Thank you All. Time to bunk out and say farewell ....

What a wonderful day for worlds to collide, great to catch up with some old friends and make new ones, thanks for organizing it and for the four new caches we found. Thanks also to Riddell for his companionship and sharing of knowledge. I knew about Munzees before I arrived but Ingress was a whole new experience, way too technical for this oldie but I can definitely see the attraction of it. Sorry we had to leave early to travel back home, and congratulations on your first event and choice of venue.

26-Jan-15
Thanks for the Australia Day Worlds Collide event. Really enjoy it. Cheers

I spent part of the morning accompanying a team of cachers on an assault on the Woodlands 100, then drove around the Ring Road to this event, and enjoyed the short time I had to socialize with friends. An interesting juxtaposition of two similar pastimes, this brought together some people that hadn't seen each other for a while.

Thanks, Obi-Cal... there are far worse ways to spend our nation's birthday.

We were looking to come to Brimbank Park for another event on the same day, and when we saw this event listed, then we knew we had to come along. The weather held well for the day, and we got the opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces, but also meet so many more from far and wide. Got a chance to have a chat with a far flung special guest. We decided not to do the dash for FTF on the caches listed on the day, settling for a more relaxed event. Brilliant day, and great event put on by our hosts.

Thanks for the cache Obi-Cal.

26-Jan-15
Thanks for putting on this event Obi-Cal we had a great day - double the fun actually Smile. We caught up with people we hadn't seen for a while and met a lot of others AND the cake was delicious Smile

Mr Crackers was busy working away for Australia day so Mrs Crackers joined forces with The Coffee's to make the journey to "Worlds Collide". We hadn't heard of the joining of these two hobbies before but I'm sure that this will be the first of many of "Worlds Collide" events here in Australia. We look forward to them being listed
This one went well and everyone had a great time, the munzees were prolific and there was new caches for us traditionalists to find.
The weather was kind and the prizes were many.
Thanks Obi-Cal for a well organised first event.

26-Jan-15

I made very much a last minute decision to come down here today and I am really glad I did as it was lovely cool weather and a great bunch of cachers in attendance. I learned a thing or two about munzees too whilst here. Plus 4 new caches released which are always fun to find in company too.
BTW - A very original name for an event too Smile
Thanks ObiCal

26-Jan-15
Thanks Obi-Cal for organising this event. The two worlds of caching and munzees did collide today. Look forward to another worlds collide event - maybe even annually.

26-Jan-15
OMG BEST EVENT NAME EVER.... WE SHOULD GET AN INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT FOR ITS SHEER AWESOMENESS.

Seriously though, what a great day where geocaching and munzing blended together seamlessly. Caught up with many old faces and met a great deal new faces and put names to many of the CO's that I had not met face to face before.

Many thanks to Obi-Cal for organizing this event. We appreciate the effort you put in to its organisation and execution.

Now to rest some very tired legs after a huge day in the field.

26-Jan-15
We made it, Just. MrsBlackDuck and I just made it to stop by and say hello. Nice to meet a few more people and say hi to the ones we know. And thanks to someone, I can't remember his name, I'm more interested to find out about Munzee. Thank you for such a fun event!

26-Jan-15
Sorry we did not rsvp sooner it was a last minute decision to attend. Happy to meet Muzza and Carl from Geostuff there.

26-Jan-15
Great event with a hopefully much repeated name. I was surpised to learn how many people are into Munzees. It was great to catch up with caching friends, old and new.

Thanks to Obi-Cal for organising.

26-Jan-15
Like Fergzter says..

OMG BEST EVENT NAME EVER.... WE SHOULD GET AN INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT FOR ITS SHEER AWESOMENESS.

Where the worlds of Geocaching and Munzees collide!
That's what gave it that AWESOME factor.

Thanks for the event Obi-Cal.

PS. I know we had to go early, but is there a chance we can get a piece of that cake?

26-Jan-15
The young kids and I were not going to miss out on all the fun in the park today. There were plenty of people to chat to and we even had Obi-Cal captain us in a short game of the new Eventzee Beta (never has a bald head been in so much demand for photographing Surprised.
It's a big world and there are plenty of great Geolocation games to play. Today two of my favourites collided Smile.

Cheers Obi-Cal, a fantastic effort for your first event as a host.

26-Jan-15
An enjoyable event on a lovely Australia Day! Unfortunately I did not get to stay long and the new caches dragged us away from socialising. I am not in to munzee's I am afraid but some peopole obviously are. Many thanks to Obi-Cal for organising this.

26-Jan-15
It was an honour to attend the world's first "Worlds Collide" event today. What a brilliant idea and an excellent and truly original name. I am looking forward to attending all future geocaching and Munzee events in Australia. And they will all be called "Worlds Collide" of course. I'm planning several myself. As is every other attendee at today's event. We will eventually have an infinite number of "Worlds Collide" events running simultaneously, and we will cover every square inch of Australia with them. I will have to buy a box of pens to sign that many "Worlds Collide" logs.

