Logs
A great walk on a nice hot day in search of solitude, which I did find! Amazing rock, and I could only see the last four logs on the GPS, so clambered around for quite some time... TFTC!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
Having read the previous logs I was a bit worried about how tricky this one would be. As it was, it wasn't too bad and this average height cacher reached it with no problems. TFTC.
After Mr W.E.K.A. looked behind the rock but wasn't keen on venturing that way, Mrs W.E.K.A. also looked, and spotted the cache lying on the ground, so he had to venture around cautiously anyway. The cache was replaced in what seemed the probable position based on comments in previous logs. The cache we found was a micro. TFTC
Found with farmerkeith on 4 jan 21. Great loop track. This one was as mentioned in previous log around and up high but I could get easy enough without having to overreach. Couple of young birds in a nest around front.
After an initial scan, Mr D checked the lower crag and Mrs D inched out around the rock. Feet still on the ground, stretched up high and felt in a crevice... this is not one that could be found by the shorter-than-average cacher. Log paper has had the ink washed out completely. Managed to write on it, but soggy.
We decided to turn right on the intersection - we still don't know whether this is the better option.
Unfortunately, we could not find the cache despite searching for almost 20 minutes. We even walked around the rock (not recommended) and came from the bottom (not recommended either) to check any possible options. We looked and put our hands in every possible and reachable hole - no success. We even checked out the bird nests....
Not sure whether we come back.
Thanks anyway for showing us this impressive rock.

Such a great rock but sadly didn't find the cache. (We didn't spend too long searching)
Found with StreetWalkerNZ en route to Fairlie from Christchurch on a lovely late winters day. We had the time, and the weather was good, so we decided to walk the Kakahu track to the Pinnacles.
We found this cache on a wee detour on the way up to the Pinnacles as we weren't sure we'd be walking the whole loop track (our GPSrs didn't have the tracks on them, but now we know that doing the whole loop was the best route). My GPSr was pointing 10m down the steep bank, while SW's was pointing back along the track in the direction we had come from. After searching for a few minutes where SW's GPSr was pointing (as it is more reliable than my Oregon) we changed tack, and he soon found the cache.
Spent a wee bit of time admiring the rock, and wondering how long it will remain in this position. TFTC.

#18475. Took a bit of searching to find (should have paid more attention to the cache name and less to my GPSr). Nicely hidden. The connection between the rock and its plinth seems tenuous; wonder how long it will last in that location. TFTC.
Found with a friend. She has great geocaching senses for a newbie. Tftc
Wonderful landmark for a cache; found the contents a bit damp while hiking with the Geraldine Tramping Club.
in NZ on a years working holiday visiting my uncle ( the Co) nice sunday stroll while bcd performed maintenance tftc

I knew the cache had to be here somewhere, but at GZ my GPS said I was 35 metres out. I found a plastic bag with a few of shreds of what was once a log book. No container in sight, bag was intact and sealed, but log in pieces - odd! Great bit of rock! TFTC.
Found all safe and secure when you get there honestly there is only 1 place a cache deserves to be and yes it is there .... don't listen to your gps device tftc Mr BCD a cache deserves to be here 3/5 a bit damp

No swift, no cache today while out with Kiwitien. Located, found and logged cache some time ago. Today looked everywhere around and below the site. Coordinates point 595 meters away from swift nest however swift nest still at **S 44 08 711 E 171 04 395**! Checked again today) Indicated coordinates somewhere way away from the intended 'Rock On' higher up the hill in the middle of the bush away from the track!
Very sorry for late logging, it was on the list but I don't think I looked for it...............
Not sure what is going on with the coordinates, but the ones provided by kakariki are good. Can you favourite a log?
A quick find back up the track a 150m or so. Thanks go to DoC, the QEII tust and the land owners for making the walk available and to the CO for bringing us here.
West Coast or Geraldine for the weekend? No chains for the car so Geraldine it is.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

kakarikis coords are good. Very frustrating hunting around, then realising that I had been at the final 1/2 an hour previously.
Very frustrating realising at the given coords that the coords are literally miles out here, and even worse having been at GZ 1/2 an hour previously, and not realising that was where the cache was. I was thankful that it wasn't too far back down the track from the intersection to go back to this one, as it was getting dark, and I almost had to give up on it.
Cache at this location replaced after it was found in very bad state on the ground, somewhere below it's hide, by friends doing weed control / track maintenance in the area. Swallow appeared to be in residence so be careful not to disturb it at his time of the year.

Looked at this site to place a geo-cache a while ago. This time on the track with a friend checking pest tracking tunnels. Didn't have my GPS/phone on me but remembered the description with the swallow's nest. Had to go round the rock twice to spot it! Well done!
Not going to call this a DNF as we didn't really get closer that 50m but could not get any closer. Two possible ways but both considerably further away before coming close. I question the new co-ordinates. A pain as we really needed an R for March and it was a jolly long walk for no result. This track could do with some extra caches to make it more fun. One at the Sanitorium for sure.

Not sure what was going on with one but the coords pointed another 340m up the trail. The swift nest was the give away. We stopped here for lunch before carrying on around the whole track. Blimmen hot in the when climbing up the paddocks.
Got this morning on a mini cache trip, was ftf so not too bad, nice walk through the trees to get to it.
