On a road trip along Great Ocean Road and reached GZ at 11.30am. Spent 20 minutes of enjoyable tock scrambling but no cache in the obvious crevices. Perhaps the rising tides of global warming has seen this one washed away. CO could confirm the mere existence of the hide if it is still there and we shall return gladly, as Wye River is AWESOME! It's possible the cache has been buried in a landslide . . . if not, we didn't look hard enough! Enjoyed the walk to GZ on a blustery day so thanks anyway.

12-Nov-16
This cache is right in the middle of a road work zone at the moment which has the road down to one lane and no parking for some distance, so we will come back another day. Thanks for the cache.

We had a nice walk along the fantastic traces of an old volcano. Sunny day and low tide. No problems getting to GZ. But alas, no cache found. The cache have not been logged since June, perhaps it is gone??

Seventh cache of what ended ended up being an enormously action packed caching adventure from Lorne back to our starting point in Camperdown.
Little Ruverbug played in the sand and (cold winter) water while semi Geo dadd, while I made the find.

We saw an abundance of native flora and fauna, as well as those pesky weedy species.
Ruverbug slept a bunch of the trip (seriously what three year has two -three naps in a day - this one did. we are part grateful, part WTF is come this evening - other parents you get this, I know you do!!!)
It was a totally amazing day, stopping not in the places that we usually would, but the places in between. The places that people don't really stop or take notice of for what ever reason they come up with. Today will go down in our Farmer family history of one of the best 300km travel days ever.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne (where we are travelling to at present), cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!

Fortunately this was a nice quick find at Ground Zero as it was almost high tide, so we didn't hang around after having signed the log! Thanks so much for the cache.

Wye River was very busy today, being weekend of the school holidays. Parked by the fire station and walked to the beach and along to the rocks. With geo grandson as monkey this one was quickly in hand after a walk across the rocks. TFTC

cjfinda was sent up to fetch this little treasure! A lovely walk to this cache finished or Anglesea to Wye River run - always nice to end with a find. TFTC

Out for a day of caching with the family during the school holidays. A bit of a scramble but got it in the end! TFTC

01-Apr-16
On our way from Apollo Bay to Torquay. We parked at the suggested co-ords and headed towards GZ. Once there it took us quite a while to find the cache. There was quite a few muggles around and initially we weren't looking high enough. TFTC.

While staying at Kenett river for the weekend with friends we cruised around to see the damage done by the fires over the Christmas break. Left the car at regret and did the beach walk. Good little hide cache in excellent condition thanks for the cache

15-Feb-16
Suscoe decided to make a day of it and head towards the South West to enjoy a trip to Apollo Bay in the good company of Bushfire.
The Otways are a wonderful place and so one a mild day, with sunshine, the occasional clouds and a gentle breeze which strengthened as the day passed we headed off to enjoy ourselves and see what we could see and find what we could find.
This was the 14th cache find for the day.
What a beaut walk to GZ with the Red Ant!!!!!!!!!
The strange things that you learn about when caching!!!!
Cache found in good condition today.
Thanks to the Mainebirds for this placement, a beaut spot.

Found It! Really nice spot, took a bit of climbing but got there in the end.TFTC

12-Jan-16
We were in the area for our annual holiday. Sadly, a lot of damage has been done to this beautiful place by the recent fires (including the loss of 'The TARDIS' where we used to stay), but it was great to see the General Store and Pub filled with customers and the beach thriving.
Many thanks must go to the awesome firefighters who have and are dealing with this ongoing blaze.
The cache has survived despite the area around it being burnt. Good luck on you adventures and make sure you spend some $$ at the Store and Pub.
Cheers!

02-Nov-15
Found it! Thanks for the cache.

01-Nov-15
We originally passed this heading south but didn't stop in time but probably a good thing after we read the cache description. Then we walked to this from the other cache not factoring in the river down to the beach. I managed to jump the river without getting my shoes wet. Plenty of muggle traffic through here but they just say hi and move on. Cache found in good order.

