Had a bit of daylight left after the Feilding Craft Market today so me and the small K9 set off to grab a few of these Mint TrailsNo lid on this, and fought a nest of spiders and other guardians (sorry lil guys) but log in good nick and cache, apart from being in slightly poor condition, is otherwise a great hiding spot! Last one for the night, getting dark and Im tired after a long day. Ill tackle the rest of these Mint Trails on another day. Mihi ki a koe, Popmac, mo te keteroki #428

Clever little find on our drive. Gets a favorite from me. All good at GZ and TFTC.

Grabbed it on an Adventuring day. No sign of the sign - just burnt remains of a vehicle.Worth another Favourite Point. TFTC

#2421. A nice warm and sometimes sunny Horowhenua afternoon, so when JustlookingOO offered her services as chauffeur and guide to help to boost my numbers for the Wheel of Challenges, I jumped at the chance. The mint tin trail seemed perfect, as I had decided to keep going for for the hard Challenge. Just 26 more finds required.

So, accompanied by JLOO and my muggle wwoofer Kristina from Hanover, Germany (who quickly got the hang of geocaching) we set off down the road.

Most of the logs were signed with (+ Kristina) to give her credit for helping the search. She may yet join the fraternity!

Tftc Popmac. Nice hide.

It’s school holidays, so we are on a mission today to grab the chewy mint trail caches plus others. 30 - 50 caches was our target (we got 33). Junior was pretty cooked by the end.

Thanks!

Chasing volume of caches found in a day with TrinityNZ and matagouri - this series perfect for that. Team name "JMT" was used in log.
A quick and easy find - nicely camoed container. TFTC Smile

09-Apr-23
Out and about on this fine Easter Sunday with JustLookingOO and matagouri north of Foxton to work towards some challenges, including 100 finds in April. Hoping for 50 finds today. JL and I travelled up from Waikanae, picked matagouri up in Foxton, grabbed some supplies, and headed off.

This was a tricky place to stop, being just over the crest of a hill, so the other two went to find the cache while I stayed in the car a bit of a distance away, and then returned to pick them up.

Thanks for the cache, Popmac. Log signed as JMT.

09-Apr-23
Today TrinityNZ, Just_looking00, and I gathered in Foxton early in the morning to launch an assault on the Chewy Mint trail, the KAS trail, and assorted others that we happened across. Our aim for the day was 30 (absolute minimum), preferably 50. Our total for the day was 53, so more than satisfactory. We signed all logs as JMT. Most of the caches were easily found, some were a little rusty, some had wet logs. Where we could, we replaced any dodgy logs.
Found after a short hunt. All good, tftc!

Work finished early and the weather was perfect so we decided to go out towards popmacs powertrail to get some of the caches we ran out of time for last time.

I wrote in the log and concealed the cache carefully back as found, TFTCSL. Thanks Popmac for this Traditional cache Thanks for helping us get one step closer of our goal of 500 finds!

Found the Fruit Trio! Think this is the hide that came just after GAR came to pick me up and drove past which had me disoriented and heading in the wrong direction (i.e. wrong side of the road), I'm not sure if it was this one or not because once in the car I didn't have the time to write my notes up - GAR was off to the next one almost before I sat down. Thanks for adding to my adventure this morning Popmac!

Thanks for the Mint Tin Trail caches! We had fun finding the ones down Wall Road. Lots of long grass to contend with had me pulling grass seeds out of my shoes and socks for ages afterwards! Haha.

On a weekend 'getaway', jo9ty and I wanted to pick up some caches to add to our number of finds. We saw this series and decided to give it a go. They were all quick finds and in mostly good confidtions. Tftc.

Today started out innocently enough, I was to make my way from Wanganui back home to Wellington. Because it's a long weekend I was in less of a rush than usual as we had another day off tomorrow (Labour Day) so I decided to find a few geocaches along the way, and then a few more, and a few more, and before the day was out I had logged 60 of them (that's a pretty good day for me). This was one of the geocaches that I found:

All good here, cache was found as described without any trouble.

Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this geocache.

I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's placing them that this wonderful game continues.

Another evening out caching with Zenla. Tonights mission was Wall Road, and a few others that caught our eye. Mostly successful finds, though several damp logs and/or damaged containers. Once again completely soaked shoes, should bring gum boots instead lol. Logs were signed as K&Z.

Easy find. Cache lid is missing but the log is still dry thanks to the object. Tftc

Heading down to Foxton Beach for a couple of days and had spare time to cache. Just finished what I could of the KAS power trail and now the Mint trail. I parked up my camper van at the cemetery and got out the bike. Personally love combining caching and cycling and it sure gets rid of the parking problem on these small roads. Aim was to do the whole circuit which I did achieve. Great variety of hides and caches. Must have taken a while to put it all together. Happy to see most of the tins are protected by other containers. I recently did a series of mint tins and they were so rusty that I struggled to open them. I didn’t realise there were so many flavours of mints. All but one of the caches were signable and several had new blank logs from recent CO maintenance. Thanks Popmac for the smileys. Nice to have so many in a row.

