The cavity where the cache was hidden has been mostly filled by burrowing rabbits. Another cache will be created in that area.
I have been keen to get back out onto the bike and to tackle the caches i and around the M80 bike trail, United Hill and the Plenty Gorge park lands. Circled around the tree stump...poked and proded all surfaces. nooks and crannies...checked the activity logs and hint. Still no luck...so I unfortunately join the recent string of DNFs
Checked everywhere including most of the holes. Even in the most obvious spots
Kato Potato and I had booked accommodation in Mill Park for the Whittlesea MEGA event.....non-refundable accommodation which thankfully opened up to us regional Victorians this very week. Despite not being able to attend the now-cancelled MEGA, we got back in the saddle of geocaching and realised how much we'd missed it in 2020.
Well, the clue didn't really help much nor did the thorny surroundings of the grand stump, but Kato spied the goods. TFTC Ron.haha

After a particularly long caching hiatus thanks to COVID-19, Mummy Short Legs and I finally got to hit the road again for our annual caching weekend away. This weekend was originally planned to be celebrated with the nearby Mega event, cancelled for obvious reasons. We still had an accommodation booking though and thought waste not, want not! A great weekend away and an opportunity to just enjoy the area.
Number 2 find for the day. Had us dodging around a lot of rabbit holes and roughly cut back brambles. Hilariously baffled by the clue but we found the sucker with a bit of circling. Glad we didn't have to put our hands in any of the darkest spots. Thanks for the cache Ron.haha.

A terrific day for my first geocaching outing in nearly four months, and the first time I had visited Plenty Gorge.
This was the second cache of the day. I suspect this one may have been a bit easier to get to than at other times when it was probably more overgrown. I see it has had a few recent DNFs and it did take a little finding. Trust the hint, ignore the most obvious spot and you should find it. TFTC

22/12/2019 12:48 I pulled up in some shade near the path and as I made my way, the phone GPS pointed to the obvious GZ. Once there I saw something very quickly and it was indeed the cache, though its odd to find one of these in this location. I assume it has been re-purposed. TFTC Ron.haha TNLN SL
Took us a while to fine it and were looking at the wrong side of the tree. Almost called it quits, then I found it! Good hide!
3rd attempt at this cache has finally payed off. Unfortunately the cache was just laying in the open, which made it too easy. Box now back in its rightful place.
Third time lucky. I guess it really had me stumped! Found some rabbits running. Not sure if it was us or the fox that scared it. The cache must have fallen as it was in plain view but its now back where it belongs.
This was a DNF from a while ago, but today it was just lying there in plain view.

Someone must have told the bunnies it's spring - they were out in force today, but they didn't give away any spoilers. Thanks for the cache!
A cool stump, looked for a while and then read some logs which helped greatly. Day1976 got out his magnetic stick.
Ilukaperi and I were on our now regular Sunday caching run, this time our sites were set on Plenty Gorge, because there are plenty of geocaches, plenty of hikes and plenty of GORGEous views (there was also PLENTY of fun, laughter, dad jokes and resounding groans).
This was our first find for the day after a DNF on the previous one (which was rectified later in the day). I tried out my new caching tool, a retractable magnet/mirror, which didn't really work very well. In the end the cache hunt concluded the way it often does.
Ilukaperi: I think the cache is in there, but I don't want to put my hand in
Me: Why not?
Ilukaperi: Because there's probably poisonous spiders and stuff in there. You put your hand in
Me: ???
Ilukaperi: Well go on, hurry up.
Me: *puts my hand in*
And that's how we found this cache.
TFTC!

I was warned that there are poisonous spiders in Australia, thus I was not too keen to reach in where I finally reached in. Luckily it was a mint can and not a spider...
Thanks for the hide.

Hmmmmm. In answer to the question posed in the description, I'd offer 'Dunno, but shorter than this.' The rabbits and lack of rain have turned this area into something of a wasteland, and this 'stump' fits right in. Some nice bushland nearby though. Thanks ron.haha for bring me here.
A very tricky hide, but we were not tricked. Found while out caching with Shufflehop. Great spot.
Found @12:00pm after looking in all the obvious places. Decided to stick my hand where I didn’t want to and ended up feeling the magnet. Got the torch and a magnetic stick and managed to pull the cache out of its den before signing the log and returning it to its rightful resting place. TFTC
After driving past this area several times we decided to make a day of it exploring the gorge and surrounds. This is some surprising bushland seemingly in the middle of suburbia. With Jacko and Anikano we wandered around by car and on foot, through rain and shine, ending the enjoyable day out with **plenty** of finds.
We started off here and were stumped for about 5 minutes too while too. Luckily Jacko was on the mark and called 'Bingo' as we were about to give up.
Thanks Ron.haha.

I like to mix my caching up, so today decided to head somewhere new. That big piece of bushland I always happen to drive past on the way to the Yarra Valley! An awesome day out with Geobuddies Anikano and Pacman. Can't beat the feeling of cleaning out a park! Thanks to the Co's for all the efforts in placing these caches
Very tricky hide that had us for a while! I felt around a not so obvious spot, and came up with the hide. Very clever and good start to the day, Cheers!

