My second time here with coconuts3. We figured we were making an error or more with the answers. Today there was a definite determination that 3 adults must be able to sort this out! EVENTUALLY we did - phew!! Quite a bit of excercise was achieved with this cache, but we got it, very happy to hear those magic words!! TFTC
We have come here for our third time, didn't log previous DNF's as felt we were making errors. Have now been to 19 different combonations including climbing hill beside lake. Today with busy paws we wern't leaving untill we found you. Perserverance pays off, we are all thrilled to have the cache in our hand and be able to sign this log. Thanks for bringing us here and the multi cache bumandworker.
Had a look for this one the other day but didn't read the noticeboard correctly as a few people around. Thought we had the right area to look (the theory was correct, just not the location) but came up empty. Contacted a couple of previous finders but they couldn't remember so contacted CO who put us right. Went back today and read the sign properly and then made an easy find of the cache. tftc
Decided to head out to lake tennyson and do some walks. Was foggy this morning but has cleared up into a beautiful day.
Got the Information off the board and was sure we had passed the location on the way in. Stopped on the way out but it was not there. Searched a number of other places but still could not locate.

We had spent 5 days in the St James and the kids hadn't seen Lake Tennyson before, so a small detour to the lake for a looksie and have a read of the signage. Had a wee think about it and then checked a spot on the way back and huzzah, there it was! Cheers, what a great open place this is!
well that was an interesting read. A very clever multi too so I was quite relieved that I actually found it. I've had a wonderful day exploring along this road today - thank you for your significant contribution bumandworker. TFTC # 16,937
Spent a day exploring through the back of Hanmer Springs collecting a few caches along the way. A really enjoyable trip, and some great country. TFTC and the excuse to travel through a remote-ish piece of NZ. Once we read everything correctly it made for an easy find.
Beautiful spot to enjoy the morning sun! Nice walk to the final, getting changed twice along the way as the temperature started to rise! TFTC!!
Nice drive up here after parking the caravan in town. There were a few camping here. Quick find a at final
Found this interesting little multi today after a drive up to Lake Tennyson. Had to think about it.... lovely to be able to go caching again TFTC
Such a stunning spot at the lake! We decided this year to take the tribe on some off the track but nz adventures where they don't always get to see. For the first trip it was an amazing day and great fun swimming (cold!) and fishing (highly unsuccessful!). With three juniors chipping in we misread the description and merrily went to the wrong place. Duh and then figured it out after that. Loved this one!
Cache number 1 of 3 today, on our trip to Lakes Guyon, Tennyson, and Sedgemere, Island Gully Hut, Hanmer, and Scotties Hut. Caching as a team so all logs signed BRN to save space (Bo&bronnie, Rincewind3, NotManlyJack = BRN).
I wasn't sure how we'd go with this style of multi but in the end it was easy... and in the first spot we checked. Bo noticed the item we needed first. A favourite for this, it's clever.

Taking a winter drive from Hanmer Springs over Jacks Pass and on to Lake Tennyson. A fine cold day, the temperature never got over 3 degrees. Still a good day to to find geocaches and get out and about. I had read up carefully, description and previous logs, about this one before our trip so knew to take careful note of the signboards. After finding the traditional here we set off on our return trip with a couple of ideas where to stop and look. Phew, our first hunch was right. Thanks b&w.
Found with NZDi near the start of our drive through the Rainbow to Hanmer Springs. We have had the two days between Waitangi Day and the weekend booked as leave since the end of last year with no real plan to do anything, but a week ago I checked the bookings for the company holiday home in Hammer Springs and saw it was free today and tomorrow. After a quick word with NZDi, it was booked and I began researching a geocaching trip. In a moment of inspiration I thought about going through the Rainbow Road to give NZDi's new geomobile a real test. Although all the warnings say you need a high ground clearance 4WD and the Sportage is a bit of a soft roader, I still thought it would have the goods to do the job, and it did although I had to use 4WD on one occasion for 50m.
As we didn't know how long caching would hold us up on the trip, we considered bypassing the caches up to six mile stream as we could come back and do them any time. In the end we decided to do them all and we still arrived in Hanmer Springs before we were allowed to check in.
In my research for this trip I read the cache page and it struck me as strange for a multi that there was no math included to work out the final coordinates. Sometimes I can be a bit thick when it comes to the obvious so I made enquiries to a previous finder. He clarified the situation and after reading the info on the panel, it all made sense. However I hadn't told NZDi what I already knew, so to see if this was as easy as some previous finders have said it is, I feigned ignorance and let her work it out. As the driver, she parked next to an item and told me to take a look, and lo and behold there was the cache.

