With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... For convenience, we group signed the logs H(untly) R(otorua) T(auranga) (or P(apamoa), depending on who signed and how heat-addled we were at the time...) We've been planning a raid on the Awhitu Peninsula for some time, with a view to clearing the area of caches... It's time to execute this mission.
Day Two: This hide was horrible. We grid searched much of the bush several times. We must have excited the mosquitoes, because they attacked us in droves. It was so bad, just clapping hands squashed and killed several of them... We gave up on this one and invite the CO down to confirm that this is actually here.

After searching for about 30 minutes, the three of us, GeoRick and I had to give up. How is everyone else able to find this one, but not us?
Out for a great days caching with Agazo on a sunny day. Had what we thought was a good look around. Unfortunately we could not find this one.
Out in the general area as there were 3 new caches published this morning. After finding those with thejaybees we stopped for some coffee and foodfuel before working our way around the local area for some more caches.
Took the walk across the area and found the path. Noted where we should be looking but had no idea what the hint meant. After a few minutes with bugs around (laval is quite allergic to certain bites) and loads of really big spider webs I decided I can't find them all at once and will now have an excuse to come back another time.....

Nice walk in the area after lunch; after looking at a couple of possibilities for where the cache could be settled on one and fortunately found quite quickly under the leaf litter. Cache is still one good condition. TFTC.
I took the slushy wander from the end of Edgewater.
The grass is lovely and green,
but after all the rain the ground below is waterlogged
Closer to GZ I wandered into the trees,
and after poking quite a few,
found the cache
TFTC and scenic stroll between houses and mud
I took the "Taranis-Coin" trackable with me

Caching with the phone so was a little slow getting to the right spot. The geocaching instincts came in handy. Pleased that the rain shower had passed so we could get this one without getting too wet. TFTC
A nice place for a walk down by the waters edge. It was an easy find but took some time to locate the correct tree. TFTC
Today was a chance to go caching with Mrs Dragon. It doesn't happen that often as the places that I tend to go are often too wild and rugged for her. As it turned out many of these roads we travelled it was a case of us both enjoying the drive, the countryside and stormy windy weather, and I going to retreive the cache.
Nevermind was still a day full of memories that make up caching.
This was the twenty first of the day after passing through Waiuku heading for Awhitu Peninsula and South Head, it was now time to start heading back down the other side of the peninsula and back into Waiuku. A few quick ones before heading back home. Short walk to GZ and the cache was soon located all good.
Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

Only had to walk through the trees for a short while before finding this cache. Now the run back to the car in the rain.....
#11632. A bit of rain had started falling, but we didn't get too wet getting too or from the cache. TFTC.
The weather forecast for the next few days is for rain, so we decided that today would be the best day to drive up the Awhitu Peninsula to the Manukau Heads. This is an area that neither of us had visited before and it was an interesting journey.
After "caching out" the Awhitu Peninsula, we headed into Waiuku to find a few caches and to find some dinner. This was the first find and I was hugging the wrong tree when StreetWalker made the find. TFTC.

I only had previous 5 logs downloaded in my pocket query. I hate it when someone else has said "found it in the first place we looked". It wasn't in the first place I looked, nor in the last place I looked. Eventually little black biting things scared me away. Now that I'm home and can read more of the previous logs it's obvious that my error was believing the GPS coordinates.
Caching our way in Franklin district. Busy and bustling with holiday activity.
Happy to make the find after a short walk into here. We had experienced a string of DNFs prior to making the find here.
The cache was a straightforward find. All in order; log signed, safely re-hidden.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

A group of us decided to spend a very sunny and warm day in Waiuku today, finding caches. A much better option than joining the crazy Christmas traffic and crowds in town!
We didn't have too much luck with the previous two caches we tried to find in this green belt/park along the water front, but this cache was quickly found by Newlynfam and we were relieved that our geo skills weren't actually faulty after all! TFTC!

