As I was nearing the end of my four hour hike, I wasn't that keen on any more lengthy cache searches so I was happy that I was able to spot this one immediately.
I'm down from Auckland for a couple of weeks and this morning decided to head to Wither Hills Farm Park and walk the Mt Vernon Loop, the weather was fantastic for it. A quick find here, as I made my way back down to the car park. TFTC!
The days are getting longer but there’s still not much time after work to get out and cache before sunset. Tried to make it up to the summit but failed. Did however collect 8 caches over the hour and a half. Meet a few people doing their loops but they had no idea what was going on in the real world of caching. Cache and log all fine. Thanks bumandworker for the Smiley
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the Waterlea Racecourse in Blenheim for the next couple of days … today we decided to go for a walk up Mt Vernon via the Sutherland Stream Track to The Crown & onto the Trig Station, mainly to do the Ad Lab here but also to grab a few caches … the weather was ideal, warm but overcast with the threat of rain … all said & done, an ideal caching day … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #3,639 for us.
Slowly picking off the caches in the park, have walked past this one many times but finally remembered to grab it.

I wasn't really paying any attention to my fone till KR said he'd got most of the trads here already, but there would be some for me, ( applying his caching brain to the furniture we'd just passed). I wouldn't say that it was windy but if I had been wearing jandals they would have been launched into orbit. Tftc
Ohh, this one confused the kids who ran down to the seat thinking it was there. Nope sporgs, try back over there. Cheers
On our way back from going up to the Trig nice to come back a different way - TFTC
The lure of some Lab caches and a number of Trads made Mt Vernon this mornings target. Left the Redwood carpark at 5:30 and no I wasn't the first person there. walked up the Sutherland valley and up the Covenant Track to the trig. Then down the ridge track. Great walk, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Easy find here. TFTC
Enjoying the walk up to Mt Vernon with family. Fine weather and great views. Neatly hidden away from the track, thanks b&w.
Nice hide, well-hidden, snug and dry. Unfortunately the circular route to Mt Vernon is not possible on this perfect day as some of the tracks are closed for maintenance, so I will save the rest of the MV caches and the remainder of the AdLab for another day. TFTC
Nice quick find here, while busy signing the log I heard some music walking past, why do people do that, not everyone wants to listen to their music some just like the peace and quiet. Thanks b&w

GK headed out for a wander, while I stayed at a much lower level under strict instructions from my physio that I do not attempt to walk up hills. It has been a long recovery from my injury and mentally I am well and truly over the restrictions that have been imposed.
There were a surprising number of people wandering around this hill, GK noted that the majority were female, with only passing one other man on his walk.
GZ was spotted as gk approached, not all that many options up here so it was a nice easy find as he was heading up the hill.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Spending time in Blenheim today before taking ferry back home. Lovely day for a walk. TFTC
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 2 of our 4 day weekend in Blenheim. After some easy drive bys, it was time for a loooong walk in the Wither Hills. We went up via the Sutherland Stream track to the Split Apple Peak track to Mt Vernon, then back down via part of the Cobb Cottage track as far as the Middle track, sidled along that, then back to the car via the Mt Vernon track. I was very pleased to see the car park hove into view .
This track is pretty steep, so maybe just as well we didn't go up it, though it was hard on knees and toes going down. I had a wee rest on the nearby settee, leaving SW to do the hard work . TFTC.

#18561. Thankfully the cache wasn't too far below the track (legs were feeling a bit weary was we were on our way down from Mt Vernon). Didn't take too long to locate. TFTC.
Visiting Blenheim from Dunedin. I've been up Mt Vernon before - quite a climb! - but didn't get geocaches that time. This time would be different. However I bargained without the gale-force wind that Marlborough has. Still, I can persevere...
TYFTC, nice easy find, container wet inside so dried it out, log book dry.
It's Canterbury Show Day today. We stayed at Spring Creek. Our goal today is to cache along Wither Hills.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

