Thanks again to all those who attended, it was great meeting you.
It looks like there are still a few people yet to log their attendance so please do this as soon as you can. I will need to archive the event cache shortly (but don't worry, you will still be able to post your log after this happens if you do not get to it in time). Get on it to claim your special digital souvenir!
Here's an interesting fact you may not know: according to the Guinness World Records, the record for memorising Pi was achieved by Chao Lu (of China) who recited Pi from memory to 67,890 places, at the Northwest A&F University, Shaanxi province, China, on 20 November 2005. Chao Lu, a chemistry student, attempted the record after practising for 4 years. The attempt lasted 24 hrs 4 min and was recorded on 26 video tapes. News reports from CCTV (China Central Television) and from Yangling TV submitted with the claim. The attempt was witnessed by 8 officials, Maths professors of the NWAFU and 20 students to assist the witnesses.

Me, personally, I'd rather eat some pie instead of memorising Pi, but each to their own!

What with the usual Blood Bank appointment and another Pi-related cache I wanted to get beforehand, I knew that I would be hard pressed to reach this event within the posted times. Heavy traffic around the Showgrounds and a detour around roadworks in Port Melbourne exacerbated the problem, and it was a relief to see that there was still a small crowd gathered at GZ.
As with any event, it was great catching up with friends, putting faces to caching names, and having a yarn. Oh, and on this occasion... pie. Yum.
Thanks for the meet-up to mark this day, JordsAU.

I was a bit late to this event but happy because i beat one of the faces i saw at the previous one. Sprinting my way over here from the last event at the end of the eastern fwy was good fun. Racing past all the cars stuck in traffic. Cheers for a fun catch up with mates.

The international date format is DD-MM-YYYY so pi day was actually a while ago (3.1.415). However it's all about the numbers so everyone was happy to overlook this sloppy mistake (btw. Where did the twenty of 2015 go?) and score another souvenir for the pointless digital collection which we probably soon need for an equally pointless and "creative" challenge cache.

I attended with barflynay (as the joint hosts) and we arrived before the 11 AM start time to ensure we could easily secure a spot to meet at the park. We did this after picking up our tickets to the Grand Prix at the nearby Albert Park circuit and headed back there after the event for qualies, as well as race day on Sunday. It was a beautiful autumn morning and perfect for such an event outdoors, plus St Vincent's Gardens was an ideal backdrop to celebrate Mystery Pi Day and pick up a digital souvenir (or two). It was great meeting some local cachers as well, seeing as though I am a visitor from interstate. I signed the log and dropped off 1x trackable (Bombs Away), which I picked up in Sydney and took all around Europe with me the other month so it can continue its travels around the world. I also discovered a number of other trackables that people brought with them for swapping and discovery. A group photo and picture of the log is also uploaded here to my log. Thanks to all those who attended and made it an enjoyable Event Cache!
Thanks for the meet and greet and was great talking to some cachers about challenges and gaining some great area idea's for some more caching challenges.
Was great to meet Muzza and chat on a personal level about some of his awesome cache challenges

Looks like it will be a great day weather-wise and a big turnout according to all those who have posted a Will Attend log - thank you. Please drop your TB's into the even if you are bringing any along for swapping. Barflynay and I are looking forward to meeting you all at 11 AM today!
I am dropping off 1x TH (Bombs Away), which I picked up in Sydney and took all around Europe with me the other month so it can continue its travels around the world.

Attended with Ahomburg. Travelled down from the other event in Mitcham. Glad to see the grand prix didn't deter everyone. Had a bit of warm apple pie (yum) and a chat. TftEventc

Attended at 11:04am on Saturday, 14 March 2015
After attending the earlier event in Donvale, I managed to get to this one a little early, so had a chat with the hosts and a piece of apple pie.
Then a group of cachers arrived gradually, until we had quite a number here, gathered on this beautiful day in a lovely park, with Grand Prix noises drifting through from the distant track.
All in all, very enjoyable.
Thanks JordsAU.

Thanks for organising this! Was good to meet more local cachers. Enjoy the GP weekend
After the Donvale Pi Day event, I had a cache to do, plus a stop in Clayton, so by the time I arrived at the event, it was half over. But I did make up for it by staying an hour and a half beyond the official end. Great day for the event and wonderful location.
Thanks to JordsAU and Barflynay for organising the event.