Interesting information and good idea for a cache but unfortunately for us it's a DNF. We searched about 20 different locations and are sure we are not the only ones looking in different places as there were plenty of geotrails at the spots we stopped. Eventually we gave up very dissapointed that the final wasn't any more definitive location or hint provided. We are disappointed as it is not a place we are likely to come back any time soon being so remote and far away from home.
This was a bonus cache. We were heading for Lake Tennyson and planning to do the traditional caches on the way as we felt we wouldn't have time for multis. Luckily Mrs SoBad did read the listing on the road in when she realised where the way point was. It was a no brainer to at least read the noticeboards as we would have anyway. Had a thought and knew an area to at least check later. It was the right thought - and this made up for the 2 DNF's on the way.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Whilst holidaying, erm caching, in Hanmer Springs with Tufty, we decided to make for this day an attack on all our respectative unfound caches up the Rainbow Road to as far as Lake Sedgemere or a little further north, if we could.
We had gathered the required info that we needed to complete this multicache as we lunched at the Lake Tennyson shelter.
After visiting the Island Gully Hut cached it had been our intentions to visit the Lake Sedgemere cache, but when we had just 3 km to go a large amount of scree across the road, created a high barrier that my 4WD, with its non-aggresive tyres, would not be able to traverse. [xx(] So .... reluctantly we were forced to 180 and head back to Hanmer Springs. On the way back we kept a lookout for this cache's final location. After many kilometres had passed beneath the wheels we came across a spot where the cache just had to be. And there it was.[^] Thanks for the interesting cache B&W.

Out exploring the area north of Hanmer Springs with BaldEd today. My last time here was nearly 6 years ago.
It was 2 hours after gathering the information to work out where the final is for us to finally locate it and sign the logbook.
Cheers for the cache.

Great place. Had researched this and so looked for likely spots in approach. Thanks
This Multi cache had intrigued me, from afar. I'd read the logs both positive, and other, and wondered what was the difference here. As soon as I saw the notice boards I had an idea and upon checking recent logs I realised where the cache would be hidden. As we neared the final G Z there was someone in a vehicle nearby so we waited him out of sight then dived in for the cache. Glad to get this one and another TLA explained. T F T M and C b&w
Lunch had been consumed back at the bach and with no real plan for the afternoon I proposed a trip out to Lake Tennyson along the lower Rainbow Road (which I had not traversed before). mrs capperz was OK with that so we set off for pastures new, and a few caches on the way too (of course). Some great scenery around these parts, and a shed-load of MTBers heading towards Hanmer (Rainbow Rage perhaps). All caches located and replaced as found.
Our first full day in Hanmer for this weekends visit and a day of mixed weather. The forecast initially had been indicating rain all day, each day of the visit so alternative (indoors) things were planned. The reality though was somewhat different. The weather, upon waking., was an awesome cool and slightly misty start with a chill in the air and no breeze. The morning was sunny and awesome, the afternoon brought a few spots of rain and the later afternoon welcomed the rain in, and it never left! At the time of logging it has been raining really heavily for a few hours now! Yuck.

Toby, The Seagnoid and I are off on another adventure - Wairau, Rainbow Station to Hanmer Springs and back. Its been on my bucket list for ages and today is the day!! Woke at 5am to rain so we delayed for a couple of hours and decided to go, go. Should be a breeze - but I forgot geocaching gets you no where fast - so this became an extremely long day. We left St Arnaud at 9.30 and home after midnight!! But still loved it.
A great multi - another reason to read the info boards to capture the info to solve this. So onwards we travel on the look out for GZ. Hey - another gate coming up and the start to St James Walkway. The Seagnoid is on Gate duty and does the honors. Is there a cache here?? Yes this multi - snagged and tagged. Cheers

Well, that sure is a different way to do a multi cache! The funny thing is I have been at the final location a couple of times in the past, thinking it deserves a cache, although for different reasons. Really liked this cache. Dropped in a path tag.
Re the rabbits - I usually see lots of evidence, but had not seen much today. So after this cache I kept an eye out - oh, yes, there is plenty of rabbit poo around!
Taybeedragon and I have been wanting to to do the St Arnaud - Hanmer Rainbow Road for a long time, and for whatever reason it just got rescheduled. However we both had this weekend free, so here we arer. A few cache finds for me as I have already found most at this end, but the dragon hasn't been herer at all, which made for a long trip. The original plan was to get to Hanmer for lunch then turn around and come back, but we got to Hanmer for dinner, and by the time dinner was over, this road and SH1 was closed, so we came back via the Lewis pass. I got home at half past midnight. What a long day! I am still a very tired seagnoid as I write this up. Will probably have another nap later!

