Found with alislaur - wasn't very well camouflaged which was a bit alarming, but contents were safe and dry nevertheless. Dropped a TB here from Melbourne, TFTC )
A few caching-related surprises have caught me off guard while in the ACT, although I think seeing this CO name has to be up there with one of the more unexpected!I knew I recognised it from somewhere, and reading the description revealed that I seem to have performed precisely the same move as the CO in reverse - funny that.Arriving at gz after dark meant that the headtorch was in use (a little iffy in a more residential area, although there were no problems in the end).I ventured in a bit further than was necessary until I spotted the more suspicious hiding spot when glancing back outward.Covered it all back up nicely once more and I was on my way back home(?) once more. Thanks to AussieGuy007 for the hide!
I was shopping nearby for some kosher snacks and ducked out to grab this cache on my way home. Introduced another friend to geocaching in the process! Thanks for the cache, AussieGuy007
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra in anticipation of ANZAC day. With a cold morning it was a later start than originally planned. Knowing we wanted to be in Kambah by 3pm a list was written heading south today. Of course the list was just too long but we got to a fun event and claimed a few smilies along the way.TFTC AussieGuy007
MEGA all finished and the last couple of days caching around Canberra to get as many suburbs as possible. This morning we visited the National Library for a tour. After the library visit we went in search of the suburbs but had to cut our day short as we had made plans for the late afternoon and night. We were able to get a few suburbs. Logs signed as Q3. TFTC
Out and about in Canberra with the view to collect Multies, challenges and suburban cache. Now chasing some suburbs.Caching with and signing as the group 'Q3' and having a great day.TFTCache AussieGuy007
MEGA is finished, and we Q3, have a few days caching before heading home to QLD. Chasing suburbs this afternoon after a National Library tour of our son's workplace.Nice hide.Log signed and cache replaced as found on April 5, 2024. TFTC, AussieGuy007
13:04April Fools/Easter Monday...Back in the car with EveTheStaffy, n0w0rries+Wife.While eating lunch, n0w0rries noted this cache nearby, and decided that we should pick it up.Thanks, AussieGuy007, for the cache, and being willing to play musical chairs at a wedding to help a disabled friend of mine.#8697
1 April 2024 1:05pmFind # 10045An extended Easter holiday with +Wife, EveTheStaffy, and nirgalagrin. Our first time caching in ACT. In fact, our last visit here was 25 years ago.Nice to catch up with you yesterday. Thank you AussieGuy007 for the cache.
In Canberra for a few days before heading back to Melbourne today and next maintenance check will be at Easter.I pulled up to check on my cache when I saw a couple walking around the area with a metal detector so I thought Id get out and check on it anyway and told them about geocaching as they found mine already as the lady was picking up rubbish in the park which was good to see. She told me that she found another container which she showed me where it was and turns out to be my original container! So Ive removed it and kept the replacement container thats hidden by the person whos helping me look after this cache since I live in Melbourne now.Dated: Sunday 28th of January 2024 at 10:50am
#4244 Finishing off my afternoon and checking out a rather new letterbox, this one was within easy reach. Good to pick up an older cache in an interesting historical area. Thanks AussieGuy006 for the cache.
Quick find after a bit of a scramble through the brush. It’s too bad to see all the broken glass and beer bottles around. TFTC
Quick find with sebass19 after picking up a newer placement nearby. All good with the hide. Managed to dodge the passing muggles. Cheers

Lovely little park! And I loved the backstory. Accidentally picked quite a busy time of day to find this one but waited for a quiet moment and soon was able to log it. Thanks for the cache!!
Been in Canberra for Easter attending the National Folk Festival last weekend so thought I’d drop by and check on this cache.
All good to find and just as I pulled up another car arrived and a lady got out and I thought hmm maybe she was looking for my cache too as I would’ve gotten out of my car and talked to her about it but nope she picked some big wild mushrooms that were growing in the park! Then she got back into the car and drove off with her husband who was driving.
So everything is okay with this cache for the time being! Not sure when I’ll be back in Canberra again yet but glad I checked in again this weekend over Easter. Where I always spend a few extra days in Canberra after the folk festival.

Nice quick find, did my best to make sure the camo was up to scratch prior to leaving.

Cute park!
As I pulled up there was a neighbour down the road watching all the construction going on further down the road, but she was out of sight from the park. As I made my way toward GZ, I spotted something in the bushes that looked pretty cache-like. Coming up empty handed after a brief search I went back and had a look at the container. Yep, had all the trappings of a cache, and usually people don't leave boxes with camo tape in the bushes. The box had a squished banana in it, so I suspect one of the nearby children is making memories and the pile of sticks near GZ lead to the uncovering of the cache during collection time.
I put the cache back where it ought to be and covered it with a bit of leaf litter. There is a makeshift log from some left behind burger wrapper that I scribbled my name on, as I didn't have any decent log paper to put in the cache.
So it appears the cache has been noticed by someone, and we'll see how much longer it lasts. TFTC.

