I have been planning a visit to Karrawatha Forest for a while, today geopup and I finally made it.
A quick find here today, cache is a little worse for wear.
Thanks Cantcacheus2014.

Found replaced with a new day paper... inside very wet... lid broken.. I will try to repair box somehow.

We've headed over to Logan to find [GC8E Queens land](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8E) for our 2500th find and needed just a few more finds before reaching that milestone.
This cache is in severe need of attention. The container lid is in shards, the inner container is not keeping the log book dry and the log book is so wet that we barely managed to make a mark on it. We left the container upside-down over it's contents in the hopes it will help keep things dry. This really needs a new outer container at a minimum.

Thanks for find #2497

Found while caching around the area, the hide has a broken lid, all inside is saturated, but still able to sign log, thanks for the hide, Cantcacheus2014

Grabbed the Geo-Dad and headed out early to trek down to the Karawatha Forest to participate in Community Celebration Events - 2020 (belated as it is now 21st birthday celebrations).
Arrived deliberately early, to tackle the 5-6 caches in the nearby walking circuit.
Cache 10 for the day.
Okay, looking at heading back to the car, but a different path back might get us to double figures for the day...
Signature in the log. Thanks for the cache.

This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

After finding the Queens land anniversary caches I made a loop back to the car and stopped by this one on the way. The container was broken and full of water. I was able to sign a damp log but it does need some maintenance. Tftc

Easy find. The old log looks wet and mouldy, the new one is OK. TFTC.

Found!
Cache in bad shape, outside container filled up with water and cache container floating...
Reversed cache, covered with natural camo should be good for a minute

Last one for today, as it was getting on a bit in the afternoon. This cache has obviously seen better days, but it's still in a loggable condition thanks to Peppa's replacement. I would agree however that some CO intervention would go a long way to helping it's longevity. The uploaded photo shows the condition of the original.

I made a detour from my intended path thru Karawatha to find this cache... needs maintenance indeed... the container has pretty much disintegrated... I’ve placed the contents into a container (the biggest I had on me) but I would be concerned about the longevity of this container in the elements...

We had planned to attend the event here today but all things being Covid it was cancelled. We decided to drive up from the GC anyway and collect some caches here on this special day. We had a list prepared that included Queens land and Queens Land 10th Anniversary caches.

We walked up the trail with goldielover and stairman1 and their geodogs and they waited while we took to the bush for this one. Found quickly and retrieved the rather broken container. Replaced as carefully as possible and headed back to the trail where we said goodbye to our new friends as our cars were in opposite directions. TFTC Cantcacheus2014

Out for a lovely walk in this area today. It is very flat around here and I guess the whole area could sometimes be flooded. Certainly the container was very wet and the logbook soaking. We did our best to get rid of any excess water in the container, however the container does need to be replaced if the cache is going to live on.
A beautiful area to walk in. We are really enjoying our meander through this forest today.
Thanks

I had several target caches that I was after and most of those were caches to finish off the JULY Challenge. As of today I still needed a J, U and and Y and since I'm running out of caches where I am, I decided to head over to the dark side of town to an area that had all those letters that I needed.

The day consisted of 6 different cache types (Wherigo, Traditional, Earthcache, Letterbox, Virtual and Mystery) with plenty of time spent driving around and around and around Slacks Creek, then off to Karawatha Forest to weave in and out of the many different trails this place has to offer, but be careful, if you're not paying attention to where you're going you could easily get lost, plus it was my first time here, so I didn't know what to expect. While on my travels between caches I also picked up a few traditionals and even an Earthcache that I pass every Wednesday for work, so it was nice to finally grab that one while I could.

Thank you for bringing me to all these locations, many of them I've never visited before, so thanks. All in all it was a stunning, but rather warm day here on the southside of Brisbane.

Seeing as I was close by I should grab this one to, but it could really do with a new, well everything! The container is broken and the log is a total mess and I wasn't able to sign it.

Travelled down to Karawatha with the main objective to visit 'GC8E Queens Land', the oldest cache in Queensland. Walked the tracks finding a few caches in the area before heading back to where I was staying in Toowong, stopping several times along the way to add to the day's tally. Thanks for the cache Cantcacheus2014!

I spent the last two afternoons in the Karawatha Forest to visit the geocaches hidden here around. First time beeing here I was fully concentrated to get the 2k geocache only. Now it was time for the remaining stashes. Few of them seem to be muggles (dnf was logged there). All the rest could be located and the logbooks signed.

Many thanks to all the owners for hiding and maintenance on their caches!

Found @5:03:00 PM.

