had planned to find this last week when i found another two caches in the area, but ran out of time.
This weekend I was supposed to be heading out west, but with the forecast heavy rain, that was cancelled. So here i was with some spare time and thus cache was calling to be found.
On climbing the slope from the river there was THE place i would have hidden a cache if i had the chance. I climbed in and there was the cache! A great spot.
Thanks for the cache.

Today I made the area of Menai unsafe by doing some T-high caches. All the ones planned were done, the additional one was a DNF.

And yes, this was the real reason I came here! To finally bring this one to bed. I've long looked at this one, finally solved it a couple of months ago, and today was the day.

First I did some traddies and got the final coordinates and a DNF on Bushbash. And then down the hill, which was expected about 150 meters as the crow flies so that would be 2 hours or so bushbashing, but the vegetation was relative light and after five minutes I was at GZ.

Another three dimensional structure..... I could have guessed it. Hunting in the obvious place didn't give anything, so I went on. A vertical cave structure? Nope. Here then? Nope. I kept going and going until I ended up in a nice cave where I found.... nothing. And I was as the first rock again. On the way back I saw something suspicious and oh look!

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log (thanks for the pencil as I lost my pen somewhere on the way), TFTC!

Found with BillHill531 on a day trip past Sydney and back to find a selection of high and rare D/T combinations to help fill ours grids for future loops.
This was our sixth stop and and favorite GZ and puzzle of the day! I had looked at this a while ago and not got very far. Then I made a shortlist of caches to fill my 5x5x5 grid and this one made it on. So then I had to solve it. Again I got stuck at the same point, then something clicked and I knew what I was doing! Very well done and I have not seen any others like it!
Then GZ, also my sort of thing. I had lots of fun climbing and crawling around. Just playing. In fact I was just squeezing myself through one hole and popped out and the cache was just staring me in the face. I do not think many people come in from that side as it was well covered from the front. A little disappointed to find it so soon as I was having such a good time, but then it was time to move on and find some others.
Thanks for puzzle, climb and cache!

Found with TOMBI!. Got an early start with no delays from Newcastle, making this the 5th cache today. We came down for some targeted DT combinations. This being one of them, and the fires did not get here, so was a real bushbash to get to. Very nice location. TFTC jgk92

Took a long time and several goes to work out the final coords for this one!! Today I was in the area for a few other caches and wanted to knock this one of the list as well. Coming in through soem burned off areas I was glad to refresh and wash a little at the creek. Missed the part about the path to the creek, so did a bush bash all the way from the fire trail. I reccon the creek might be a lot more tricky to cross at times then it was today. Finally at gz found the cache were I would have hidden it as well. Love the area, has a lot of potential for more caches.

Wazza9 has been looking at this one for a long time, he solved it earlier this year, but time hasn't permitted to get out to find GZ, today was the day after Tronador solved it recently, so we met up to walk in. Crossed the river upwards we went, climbing and crawling after a short time Tronador spotted something that needed checking out, yes that was the container. Sat down and signed log and replaced, left 2 trackables and took one. Thanks to jgk92.

TFTC,

I had looked at this cache several times from the time it was published and usually gave up after failing to come up with a result.

In February, a cacher from up north contacted me and said they had a solution that they wanted someone to check. I passed the answer on to a previous finder and was advised it was correct. Advised the cacher that it was good and he asked me if I would join him when he came down. My answer was not until I could solve it myself.

Panic stations and out came all the paperwork. Working with Nana nel, I came up with some information which still didn't give me a solution. More time was spent on the internet and after several failures we came up with the correct answer. Nothing like being forced into a corner and we were ready.
It wasn't to be as the weekend that our cacher friends came down from up north, it rained and rained so bad that it would have been dangerous to try for a find. Our friends returned home without this cache ticked off.

We were at an Event last week when another cacher was talking to others about it and overhearing I said that if it was solved, I was ready to go. I got a message mid week and it was arranged that we would go this morning making this our first cache for IGD.

Having trouble with reception near GZ, we made our way to the top and viewed where GZ was. Taking several reference points, we made our way to a suitable location we had already passed and after checking a couple of spots made our find.