Always good to avenge a DNF! The key here was simply bringing Baristayan along…she was in scintillating for this arvo! This was our sixth and final cache for the day and she found all six

Love this hide and the sentimental value it holds
I would have been blown away by this tree and rocks too as a child, so I’ll give it a favourite point.
Love this emotional caches
I think we absorbe a bit of the good memories too when we visit them ️

I’ll be back in Canberra again on the 6th of April for a week so I’ll be checking on it again then. I was actually in Canberra on the 5th of February earlier this month but I was unable to check on it as I was only here for 3 nights and didn’t have enough time to check on it where when I’ll be back again at Easter I’ll have more time to check on it again where as earlier this month I was travelling with my parents as we just did a big round trip up to Brisbane and back to Melbourne again so only had one car so I couldn’t really check on it this trip but I’ll definitely be checking on it again in April in a few months time!

After I logged this as needs maintenance on my third unsuccessful visit here I returned today with the plan to systematically search the whole bushy area.
I did find the cache, though in a very awkward area. The lid had fallen off, but thanks to the hot weather it was all dry inside.
I have now hidden it with a bit of broken brick on top so hopefully the lid doesn't come off.
The area is actually quite nice. To sign the log I sat on one of the rocks in the middle of the copse. It would be a really nice lunch spot.

Due to me living in Melbourne I’m unable to do any physical maintenance on my cache. So I’m in the middle of talking with the previous person who tried looking for it to see if they could help me do a full search of the area to see if it’s actually missing for real and then I’ll decide what kind of cache container I’ll replace it with as I won’t be back in Canberra until the 6th of April over the Easter long weekend as I was recently in Canberra earlier this month in February and got a message from someone who had found it the day I was leaving so thought I didn’t have the need to do a maintenance check on it since it had been found back then in early February.
So I’m just getting rid of this maintenance report for the time being until I can get someone else to do a full inspection of the whole area where the cache is located.

Had a quick poke around GZ, but there were muggles about so pulled the pin pretty quickly. Coordinates seemed to be about 10-15m away from the hint tho…?
I walked around for a while, but given the fact that torchlight in this environment is not helpful (casts too many shadows) and that the hint is 13 m away from the coordinates and that the place is littered with Maccas wrappings and vodka bottles, I didn't spend more than 10 min searching.
Easily found, though it was filled with water as the lid had come off. Didn’t sign the logbook as it was soaked, but it was nice to find a cache in the area.
TFTC! Unfortunately I found it in the middle of the clearing with the contents on the ground. I’ve put it back in, but the log book and other paper have been soaked. Needs mantinence ASAP.
Found after a short search and reverting to the clue. GZ is abot 10m off.
Nice camo and an interesting spot

This is my third time here and am so pleased to have found your cache. Have re hidden so it cannot be seen. Was good to read the information board here and learn the significance of this place. Thank you for your childhood story and for placing the cache AussieGuy007
Been in Canberra for the National Folk Festival which just finished yesterday and staying in Canberra for another 3 nights before I head back home to Melbourne on Friday.
Thought I’d check on my cache while I was in Canberra again after being here at Christmas last year and replaced the cache then.
So on this visit it’s all good to find as usual and hopefully it doesn’t go missing like last time as I’m not sure when I’ll be in Canberra again yet but as of today it’s still here.

I've driven down this road loads of times and never realised that this was a park. Nice little selection of rocks. Funny thing I noticed in the ground. A tree root had grown through a glass bottle top. See photo. Thanks for the cache.
Aim for tonight was to complete the local AL with Nibletricecakes and GLISS!. However, things dont often go as planned, so a few caches were found in the area.
Previously I had dnf'd this cache, so it was so good to finally turn the frown upside down.
Thank you

I've tried to find this one a few times. It came up again on my radar as I was looking for a "Regular" size cache today. I was pleased to see that it has recently been replaced. Found with onieferret and Nibletricecakes. TFTC.
This was my fifth time here, third time searching for the cache and first time finding! I had to drive past twice, as there were a couple of teenagers sitting pretty much right on top of GZ, potentially as you used to as a kid and teen Aussie Guy 007. The other two times I managed to have a search, but to no avail. I saw today that there had been maintenance at the cache, so came over while I knew it would be there. Not how I expected it to be hidden, but at least it was there when I was searching. Thanks for sharing the memories Aussie Guy 007!
In Canberra for a week for Christmas so thought I'd check on my two caches now that the borders are finally open between Victoria, NSW and Canberra for Christmas.
New cache in place and please cover it up again with leaves and sticks so non geocachers can't find it! It's close to the telegraph pole near some rocks.
Next time I'll be in Canberra will be over Easter next year so I'll check on my two caches in a couple months depending upon if they close the borders again or not with Victoria and Canberra again but I'm guessing they'll keep it open for now on!
I've also made this cache premium now so hopefully less likely that it will go missing again!

