Thanks dragon gem for the cache. It’s #1404 for us. We found your cache on 17 February 2021. No sign of Auntie but someone waved from the farmhouse
Quick find today.
Quick find today.
#12,192. Park and grab on Taringamotu Road in Taumarunui. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Heading south after visiting family collecting caches along the way. A few muggles in the garden nearby, busy doing other things. TFTC
quick and easy, just how i like them, easy to see as i approached, does aunty still live over there, tftc
We decided to head away for a few days in the camper and do some geocaching. One of our aims was to travel the Forgotten World Highway. Mrs S found this one and we waved to Aunty Earn just in case she was watching, although we didn't see any lace curtains twitching.
Thanks dragon gem.
Thanks dragon gem.
#7636. We had just spent the night in Taumaranui. Today is New Years eve and we are on our way north to Auckland. I had an hour while the family slept in to go and try for a couple of local geocaches. This was one of them. A few houses nearby so felt quite exposed here. The cache was quickly spotted but took a minute to get the contents out. Nicely done container for this type of hiding spot. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks dragon gem for hiding it here.
Scouting out Taumaranui before heading south today.Come to check out Aunty Earns Place. Left our calling card . Cheers
Day 17 - Sunday 29 December. Taumaranui through to Hawera today. So lets go!!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Stuck in my head:
Auntie Earny brought us this; Auntie Earny brought us this,
Not too late, not too soon; press it in the middle, it'll play a tune.
But otherwise, I remember this not. .
I have lost my notebook! When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a log book or, in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks.

I finished up work and had a bite to eat for lunch in town and now it's time to pick up a few geocaches with this being the first. I enjoyed the drive out to this cache and it surprised me how many houses are out here! I parked the car but then realised I was about 30m away from the cache (how did that happen?) so I ambled along the road and once at GZ it was a quick find. I was surprised at the neat container at GZ - well done for placing something a bit different.

My daughter was taking her son down to Taumarunui to stay with his Nanny. I tagged along and to make the trip worthwhile we did some geocaching on our way home. Had 8 lined up and had 1 DNF. #5 I found this one easily. Felt a bit conspicuous parked by someone's drive way. TFTC
Out to find a few caches after dinner.
A quick find. Great container.
No sign of any net curtains on the move.

quickly found on a short bike ride located gz but no sign of cache. checked past logs and soon located. signed and returned to the right place. tftc
On my way south to Taupo for the night, and other areas for a weekend of caching. Also looking at caches that fulfill the 400 Challenge along the way. Looking for old caches too.
No sign of Aunty Earn today but I did find the cache slightly over in the field, I was just able to reach for it without having to jump the fence. Cool container! Thanks for the cache!

Was easy to fine. Lid was not on so replaced it. The bag the notebook was in has been ripped...
While staying in a country lodge nearby, we did an evening walk for this one.
Near GZ it was obvious were to look for this cache. An indeed, there it was.
The neighbours (?) were watching us. Wouldn't be for the first time, I guess .
#1824 log:19.10 ni/no Thanx !!

Thanks drove past on way to airport stopped on return. Spent two nights here so we could bike some of the Timber trail.
Although raining still warm. I don't think Aunty Earn will be looking out at the rain. TFTC
A quick, but not painless find after being caught by a barb!
Tftc none the less.

3241 On a mission today to clear the town of it's caches. Parked across the road. An empty house gave ample of room to do so. Then it was over to GZ where a quick find was made. Due to the traffic on the road I took it back to the car for signing before returning it to it's hide. Thanks for the placement.
Oops signed it as 30th. I am a day behind.

This has been a trip that has been planned fro a few weeks with the prime objective to Jet Boat down the Wanganui River fromTaumarnui to Pipiriki the following day, but firstly we had to get there. On this trip we were heading to Mt Damper, through to "The Forgotten Highway" before heading back up to Taumarnui to clean that area out.
So setting off after work in the company of HKCB, iammrwalker and Kyb3r we headed down this way to eventually make it cross country before thinking about a bit of sleep. Signed the log as HOAC to save valuable space in the logbook
Spirits were high, concersation rediculious and plans made for future trips. By now on this trip we were deffinatly on our own and the place was all ours (it would be hours before we saw another car, and infact we only saw 3 vehicles between turning off SH3 and when we finally made it sleep time at 4.30am).
Well designed cache, strange how the dark can make places more inviting. Its now 2.15am and we ahve arrived in Taumarunui so just a chance to collect a few caches then some sleep. so far driving 300kms and been awake for 22 hours at this point.
A big thanks to all the CO's who have placed and maintained the caches in the more remote parts of New Zealand.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

