Logs
Was on a run and decided to log some caches not done yet. Cache was swarmed with ants so didnt write in the log book
Easter Sunday. Another nice day so it was off for a walk the geo dog Southridge Laird of Kinlochaline (Lochie). Today we parked at Southwards Museum and walked to Waterstone Park with the aim to collect some caches along the way. Macfam41 found it while Lochie had a rest. Cache container is in VERY poor condition and really needs replacing sooner rather than later. TFTC
Went for a wander and found this cache. Plenty of ants around but none in the actual cache in this occasion. Thanks Madge Family
Old faithful cache that could do with a bit of TLC. Log wet, bag wet & container rusted out.
Rather a sad old cache now, note sent for owner. There were about 51,000 ants in it which we managed to dislodge. However we added a new waterproof log sheet to tide it over until it can be fixed up. TFTC
Area 51? I wonder why this cache was so named. Alas the cache is an eclipse container - the lid is long gone, the log soaking wet - I could not sign it. Photo log attached.---I hired a car to run a bunch of errands, one of which is to solve a bunch of multis in Paraparaumu, ready for collecting on a multi-cache dot-days. So, yes, solved about 7 or 10 and confirmed their hides, but forgot to review the others I had solved here. Probably incorrectly as I had not been able to locate the caches earlier. Oh well, another trip. And of course I got a few finds. Because, well, you know, all work and no play... makes a grumpy seagnoid. And yeah, we don't want a grumpy seagnoid.Rained on and off all day. Light rain, but enough that I had to wear a raincoat for the whole day.
The second cache for me along this trail. We had to continue on past GZ because of a couple of dog walkers - two people and many, many dogs!!! Then we doubled back to get the cache once the coast was clear. The tin is completely rusted out, and the log book is to wet to sign, so I've included a photo. Thanks for putting this here
**19,152**A short walk to Area 51, no aliens about but managed to locate a cache. TFTC
I parked the car across the road from the path, and walked to GZ. I didn't see anybody on the path the whole time, but of course just as I arrived at the location, a person appeared from the opposite direction, walking towards me. Hmm, shall I stand here and wait until they pass? No, how about I walk on to the next cache and then come back? OK that sounds like a plan. So I carried on, our paths crossed and I said a 'good afternoon'. Didn't get a response from them, maybe they had headphones on. I couldn't tell as they had a jacket hood covering their head. A bit later, I'm back at the cache, found it quite easily, but gosh, what a lot of ants! Thousands at least! And the container has no lid. As I'm brushing/shaking the ants off both the cache and my arm, and trying to extricate the cache, who should walk past? The same person, going the other way, staring at me quite openly this time. What could I do, but just stand there, looking weird? After getting the log out and signing it, I was putting the cache back in its spot when, guess what?, another person comes along. Two people in the space of two minutes. Nobody else at all is on that path today. Just them and me. Thanks for the cache!
I had just finished writing the log for the last one when I decided to check my distance. I was right on target. From there I quickly found the cache. Log was quite well jammed in there (I had to use my pen to fish it out ) and the zip lock bag was very wet inside but surprisingly the log itself was fine. TFTC
Had a bit of time spare (ok I planned it that way) before a show at Southlands and walking this track was on the cards. It ended up being a fairly warm day so was a super enjoyable walk. Cache duly found and log is in surprisingly good condition despite no lid. Signed and on my way again. Safely excited Area 51. TFTC.
On my bike now, and a nice quick find on the way back to the car. There are plenty on ants around the area, probably more than 51. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I cruised around today, picking up the odd cache on our journey to Palmerston North. The weather was good most of the day, and the traffic was OK too.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

The same ant family that KingSportS found is still taking up residence in the cache and around. They weren't too happy to be evicted so I could retrieve the log, getting onto my cycling gloves and GPS. Had to resort to tweezers to retrieve the log as the pen was having difficulty digging the bag out.
Once log signed, returned cache as found so the ants can once again take up residence. Cache container could probably do with a replacement.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
Have replaced log and bag as massive ant family living inside and nest at gz
It’s a foot south

Having a walk around the lakes to pick up to these caches.
I got a bit worried by the hint, but didn't had to climb over the fence. Easy find. Container is missing a lid, but log sheet was dry.