Visited a group of trackables and added a Favourite.

What a great puzzle. Very unique. I'd looked at this a number of times over the last year or so and whilst I had a half hearted go at this, I never completed it. Having cleared out all the other caches in the vicinity, I was now running out of caches to find after parkrun at Menai. This lonely cache sat there staring at me. So during the week I decided to put a bit of effort into solving it. I do my best puzzle solving late at night, so it was not a surprise to me that once again, while burning the midnight oil, a clear solution appeared. Wazza9 had mentioned to me the week before that he had already solved this but had not found the cache yet. I organised to meet up today after parkrun. An easy walk in along the trail then a slight detour to the creek. A likely GZ appeared but needing a better sat. reading we scaled the heights. Locating the exact location was simple from this position and not long after arrived at the right level and the right GZ. Waiting for Wazza9 to move along,I spotted something that caught my eye and told Wazza9 to investigate further, which he did, revealing a nicely hidden cache. What a wonderful spot. So peaceful, we stopped here and chatted for a bit whilst completing the caching business.
Top cache. Top location. Top company.

A wonderful day today with Mighty Minions in search of some extreme D:T combos. MM had 5 left in her 1st loop, and I had 4 left in my 2nd loop when we started and we've sorted out most of those and a few from our next loops! No wonder I'm sore!

This was the third cache of the day. We'd solved the puzzle a few weeks ago (loved it) - it initially had us stumped until Tombi made a leap (sadly he wasn't with us today), and we soon connected the dots. It's well put together and a great lead into the adventure.

What a glorious winter day for a walk. We made good time down to the creek choosing a great little track. It's such a lovely area. Thank goodness - it took the focus away from this being the third gorge we had climbed down into for the morning!

Loved walking along the creek and we made a quick climb. Somehow we jagged the right level to start with and made a reasonably quick find at GZ with both cache and log in great condition.

This was a great cache experience on every level. Great puzzle, great walk, great location for a hide. A true highlight of the day.

As an added bonus it was one of the combos I needed for Loop 2. Just 2 left now. TNLN TFTC

Definite FP for the whole experience.

A great day out caching with the_garbageman to fill some missing holes in our DT grids. I only had 5 left before today and only 2 left now. This was the 3rd cache of the day . I really enjoyed the puzzle even though it took a little working out it was very clever. it really was the nicest walk of the day , the creek at the bottom was lovely. we found the right level quickly which made for a quick find. Thanks for the cache jgk92 fav point for the whole experience tnln sl

Caching with MJH1970

I'd been working on this one for a while but struggled after the first step.. so when MJH came up from Tassie, we put the brain trust together. After about an hour after looking at it . A solution popped out.. We thought, na I couldn't be that easy.. but the coordinates looked good. so I messaged a previous finder and so it wasn't that easy.. so after a slight nudge, we were sent in another direction. So we still struggle.. a chacnge of location was required. So we headed to the pub..

Phones fully charged, notepad and pens, charging cabs and spare batteries.. and plenty of beer.. About 60min later a solution started to unfold.. and then finally the solution. Now to find it.

After going around in circles due to leftover wp, we finally get to our parking soft. It was a nice and easy hike to the creek and as it hadn't rain for a week and with all the heat, it was an easy crossing. Then the climb to gz. Once we got to the right level, the prize was quickly found. Log signed and cache returned.

The climb out was hard work from heat 38 degrees today. But it was an overall great experience, therefore a FP from me.

A road trip from the ACT up to Sydney's high D and high T caches around the Georges River region. AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX and I all had caching goals to complete. We explored the rivers by boat, then the bush by foot. I collected 19 caches with 16 different DT combinations. A fantastic, fun day out.

#15 for the day. ZQX identified this puzzle as one he wanted to grab during the day. So I picked it up and tackled the puzzle a few days ago. The 'in' took a bit of thinking, but I got there in the end. Then the rest of the puzzle provided a nice flow, right through to the coords. The theme is great and even formed part of our conversation as we ventured to GZ.

