Today we drove to Bowser and unloaded our bikes to enjoy a day of caching and riding in this beautiful Spring weather. We packed a picnic to enjoy somewhere along the way.It was a bit too early for our picnic lunch but we enjoyed the scenery. The log is very wet but signable. Thanks Bingley3683 for the cache.
Out on the bike today with our middle geokid. I've been eyeing off this trail for ages now but just haven't had the opportunity. Today was the day, planned to try get half done starting from Bowser station, this will depend on how the little man's legs go. We ended up not quite halfway but made some good progress, only 1 DNF. A fun ride, we are keen to get back and finish off. We had lunch here, and afterwards we spent too long looking in the wrong spot. Then eventually worked out where we needed to be.TFTC!
Hello Bingley3683 thank you for the cacheAn afternoon walk to see how many I could find before my legs give out. This one took a little time before I found it.I found this cache during our Newcastle 2024 trip to see the grandchildren.Found on Saturday, 04 May 2024 at 1516**TFTC**
Starting looking in the wrong spot! Duh!! Got it eventually. We are out on a Sunday drive/stroll in the Autumn evening before the winter cold sets in! Thanks BettyBoo3747 for hiding and maintaining this series.
Heading home from Albury after a caching in Canberra with friends. Nice quick find. I was tempted to drive over the bridge, but didn't in the end, and walked to the next one.
Many thanks to Bingley3683 for the cache.

Exploring rural Victoria as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.
This is my first trip outside New Zealand caching and enjoyed getting this cache with Team SPINZ tftc
This one took longer than it should have - thats the great thing about caching with a team. Teamwork makes for dreamwork - and so it was here. This is where we came across the first cyclists we had seen all day so far. Kia ora from Aotearoa/New Zealand. TFTC # 18,980
Found on our Rutherglen Mega trip, all logs signed as SPINZ (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from NZ). Sorry about the cut and paste logs. TFTC

Out for a short bike ride today to pick the first part of this trail. A lovely track to be heading down. For some reason there are some dead fish near the cache which made looking for this one not a very pleasant experience. Luckily the cache didn’t take long to location and I was soon on my way. Tftc!

Had a nights accommodation booked in Wangaratta as my geohusband had a jet fighter plane flight booked. When the flight was cancelled due to the weather forecast we still made the trip up and hit the rail trail for some caching. The plan was to do as much of the trail as we could. TFTC
Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.
Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way. Some finds were nice and quick and some took a little longer, but in the end, we found most.
Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away

Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.
Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.
Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.
All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.
Another one picked up while doing the rail trail.
Thanks for the hide and maintaining Bingley3683

I jumped in and gave a hand for a quick find.

So excited to be attending my first MEGA and to be out and about after what seems like ages. Have been working very long hours for the past few months on the pandemic front so to have a few days for caching seems like an absolute luxury.
Great to meet new faces and to spend caching time with some familiar cachers as well.
Thanks to Bingley3683 for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Well I was almost right but PAF was needed for the final push. Took a trackable and left one!
In Wangaratta for the Mega, we traveled over early so we could get some local caching in. After stowing the shop in a storage shed so it wasn't bouncing around in the back of the car we set up in the caravan park and can now cache and explore. Today we headed out early to beat the heat but also we were on a timeframe! We stopped here for lunch and then went off in search of the cache. Tried there...nope...Tried There...nope...Tried There...Bingo!! took the tb to further its travels TFTC

Was out riding the trail with Robmc and Betty Boo, both of whom had done this one previously. We had smoko and lunch (on our return), here. My companions had a longer smoko than I.
Thanks Bingley.
Thanks Bingley.
After an initial search failed to locate the cache we decided to have lunch at this beautiful spot. The river is flowing nicely after the recent rain. I then decided to have a better look from a different angle and quickly spotted the prize.

Rode the rail trial from Wang to Beechworth for 50km on a cold winter's day. Was hoping the sun would come out, but no, it didn't.....temp didn't get higher than 8 degrees. Lucky I was dressed appropiately and prepared for the day. Not many riders about either, which is surprising! Over thought this one. Too early for a picnic lunch though. TFTC
Found but in the end was easier to spot than to retrieve.

Looked and looked. Then had another look. Finally read a previous log and finally found it.
Today we loaded up the bikes on the back of the car and traveled a bit further from the caravan park in the pursuit of the elusive yellow smilie! We had identified the rail tray as a great place to start, and with the magnificent weather Wangaratta is putting on for us we were looking forward to the ride. Needless to say we weren't let down. Lovely scenery, interesting spots to stop for a look around, and lots of smilies for us to log. All in all a great ride- 5 km out and back to the car, a bag load of smilies including a multi or two and only one DNF (until we got back to town that is!). Tomorrow we head back home, but would like to say thanks to Wangaratta CO's for the fun they have provided us. Very much appreciated. We will be back, hopefully before the mega for a few days.

That was a great hide. Probably easier than I thought after a few minutes and no luck. Nice one. TFTC.
The start of our big day riding the trails. It was cool in the morning but became very warm later in the day. The container was found just where the numbers took us, signed in and we moved on after our picnic.

