#13889 Three days on the road from Sydney to Mudgee, with the main objective of finding and logging the TRLT-North. It was an enjoyable drive, across dirt roads and some beautiful scenery. Day 1 we camped overnight at Hill End and day 2 we pitched out tent in Mudgee. The caches were easily found so the focus was fully on the journey through our Mid Western region of NSW.TFTC to all cache owners for maintaining this great series.
Stayed nearby overnight and grabbing anything along the way. Most hides where found after a short search. Loved the different containers and hides. Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Definitely felt a tingle as I entered.
Cache found, log mushy, added new paper.

I love looking around cemeteries and this one was steeped in history. Geoian called out and I went and saw the Powerful Owl that he had encountered in the tree, what a beautiful bird. A fav from me due to the stories of the people layed to rest here and a cemetery that I would have missed had it not been for this cache. Thank you for bring me here.
Tftc the log is a bit soggy. Nice place to visit, very interesting to read the old graves.Paul and Lou visiting with Savannah and Nasa.
5 dnf's today with 80 finds on his trail, starting at Andromeda, and finishing at Sofala. Thanks to all the CO's for your efforts. They are greatly appreciated.
I had been looking around for a few minutes, when i hard a noise in the tree above. I look up, and there is the biggest golden eyes i have ever seen, staring at me, as if i am encroaching on someones slepping time. A Powerful Owl was staring at me, and did not take his eyes off me, till i had found the cache, signed and left. An amazing encounter, of which this is my first. And no phone on me o take any photos.

Day 2 of our Mudgee to Orange weekend, we're taking the back roads (those less traveled!) to Bathurst. The car GPS spent all day in vain trying to convince us to turn here and there, but we took the longest way possible I'm sure.... Another day of great conditions, maybe a little too hot, and we made 50 GC finds, with a pair of GA as a bonus.
Spotted by Oliver after the rest of us missed it, unfortunately the contents are very wet... probably needs a better container.... TFTC!

Found today on our road trip on the section from Mudgee to Bathurst, had an amazing time on this section, caches generally in great condition, hints were also very helpful!

Had a look at the old graves while geo hubby found the cache. Was very interesting to see some of the history there. Thank you for taking us to this place.
Found today after a bit of gold panning not too far away. Easy find but log was a little damp. This is a great little town and we are glad we have spent a few days here. I feel this might not be our last visit. Tftc!
Tftc alnic39, another section of TRLT is being travelled today. Thanks for the series.

TFTC Our event at Mudgee was cancelled due to COVID so we decided to cache instead. Loving the quiet drive.
Day 2
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Picked this one up along our journey as well.
Thanks for the hide alnic39 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
Overlooked the cache on the first look, then spotted it. The nearby neighbour was playing fetch in the front yard with the dog, who was more interested in chasing the livestock around.
Thanks for the hide alnic39 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

O319 and I have headed off for 3 days of caching. Mainly targeting TRLT and "history of" caches.
A tricky find, we were looking for something a lot smaller. Good hide, found with the GeoBrat and GeoKid
We were visiting a friend nearby and the kids wanted to try fossicking. What a lovely hide. TFTC.

This was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero, at what turned out to be another great birding spot with several different species including flocks of Yellow-rumped Thornbills and Red-rumped Parrots plus a couple of White-throated Treecreepers. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache, where it was hard to imagine that this must have been a bustling town many years ago. Greetings from Zimbabwe

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.
Out on a caching roadtrip for a few day over the holidays I stopped in here to look and find this hide.
It sure has been a really enjoyable scenic country drive.
With so many finds I appoligise for my repeated logs.
Thanks to all the CO for placing their caches along the way

Mudgee trip for The Road Less Traveled series. Day 3. Sofala to Mudgee via Hill End and lots more back roads. The main focus of this trip was more of the TRLT series, so it was good to get back to work on the main goal. A short detour into Windeyer was well worth it.

We are staying at the Mudgee showgrounds and with this extreme heat we headed out early and got back to the caravan by mid afternoon and the comfort of the aircon. We enjoy these rural locations and this was one of the caches we targetted and found. We appreciated the extra effort put into some of the caches to provide a more creative hide. Thanks to alnic39 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
On a two day caching trip with GeodudeAU to cover more of TRLT series and others from Carcalgong-Mudgee-Gulgong-Ilford-Capertee-Lithgow. We had 90 finds and only a few DNFs for our efforts. A great couple of days exploring the Central Tablelands seeing some amazing places we wouldn't normally visit. We even survived the mini-hurricane that swept through our campsite along the Cudgegong River at TSR (Cullenbone)! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. Most were in good order and easily found with the help of handy hints to get CIH.
Love these old country town cemetery cache hides. No need to climb over for us. TFTC

Out with Brewmaker for a 2 day trip finding caches along The Road Less Travelled series and other nearby ones. On this day 1 we started around Carcalgong and then headed north through Windeyer, Grattai and Erudgere before finally camping overnight at Mudgee.
It was an enjoyable journey through the countryside seeing farm and native animals along the way. There was only a little bit of light rain at times today, which didn't cause a problem.
We found all of the caches very easily (with just one providing a longer search). Most of the caches were in good order, so all in all it was a good day's caching. Thanks to all of the COs for providing this trail

After a pleasant night at the Old Bara camp site, we set out for another day of caching along The Road Less Travelled. This time we headed south, starting from where we had started but headed north the day before.
Another cache not part of the TRLT series. Parked outside the gates and went in to the cemetery. A guy in a tractor was working on the field across, but he did not seem to be interested in what we were doing.
Walked across the cemetery down to GZ, where the cache was quickly found.