Decided to head down this way with The Tritonz to convert a few green squares into smiley faces, check on two caches that require some TLC and hopefully find another one that has been disabled.
I am happy to say that the two caches that required some TLC are now both happy. We did find the disabled cache and twenty others as well.
Very good days caching with some great mates and that is what caching is all about.
Lovely area around here that in the past we have enjoyed spending some great weekends camping at the local park.
Good to see another cache placed here.

16-Oct-15
Today we set off with Bushfire to pick up some unfound caches along the Great Ocean Road then up to Colac , cleaning up many areas, turning them all into smilies. We even helped our great mate repair some caches and find a disabled one that many couldn't find.
Thanks Mainebirds for the awesome place to hide a cache.

02-Oct-15
Spent a long time searching for this one, to no avail

27-Sep-15
Couldn't find it, but maybe I couldn't get high enough. I'm also pretty inexperienced with little caches, so it's probably my fault. Beautiful day for the beach though.

17-Aug-15
Pretty sure that the two previous searchers were approaching this one from the wrong altitude. VERY unlikely it could have been washed away. I won't be in the area for a little while to confirm this.

04-Jul-15
One word: brambles

04-Jul-15
Might have been washed away

03-May-15
After walking over rocks falling down all laughing found geo had a good day even as it was raining TFTC

03-May-15
Staying in the bay for a week visiting my brother. Thought we got away from the rain of Sydney but no it is here too. At least it is only a drizzle and we can still get out and get some geos. As it is now low tide we know we can get the 2 here and the one at Kennett river more easily at low tide off we went. A quick find and log signed. TFTC

Tried this one 2 days ago but tide was too high. On our way home now so a nice walk along the beach at low tide today. TFTC

24-Mar-15
Found it a couple of days ago but it seems that it didn't actually send. The service there is very patchy

22-Mar-15
Nice find glad the weather was fine and low tide.

21-Mar-15
This weekend we headed to Wye River for a family birthday camping weekend. The tide was on its way out so we thought that this would be an ideal time to look for this cache with the youngest member of the Harris Clan. As we were staying in the caravan park it was a simple walk along the beach with a little bit of a rock scramble and then luckily a relatively quick find. Both our names have now been entered into the log.
Many thanks Mainebirds for the cache.

Found this one with Nyochi on our otways adventure and this one had me worried! Standing at the bottom of the rock wall watching nyochi try to find the cache was hard, I was so worried I would have to catch her as she clambered up and finally found it. Definitely a fun one but I would not call it an easy one! I couldn't imagine every cacher would be able to reach this one! But still a good location and a fun hide! TFTC!

Yes, reading the clue would have been a big help! Found a few meters away from where my GPS was saying GZ. TFTC

15-Feb-15
Decent co-ords, nicely hidden cache, not too obvious but an easy spot for a cacher's eye.

Visiting Australia from the UK, staying at Separation Creek with some friends for a long weekend, luckily there's a new cache in town in addition to the other Wye River cache I found in 2013 Smile

10-Feb-15
Needed a geocaching fix today so headed over to Wye River this afternoon and did the tricky climb and found at 2pm, glad I wasn't any shorter as for some I would think it a little difficult. TFTC

***FTF***

8:34am

The geodaughter and i had serviced in Lorne and were looking for something to do.

A new cache in what is really an awesome place.

We jumped in the car and headed down the road.

On arrival it was a great sunrise.

We parked on the other side of the beach and made our way to GZ.

At first I made it a little harder than need be.

Then the aha moment.

Blank log it was as we opened it up.

TFTC Smile

McWillid and I saw this cache pop up this morning and went down hoping for our first FTF. After a short walk from the car park, we arrived at GZ and searched for a while before reading the clue and finding the cache. We opened the log to find that we had been beaten to FTF! We signed at 10:30 am as a joint second to find. TFTC!

25-Jan-15
Wow - hughmcw and I were on a mission to FTF as we thought surely no one in sleepy Wye River could beat us to this one, since it was only published late the day before. However we were beaten to the cache by some early risers elsewhere. Not to mind, we need more coastal caches and we appreciated this scenic (& challenging) location. TFTC....

###FTF###

8:34am

I'm on school holidays in Lorne.
When this cache came up I came for a drive with my dad.
Wye River is a cool place.
We walked along the beach then I climbed up and we spotted it.
Nice spot with many people on the beach today.
This is my first FTF.