What an interesting area for a cache. Cool rock formations - why wouldn't you want to explore these for the odd container? At GZ, I put on my CO cap and tried to imagine where jgk92 might hide the container. Ohh...how about there? Yep. Cool spot. Very happy to get a D5T4.5. Then it was a nice walk back to the geovehicle. TFTC. A favourite for the fun puzzle, the theme and a brilliant GZ.

Solved this with chudles and EDF soon after it came out. As he mentions on his log, he had a lot of the bright ideas on this. I really liked the clever way the puzzle came together, and the area near GZ was beautiful. Grabbing the cache with TikvaNZ, AngelG27 and Fox in Jox today was an excellent adventure. FIJ found the cache after five minutes of searching while I was shining the torch nearby.
TFTC and the hide. Plus 1 FP!

ZQX, TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and I headed to Sydney for a Sutherland plunder of high terrain and difficultly caches to help us with our various caching challenges. A highly successful and tiring day with my DT grid now filled!! 15 different DT combinations, many with T5 or D5, lots of laughs and great company!

This was the last of the "planned" caches for today, found at 1530. Got the first bit out easily but needed a tiny push on the second stage - the final stages were a breeze after the second stage - how cool!!!!

I am not by nature a mountain goat or a tricky Fox, so I did not really enjoy the T part of the puzzle, but I did it, albeit a bit more slowly than my team members Smile but a fav point for the fun puzzle and interesting GZ!

The 15th of 18 finds of the day on a high d/t raid to southern Sydney with AngelG27, ZQX and Fox in Jox. I had done most of the research prior to the trip and finished the solve on the way to Sydney. Cache soon found after a short steep bush bash. Nice hide. TFTC.

7/12/16. 12:17 PM. Cache #4476.
2nd of 6 finds - a successful hunt for adventurous caches in Menai.

After "Hole in the Wall" I moved the car a little further along Barnes Crescent and made my way down the familiar hill of the Barnes Track. I'd been here before in September to find Gnorman. And I'd been here just 3 weeks ago for an unsuccessful hunt for "Bush Bash", in which the hot weather had gotten to me and I suffered heat stroke on the way back uphill. It's hot today, too - was I a sucker for punishment?

I'd solved this one a while ago so I knew where to head to, even though my path took me past the published co-ords as well. Two "creek" crossings (it's so low, much of it was just a bunch of stagnant pools, at least where I crossed over). I looked up and knew exactly what I needed to head for. Scrambled my way up, checked a couple of places and then stopped for 10 minutes under a big overhang to cool off. OK, back to the search, looks like I need to try a few places higher up.

Higher up got me to a place with many nooks and crannies, some of which I could only just fit into. Inside one, a large skink was eyeing me off. I then noticed, looking in one more direction I could see some likely camo, which I removed to see the cache! Woohoo! I signed the log and replaced as found. [Cache was labelled "Monster: Shapeshifter"].

Back to the creek and checked the distance to "Bush Bash" - nah, think I'll pass. Now for the long march uphill. Because I had rested and brought more water with me, the return to the top wasn't as taxing as it had been on my earlier "Bush Bash" assault. And seeing as I still had some energy in the tank, I decided to have another crack at "No Muggles Allowed" seeing as I was already up there.

TFTC - worthy of a fave point. Only my second 5/4.5 too!

Alnic abandoned us after the last cache, so we were down to three intrepid cachers to hunt down this monster. We followed a nice track for some time, then headed down a slope. We managed to get over 2 creeks without getting wet & thought that would be it. But no, there was another creek, and this one looked much deeper. But we went sideways & managed to find a point where you could cross and keep dry feet, if you are wearing waterproof boots. Creeks crossed, we had a final scramble up.

Then began searching. Lots of searching. And then even more searching. I decided I needed a break from searching, so I fell down a level. I took on a more supervisory role after that. In between swearing that is. I was about ready to start helping to look again, when the guys made a joint find. In a spot I know I'd crawled past earlier.