With the hidden creature souvenirs month beginning we began searching for possible locations to have a "big" day of caching.
With Lismore area cleaned out Walden clan and I decided to pack the bikes and head North. We left Lismore around 5am and returned around 8:30pm with around 70 finds.
Really enjoy caching this way. A few mishaps along the way.
1. A puncture
2. Lost mobile phone (luckily found again)
3. A run in with the police while trying to access an area that had a road closed sign.
4. A sore bum

37km of cycling.
Had a great day. Thanks to efforts of the hiders.
Sorry for all the copy and past logs.
Cheers

1Minniemoo and I headed over to the darkside after a cito event on the water in the morning. We wanted to find the old cache in here and as many others as we could find as well.
We weren't quite sure on the area this one was in but it turned out to be much easier then we were expecting.
After scaring a wallaby and finding some spiderwebs, we located the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

21/4/18, 3:09 pm Find #1633
Out with Wombles&Co on the Dark Side, oops I mean Southside, this afternoon, after spending our morning CITOing on the kayaks on the Northside. An all round workout day today with upper body in the morning, then the legs for the afternoon!
When we first headed for this cache we weren't exactly sure of how much bush bashing was going to be required, as neither of our phones seemed to show all the tracks in this area, regardless of what we used to look them up. However as we walked from our previous cache, the way became clearer and once we saw some yellow up ahead along side a fence we knew we would have an easy way in after all I've and close to the cache.
When we finally did head off track, we made a quick find. I also managed to make quite the find of some decent spiders webs too Surprised. But I probably asked for that.
Thanks for the cache Cantcacheus2014.

Oh thank you 'Cantcacheus2014' for a regular cache. I've just walked around the Holden series and I'm well and truly over micro caches. Found this one after clearing a lot of cobwebs on the way in. The next finder can thank me ... if they're quick. Signed the log and left the travel bug. I'm not much into finding these days, so hopefully the next finder will move it on. TN/LN/TFTC.

We were planning on finding this cache after trying to work out a place to park. The nearby road was closed for access and we had to find another place we could enter from. In the end we found somewhere in the middle of nowhere but were happy to rack up a few extra steps.

On the way in, we were inundated with cobwebs and I had to resort to the old hold a stick in front of your face trick. I was knocking them down at a rate of knots but after the first 20 slap you in the face, your care factor starts to drop.

There were plenty of black butterflies dancing around and everywhere we looked we could see them performing their crazy mating ritual. I'm not sure why these butterflies would pick a hot muggy day to get it on, because anything of that nature was the furtherest thing from our minds (well, from my wife's mind). I'm always thinking about it.

We dropped a TB into this cache that we saved from a previous cache that we don't think will last long. Unfortunately we didn't take note of the tracking code and I hope the TB owner will get back to me so I can update it. tftc

Headed back to the picnic grounds for a little lunch when we (Swampybees and I), decided to side track to this one. Found a convenient gate to cross to the right side .(Why is that fence there anyway?) Cache soon located and the deed done. Recovered with a little extra cover as it was a bit exposed. Thanks Cantcacheus. As usual we took a slightly harder route back thinking it was a short cut. All part of the fun.

After finding the Minnie cache quickly, I figured I still had enough time to wander over and find this one before I had to get to work.

It was a pleasant stroll and I stayed on the path until I was about 50m away. When I stepped off the track, I startled a rabbit that was quite close and it took off into the bush.

The cache was found easily and I realised that I should have brought the TB I have to drop off but I left it in the car. So I signed the log and wandered back out.

Kiara's Christmas Cache

is a cache which has

a name with no

relationship (as far as

a cacher like me can)

see) to the cache being sought.

Clearly, we did not let a possible red

herring detract us from the

rigors of the hunt, and so

in no uncertain terms, we

successfully found the prize

then signed the log

meticulously replaced it

and went on our merry way,

stealth mode to the fore!

Cantcacheus2014 perhaps has

a daughter whose love of

cake as Christmas time

has prompted this for-

e ver dedication. Only speculation, of course.

A short stroll from the previous cache, Ghostgums and I found ourselves at GZ but overlooked the really obvious cache location and continued past the hiding spot... Hmm, clever... Wink

Just a short ride from the last and I ditched the treadly and took off on foot. My phone was playing catch up as I weaved my way through the trees towards GZ. Before it got a chance to work out where we were I spotted the container from a distance. It was completely uncovered just sitting there looking nice and pretty. Everything was in order so I guess a bush turkey or something had been scratching around it. As I had left my bike back near the track, I wasted no time signing in and replacing with a lot more camo.
The container looks familiar I think, Canungra event prize? Nice decoration work Kiara, thanx again to you and your parents.

I had left the missus in the car parked near the gate and after finding the other cache headed down the path.

I was not aware that this part of the old farm had been annexed into the Karawatha Park but I am glad that it has been,

I soon found the cache and signed the log.

I returned to the car and my wife told me that she had been visited by the local constabulary who where checking out the area. She tried to explain caching to them but not with much luck. They told her that the area where had parked was not a safe area.

Looking at the burn out marks on the road and the 2 memorials on the fence I think I can agree with them. I would advise other cachers not to leave their vehicles unattended here especially at night. We were glad that we were leaving.

The day before I, Dr Hunting Rabbit, am meant to be leaving Australia and what do I spend my day doing? Geocaching with WTF21!!! Big Grin

After a morning of caching with Crew153 and a quick lunch WTF21 and Dr Hunting Rabbit teamed up for one final afternoon of caching.

Crew153 and I were in the middle of Glider Forest when the notifications came through. Nothing we could do about the FTF from our location so we carried on. WTF21 and I decided to start here for our afternoon out as these would be the easy hides and a good warm up for Magnesium Drive. This was our second find in this forest. WTF21 found this one within seconds of reaching GZ. It was nice to see the sistema from the Hinterland Round-up event go to good use.
