While attending the nearby event, SocialClimber and I went for a walk to grab this geocache. What a stunning tree this is! Thanks, Pacmania
Caching around Canberra for a while longer. TFTC. A nice morning walk with an interesting multi.
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Pacmania! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 3 and we had an absolute blast, after an earlier night last night we got up early to head to Yass and the surrounding areas to cleanup a bunch of caches inparticular whereigos and our personal favourite the challenge caches. We stopped in Yass and completed some high quality caches before venturing back to the trails. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14854, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to Pacmania for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Well it is finally the official day of the Canberra Geobash Mega. After a couple of big days of travelling to Canberra and then the surrounds a more laid back approach will happen today,So after a great lead up event yesterday on the 4WD tour today will be spent collecting caches a lot closer to the event site.It is also great to catch up with friends from far and wide as that you only seem to catch up with them at these type of events. It was time to jump in to the Geocruiser to find some of the more local caches that arent within walking distance of the Mega site.A nice park for a walk and it looks like it has had an upgrade recently. The information required was collected on my walk through here and after some maths I had a set of coords that looked good.Off to GZ and the cache was soon spotted, signed and returned. Thanks Pacmania TFTC.
Here in Canberra for the Mega and we found your cache while exploring the area.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
WOO HOO - I found Valour Park while in Canberra for the Capital GeoBash. Thanks Pacmania for setting up and maintaining this cache for us to find. I enjoyed my stroll through this area.PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.
In Canberra attending the Mega event. Initially, I had planned to come alone. However, my son decided that he wanted to come as well. We arrived Thursday night ready to start early on Friday. Friday morning, we registered and received our goodies bag... first, my son had to complete the Bingo card and set to work asking everyone he saw if they could fill in something. Within an hour, he had completed the whole card.Next, he spotted the Space Hunt and declared that this would be our next challenge. He decided that we needed to complete the whole card. So off we set to collect 3 each of 8 different types of caches. We were down to our last 5 caches to complete our Space Hunt. We had 1 multi left to do. As we were staying at the nearby hotel, we decided to complete this one. We easily collected the information and made a quick find at GZ. This was a really interesting area. We have stayed in this area a bunch of times, and I had never realised this walk was here. We might make it a walk we do every time we come now. TFTC and showing us a new area.
Found it eventually lol. Multis are fun right? Thanks for the nice ride in the park.
I was in Canberra for GeoBash 2024 and had an amazing time today. I met up with old caching buddies and some new ones for epic caching fun. We solved tricky puzzles, found loads of caches, and even tried tree climbs. This is one of the caches we found today. Thank you for the cache!
After setting up camp for the GeoBash, we went for a drive to visit some local caches. We enjoyed visiting this park, and the info was easily found. Thanks Pacmania
A lovely park to wander through picking up answers for the multi. With a possible looking GZ we rode off to find the cache. Found with half The Morris with the plan of cycling the Majura Cycleway. TFTC Pacmania.
Finally we are in Canberra for the GeoBash.Today Mr Morris headed off with Pprass et al to walk Isaac Ridge and Lady Morris joined Geono for a bike ride along the Majura Cycleway. Different day, different experiences but all good fun.We enjoyed the wander through here and apart from "what makes up a seat" it was pretty straightforwardThanks for contributing to our holiday Pacmania
Found 27 Mar 2024 at 4:17:54pmArrived at the Mega site and got settled in, then headed out with Team Crumble for a lets see what we can find adventure. Many thanks to Pacmania for placing Valour Park for us all to find
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. There were many heads put together to solve some of these and many headaches created along the way.We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen.
Just like other recent logs we also found this while visiting Canberra for the Geobash Mega.We loved our visit and look forward to returning soon to find a few more that we didn't this trip. Thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches for us all to find. We had an enjoyable walk to all the wp's while completing this. Once we had the numbers for a final location we headed there and found the cache without any dramas.TFTC
Arrived at Canberra Park yesterday afternoon and took it easy, just the ad lab and the multi sausage solving to do. Today we were out on our bikes heading for the CCT trail, not doing it all just see how far we can get by 1200. Also picking up those caches that we pass. A good day had no DNF's which is a bonus when Canberra caching.Total Caches Found 15592TFTC Pacmania