A quick and easy find. Thanks
A weekend away, first this month!! Up to Sunny Blenheim to do some walking and caching. Friday night drive took forever, there must have been a dozen sets of traffic lights along the way. A great day today though so the Friday drive was worth it.
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

Beautiful walk up to Mount Vernon (422 meters). What a beautiful views during the walk and all these Geocaches made the trip extra nice. thanks to all people who did hide these caches.
Out on a beautiful evening, we could even see a ferry (or other ship) in Cook Strait. Quick find, tftc.
After a bad, start with my computer not talking to Nigel, The Seagnoid gets it sorted and we decide on a walk, with him running away from home and coming along. So I spent the nest hour loading "Wither Hills for a loop walk on a beautiful day. The Seagnoid has done most on this walk so while Im here Ill try and bag them.
Its up first and this is my next stop and an easy find. Cheers

There was a lot of discussion between the three walkers about the pronuciation of the name of the cache. It would have been solved by reading the listing - but that would not have been as much fun. No problem for another in the party to find the cache despite not having read the listing - the good coordinates were all that was needed.
Thanks. Now to get back to the car as quickly as sensible as the rain had started.
Nearing the end of our loop walk. There's a bit of a shower by this time but mostly the weather has been kind to us. TFTC .
We thought it long past time we changed some of these green boxes in to yellow smilies on the Wither Hills and wanted to get it underway before the heat of summer hits.
This was our second find on our loop walk today. Onward and upward.
Thank you bumandworker.

Spring has sprung and the main objective was to walk the Wither Hills. We can never ignore extras on offer of course. The weather was perfect, a bit chilly up top though. Sun screen would have been a good idea too, ouch. This is the second of the loop we set out on. We're starting to enjoy the views, nice. Thank you bumandworker
Out for a walk with B&W today to collect the newly published caches.
I got to collect a few older ones like this at the same time.
Having walked down from the Mt Vernon trip we were finally getting low enough now to be out of the amazingly strong Westerly gale.
A quick find and sign.

Out for a nice walk this Queens Birthday day. The kids didn't like the steepness, but was good for us! Easy find. We made good use of the seat and noticed all the fires there were on this slightly nippy but sunny Monday afternoon. Tftc.
Good day for a walk in the hills today. Plan was to get as high up as possible and stay there as long as possible to get those caches. Ended up being a 5 hour trek that makes Frodos trip to Mordor look like a stroll to the dairy. Ok, maybe not. But we got 13 for the day and some great views. Thanks for the caches to all owners and sorry for the cut and paste- but they were all pretty much where they should be so not much else to report. I now have some smiley faces looking down on me
Must be fitter than I thought. Got here in good time and didn't need to us the very nice looking seat.
#1451 Found in the last place I looked. Thanks for another South Island smilie. All good at GZ
Heading back down from the top and here was a cachey place to stop
Good views over towne from the seat [^]
Somewhere along the sheep trails there was a good view of a cache too !! [^]
TFTC.
Lots easier heading back down.
Though some of the wind blasts almost blew me over [:o]

forgot to log this cache. Out with theroamingreliever tftc, enjoyed the run around the area
I could see this settea on the horizon from the Wither a seat below but actually it wasn't as far as it looked. Lovely day for a wander in the hills. TFTC #6994
Over in the region for a day of caching around Marlborough. I had a great day over here. Weather was perfect. A big walk in the Wither Hills was on the cards today. I entered the farm park from the Cobb Cottage entrance and headed up to Mt Vernon from there. I came down the Sutherland Stream track and took a short detour back up the Mt Vernon track to this cache before heading back to my car along the Mapp Track. I had a rest in the seat and waited for a muggle to walk past before I headed to the cache. No problems here, then it was back down the hill again. TFTC, Biggles.
had the day off and my girlfriend gave me the afternoon free for caching
so i went out to get a few smilies in blenheim, this was number 15 on my way
and number 11 on the wither hills
thanks for the cache