We did this area about a month in order to achieve the 72 cache finds in 24hrs. An achievement coin thats still out there in Geoshop land if you hunt hard enough! We were staying in Palmie for a couple of nights, so it seemed only logical to try and give it ago- we started late, and with 4 kiddos 12yrs and under, we thought- this is not going to be possible! But, despite a few DNF's at the beginning -and the negative vibe that gave us, we were determined to do it. 11.20am start, and we completed 65 of them by 5.30 at night- with a small lunch break on the side of the road and a few arguments in the car with restless kiddies- but a good haul! The last 7 were easily achieved the next morning on a morning walk along the Palmerston north River. 72 caches in 24hrs- whoop whoop.

20-Sep-20
I had been in Foxton in the morning and took the opportunity to grab a bunch of caches before heading back home to Wellington. As I was by myself I didn't want to "cache & drive" down these roads so I ended up covering about 12km on foot and grabbing a total of 23 caches on a beautiful sunny early spring afternoon.

Drove up to the Foxton area today with the aim of finding 20+ caches. This was one of 25 I notched up. 17 caches to be picked up along this road and around a couple of bends. Got them all bar one which I suspect has gone. Unloaded the bike at this point to cycle from one cache to the next. Good exercise! Another quick find. #2726. TFTC.

29-Jan-19
We had been thinking of doing this trail for some time but as we travel in a campervan we didn't know what the parking would be like and quite often time restraints meant we would put it off until now. we had the time and once we turned off SH 1 we realised the road was quite wide and the verges were flat. It was a very interesting trail and all cords were spot on many thanks popmac

Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. And then I found myself in the middle of a mint tin meltdown! A massive mountain of minty madness - and caches too! Apologies for the cut / paste logs. TFTC, Biggles.

On our way back from the Mega with TeamBOP.
As we did the KAS trail on the way down, the area was needing a few more smiley faces.

Throw down cache = throw down log.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there wasn’t a lot of down time but it was great to meet most of the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip.

22-Oct-18
Attending the Wellington MEGA, was great to visit from the sunny Bay of Plenty, my finds have been found with my team, and signed TEAM BOP, to save room on logs. We are really enjoying ourselves and its great to see so many different sights. Please excuse my generic logging in advance and there are sooo many logs to do. Many thanks to all you cache owners out there for all your hard work. Heading towards home today, so had to clear a few areas on the way. Cheers.

Another crafty cache container here. I feel like we're back in the north now with the gravel road. Thanks for the different variety of hides on this trail Smile

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Great little series here with very imaginative hides. Thanks for maintaining these.

After spending the morning at TwigNZ’s work we headed north to do the “Chewy Mint Trail”. With a total of 40 for the day, we were pleased with ourselves, and the fact that we obliterated our past record number of caches in one day made it all the better. We started at “Where have all the golf balls gone?” and ended the day with “Manawatu Rail: Buckley’s Wharf”.
Found the cache quickly after parking at GZ, the cache is all in order but the container is a little wet.

What a day! My son and I decided to go hard out today to see how many caches we could do in an afternoon. We were lucky enough to be blessed with glorious weather, when the forecast had been for showers, so that definitely helped us to get a great result
I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)

So we had decided in advance to hit the Chewy Mint Trail, plus a few other Caches along the way, and on the way home, to see how we got along.

The result all up was 40, of which this was the thirtieth.

Quick and easy find, and liked the cache holder. Signed the log as "T & T" for myself and my son (Thatweirdguy04).

Thanks for the Cache

Another stop on the trail today. Me on the bike, and Ms KR picking me up from the other end. The head wind was a pain so Ms KR picked me up and dropped me at this cache so I could have a tail wind again. YAY, Cheers

A day to get from Wellington to Whanganui. Time to find a few little boxes....

Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Apologies for the generic log — Team B&D are up from Wellington to do the 142 caches in 24 hours challenge. TFTC and a great set of power trails up here!

26-Nov-16
Planned a days caching around a goal of logging 120 caches today to obtain a ruby feat. Unfortunately some of the runs available I had already eaten into during normal
caching days which meant I had to target a few trails with 50 or more minutes travelling time between them, chewing up precious daylight hours.
Left home at 6:30 got back well after 9pm. it was a long day.
I targeted three areas, Bulls, Feilding, and Himitangi.

Nice little lake, another photo op for Maggie the travel bug jeep.

26-Nov-16
Today, along with D6NZ, we were attempting to get ruby in the "Dailey cacher" feat by logging 120 caches in a single day.
There were a number of trails in the area that we had already eaten into, so while we could hit pockets we lost precious time travelling as we ventured to each new hot spot. Today we planned on west of Bulls, north of Ohakea, skirting Halcombe and Fielding, then topping it off south of Himitangi.