Made the trek out to Waiuku today with some of the usual gang, in order to find a few caches, visit the Christmas display (Mrs HeMaLuDy took the kids) and have a picnic lunch together.
Walked along to this one after two DNFs at the caches on the way to this. UncleSamNZ navigated, getting us close to GZ, and we headed on in to make the find pretty quickly, in the first spot we looked. Nice to have a smiley after the sad faces!
Log signed as "SEAC" to save log space (South East Auckland Crew) our team name when we cache together, as we often do!

Didn't have to bush whack as much as I thought based on the gps coords, found it coming back down the hill. Signed cache note as log missing. Also mozzies!
You really need to read the name and description for a reasonable chance of finding this. Our reasonably young GPS was 8-10m out in direction. A wide area is being trampled with people looking. No log, we signed the cache note as had the previous people to find it. VERY WET. Needs attention.
Gps sent us wild so followed clues to another successful find. Beaut day for it. Tftc.
Chilly ol day! Made my over the grass to GZ and after extending my search somewhat I finally found the container. However there was no log in it so I signed the blurb paper. I usually carry paper with me too...
This one took a little while. Bad gas signal here so go by the clues, not the gas on your device.

with a bit of a hint (thanks Tufty) we nailed it this time, after lots of mozzy bites and zero cache last time we reversed it and got zero mozzy bites and 1 cache!
Yay found this one after a little search and signed the log book. Just ever so slightly damp. The area smells like poo !!!! TFTC TNLN SL
I was stumped for a while until I got sick of the mozzies eating me so I PAF. He gave me enough hints for me to locate the cache. As I emerged from the bush I heard voices saying "it is around here somewhere". Nice to meet up with abp787, a team of 5.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
tryed this one again today with still no luck gps keeps sending me up into the bush, last time i did this one a lady from a house above the path told me the bush was there property,so ether the co-ords are still wrong or this cache is on private property.wont be back for this one.
Thanks to the hints got there real quick, lovely place to explore, all good
Thanks!
Thanks!
after 30 minutes of searching for this one i gave up.gps kept taking me up into the trees ,then i looked at the hint and started searching where geosense told me to look but no luck ether i gave up again and went home.maybe another time.
Yesssss FOUND IT. Unfortunately not where my gps was taking me. Read the details and geosenses took it from there. Took TB will move it along soon. Out today to find oldest geocache in auckland. Found with hildeez14.
Newbies couldn't find it.
Mozzies were gigantuan sized. We suggest industrial strength killer is required.
Both Mr and myself are bitten beyond belief!!!

Don't get the "hugging tree" reference but TFTC. Used to spend a lot of time in this park walking the dogs and the kids when they were little and we lived near by.
spent a long while having a good search, no luck for us, but got lots of mozzie bites to prove I was there

After going to the posted coordinates and realizing that they were in a place that I didn't want to go based on the last DNF entry, I used mike-miss' coordinates and came to a place where the poetry made sense. Unfortunately, I didn't get my hands on the cache. And to add insult to injury, I couldn't find where I parked my car since I came out on Riverside instead of Edgewater.
Have confirmed mike-miss co-ords and added a pencil to the cache. Description slightly edited to hopefully make it a bit easier to find
In the area today finding these new caches since our last visit. Headed over here and quickly realised the hint/description didn't quite match up with the location. Spotted an area needing further investigation so headed over in that direction. We soon realised that we were now in the right area and that the coordinates are a long way out.
A few minutes of searching and we came up with the cache 85m from the recently amended coordinates. Very glad to sign this one off the list, TFTC!

Back in for a cup of coffee and hello another new Waiuku cache. Arrived and parked and walked a bit. The coords were a way off for me but I was using my phone. Coords had me on the wrong side of the track 25m away and you will see where I have been................dont go there its the wrong spot. Thought about things and re read the cache description and it was a short while later I found the cache. It was out in the open and I have covered it but it is still in view. If it had been fully covered it would have been a DNF. Thanks for placing the cache and for the pleasant walk. FTF 54 for this old fella.