26-Jan-15
Only at the event for a short time but great to catch up with so many like minded people!!

26-Jan-15
Thanks to Obi-Cal for organising this Worlds Collide event at short notice and adding a few caches to the area as well. Munzeeing with the family took up most of our time, and it was great to meet lots of new and old faces from Munzee and geocaching as well. I did manage to get a couple of the new caches with the kids which they enjoyed. Thanks again.

26-Jan-15
So nice to be able to spend Australia Day here. Thanks for the cake too - glad someone "hadn't left the cake out it the rain" this morning...

26-Jan-15
Thank you Obi-Cal for putting together this awesome event. It was great to meet players from both Munzee and Geocaching. This was a great addition to my first Australia Day celebration. This was a special trip with meeting many special people. Thanks for all you did!

26-Jan-15
I would be flattered if you wanted to call your next event Team Rubik, I wouldn't expect you to ask my permission or anything either. Thanks for giving me a rare geocache to log and for the opportunity to meet up with some old pals.

Cheers

26-Jan-15
Attended this event after completing part of the Woodlands caching adventure. Caught up with some people. Found some new caches and had a great time.

Thanks for the event Obi - Cal and I thought the name was most appropriate.

Wow, I nearly forgot to "Attend" my own Event. Smile

I would like to send the warmest thank you to Everyone who attended my first ever Geocaching Event.

I was absolutely stoked with the numbers of people who attended, and I'm hoping everyone had a great time.

A small apologies to any "traditionalist" cachers out there who are not overly comfortable with the idea of the "Other" Geo Event being held at the same time as this one, however it was just too challenging to have it any other way.

As has been stated in online forums, this was done at the request of the "Other" geo location game's President who had traveled all the way from Texas in the old US of A, and was here in Aust for a very brief 3 days.

Given our Texan Geo-friend Rob is also a really keen geocacher, he requested both Events be organised, and due to time restraints, we were essentially forced to hold them at the same time, in the same location.

So to sum up, a massive thank you to all who attended. I really appreciate you all taking the time to travel from far and wide to be at this little shin dig. The USA, Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales .... and Victorians alike .... you guys and gals are all awesome. Thank you.

Kindest regards,

Callum (Obi-Cal)

A chance to go to our first Melbourne event in our fourteen years of geocaching. We had a wonderful time at the Worlds Collide event, a chance to catch up with some old friends and make a few new ones.

So many geocachers on the darkside too,
Worlds Collide is the sixth studio album from Finnish metal band Apocalyptica, released on September 14, 2007.
I think I wouldn't care about a request to change my event name from someone who hasn't cached in the southern hemisphere.
Anyway - can't make it since I'm in charge of the barbie.

Happy Australia Day!

25-Jan-15
Someone telling people on the other side of the planet what they can and can't call their event! How atrociously arrogant!

Guess what I am going to call my next event.

And I plan to be at this one too.

25-Jan-15
I didn't realise this event was on until today. Funnily, the odd requests by the two American's who have run a total of two 'Worlds Collide' Events, both in the past year, to have this one changed has created a little publicity for the event. Said publicity has raised a bit of local awareness of the event and will hopefully encourage more cachers to attend Smile Sando23468 and I shall now be popping by and hope to attend other "Worlds Collide" events here in Victoria.

25-Jan-15
We will be able to get to this. "two worlds collide". Like the name might use it too at our next event titled two worlds collide in our coffee cup.

25-Jan-15

23-Jan-15

See you there.

23-Jan-15
Although I wish I could be there, I feel I must say it is very poor form to blatantly duplicate with title and all, the signature event of another. H2OKLAN and myself came up with the Worlds Collide events and have successfully cohosted each one. Although I realize we don't hold copyrights, it's a small community and common courtesy goes a long way. Not being approached for our thoughts or our blessing is very disrespectful and unfortunate.

23-Jan-15
I had a player message me to let me know they saw a post on Facebook where you are planning on hosting an official Worlds Collide event. "Worlds Collide" is a name that whtwolfden and I came up with for our events. Though we do not have a patent or copyright, we have a lot of pride in our "Worlds Collide" events. When the player sent me the message last night, they told me at first they thought it was an event we were hosting, until they read further.

Our first one was at Geowoodstock XII. We have hosted many different Worlds Collide events since then and most players know all Worlds Collide events are hosted by whtwolfden and H2OKLAN.

While I will never tell anyone not to host an event, I ask you please do not use the name of our event for one of your own events. Please message me back if you have any questions or want to talk things over.

Please don't take this as me being negative or anything like that. I'm just very protective of something that we have spent a lot of time and hard work to get off the ground and make it into what it is now. I hope you understand my feelings and why this is so important to us.

22-Jan-15
We will be there Smile