Then came the reverse trip, where I misstepped slightly at the creek, and found out that waterproof boots only work below a certain level of water. My feet were slightly uncomfortable for the rest of the day. We made it back to our cars while we still had some daylight, so d cider to head out after food while waiting for sunset and a night cache.

Thanks Smile

This was our last cache during daylight hours in what turned out to be a long day of caching that started with three kayaking caches. We left the bush track and descended the slope and came to the creeks where I found that my hiking boots really are very water proof. The easiest way to get across was to walk in the water, and I got not a drop inside.

As we ascended the slope on the other side it became apparent the general location where we would be looking for the cache. Unfortunately, the cache took much longer to actually locate, although that was due to our oversight. We started in an overhang that looked promising, but we had soon exhausted the possibilities of that. So we moved to our right and started to explore the nooks and crannies there. We even resorted to torches. But after a long, long look we were beginning to resign ourselves to a DNF. Canary called a PAF to try to confirm we were in the right place. Apparently, we were.

When we found the cache, it was one of those moments when we wondered how we hadn't seen it earlier. It was right where we had first searched after the overhang. Canary was just crawling into the spot and I had just walked through it. I turned to talk to him and we both spotted it simultaneously. We both responded with the same exclamation, too - "Oh, truck!" - or something like that.

It was lucky, because the sun was going down and we would have had to call off the search if we had taken took much longer. A great cache. Thanks

The puzzle didn't take to long to solve although a checker would be nice.

Today it was a nice walk along a track then a steep descent to three creek crossings that got harder each time.

Then a shorter climb up to GZ where the searching began. After about twenty minutes a Phone-a-Friend got us back to the best hiding spot although this time searching at a different height. I was getting in position to make the find when bikerbuddy turned and spotted it at the same instant!!!

A great adventure in great company with bikerbuddy and Toriaz.

I had four more D/T combinations to fill on my grid and had been putting off going to the Blue Mtns to find "Non-Trivial - Deranged" which was the only cache within a few hundred km that filled this gap. I was doing some queries yesterday when this newish cache appeared. I managed to peel back one layer but was quite confused as to where the rest of the info was. Sent it to my local puzzle guru who seemed to solve it in a flash and put me on the right track. I should really have read it more closely especially the cache name. Eventually I had some coords, would have been nice to have a geochecker just to make sure.

Today I headed down to Menai which is a good hour's drive from home. Beats all those mint tins and bisons closer to home though. I took the track and picked up a WP and two other caches on the way down. I took one branch of the track and was getting closer for a while but then got further away. I returned to the junction and took the other track which only went about 100m. Turning back again I found the little side trail this time (would be handy to have this as a WP in the geochecker) and followed this to the creek and on as far as could be traversed before the uphill bash.

I thoroughly searched the larger cavity first and then had a rest and read some logs. Headed across and found another cavity which looked promising. I looked in the many, many niches before moving something which hit something else which scraped on something else and the find was made. Nice. Signed and replaced and made my way back out. A great adventure. And a favourite.

Thanks!

The puzzle was interesting and we missed the last step not helped by a couple of alternative answers but on stepping back to see the monster we realised what needed to be done and pushed on through the layers for the final conversion.
Despite it being wet yesterday today looked fine and sunny so we decided it was time to collect. No problems finding the trail to the first creek crossing and we were greeted by two friendly off leech dogs followed shortly by the owner. We pushed on then started the bush bash. Once at GZ there was plenty of choices and some careful searching and thinking where would the CO put the hide we came up with the find. A nice spot. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC. A favourite point from us.

Looked at the puzzle when it first came up and got one step on the ladder but then got a little confused with what needed to be down with the other bit and put it aside. Some recent finders inspired another look and after checking with the CO on where I was headed, something clicked and I managed to crack the answer. On the to do list when I'm down that way. Thanks for the puzzle.

I've partnered with a few people in solving high D puzzles, for this one it ended up being ZQX and EDF.

Usually the solving process goes like this:
- I find a very obvious first step and share the inspiration
- Someone else makes the mental leap required for the actual hard bit, and shares that with me.