F(H)ound It! #3856 @ 09:45 AMA straight forward multi that took me for a very pleasant stroll around the park.A bit of natural debris did not hamper the search too much once I decided which of the possible GZs held the prize.thanks for the cache Pacmania
Sydney to Adelaide Road TripDay One: Sydney to CanberraWeather: warm!!This cache was most welcome - I had just checked into the nearby motel, and this is a pleasant walk from there, no car needed. I like how you feel that youre at the very edge of Canberra here, with Roos watching on from the other side of the fence. Not a quick find for me, but mainly because I cant count and hadnt seen the checksum. I did this cache at sunset and had the park to myself. Thanks for this multi Pacmania, a favourite. Its officially a mega.GCA1DNA The Great Leap ForwardAdelaide, South Australia, February 29, 2024.Wed love to have your company.
Nice little park that we've driven past a million times and never really noticed! Cache and log in good condition. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Making my way from the MEGA back to Brisbane, I left Murrumbateman and headed to Canberra to collect some caches here.
After a lovely walk around the park I had the answers I needed, and after calculations I had a final which looked good. A quick find here, log signed, cache replaced as found.
Thanks Pacmania for the cache.

Last day of Cancon for Finalf29 and I only have a couple of hours before I have to pick him up... had a mixed bag of Virtuals, Multis, Trads, ALs and DNFs.
Well thought out multi and a nice easy walk to start the day. All info was easy to find and with numbers quickly crunched it was a short walk to GZ. Thanks

#794 Headed back out this way with Turtle after work tonight in hopes of finding a few caches. We headed to this one first and collected our data whilst having a nice stroll through the park. After putting together some coordinates we headed to GZ and made a quick find. Thanks for organising this multi Pacmania, brought me to a new place today
#2691 Enjoyed collecting the data with DT and moved in on GZ to find the cache safely nestled away. Thanks Pacmania for putting this Multi together.
Stayed nearby last night and enjoyed a pleasant morning stroll around the waypoints for this one. TFTC!
We collected the first two waypoints on the way to the Easter bingo event, before finding the last waypoint’s info and the hide towards the end of the event. It was a nice wander through Valour Park and a good history lesson. TFTC TNLN
Nice to see fellow cachers at the Easter Egg hunt. I actually signed it before doing the puzzle!
An early morning walk along Valour Park to do this meaningful multi. After sum check agreed it was a quick find at GZ, thanks CO.

I have driven past here thousands of times, but today was the first time I stopped and look. I had a very peaceful stroll.
Quick find of the cache. Logbook is a little damo, but still OK.
On the way back I ran into a friend walking their dog. So we chatted a bit and by the time I left it was nearly dark and the moon had risen.

JJ solved this one a while ago. While he was at work I ventured out to do a cache and a walk around LBG however a storm hit just as I got to GZ so I bailed on that one for another day and headed for home but found that this area didn’t have any rain. So a quick search before the rain hit this area and cache found. TFTC

Out for a little caching on my four hour window for adventure! Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between were a few traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to Pacmania for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

A beautiful 2.5km gentle loop walk through the reserve today as part of my daily lockdown exercise. I saw no less than 3 birdwatchers - quite some distance of the tracks, too - but only one reptile, and fortunately that one had legs (as opposed to the other sort).
This was a quick and easy multi as I returned to the carpark. Cache found at GZ without issue and in good, dry condition.
Thanks, Pacmania.

I collected the details for this back in May, but muggles were lingering about like a bad smell. Rather than wait for a boring and unknown departure, I headed off to return later.
Today I went out on a quick bit of exercise to make the grab. Once 2 walker muggles passed, I made a quick find where my first solution pointed. The cache was a bit damp inside, but the log was dry. Grabbed the pathtag - the first I've seen in about 2 years. Large mozzies buzzed around trying to insert their filthy probosces into me, so I signed and got out of there.

I am so impressed with the places that geocaching takes me. I obviously am always in too much of a hurry to get out of town or too much of a rush to get home. I didn't even know this park existed let alone why or what it commemorates. It is a very peaceful park despite its location and I will come back one hot summer's day as I am sure it will be lovely. The place was teeming with bird life today - mostly small birds including grey fantails, jenny wrens and yellow rumped wrens.
Thanks for bringing me here, and yes I found and signed the cache. TNLPt

Even though this cache has been around for years now I somehow had never gotten around to find it. Today I finally remembered and walked in to do the cache.

A last minute pickup after the Caching Event in this park earlier, and before catching up with friends down the road.
I finished collecting the data with Akayem and Wilbert67 with my iPad dying just as GZ had been calculated- phew! Then, off to GZ where we found that there was lots and lots of very heavy bark shedding all around. We spread out to search and Akayem made the find under loads of bark and sticks. A hard and great find given the environment. The cache had been returned with care minus piles of bark.
Lovely to meet Wilbert67, and catch up with Andrea again. Loved the questions for this cache as it makes you very aware of the park's purpose. TFTC Pacmania.

