Spent about ten minutes getting shredded by blackberry bushes but couldn't find it

TFTC Anzac Mondane. Plenty of blackberries on this one, thankfully no black noodles with red bellies! Loved seeing the relics and never used aqueduct- maybe one day we’ll need them again
Awesome camo

Hi

28-Apr-21
Found at the end of a morning ride our along the Dungey Track and looping back along the West Kiewa logging road. What a day out and the second time i have done this loop ( first time 2 years back)

Having just plain forgot to search for this one 2 years ago there was not way i was going to leave without the goods. Clever hide as well.

Now for the ride to the bottom. That is mind blowing.

Unfinished business ... found this geocache in March but forgot to log it. Noticed we hadn't logged it while admiring all our smiley faces around Mt Beauty and working out where to go next.

Found with sjg66. Initially we were concerned it had been covers as the area to the left (as you approach) looked like it had been bull dozed, however as we looked around we couldn't see where the bulldozer had driven in? Very odd, maybe a lightening strike? Either way it was super recent as there were bushes and small trees smashed over, but still green.

Then once we looked where the GSPr said we should an easy find was made. The log was yuk, so have replaced it for the CO.

That took abit of finding in a very smelly area due to dead animals. We eventually found it but there was no log in the container. We have put one in,but the container is a bit wet on the inside.

Nice visit on Carol's walk with local walkers. Tftc again. Well bored but log is wet.

Quick find in neat holy stone. Too windy and wet for cross country skiing. Tftc

Good to see some effort put in to hide this cache so I've given it a favorite too.

After completing the "Vineyard View" cache we back-tracked to Mt Beauty before heading up the Bogong Plains Rd to the turn-off for the West Kiewa Power Station at "Cranky Charlies" corner. Once at the GZ we were hoping for some nice views but again we were disappointed as it would seem recent new growth has now obscured any views that were once there. I was tempted to go through the padlocked gate, which incidentally had some *13 padlocks* attached with one actually unlocked as I hoped to continue down Ropers Spur track back to the Bogong Plains Rd but ended up returning the way we came. Following the other track (West Kiewa Logging Road) didn't appeal to either of us today.
Anyway it looks like "Anzac_Mondane" has made quite an effort with this unusual cache hide and for that alone (and the fact it wasn't one of those dreaded non-waterproof Sistema boxes) I reckon I'll mark it as a favourite of mine.

Found after a lovely 5 days base camped at Howmans Gap doing Day walks on the high plains and concentrating on caching of course!
Thought we would grab this on the way home.
Good easy drive up here off the main road.
Mr Riddell decided to tackle the blackberries... blackberries 1: Mr Riddell 0!
While mrs Riddell quickly found this cache nicely tucked away.
TFTC and great views from the lookout while we were here.

Solid ride to this one! Nothing like a caching destination to keep those pedals moving. Like thepiggy back. TFTC

Today I was again up past Falls creek from Mt Beauty with one particular cache in mind, and a number of others along the way. I have been here before, for a previous cache that I couldn't find. Neither could anyone after me. Today I had more success and found the cache in a hidey hole just perfect for the container.

My thanks to anzac_mondane for the cache.

Find #8182**

Road trip time!! The plan was to drive the B500 from Bairnsadale all the way to Wangaratta, with a stop or two along the way, including a side trip to Mount Beauty and a bit of a walk to the top of Mount Bogong and back . The weather was looking like it would be fantastic for the next 3 or 4 days, so it was on!!

A bit of a drive out to this one, but quite a pleasant one. It was stinking hot once I had to get out of the car to find the cache. An interesting area here. A bit prickly at GZ, but cache was found without any trouble.

**Thanks to anzac_mondane for the cache. TNLN. Smile**

How very, very enticing. So you expect me to drive up this dirt road to find a location where a power station was supposed to be constructed???

Where to I sign up?

A fascinating back story as I read about the Kiewa Hydroelectric Scheme. It would have been an amazing creation if only WW2 and a later recession hadn't have been bought upon us.

However, it was scaled back when the Commonwealth cut funds to state schemes and redirected it to more national schemes such as the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme.

Anyway, the views on the way up were just amazing. I saw a wild dog running along the road not far from GZ. I heard that they were an issue around here but hadn't seen one before (yeah, I've seen a dog....not a wild one....well I have seen a dingo, oh forget it).

Soon enough I was here. A little creep really. I had a poke around and then found this cache in its snug little hiding hole.

TFTC.

Easy find unfortunately the container had quite a bit of water in it. Waited until things had dried out before replacing the container.

Fabulous drive up - great views - very clever cache hide - all in all a good morning to keep my streak going. Have to be disciplined not to grab too many on one day so that I end up running out of caches on my annual visit to the area. TNLN SL TFTC anzac mondane

FTF! Cruised up here this afternoon as I just noticed a new local cache. Was a bit worried about what the road would be like but my 2wd handled it fine. Love the perfect fit of the cache container in its spot! As I pulled up some Parks Vic staff were locking up the MVO gate further along the track, but after a friendly wave they were on their way and I had the place to myself. Took geocoin. TFTC