After a few weeks of local caching it was time to hit the road again to try and clear out a new area. No one i’d rather be out caching with than geobuddies Pac-Man and Jacko83. Even though the bureau stated rain was to be expected we took the risk. Glad we did as the small bits of spitting rain we experienced were actually welcomed as we totalled 25km of walking all up as we set out to grab every cache out in this paradise amidst suburbia.
This did stump us for a little while until Jacko83 came up with the goods! Our first for the day. Only the first and second caches we found really had us stumped! TFTC

The next couple of days and the past week were not suitable for a walk but this particular day had a forecast temperature of somewhere in the mid to high 20s just perfect for a walk. I contacted n0w0rries and nirgalagrin to see whether they'd like to get some exercise and both replied in the affirmative.
So we all spent the next few hours in the southern part of Plenty Gorge Park walking along the extensive bike trails and crossing over the creek a couple of times.
All in all a top day with both n0w0rries and myself finding a nummber of caches whilst nirgalagrin could only log a select few seeing as he had already found the bulk of them.

A big day out in Plenty Gorge with leafotwind and nirgal.
Many caches found during a 6+ hour wander here this afternoon.
**Beware the blackberry**
The notice on the way in warned us not to eat any of the fruit growing in this park.
We thought it was just referring to the blackberries until we came to the orchard much later...
Thanks for this Ron.haha

Tough find, it was on the opposite side of the tree than we thought. We had to get a bit handsy to find this (phone camera and flashlight) and the magnet didn't make it any easier good hide!!
Great hide, I loved the hint so many cute rabbits there as well
This is my first time coming to this park, and probably the most north I’ve ever been in Victoria (apart from the airport). Such an amazing area, practically buzzing with wildlife, I only explored a small part of it and I’m definitely gonna be back soon!

Cache checked and replaced into its correct position. Picked up the tiny trackable that was there.
Yay, this one took longer than I thought it would and GeoSon came through with the goods.

With another day off to keep my annual leave days low so as to be given bonus holidays I headed out on the bike in the perfect overcast weather so no sun screen was required. I had never been over this area of the city and was keen to check out this bushland and it's surrounds. Much steeper than I expected in some locations but some cool caches were found. It was awesome on Monday with virtually no muggles where ever I went compared to sometimes on the weekends when it is crazy.
Took a couple of minutes until I found an unexpected type of hide. Nicely done.
Thanks Ron.haha for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Found after a bit of a search. Nice hide. Left a pen back in the office.
Thanks for a nice place to visit

Found it. I put the logs in a plastic zippy to make it easier to get out. Such a sneaky hide. SL

We celebrated a daughter's acceptance into a course she wants to do, and as the pub is near the M80, I decided that is go east a little for today's cache. Darkness had just descended when I pulled up in the nearby street, and I startled a few roos on the way to GZ.
This time, I had the leisure to check more thoroughly than the previous couple of visits, and there it was. Finally, I can say I'm no longer stumped.
Looking at the mechanism, I realised that it was slightly out of position, so, after folding the log sheet for a better fit, I found where it should have been.
Ron.haha, thanks for a fun cache. Third time lucky, eh. Oh, and that's day 24 covered.

Not the kind of cache I was expecting. I assume it's a reused container because of the magnets? Tftc
Final cache in the park for the night. Thanks for placing these caches that gave us a good way to end the last year and a good way to start the new one.
After a number of attempts finally found ( or more of the point my wife found it) . Not were I thought it was. TFTC.
Our 2nd dnf in 3 cache searches this arvo, nothing HAHA ABOUT THIS RON! lol. In the obvious nooks and crannies we searched, we felt, we photoed, we got a tott out and all to no avail. Grrr, onto the next one.
Fantastic hide, we found this fairly easy but only if you look in the right place. A bit of work went into this hide.

TFTC. Walking over to the cache and there was a big male roo standing right there guarding the cache, was hoping he would move before we got there because he looked intimidating! Got to within 10 paces of him before he left, leaving the cache for us to find. I was searching in what I thought was the obvious place when ms-raisin calls out from the opposite side "found it". Very clever hide.
No luck with this one today. Needed a good torch as we were sure we knew where it would be. Loved the old tree though.
Has me stumped. Tried to get this one at the end of a long day, thought it might be easy but no luck. Checked a few spots, but too many people out walking their dogs, so I didn't stick around. I'll have to try again later.
Out caching with GJMMelb and quiet1_au this afternoon. As I don't like feeling in spots where I can't see, I used my phone camera to check out a suspicious spot. And there it was! G helped with the retrieval. TFTC
Well there was no mistaking this hiding place, but all the same it took lochb, G' of GJMMelb and I a little while to track it down, lochb making use of her phone camera to spot the cache and G' retrieving it with the aid of a found tool. TFTC
Found with Lochb and Quiet1_au. We walked a short distance to Gz and looked high and low. Eventually L used technology to spot the cache and I retrieved it. Thanks Ron.haha

First find of the day with the whole gourmet family. We were greeted by 11 kangaroos - what an incredible spot! TFTC.
Finally get back here with geo daughter, and geo granddaughter, still took me way too long looking for something that was not hidden, just should follow instinct, and look in obvious place first, Thanks Ron.haha, another of your hides with a smiley