Unsure if the cache is here or not, considering the almost year since the last attempt, Jemalong&family and I decided it was likely to here anymore and of it was it would have been buried in the ankle high leaf and bark litter. Lovely park though and keen to try again another time.
I liked this multi, it took me to a spot that I haven't been before. The coordinates that I came up with were pretty wrong. But then searched The nearby tree and found . TFTC Pacmania. Favourite awarded.
I really enjoyed this multi - it took me to an interesting area not previously discovered, which is one of the joys of geocaching. Once I determined GZ I was then a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to find the cache given the amount of bark/gum tree debris, but a check of the hint and a perusal of suitable indents around the circumference of the tree came up with the goods. TFTC - fav point added.
Easy solve and find in a group of 7 after a nearby CITO. OCW MA, BM, TB, JM, TH & SB14. ?? TFTC Pacmania
With my original plans for the long weekend being cancelled, I decided on taking a look at Geo-events that were around. I discovered a nearbyish CITO in Canberra. I had a bit of a catch up with people while also meeting lots of others for the first time. Nice to meet/re-meet you all. After attending the event a group of us took a run around the area collecting caches that have been on the solved plie for quite some time plus a few lone caches that were nearby. Most of these caches were the newish Harry Potter mystery caches. Even though I don’t like HP, I do enjoy caching. After we went our separate ways I took the opportunity to take quick snapshots for the GCA ‘Watson Testline Trig-points’. That gave me an extra 11 finds added to my GCA finds total. Next it was time for some grub before leaving Canberra. Earlier in the day I received a couple of emails telling me of some new caches one of which was on my way home in Binalong a quick stop off here and a FTF was made. Just as I was getting into my car someone else pulled up behind me and I met TheTreeWhisperer for the first time. Nice to meet you. After getting home, I had some dinner and ask Swimmagurl if she would like to join me to attempt a FTF out the Wagga road. She agreed to come and when we arrived at GZ we made a quick find. The only question remained was it a joint FTF? When opening the logbook we found we were the FTF. Now time to head home again. TB visit on all caches and on logbooks/sheets, I signed as 24/1 JM, 24/1 JohnoM or 24/1 JohnoMawbs depending on the size. Most caches were quick finds and a great day was had by all. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today for placing them so I and others can enjoy. TFTC’s and TFTTP’s

This one is quite contentious for me - I had a different number for WP1 as I was schooled something different to Pacmania as to what constitutes a word. Either way the checksums showed me my "mistake", and just as well as I didn't like the idea of the more distant yet also totally plausible alternative.

Left Port Macquarie heading south to the Mega event At Canberra.
A few days stopping at the EPIC.
A nice quiet walk along the track picking up the answers required. Just a short walk then to collect the final
Spent a morning around the lake, hubby rode his bike & I wandered to find a few caches.
We then had a tourist trip to the mint where we had to spend $3 & turn it into a $1 ( were so smart)
The afternoon was seraching for caches not far from the EPIC.

I deliberately stopped past here on the way home in order to get another multi to help me get closer to my Bronze Multi Cacher badge on Project GC. I had the geoson with me and we walked around and collected the required information. Then I took him for a walk up the slopes of Mt Majura to collect a mystery cache I had previously solved before we circled back around to find the cache for this multi. An enjoyable stroll around for both or us. TFTM
Staying at the nearby budget hotel, which I would happily recommend, I got up for a morning walk and multi that I started last night. Nice and easy...just the way it should be.

Stopped in last night, or actually in the very early hours of this morning really on our way home. A newly placed cache found then dodged the many kangaroos that were in this area as we walked through the park back towards the car parked outside the Federal Hwy entrance. Had to get out of the house for a little bit! So, brought the sick geodaughter with me to get some fresh air. Nice straight forward multi with no ambiguous answers. The walk was long enough for two slightly not feeling well people and GZ was a suitable distance away and the cache was found all safe. We saw the biggest stumpy tail lizard on the way to and from the park, which made us forget our woes even more. Tftc!!!
Found with Decrypter. We parked near the Watson entrance and followed the waypoints. No trouble getting the necessary info to calculate the co-ords for GZ. Once there we soon had CIH. Thank you for bringing us to this memorial park. TFTC.