What i thought was going to be straight forward ended up being a fun find, thanks
We found this ages ago, and I have only just noticed we haven't logged it. Out with backpaqer and monch's mob. Thanks.
Found while in the Wangaratta area on a geocaching mission. Started following part of the E2W PT and attempted most of the one I could access from a road. TFTC.
We had morning tea nearby as we cycled along searching for every 2nd cache, then we had lunch here on the way back. TFTC
Found with jackez74 on a beautiful day, driving along adjacent lane making the finds. The cache was finally spotted from the right angle, then had to cross the creek in 2WD the creek had a bit of flowing water, it was a little sandy but all was well. TFTC
Off the mountain and out of the valley for a change. On the way to Melbs with yet another detour but what’s new! Time to collect this little pocket of caches before the next rain event makes it too soggy an outing. TFTC
Had started on the"Mystery in the Museum" series while I was on the NSW North Coast and I was keen to try and finish today with a souvenir. I needed two jewels to start with and then he 35 caches to finish the series. I thought the rail trail around Wangaratta (and then in town) would get me the numbers I needed. And so it proved to be the case but I had to stop at Chiltern on the way home - I got away later than I hoped (had family tasks to do before heading off) and had more DNFs than I would have liked (some I logged - a few I was a bit rushed so was probably my cache blindness so didn't bother with these). I also ended up with 6 Multis (just) and that is half of another BB3747 challenge done (might try at Corowa for the other day). It was a beautiful day in the North East - the predicted strong winds did not eventuate - and the geohound and I enjoyed our wandering in this pleasant (and now green) part of the world.
Decided to see if I could turn some of these into park and grabs to save time so headed along this track but got stopped before the creek crossing here (the geomobile may be big but it is 2WD and I didn't fancy that sand). Scaled a fence and then walked the trail - GPS was not pushing me towards what I thought would be the hide from a distance. GPS was taking me all over the place and it wasn't until I looked from a different angle that the good sized cache became clear. Took a few big steps and the log was then signed. Replaced and then headed on the trail.

Found with tassie expat while exploring this nice area. Thanks for placing this series.
A quick find once frmen1 made the big step (my post-op knee can't do that yet). Walked this gentle trail from the nearest road. This is my maximum before turning around. I'll be back to my 10-20kms soon. Then we'll have to come back. Contents in good condition. TFTC
Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. Thanks to everyone for all the cache placements, and also thanks to Nigel for the bicycle hire and shuttle service. Cheers and TFTC
This was a nice little spot for a quick stop for a breath, plenty of shade here but I'm afraid a bit barren of water.
The picnic area table was much appreciated here, and after a time we went looking for the cache.
No dramas here, and the unique little container was soon spotted and retrieved.
SL at 1pm. Cache all good.
A favourite point from us for the great location and clever hide. TFTC BettyBoo3747.

In Wangaratta to attend an event this afternoon. It was an opportunity to throw in the bike and grab a few of these along the trail, that I haven't got yet. It was a cool morning but I was surprised to see, so many muggles out and about along the trail.
Murphy's Law played here, as I searched under the wrong side first. Then after waiting for passing muggles, a quick find, stamp and return was performed. Not too much water about at the moment....Unlike a few months ago.
Thanks Bingley3683 for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Out on the deadly on a cold winters day rode the trail down as far as the Wang - Beechworth rd most were easy finds , a couple more difficult and two DNFs
Today is the 9th of June long weekend of 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch, Strangetrousers and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.
I found this cache on one of the three days caching in this area. Strangetrousers and I collected about 120 caches including a multis, puzzles, an Earthcaches and Traditionals before heading back to Canberra and real life (Sadly).
Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

#4165 46th for today
Day 2 of our MMRT trail ride weekend at Beechworth/Wanagaratta.Today I was joined by Kittykatch, Joolay, CBRChic, Geosnag1 and DarkSideDan. So we resumed where we left off yesterday at Everton and managed a much better rythym today, broken only by the occasional difficult find or DNF. I think we rode about 35 Km in total, but it wasn't too bad being mostly long flat stretches. We spotted lots of cows, sheep, some horses and a few goats along the way. Not a few cyclists also passed us also. We even came across a family of first time geocachers and gave them a few hints.

Fantastic day riding from Everton to Wangaratta on the 2nd day of riding the trail. Beautiful sunny day and such a lovely area to ride through and great trail. Did not find all as some were tricky. This was a lovely spot to stop and eat a bit of choccy for the energy. Beautiful trees and lovely stream flowing under the bridge. After setting up camp in the caravan park we went for a drive around the area to find a few more in the area. This took us around many coutry roads & into farming terriotry.
A good variety of containers & hide. Some easy & others a little challenging.
A nice spot on the rail trail. Pretty dry in the creek. Good size container found here.

Mr Tardis was having a nice bike ride from and to Wang today and picking up a few caches along the way. I braved the heat and managed to find lots of caches and no snakes - YAY!
I found this one after a short search in the likely place.

PS: Sorry for logging 12 months late. Planning this year's annual caching holiday in Wang, I realised I hadn't logged all the caches from last year's holiday!

With KB in town for a few days it was decided that we'd hit the rail trail on the weekend. It was a warm and windy day, we started at 10am in Bowser and made our way along the trail. Most were quite easy finds but a few were challenging. We contended with loads of grass seeds in the sometimes shoulder height grass, we also found a couple of snakes guarding caches along the way (a brown and a red belly black).

Suscoe headed out today in the great company of Phetlern to tackle quite a few caches all going well.
We were wandering to the east of Wangaratta and it was a glorious day with gentle sunshine and a coolish breeze.
We discovered many clever hides along the way and and all in all had a beaut day exploring the delights of this region.

With our base camp set up in Wangaratta, we set out up the valley in the very good company of Suscoe. The weather was ideal, there were very few muggles about and we thoroughly enjoyed the mountain scenery, the views and of course the number and variety of geo-hides the GPS'r led us to.
Need to pedal a bit further before our picnic!

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