This little lake stop was our 104th find of the day.

Cheers.

19-Nov-16
In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.
After a while we started playing "musical cars"- and would race each other back to the cars in order to vie for prime position.... or just to pip someone else at the post..... it was rather hilarious, mainly because of the creative ways of piling into cars or sneaking in just before someone else when you knew they were aiming for that seat. One or two people may have accidently (or not so accidentally) have got sat on!!!!!
We really enjoyed this trail, one of the few trails that we did.... and a huge thanks to the CO for the effort gone to in some of the creative hides!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.
TFTC!

19-Nov-16
Having flown into Palmy to meet up with fellow cachers this weekend to try for a big numbers day, and making our first find in the area just minutes after 8am we were on a roll starting this series next...
The series name was very fitting.....
Our goal was 200 finds today...

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.

Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.

But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

Logs signed as either “Team SEAC” or “SEAC” – South East Auckland Crew.

19-Nov-16
A mad group of caching friends decided to plan a weekend drive and stay in the Manawatu to grab as many caches as possible. With 5 adults squashed in one car and a family of 4 in the other, we soon started playing musical cars with kids and adults finding a car seat at random along the way, we only left someone behind once the whole day!! We really enjoyed this series, had lots of laughs, great company and some well constructed caches with awesome camo. Thank you Popmac for placing these caches. Sorry for the cut and paste log. TFTC!

19-Nov-16
We were caching today with a group of cachers that often cache together based in South and East Auckland. We call ourselves SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) to save space on log sheets. Today we were with darthcacher1, purply, NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ, Stik-a-crane and NewLynFam. We enjoyed this series and the cleverness of some of the hides. We just about lost one of our members down a bank at one of the caches - but he claimed he was just taking the quick way down. We had bumped into the CO of this series out the back of Apiti yesterday and so were even more keen to attack this series. Thanks for taking the effort to place the caches here.

Time to log our little trip to the Mega in Turangi. Enroute we detoured via Feilding for the Yumfest dinner, a night cache and a bit of puzzle gathering. Of course there were traditionals, a few multis, some earthcaches and lots of coffee stops to endure. Most found with bkj97, Edvern or the crew we stayed with in Turangi. Now of course the task of logging them all becomes a necessity. My apologies for the "cut and paste" logs. I will add favourites where I think it was particularly memorable. Thanks to all the cache owners for giving us things to do on our journey. It seemed strange to drive back to the Kapiti Coast post Mega without stopping for any caches. Happy caching. TFTCSL

Sanson Day2.
After finishing the KAZ trail, we continued onto the mint tin series. We also picked up others that we passed along the way.19461 This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.
The long grass made some of the caching today quiet difficult. I liked how the title included a hint.
We have enjoyed doing this trail so have given a favourite point for the series.
Thanks for placing this cache Popmac

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

Today I drove down to Foxton Beach for a more leisurely day of caching, with a focus more on numbers tomorrow. I worked on the Mint tin trail while in the area and made a quick find here. TFTC!

Since I was back in the region for a couple of weeks I decided a big day caching was on order. Calls were made and plans were put in place and Jesso22, Stardust 718 and I set off in my new 4WD to collect a heap of caches. The first cache was collect at 7am and last one just before 7pm. The final numbers came to just of 150 so a productive day was had.

For months we had been planning a 100+ day but the timing had just never worked out for us. Now with Christmas and all of our summer activities behind us and AtomsNZ back in town it was the perfect time! AtomsNZ arrived at my house at 6.45am with Stardust718 in tow and off we went on our mission. The day was quite successful, started with a few solved puzzles then on to the KAS trail and the mint tin trails before squeezing in as many caches around Foxton, Levin and Shannon that all three of us hadn't previously found. Final total was just over 150 (just to be on the safe side in case we made a counting error). Most caches signed as AJS (or JAS depending on who signed it) to save room in the logs as some were quite full. Thanks to all of the COs it was a great day with many great finds.

27-Feb-16
# 1025: I joined forces with AtomsNZ and Jesso22 for a 14 hour caching day. Found at 12:49:00 p.m. The main goal was the KAS trail and however many more nearby caches we could find. Our total came out at just over 150 for the day so we were all pretty happy with that. Thanks to the many CO's that made this day possible. We had a great time travelling lots of back roads.

Log signed as AJS (our team name for the day).

Another interesting way to hid the cache. Thanks for some variety.

I found myself saying "I had no idea Eclipse came in so many different flavours." - - - And we'd only just begun. - - - I had so much more to learn Red Face. What a pain it must have been having to try all the different varieties Wink. Liked the container Smile. TFTC Big Grin.

Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!Smile

With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.

Day 1: Foxton through to Bulls.

All good here, thanks for the hide.