However, with this one, I reckon the steps were reversed Smile

Came today with EDF to get quite a few caches in the area, which in the end required quite a bit of cross country travel, but it was a very enjoyable adventure.

It was a beautiful Anzac Day afternoon, perfect for a caching trip down Sutherland shire way with Chudles. Trips with Chudles are almost certain to find high terrain caches, and I ended up with a couple of new DT combinations. Overall a great day to be out and amongst it....

Chudles texted me after dark one night to tell me he had some possible co-ordinates for a new cache - would I be interested? I am glad that the solution he and ZQX had come up with was incorrect, as it meant we waited until today and the possibility of a whole lot more excellent caches.

As for this puzzle, I worked out another possible solution and then Chudles came up with the brainwave of making my solution fit the data. (I like teamwork especially when someone else does the hard yards.)

Loved GZ too, I was in one hole just starting to explore the possibilities when the cry of "Found It" echoed from another cavern. A very imaginative puzzle and a superb location deserve a favourite.

Solved the puzzle with a little help from FTF, then together with C8 and PDU. So I arranged to meet Pipes for a morning hike to GZ. Followed the fire trail from Barnes Cres, until we realised we needed to go cross-country to get to the creek. Crossed a couple of waterways, saw a HUGE Golden Orb spider then climbed again until we got close to where our compasses pointed.
Pipes climbed here, and I crawled there, then we tried other options, until I returned to my first search area. Then thought "What about under there?" and sure enough, the familiar call of "I FOUND IT!" was yelled through the bush. Why didn't I look at that the first time - I would have saved us about 20 minutes searching?
A good sized ammo container with lots of goodies and TBs to take on my road trip later this week. We logged our find and swapped a few items, before replacing the cache in the well-hidden hold.
This was one tough terrain, but worth it to see the impressive rock formations near GZ and the nearby Mill Creek. Now the trek out! And of course, what sort of caching trip would it be if I didn't go home with some cuts and scratches. Plus I walked straight into the Golden Orb's web on the way out to scare the pants off me!

Not being a great one for puzzle caches, I was encouraged by Brewmaker that this was one to try for. The pictures on the description completely bamboozled me but through the guidance of Brewmaker, I took another tack. Confirmed the possible GZ so met up with 'The Brewmeister' for a good walk then Bush-bash to a very remarkable area and just had to take a photo of the amazing landscape.

On to the cache and it was very much climb up, climb down, crawl, in, crawl out until the standard geocaching buddy cry of "FOUND IT!" Hmmm I was sure he climbed in there before. the old Geocaching blind eye approach again. LOL!

I have not seen these types of containers before and looks very much a capable container to use. Lots of trackables inside and duly registered them.

Thanks to my Spider Clearing caching Mate (I do need a taller one though) and thanks jgk92 for the hide and letting me fill in another T/D spot on my Graph (2nd highest T/D).

An interesting area and hide and definitely a favourite point from me.

Mr H told me I would love this one, and he was right!

Puzzle solved yesterday, I was unable to join him for the FTF, so headed out early this morning. Walked down as the sun rose over the cliffs, along a surprisingly easy track to GZ. Headed towards the obvious feature, only for my GPS to suddenly point me in the opposite direction. Went to where it told me, then it sent me straight back....

Initially tried to access GZ from the wrong direction, then saw a far simpler option. Fantastic spot for a cache here - like Mr H, I have had my eyes on this area for further cache placement, and couldn't think of a better spot for a hide.

FTF! @ 4:30pm Smile
After a pretty boring day just doing things that needed to be done around the house, this cache was just what I needed! The puzzle was solved much quicker than I anticipated and before long I was heading out to find the cache. I'd plotted the coords on Google Earth shortly after solving it, and it was very close to a waypoint that I'd marked a long time ago as a potential location for a hide. Well, you beat us to it! But, I don't think we would have found a hiding place as good as this anyway. What a super spot!
Thoroughly enjoyed this cache, and very worthy of a favourite point. Exchanged several trackables but we'll wait for them to get dropped into this cache before retrieving them. Thanks jgk92!
