Such a windy day! We decided to trek in forest so we chose Main Ridge Track starting from Lowry Bay and ending to York Bay. We liked especially that main track. TFTC!
Great day to be up here today! Thanks for the placement and bringing me here. Popular track today!
In this area today and drove / wandered round and grabbed a few caches as we went. Here having parked up we took advantage of the good weather and wandered up the track and found a few caches A quick find here - though looking for something a lot larger ( says regular - this is only just a small verging on micro !!!) TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
Another size Regular dot-day. And since I have been going over to Wainuiomata lately for these, today would be the same. Except that it isn't. Except that it is. I got off the bus after work (left work at 4pm) at the bottom of the Wainui hill on the Petone side. Got my feet out of my backpack, strapped them on and walked up the hill. Back down this track, which I have been a couple of times before. First was for the night cache, then back to find the bones of the old moa (that was a regular dot-day too) and now back for this one. A nice easy find at the junction of an old track - I wonde where it goes? One day I might come back and explore it.Anyway, signed the log and walked back down the hill, on the bus and home by 7pm. Just 72 dot days remaining. This might take a while. More than a year, I think.
Beautiful day for a walk along the ridge line. I assailed the wrong hint object at first but found the cache in the end. Log nice and dry. TFTC
Found a more goaty goat track than I should have first time round but got the right one soon enough!
Out for a leg stretch with today. Lovely and peaceful here, with hardly a breath of wind. Nice simple find as described, and all good in the cache. TFTC. KTG
Out for a wander along this track to check on my cache a bit further along. KTG and I decided to collect the other caches along this track at the same time. All good with the cache. Log was really dry. TFTC
Out and about this evening with the Seagnoid, ostensibly to have a go at the nearby night cache, but always great to pick up a cache or two if you happen to be walking close to them.
Even by torchlight, this was a reasonably quick find in spite of the co-ords being just a little out. The Hint definitely helps, although at night it's harder to identify species if you don't know their relative sizes lol.
All good with the cache, which I signed and replaced exactly as found. Thanks for placing this cache.

Found on a very warm day during my walk along the Main Ridge Track as far as the Ferry Track down to Days Bay I've been meaning for a long time to pick up caches on this route
All in good condition here TFTC

Out with TharntheHalken, getting some caches in Francis Bell Reserve. Found after a brief search. All good in cache, tftc!
Nice quick find before turning back to the intersection and heading down Howards Track. TFTC.
A quick find from a great description (my GPS was AWOL about 300m away and I got right to the cache while waiting for it to lock on again). Very snazzy container, all very dry inside. TNLN, thanks for the hide!
Paddle chick, Sir Belac and I as a team out caching around Wellington . What a great view. Thanks for this cache.
Short detour from the nightcache mission with GKMLB, Bullertrout, Sir Belac and Nanzie. Thanks Bush Scouts

We had been looking forward to this weekend for the past year, we first heard about it at the Geofest in Oamaru. We registered our will attend as soon as we could and then watched and watched as the numbers grew until it was at Mega status.
We had been to prize giving and wrapped up the event in Upper Hutt when we decided we would come and have a go at the nearby night cache. We had been out as a group and found another night cache last night, and we had had so much fun we were all keen to go out again. Paddlechick found this one after a short search. Then we carried on up the hill to find the start of the night cache.
Thank you for placing this cache and of course thank you for the smilie

For some reason this took me several minutes to find despite being in a place a geocacher is likely to look. I haven't seen very many of these containers other than my own caches (of which I have about half a dozen). Good to be on the finding end of one of these for a change. TFTC.
Thanks for the cache find. I believe the little goat track is the old Tawa track that has now been disused.
Cache # 4,148 - Managed to get in this afternoon before the rain hit. Came with Astro Hunter from the top of the Wainui Hill, so it was a pleasant walk, although even then with a bit of uphill involved. Cache was an instant find at the GZ, and all is well inside. TNSL. Left a TB. TFTC!