I found this geocache in the company of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and Kyb3r. We were together thanks to Cats&Dragons who had organised another one of his infamous Geocaching ‘missions’. The goal was to pick up a bunch of T5 caches along the Wanganui river via speedboat. We met at his place after work on Friday night and headed out into the night taking the kind of detours only an overachieving Geocacher can appreciate on our way to Tamaranui which is how we ended up here. We signed the log HOAC to save on space and as a reference to our crazy trip together. We did eventually get to Tamaranui at about 4am after Geocaching throughout the night. We pulled the car over, got maybe an hour and a half of uncomfortable, disrupted sleep, and then set off again to meet with six other Geocachers from Hamilton and Auckland who were joining us on the boat trip. It was certainly a memorable trip.
Must have been close to 4am when we called in here which might have been why it took us a little longer to access the log than normal.

We had planned a trip a few weeks ago to Jet Boat down the Whanganui River, something that had been on my to do list for a few years now, and the time had now come to head down to Taumarunui and jump on the water. However while discussing this with C&D we decided to throw in a side mission and try and locate a few caches along the Northern end of the "Forgotten Highway" including Mt. Damper Falls and finishing with a clean out of Taumarunui the night before because as C&D constantly reminds us "sleep is for the weak!".
So we set off at 5.30pm Friday night, with Iammrwalker and Kyb3r in tow heading to the first cache of the trip. This side mission turned out to be very successful with us completing everything we wanted with a few hours of darkness left to grab an hour or two of sleep before making our way to the Jet Boat. We signed the logbooks with HOAC a group caching name we use from time to time. A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found on this side mission.
Nice at quite here, so no problems locating aunty's place. However took a little longer to get to the log, thanks for the hide.

Loved the rambling roses near the cache but very glad I wasn't searching amongst that lot. T4tc
Decided to pick up a cache after a very nice dinner at the RSA and this one was handy and could be done in nice clothes. After signing it off we continued on and completed the loop back to Taumarunui via, eventually, SH41.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick easy find between showers, but we didn't spot Aunty Earn. The cache was lying on the ground, but we replaced it where it looked as if it was supposed to be. TFTC
Great little find, decided to treat kids with treasure hunt on the way home from school, easy for kids as bigger container than usual. Didn't have a pen handy to log in book unfortunately.
Don't see many cache containers like this, added my swag and quickly signed the log, seems just in time before a couple of utes went past. Tftc
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A cache-hunting road trip into the King Country. The day started out bright and sunny, but the dark clouds rolled in as soon as we crossed over the hills on Highway 41...
We were left wondering if Aunty Earn still lives here... The house across the road is for sale, and the other one next door looks empty. Still, this was a quick find with a solid hint. TFTC.

Couldn't be stealthy as GZ fairly open. Liked the actual cache container. TFTC
Wow what a great container & hide chock full of goodies! Swapped a few items... TFTC
After an amazing weekend snowboarding on Mt Ruapehu with friends I left our accommodation after a great breakfast to head back to Auckland. Detour to collect this one. TFTC
Nice container quickly spotted on our way back from the international airport close by TFTC
Clever location and container. A nice tidy cache with a few good tradables for my 7yr old son to make a trade on. Traded a ball and a key chain for the glow sticks. TFTC
Interesting container and dry inside. Co-ords spot on. Didn't see Auntie Earn though.tftc
Good to tidy up our caching in Taumarunui with this our second visit and good weather and new caches. TFTC
Didn’t manage to spot Aunty Earn but gave a friendly wave anyway, many thanks for the cache.
We looked for twitching net curtains but failed to spot them.we waved in the general direction anyway. TFTC
Heading down to Wanganui and New Plymouth for a few days - a nice find in a nice spot

Another hot day, just too hot to work, so this was a good excuse to stop painting and take a drive across the Waituhi Saddle. We turned up expecting a quick find but the co-ords led us astray by quite a lot, so we tried to judge distances by the net curtains but they weren't moving either. Not hard to work it out though, by process of elimination we soon had the cache in hand. And still an empty logbook, an FTF despite us thinking someone may have already been looking. TFTC and sorry we didn't spot Aunty to wave to.