A pretty big day out for the opening of the new Waiau Pass Hut. From Blenheim down through the Rainbow road and over the Malling pass. I had stopped and read the sign on my last visit a couple of years ago, and had a reasonably good idea where it was but I was travelling the wrong way. Today however I got the chance to check out the spot and find the cache. TFTC
Read the first lines and still didn't quite understand it but had an idea about what to look for. Had a wonderful time at the lake, the wee ones enjoyed throwing stones and going into the lake. When heading back, kept an eye out for where the cache could be. Then I spotted something that was in the panel and the cache was found! Thanks. Had a wonderful day up here, just special.
While we were sitting watching the view and soaking up the peace and quiet it dawned on me where GZ may be. So had a look and there were the geo stones and cache. It's not often I manage to work things out but when I do I feel fairly chuffed. Cheers
Did some homework about the area we were going to, so knew what we were looking for. But got a little worried because there is an awful lot of clue object to search! Kept the eyes peeled as we drove along. However, walking back to the car at one place and sure enough... Log was soaked, so we took it with us while we had afternoon tea at Lake Tennyson. Returned the dried out log on the way back, with extra bag to keep it that way. An ingenious concept for a multi...
We soon found the necessary information, which explained the cache name, and told us what to look for. We hoped we wouldn't miss it. In the event, it was pretty obvious, and the cache was then a quick easy find. A somewhat unusual multi. TFTC
Read the panels as required and also noted them down for the return trip, happened to spot some thing out of my eye at a stop and BOOM got it, very pleased would have been gutted to miss it.TFTC
I tried to work out the location, but was a little rushed. I thought I had it cracked, but when I went to the likely location, after finding the nearby trad, I came up empty. Hopefully I'll be back!
12.45: On the way from Island Saddle back to Hanmer Springs. During our break at Lake Tennyson (a true gem - again and again - worth the drive from Hanmer Springs anyway) on the way up we read the description and inspected the interpretation boards in the shelter. We found the puzzle rather confusing as we couldn't discover any way to its solution. But this could not hinder us from developing an idea where we should look for the cache - based on repeated reading of both description and board...[xx(] And much to our surprise - it worked... Way easier than expected!
Weather: overcast, 10°C;
Wheelchair: no problem, still mind the distance to civilization;
State: all good.
Thank you! For the nasty puzzle: throwing in another favourite point!

As I drove towards this cache I started to wonder what the cache name might mean. My guesses weren't even close. I was a bit worried I wouldn't figure out where to find the cache too. This is one of the more unusual multi caches I've ever done. Odd even for this CO and that's saying something. Maybe a question mark cache type would have made more sense. But hey I didn't have to contend with any arse about face maths or silly questions to arrive at a zero and I found the cache so it must be a good multi. [^] It was certainly interesting and educational so gets a plus one from me. The view of the lake was also pretty nice and well worth the drive.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Enjoyed the location of given coordinates, but definitely NOT happy about how Final location arrived at. In fact it wasn't arrived at, just a lucky guess. I found it by sheer chance while heading to location named in the panel the next morning. I would've been REALLY Peeved to have DNF'd it as this is some 1000km from home and I'm unlikely to ever return. There's just too many other magical locations to search out and visit, but TFTC.
Found it whilst doing some work at St James. Drove up to Lake Tennyson and enjoyed the view and the wind, then bagged the cache on the way back. Nice one. tftc
Thanks for the history lesson. Had no problems finding the cache. Very nice multi
FTF When I am out and about I like taking photos of info boards to re read them again later. We stopped at Lake Tennyson before rafting the Waiau River in November. As always I took photos of the boards and then raced back to the car to get it out of the bitter wind that day. Reading the cache description while researching our trip I was able to find the answer without leaving home. Unfortunately it was late when we drove to the Lake last night which made it hard to see what we were looking for. On the way back to Hanmer we found a logical spot and found the cache. Thanks for the cache bumandworker