Travelled down to Paraparaumu for some caching. Enjoyed several walks along the shared cycle paths. No trouble finding this one and although the cache has lost one end the log was signable. Thanks for the smiley.
We had to coming down to drop the bike off and hubby wanted to go into the museum to see the lambo, so with the scooter I hit the tracks, thanks for placement. - this needs a new container this one has no lid and i have to evict mumma spider and her nest of babies
Easy find while walking the dog, as per previous logs - log not in great condition. Thanks!
Easy find. Needs new logbook and Tim is getting a bit rusted. Lovely walkway. TFTC
An easy find with phone and the hint. Did not see 51, presumably on other side of the post. Eclipse lid missing. TFTC
Thanks Madge Family for placing this cache
The tin is very rusty but the replacement log from last finder is still dry so I added a fresh plastic bag to keep this one going

Greetings from Washington State. We are on day 10 of our 5 week NZ road trip. Traveling from Whanganui to Wellington today with a stop for my muggle hubby to visit the Southward Car Museum. I knew I’d have at least 2-3 hours to do some caching so I set out walking! No problem with this cache and ants now. The log sheet was just mush though. Unfortunately I’m not carrying my geo- bag with spare ziplocks and log sheets. I did have my “driving in NZ” handbook so I tore off a strip of paper to sign. I hope we have figured out this left side driving enough that we’ll be OK with the missing log sheet part TFTC
now that I'm a premium member I am able to award favourite points, so I'm awarding some to the more memorable and enjoyable caches that I've found, have to add a favourite for this cache as it was the very first cache I found!
Nice day so good excuse to get out and pick up the few at the end of this trail that I have neglected to find
Nice quick spot, TFTC

At Southwards for the Rideforever ‘shiny side up’ day. Nice walk after lunch. Thanks to previous logee for the extra paper. Thanks
Intended to drop my Area 51 trackable in this appropriate cache, but unfortunately, it wasn't big enough.
After a cruisy morning the lad and I hit the road to make the most of the 1 good weather day forecast for the weekend. Paraparaumu was to be the focal point for caching today as I really had a couple of caches in mind that I wanted to get for their D/T ratings, and a few more like this one along the way.
So having parked up nearby, the lad and I had an easy stroll along the path, amusing ourselves by pretending to be murdering each other any time a train passed.
We weren't such what to expect from Area 51, but I didn't realise that the best way to mask the smell of aliens was to bury them in compost! The cache was an easy find, which was what we were hoping for. Then it was just a case of avoiding the occasional Cyclist as the appropriate log admin was done and then the whole thing being replaced ready for the next finder.
Thanks for placing this cache.

#5928. My daughter is now on a vegan diet and it turned out there was a vegan food festival being held at Southward Car Museum today. Rest of the family came up for the drive and to check out the fair. I am an omnivore. Plus I needed the car as I was giving a talk in Porirua at 2pm. Decided to check out the local caches while I was parked nearby. Wandered down this walkway. Nice quick find here. No UFO's sighted but one very fast moving object put in an appearance and roared by. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache Madge Family.
10th of the day and this is the third different country I have found an area 51 cache - HK, NZ and the States. Searched near the wrong white pole first. TFTC.
Found on a chilly winter cycle trip from the Paekakariki camp up to Waikanae and return. TFTC
A quick find here walking along the pathway. Container has seen better days, but log is ok. TFTC
A sheltered stroll with little blue hen and the grandkids. No 1 grandson was excited about finding where the aliens we're breeding. On locating he exclaimed " no aliens, just ants!" Log dry, lid detached. No ants in container. Tftcsl
Found with bkj97 and the grandkids on our expedition to southwards for an ice cream. T4TCSL
so happy to find my first geocache, after a few unsuccessful attempts elsewhere in kapiti, found using google maps
One of four found along this track this afternoon on a walk with the geohound. Quick find. #1633. TFTC.
A stroll alongside the NIMT.
Soon managed the find.
Cache in order (although lid has come adrift from the body of the tin - some maintenance would be a good idea), log signed, all then safely re-hidden, just as found.
I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder.

Fun bike ride along here this morning, thanks for the caches to provide interest to it!
A quick find. Container rusty and lid no longer attached, but log was able to be signed without problem. TFTC
As I suspected this might be a similar hide to the one I came from just prior to this, I went straight to this cache. Like the other one, the container is pretty rusty but this one at least has its lid. The hinge is broken but at least it fits snuggly and kind of seals the cache. The log seems fine so not really a problem. TFTC.
Hubby and I caught the train from Waikanae to Paekakariki and cycled back home via Te Ara O Whareroa, new M2PP shared path and Waikanae River. Grabbed a few handy caches along the way. This was find #6. Log in good condition. TFTC
Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 664 and we found it at 2:57:17 PM NZDT on 10 February 2017. Found while walking Neo the dog.
Morning caching in Kapiti area. Quick find after a nice little walk before the shower of rain. Thanks Madge Family for the cache.
A quick easy find, although the cache is of course micro, not small. A smart looking train came past as we were departing. TFTC
No alien interference today so the mission was safely completed with the required secrecy.
(Note: as an eclipse container does not fit the following definition it should be listed as micro rather than small, small being defined as "100ml or larger, but less than 1L. Example: A sandwich-sized plastic container or similar. Holds only a small logbook and small items.")