1/10/17. 3:36 PM. Cache #5375.
39th of 71 finds today.
Day 2 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. Now on to the main leg of the day, The Road Less Travelled; I followed the trail up though Pyramul, Carcalgong, Windeyer, Grattai, Collingwood, Erudgere and Piambong - 62 caches in 6 hours including a handful of non-TRLT caches. TFTC to all the COs involved.
Sorry it's mostly going to be a copy/paste affair, but there will be the occasional extra commentary where anything of note happened...
} : )
This was one of the non-TRLT caches; most of them were around Windeyer. It was nice to have a little town caching to break up the monotony of the roadside ones. I made the mistake here of walking anti-clockwise around the perimeter of the cemetery and so had to contend with some prickly bushes along the way, then at GZ realised it would have been much simpler to retrieve from inside the cemetery...

TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees ). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders .
The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.
Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.
Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.
A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.
Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!

finally it was lunchtime or at least id found a decent lunch spot. I like to have a water view if possible and the meroo creek fitted the bill nicely. I was able to find the cache here mainly because I knew that the CO had done some cache maintenance this week. while wandering around at GZ I spotted what I thought was some random trash but upon practicing some CITO I discovered it was actually an eclipse tin with a replacement log inside. so not sure if it was a throwdown (now not needed ) or accidently dropped by the CO the other day. anyway I took it with me as not needed here.
this cemetery is an interesting place , there are whole family groups in row showing a long history of their local presence. I wonder if their decendants are still around. tftc alnic. another fav point for my adventure today.

2/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.
On the way through with TRLT Series. This was one of the extras we picked up on the trail. Thanks for the cache!

OK, a bit of an adventure I guess you could call this one, we pulled up at the front gate, and the GPS says 90+ mtrs away, I can see a spot that may be good for a cache, so we wander in, start looking, I advise my young friend Crazy Ivan to beware of the large spikes on these trees.
We look for a short time when I decide we are not near GZ, there are 2 things a bit further along that match the hint. Ahh, the old cache behind the rock hide, um, where is the cache? I check the rock in case it has been embedded, nothing.
I read the 2 previous logs, no finds, I read back further and a comment changes the style of hunt, still nothing. We go over the fence, the trees and really widen the search, finally we decide to give up.
I am beelining for the front gate, the wife takes a more wandering route and calls me back, she was looking at a grave with a lot of white quartz decorating it. She asks, is this what you are looking for? Sure enough, in amongst the quartz, is the cache, it is like 40-50mtrs from GZ. Damn, now Windeyer Zombies are taking the caches!
It is now back where it was meant to be.

Unfortunetly no find for us today - according to the hint there was no sign of a cache in that location.
nice spot though- looks like this cemetery is slightly abandoned?

Day four of our five day geocaching trip from Brisbane to Canberra for Easter. Today we cached from Gulgong to Sofala, on the road not so often traveled, working for our 100-in-a-day challenge.
We are caching for 100 or more: that is our aim, so nice quick finds are the order of the day. So these logs will be rather generic - written up after the trip is well and truly over.
The country we traversed was wonderfully varied - a few Ks of sealed road but the majority was gravel - easily handled by our GeoFalcon, although we laughed several times at how the white dust (in sharp contrast to the usual brown and red of Queensland) made it look like a ghost car.
We crossed many causeways, traversed valleys and crossed mountain ridges. Scenery was magnificent. All in all we have only two DNFs in the total trail, so that was a bonus.
Would we recommend this trail? An unequivocal YES!
Interesting stop-off from the normal road-side cache. However, the cache was NOT at the BASE of the tree. At least it wont get flooded where it is resting!
Found at 12.30pm on 23rd March 2016. TFTC.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks
Team sissifalke

Firstly, happy new year to all and may 2016 be DNF FREE! Lol
An early start this morning with the hopes of achieving 100+ caches in a day. Headed north from Mudgee to start a large loop heading back south and west. Loving this drive - lots of livestock and other wildlife including Roos, foxes, rabbits, birds, goanna, sleepy lizards, dragons, you name it. A long day with roughly 12 hours of adventures.

Arrived into Mudgee late last night & have set up camp in the showgrounds.
Todays journey was up to Gulgong following the TRLT & returning via Henry Lawson Way.
After lunch we continued South on the TRLT trail. We travelled through some great farming territory.
We found many great caches.
Thanks for placing this cache alnic39

Thanks for bringing me back to this quaint old cemetery. My husband has ancestors buried here. Thank you for placing the cache down at the back of the cemetery so these people are thought of once again.
Hi there alnic39. We found your cache "Windeyer Cemetery West" at 11:44:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 11774.

Today was our second day of caching the TRLT trail. We started the day off from Gulgong Showground and we were off and running. We ended up logging 50 caches (and DNFing 0) before rain stopped play. Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow.
Please excuse our boilerplate logs. It's not really a good excuse, but we find it really difficult to craft individual logs after attempting so many similar caches in a day.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

This was a nice easy cache to find but it is sad to see cemeteries that are suffering from neglect. TFTC.