Friday morning out for run in advance of funetal leading marlborough businessman. Good de stress time. Tftc
A beautiful morning for a walk in the Wither hills, doing a bigger circuit today from the rifle range carpark. A nice cool start to the day as we walked up the Gentle Annie, past the witches hat and onwards up the Taylor View track. Around the top along the Split Apple track to Mt Vernon and down to the crown. While we were making a good pace, we decided to take the shorter track down the ridge rather than head out to the Cob Cottage track past the transmitters as we had to get back to work eventually. A handy cache here to keep my streak going today. We carried on around the lower track back to the Rifle Range carpark. 14km in 3 hours. T F T C b&w

Found this eventually after scrambling around in between trees trying to avoid the muggle stares from above.
Would have found easier if I had come straight from seat instead of going along track further...

After finishing dinner this evening Mrs Kiwimykl asked if I want to go for a walk on the Wither Hills Farm Park. Knowing this was likely to happen, I just happened to have four caches scoped out for such an eventuality, so I replied in the affirmative. After quickly changing into more appropriate clothing, we were in the car heading for upper Redwood Street.
The plan was to convert four caches on the eastern extremity of the Farm Park into smiley faces and it was always handy to have Mrs Kiwimykl's sharp eyes for picking out the treasures. This was the second of the four targeted caches after bagging another of B&W's caches, 'Wither a seat', and after an easier walk than the one to the previous cache we were soon in the GZ area. Once again, while I was faffing about trying to get a better fix on the cache using c:geo, Mrs Kiwimykl had the cache in hand.
With no muggles in sight, the log was quickly signed and we caught our breath admiring the stunning views over Blenheim on a pristine evening. The sun was getting lower on the horizon and the shadows were lengthening down the Wairau Valley, a truly beautiful evening.
Our resident boarder, the 'Fosters' TB accompanied us on this adventure.

As I was sick and tired of Mr NZDi having all the fun with this GC lark, I decided to create my own login on the GC website and after finishing dinner this evening I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk on the Wither Hills Farm Park. I knew he was keen to clean out a few caches at one end of the Farm Park, so I was not surprised when he replied in the affirmative. After quickly changing into more appropriate clothing, we were in the car heading for upper Redwood Street.
The plan was to convert four caches on the eastern extremity of the Farm Park into smiley faces and it was always handy to have Mr NZDi's skills in operating the c:geo app to get me in the general area of the GZ, once there I could usually beat him to the find. This was the second of the four targeted caches after having just bagged another of B&W's caches, 'Wither a Seat'. After an easier walk than that to the previous cache, we were soon in the GZ area. [green] {FTF} Saw this come out just before lunch so I texted Capperz and we headed off for a dual FTF after work. A hadn't looked where the cache was, and now I find that we are yet again heading up the Wither Hills. I thought I had this area cleared out! Well, apart from that one over there.
My 120th FTF, which gets me a sapphire badge .
Great views from the top - the green in the grape fields, brown here on the withered hills. (photo)

Well, after the lunch time trip up here to F T find the Wither a seat cache I got back to work and carried on as normal, well, as normal as can be anyway. Sure enough, not ten minutes of work and G H 6710 tells me there's been a new cache placement. (Thanks cell phone for NOT letting me know), and it's a b & w cache, and it's in Blenheim (yes come on) and it's just past where we've just come back from. Drat.
So this evening, after texting the F T F monster that is the Seagnoid and waiting for him to return from work, I ventured up this track, again, second time today, third time in 4 days. Hmmmmm. I do like it as a walk though!
No problems with the find once I'd grunted my way past the earlier F T F cache and passed the flock of Shrek-like sheep (NZ Shrek, not DreamWorks one). Cache was an easy find in the hinted at place and I was pleasantly pleased to see a blank log book looking back up at me!
Replaced as found and I hope (know) that's my last trip up here for the day. Yay
Joint FTF with the Seagnoid, another for my collection. Woop woop. (FTF){FTF} [FTF]*FTF*