Found this one as the second of two events today. I arrived late today but managed to sign the log and enjoy the pie provided. Chatted to a few people and as per the norm stayed later than the event actually went to talking!
Thanks for the event.

Luckily for us, this event time was changed, so it enabled sharkiefan to attend our second event of the day (Thanks JordsAU). It took quite some time to get to this one as the nearby F1 GP was causing traffic mayhem. Once nearby, we were lucky enough to get a car park just 200m from the event site. Saw a few faces from the first event including impressively PeteTheClown who had ridden from the first event. After a bit of a catch up and a chat with the CO, we were off to find some local caches.
Happy Pi day everyone
Attached a couple of Pi Day relevant Pictures
Thanks to JordsAU & barflynay for the event.

With the sound of the Grand Prix in the background and the Roulettes flying above in impossible traffic it was interesting to hear of future attempts yet to be made by the players.
Love this game.
Love this game.
Was our first 'event'. Great to see some of the friendships and also to put some faces to the names I have seen along the way. Thanks for the chat and thanks for organising this.
Pi day event local to us so very convenient. We outsmarted the GP traffic and looped around to find a park here dead on 11am. We were one of the first to arrive but the numbers grew including many who had come from the earlier event out East. Great to speak to local cachers old and new. I had some delicious real life pie too so thanks t those who were generous enough to provide that. I grabbed the Bombs Away TB that the host had brought along and visited a couple that I was carrying myself. Thanks for hosting this event JordsAU and barflynay.
After staying a little too long at the Donvale event, and driving the long way around to avoid traffic from a nearby car race, we eventually arrived to find everyone packing up. Quickly signed the log then stayed and chatted to a handful of cachers for quite some time. Again - putting more faces to names, and loving hearing cachers' stories. Thanks for organising this event JordsAU & barflynay and sorry we weren't there earlier.
A very quick visit to this event today as I had the wife and a mate in tow and we had to get into town before lunch. It was nice to meet a few local people, and also this great little parkland as well. Thanks for organising this one.
We came from Castlemaine to go to this one. Had some apple pie provided and enjoyed talking with some other geocachers.
Thanks for the event.
Thanks for the event.
I wasn't sure if I would make it to this event with the GP happening next door, but it turned out to be a fine drive and plenty of parking.
The park looked lovely, the gardeners have been very busy here.
Spend a very sociable hour chatting to fellow cachers.
Thanks to JordsAV and barflynay for the organization.
Thanks, Robmc.

I'll be on my bike. Riding down from one Pi event to the next. Taking the scenic route in. I hope i can make it in time.
looking forward to it. will only be a quick visit as I will have a mate from interstate with me and I'd promised him all the touristy stuff before having to be in town for lunch.
Visiting from Brisbane and would absolutely love to attend and visit you all - but sadly Im across at another park working at the F1 - I think my orange overalls would be a bit too obvious! Any chance I could log a virtual!??! I will however try to get a puzzle after the racing... Have fun...
Be warned! The F1 circuit will be set up this weekend, with thousands of fans expected for Saturday's qualifying session. Transport here will be under strain. Will this location be easy to access?
I would have thought the event location should be far enough away from the F1 to not be an issue but obviously expect the area closer to the track to be busy?
I'm sure you're right. I'm not from around here and I don't know how...wide the fenced off area becomes. Looking at the map the location does look far enough away. Public transport and the roads will still be busy though, so leave plenty of time!
I called up the City of Port Phillip this morning just to confirm that St Vincent's Gardens in Albert Park will be accessible during the F1 and they said it will be. The thing to note is that restrictions on parking in the area will apply due to the event so just make sure you abide by the signage - they advised there is a 1 hour limit in most streets in the area so perfect for our Event Cache. Thanks goodhorsehymn, better to be safe than sorry!
Excellent! That's good news. Sorry for causing any unnecessary concern! I'll hopefully make it to the event
Well seeing you changed the time and I can make it, I will come. I love PIE. Hopefully I remember to get some. Theres always room for Pie!
I noticed that another Event Cache, GC5MY31 Pi of the Century, was published at the same time for the same time. As such, I am changing this event to start at 11:00 AM and finish around 12:00 PM to enable those eager to attend both if they wish (like me).
