Logs

25-Sep-24
We had intended to visit this cache today but in view of recent DNF logs by experienced cachers and the fact that it is a side trip on its own we didn't go. It does seem to be in trouble and a CO check would be appreciated.

24-Jun-24
cache may need checking on

23-Jun-24
Today I was making my way home from Wanganui, back to Wellington, and on a (failed) gamble I chose to hang around in the Kapiti area for a couple of hours. While I was here, I grabbed some of the unfound geocaches in the area, and this was going to be one of them.Sadly, I could find nothing here.

14-Jan-24
With no hint it was hard to know where to look, so after a few minutes I resorted to PAF, in fact several. Even then, with some advice, and after a long look, I wasnt able to find the cache unfortunately. I know it must be there somewhere, will have to try another day.

20-Dec-23
Out in the area looking for cache locations for our upcoming event.Took us a while to locate this one but finally spotted.Log signed tm/ww NZTFTC

22-Oct-23
I've searched for this cache a couple of times, with no success, although recent logs have showed that it was there to be found. Today, I dropped by with rattll, in the hope that another set of eyes would make a difference. This time, success! Rattll spotted it after some 10 minutes or so of searching. All good inside the container. Tftc!

22-Oct-23
Out for a tiki tour with Matagouri who wanted to avenge this dnf. There were many places this could be and the drizzly rain today made searching in the undergrowth a bit of a soggy experience, but the prize was eventually spotted. Thanks for putting this here

28-May-23
Found with a group of cachers after an event in Kapiti. (Signed as LL113 at the time).

28-May-23
I wasn't particularly fazed about finding this cache. There is a big day walk of caches ahead of me sometime - maybe in Summer, and I could do this cache then. but when TwigNZ wanted to find this after an earlier DNF, and as he had already found the caches on the Kapakapanui I and my passenger LL113 decide we would come along and help him find it.

In the end he probably didn't need any help, as a local helpfully pointed us in the right direction, and I am sure he would have found it shortly after anyway,
Still, a nice find.

28-May-23
What a glorious day to be messing around on the Kapiti Coast! And what better way to be messing around than with an afternoon of geocaching cameraderie from an event and a bunch of new caches afterwards.

The upshot of all this was that A bunch of us found ourselves not far from this particular cache. Once I had realised that, I was keen to go a little further to get to this one as it's been 4 years since I was last here, and back then I could not find the cache so I figured a few extra pairs of eyes would be very handy.

And they certainly were. The co-ords are within 10m of where we eventually found the cache, but that 10m covers a lot of potential hiding places so I was happy when I heard the cry "I found it"

Great to finally get rid of this green dot on my map Smile

Found after a long search, not helped by coords being slightly out and riot of potential hiding spots. TFTC and bringing me to this corner Kenny101.

14-May-22
Bit of a tricky find but found it in the end

29-Apr-22
Cache has been checked and is still in place

16-Feb-22
Searched for ages in an ever increasing circle with Talla64 amongst the agapanthus and flax, and a multitude of other shrubs. No luck. A hint would be helpful.

09-Jan-22
Unfortunately a DNF for us today despite an extensive search. Might have to come back and give it another go!

28-Nov-21
Can’t cache them all, we shall try again sometime PR69 x BB96

10-Apr-21
Back in 2016, I tried to find this cache and it has been bugging me that I was one of only two recorded DNFers. Although it does seem as though many others have taken a while to find it.

Today, I returned with a high amount of determination to achieve the yellow smiley. It was still a struggle but the coordinates seem okay and there is nothing particularly difficult about the hide. I guess it is just a case of there being many plausible hiding locations.

I am really glad to get rid of the blue frownie.

07-Feb-21
We were staying nearby for the weekend and went for a walk with the intention of tracking down this cache. Searched in a few different spots with no success although the coords seemed to be leading us to “the other side” from the seat. Messaged the C.O. to check whether we were looking in the right area. We were. Had a further look a few hours later and spotted it within the first minute or so. Not quite sure how we missed it the first time around! #3733. TFTC.

17-Nov-20
Thanks kenny101 for placing this cache in memory of Kelvin who did well to live 98years!

This was a very peaceful spot to find a geocache...
Had not been found since Covid-19 lockdown.

Good co-ords and still plenty of room in the log.

A bit of a search, but luckily the co-ords were spot-on. Dogs were watching but not barking.

27-Aug-17
Found it, great spot easy find.

02-Jun-17
9.30am. The dogs were vocal and the grass and plants were wet but apart from that it was a pleasant visit. Parked close by and soon found.
Thank you. David.

25-Dec-16
Have been here three times but finally found it! Alas it was spur of the moment so we forgot a pen but have taken a photo! What a great Christmas present to find. TFTC!

05-Oct-16
I had visited here a couple of times before but each time I had been driven away by the incessant barking of the neighbouring dogs. Thankfully things were quieter this morning and I turned up the container after a short search.
Thanks very much for the cache.

30-Sep-16
once again thanks to caching we are brought to stunning areas that we would have never known they were here, very quite and all is well with the cache, thanks for the placement, looking forward to staying down this way in summer and spending a few days on bikes looking for the gems.

25-Sep-16
what a lovely area to visit i have never been here before its so beautiful and a lovely spot for a cache. It wasn't in the obvious spot so i then resulted to using my g.p.s and results were found. A lovely out of the way area when we spotted the area we thought it has to be here. When we got closer we realised yes it was. Thank you for bringing us here and for placing the cache in a lovely area. TFTC

28-Aug-16
Quick find with help of a friend's GPS today. Contents all good and dry. TFTC.

09-Jul-16
No joy for me here today. My GPSr simply would not settle which was surprising as it performed admirably a short time earlier in an environment that seemed to me to be far less GPS-friendly as it should have been here. I will be back.

14-May-16
#2234. I was up in this area today locating a few mystery finals and saw this traditional cache as I drove past. So stopped to check it out. A nice garden and seat for someone special to local people. The cache wasn't by the seat so headed across to check around the nearby plantings being careful not to damage anything. Soon found the cache. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for sharing this spot with us.

22-Apr-16
Found after a long search

04-Mar-16
#7592. A nice drive to Kents Road in Reikorangi for a short walk to GZ. Other than the barking dogs in the neighbouring properties, the place was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Another trip through the Akatarawa road, and surrounds. Why do I do this? Picking up the odd cache here and there. This was one.
A straightforward find on this one. All in order; log signed, cache then safely re-hidden.
An otherwise undiscovered spot visited because you laid a cache here. Thanks for that.

Found this a couple of months ago, somehow missed logging it. May have the wrong Tuesday (after a walking group outing), but can't be too far out! An interesting area, out of the way and seldom visited.

05-Sep-15
A pleasant walk, after a few days of cloudy weather. The locals have done a good job here. TFTC.