Took advantage of the good weather this evening to grab a few caches along the Wainui ridge-line. First time I've been along the tracks in this area for many years. As kids it was our route from home in Wainui to the beach at Days Bay during the summer. *TFTC Bush_Scouts #291*
Out walking the dog in the bush today, finding a few geocaches en route. Great hidden view from cache location, and a straightforward find, tftc!
Relieved to find this, after 2 misses on the walk up the hill. Very nice piece of beech forest, lovely walk. Left a token
I came up here after work. When I parked the car it was still daylight. By the time I got back to the car it was dark.
Luckily the cache wasn't too difficult to find. It is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

After three days sheltering from Cyclone Cook it's nice to get out and blow some cobwebs away. An easy find at GZ.

Poor Crystal Horse (my daughter's TB) had been stuck on this hill near Wainui for too long. The TB owner's brother released his TB on the same day as Crystal Horse entered the wild - and his one has made it as far as Alaska whereas Crystal Horse seemed doomed to eternity only 12km from home!! So, a rescue mission was in order. I headed off to LOOKOUT THREE, a very nice GZ on a great track. TB was soon in hand - she can spend Easter at home with us, then I'll drop her off in a tourist-friendly cache in Wellington.
#2971. Another lovely evening wander through the bush and another quick find
Dropped a TB for further travels.
Thanks for another smilie.

First successful cache on the trail today. Noce wee container and its contents are nice & dry too. ovely day for a an afternoon stroll, ut the track was a wee bit slippery in places. TFTC
In Wellington for the weekend staying nearby. Nice day for a walk and a view with a cache thrown in. Cheers for the cache.
Found while out collecting a couple of other caches in the area, *TFTC Bush Scouts, #8657*
Walked in from the top of Wainui Hill. First find on a stroll along the ridge track. TFTC
Find #2519. After two days of cycle caching, today was all about Shank's Pony and a bit of a work out on the East Harbour Hills. Came up from York Bay, heading back to Lowry, a round trip of approx 10km. Quick and easy find, very flash container. SL TFTC
The only time I spotted muggles on my trek from Wainui Hill to Point Howard would have to be just as I was about to arrive at GZ, about half a dozen people from what appeared to be a walking group. Managed to divert down the track they came up (the one I was going down but not till I had done the cache!) then waited for them to get past GZ and then I backtracked and found the cache quite quickly. Glad they didn't come along when I was at GZ as I would have looked a bit out of place, though as they were keen walkers I could have converted them to cachers
TFTC.

I was surprised to see that Robnz had been here on the same day as us! We must've just missed him. In one of his logs from today's excursion, he mentions a group of muggles out for a hike. We encountered two trampers at the signpost here. They were figuring out which way to go, so we pointed out the correct path, then carried on so I could find this cache. Of course, they soon caught up to us, so we lingered a bit to give them time to gain a bit of distance. While it's great to stop and chat to fellow outdoor enthusiasts, it's also nice to have the wilderness to oneself! TFTC. With Cassie 2010

On our way south along the Main Ridge track. Not much in the way of views today, plenty of low cloud instead. TFTC
#1078. Nice quick find. Fancy container. Signed dry logbook and left a TB behind. A bit of a view out towards Wainuiomata. Attractive beech forest in this area. Enjoying the morning walk from Point Howard. TFTC
Love the bush round here. Tempted to go further along the ridge line but time would not allow it today. TFTC
You know you've got an addiction when you look at the map after finding a cache and say "I'll just go a bit further up the track and get this one." That's what happened with me today. Always nice walking through beech trees. Another quick find. TFTC
The clue was very helpful in making this cache a nice quick find - however, Charlattack's backpack almost sent itself hurtling downhill on the steep incline. TFTC
Yep - got it. I had walked past it and was on the way back when I tripped over a root! Found myself practically staring at it when I got up. GPS gets a little slow when in the trees, and knowing what to look for is useful!
Found after short search. Had to back track. Helps if I look for the right tree too. Cool tin. Tftc
