A late decision to come down to Ranfurly for a family funeral. Spent many many a school holiday down here as both my parents are from around here - and at the time both sets of Grandparents plus a lot of aunts/uncles/cousins used to live here. Not much has changed.
Funeral service & interment over...i tried for the few caches in the area before heading for home (CHCH) starting to rain hard now...fitting for a funeral......clearly didn't beat around the right bush. GPS wandering a bit...getting too wet...and the supermarket over the way was getting busy...gave up. Cheers.

Take 4
Came back in company with Coastalmartinis and Fluffy Unicorn but still no luck even with 4 extra sets of eyes

Quick find. Used to visit the 'milk bar' across the road in my youth! Thanks for the cache.
Sure the locals must wonder why people are poking their heads around the surveyor! Quick find without too many eyes...hopefully.
Didn't know the cache had been temporarily disabled and probably just as well I didn't as it is still there and in A1 condition. Reasonably straightforward find. Hardest part is not being observed. I sometimes think that the best plan is to simply do it as hanging around furtively just attracts more attention. Lots of plaques and info boards you can pretend to be reading. TFTC.
Looked long and hard but didn't find. I lost my geocaching pen somewhere there among the bushes. A new Uniball Power Tank eco. They can write on water sodden paper and the ink is pressure fed. Great general pen for geocaching.
We spent ages looking for this after biking on the last leg to Ranfurly , think it has been muggled
Had to come back a second time to avoid attracting attention
Couldn't find it anywhere
Will return with some cover

After a good nights sleep on a motel in Ranfurly we went to the I-site to make some bookings for the following days, and of course we also found this cache nearby .
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found this back in January - sorry for the delay in logging. Didn't take long to locate once the coast was clear. TFTC
This cache appears to be a replacement for a cache that lived in the same place a year or so ago. Logged it anyhow.
Quick find thank goodness. It was rather hot, the tar on the road was very sticky TFTC
Second time for a find here, found the now archived wallaceduo cache some time ago. Not sure if the cache was in the spot the hider intended. Replaced more securely but might not be the exact correct spot. TFTC.
Third of 5 for the trip back to Dunners. Most difficult part was avoiding muggle eyes again. I'd have to call a pill bottle a micro rather than small though. Good spot, TFTC!
Cheers,
G.

Yahoo FTF for us! Saw these new one out while in Palmerston & raced up the Pigroot to hopefully get here first!! TFTC
We happened to be in Ranfurly dropping off the daughter to catch the bus back to work... and Mr D saw a person behaving suspiciously over at surveyor John Turnbull Thomson's statue http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/1t97/thomson-john-turnbull
.. and Mr D said, they're trying to find the cache there, let's go and embarrass them. It was ernienz! Turned out the cache had been archived and ernienz was putting a new one in.
... so, couldn't resist... a quick grab, and (with permission) signed the back of the logsheet as a pre-publication find. Heh heh heh.
... and ernienz also told us the sad news of Oil Strike's passing on the 21st December 2014. A shock. Our thoughts are with Daffy Dill, Big Smoke and ardluiy. How Oil Strike would have appreciated this story - he and the rest of the Palmerston crew had a famous "naked FTF" of a cache before publication, back in the days before they owned a GPS. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC2GMW4_euphoria-otago