Due to the lockdowns in Melbourne and Canberra I’m unable to travel to Canberra again and got absolutely no idea when I’ll be able to travel back to Canberra again anytime soon.
I definitely do not want to archive this cache as it’s one of my favourite places in Canberra where I grew up in and definitely don’t want to loose this location!
When I was here in December last year just before Christmas I wished I put something else in it’s place instead of a fake rock where I should’ve placed a small bison tube instead as I could’ve attached it to a tree instead and wouldn’t of gone missing again!
So I’ve got absolutely no idea when I’ll be able to travel back to Canberra again and I definitely don’t want to loose this location!
So I’ll add this on the cache page as well so that the reviewers and HQ know that I still want to keep this location because I can’t disable it because I don’t know when I’ll be back there yet and you can only disable it for a short period of time so that’s why I don’t disable it.
If I still lived in Canberra then yeah I’d definitely go and check on it but since I live in Melbourne I can’t yet and it’s the same with my cache in Adelaide as well including my other cache out at Hall Showgrounds I can’t check on any of them until they open the borders with Victoria again to Adelaide and Canberra again.
So at the moment I’m not going to do anything until I’m able to travel back to Canberra again and I’ve got absolutely no idea when that will be! So this cache will remain active until I can get back to Canberra again whenever that might happen!

Looked hard, but no luck. The only thing I found was a dead lorikeet, which was an unpleasant find A good place for a cache though
I was on my own trip full of memories, walking around this area. Amazingly, I was on the corner of Hayes Crescent and Monaro Crescent in Griffith when I thought I would check for a cache. Things looked good for an opportunistic find but it was not to be.
Thank you for bringing me here. I loved the placement.

Unfortunately this was not to be for us today; lots of rocks and shrubs were searched and leaf litter moved but to no avail. Thanks for the hunt.
Topping up my caches for today, saw this had been replaced on the way home so swung by to have a look. Took me a minute or two - GPS bounces a bit here and it’s quite well camouflaged. Thanks so much for replacing this, AussieGuy007 (and thanks for the updates on your journey to do so!) - it’s a lovely little spot.
Currently in Canberra for a few days and I have replaced the cache with a new one. Check the hint for the new clue. I'll check it again before I leave on Saturday morning. Hopefully this one will last longer! I'll be back in Canberra again sometime next year.
Replaced it at: 6:30pm on Wednesday 16th of December 2020

Hi, I'll be in Canberra from Tuesday 15th of December for a week so I'll be checking both of my caches while I'm in Canberra as I haven't been able to visit Canberra since Easter 2019 and then I couldn't make it in January this year because of the bushfires and then covid lockdown happened in March so haven't been outside of Victoria since March 2019.
So now that the borders have opened up to Victoria with NSW and ACT now I'll be able to travel up to Canberra the week before Christmas. So I'll be able to finally check on both of my caches from the 15th of December and I'll probably most likely be replacing one of them as it's gone missing as usual so I need to find something that will be well hidden and last much longer this time!
So I'll be in Canberra on Tuesday 15th of December until that Saturday and I'll be checking on both of my caches.

We had 3 sets of eyes trying to find this one, but we were unable to locate it.
Great spot though. Would have been a great place to play growing up

The cache was in plain sight. Log signed, replaced and covered with a bit of extra camo to preserve it. All is good with the cache.
Found on a lovely autumn day. I started on the wrong side, but eventually the GPS settled down and I had it in hand pretty quickly after that. I also left some extra paper for future finders to log.

Spent Easter Sunday caching around red hill and then walking into red hill and Griffith. All up around 14km loop, and with great weather it was well worth it. Many rocks here, found the correct rock quickly. Tftc
I have DNF'd this cache twice now in the past couple years, I always seem to come when it is missing! It has been my last unfound traditional in this part of Canberra for a long time now, apart from one other cache on Red Hill.
So when I saw it was replaced, I decided I better come and quickly grab it! The cache hide was spotted very quickly, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if it goes missing again..... It needs to be in a deeper crevice or on the other side of the rock so that it can't be spotted from the road. Currently it is just hidden with rocks packed up ontop of it which stands out.
Oh well, I signed the log and did my best to hide it again as good as I could, before heading off
TFTC AussieGuy007 and Farmers 5 for kindly replacing it for the CO!

Since I live in Melbourne and due to the travel ban in place at the moment due to the Covid 19 virus. I had someone in Canberra on the local Facebook group go and checked it for me and sadly it was missing! The previous cache that I replaced had Geocaching written all over the container including the words “Do Not Remove” in big letters but nope it still went missing!!
So someone has replaced it for me now and also added a new container with a new logbook as well. So it’s good to be found again until everyone is allowed to go outside again!
Stay safe everyone and only go out if you really need to go out and that doesn’t include geocaching! Hope it ends soon so we can get back to normal again!
